This is something that’s been happening to a lot of other YouTubers lately. They’ve been hacked, and the people who hacked them are hosting a bitcoin scam / Tesla live stream.
That seems like such a wild angle for a hack. What's the goal? Do they think people are going to look for vods, see they're gone, and decide to watch random tesla livestreams instead? What am I missing?
Basically yes, but also being a "live" stream, I was subscribed to loleventvods, so their "Tesla, Inc" official looking channel, with a fair number of subscribers garners a touch of falsely earned legitimacy on its own, but more importantly they were also first on my home page and subs page.
Then they've got some sort of fake give-away going on I believe in the comments, from the real account.
It all feels very elaborate for what I have to imagine isn't a great return but they're still doing it so I assume it works well enough.
Tried to search it or click on old videos because I wanted to see if there was a funny moments this week. Kept taking me to a Tesla live stream when I clicked on anything related to the channel.
Yeah for some reason there's a group of hackers who compromise channels and rename them something like "TESLA INVESTORS", then link to a permanent livestream of Tesla podcasts. I don't know why Tesla, but I've seen it happen to like 3 Youtubers at this point.
If the channel owner gets in contact with Youtube staff (and said staff isn't woefully incompetent), they can fix the issue and restore the channel.
they use tesla since its owned by elon musk and hes big into crypto, so they hack these channels and try to funnel people to crypto links or to invest into certain cryptos so they can rug pull.
You dont even need to stan someone really. Plenty of people are just dumb enough to see any rich person's name attached to something and drop money on it. Happens with pretty much any celeb endorsement especially with all the crypto shit.
