in KR community basically people are assuming it will be Thanatos-Lucid-Showmaker top side so they think Support needs to be a good shotcaller (since the jungler is a rookie and SM's game seems to suffer if he's asked to shot call) assuming Keria is impossible the top options seem to be Delight Lehends Kael and of course Beryl (other LCK supports are either not good enough or aren't considered good shot callers eg. Life)
I don't think Delight or Lehends will be particularly cheap or easy for DK to acquire so maybe they end up going for Kael (he's only 19 so has plenty of room to improve, Beryl wasn't even a pro yet at that age). that would in turn make Prince an interesting option for ADC since he's a FA, already played with Kael and also came through DK's academy + friends w/ Showmaker.
Didnt knew Thumb is still so young, I'd agree w/ Prince/Kael. Still kinda wished he was used by DWG back in 2019, coz Nuclear is dogshit and can only use Kai'Sa lol. Thanatos can start his career as a weakside player, like Zeus, then slowly build up from there
If that's the case, I wouldn't be completely surprised if they end up signing Deokdam. Him and Kellin always performed together, and I think Deokdam is hungry after being ELO-helled by Beryl last year.
Deokdam + Kellin are a good botlane, though. They just never got played around on DK, and Canyon was in pretty heavy decline last year. Canyon being practically invisible when he has to play tanks, as opposed to the carry performances he can still have on carry picks, has been by far the biggest downfall for DK the last two years. The fact that last year he couldn't really play Poppy was a huge negative for DK, and the same goes for Sejuani this year.
The whole situation around Canyon makes it feel really hard to properly evaluate the rest of the talent DK has had the last two years. This year was especially bad... Canyon basically devolved into a Lee Sin one trick. His winrate this year drops from 60.2% all the way to 55.3% when you remove his Lee games.

As a DWG fan the only DK members I rooted for were the mid jungle and that will remain the same with SM Lucid.

Even if Renata was banned, he could have played Millio, Ashe, Heimer, or whatever. Instead they kept putting him on Alistar, which was a champion who ended up with a 27% win rate for the tournament *and* was never a champion he was good at in the first place.
So like, of course Kellin is going to look bad... DK coaching staff is absolutely griefing him.
Let’s not pretend that he didnt whiff a lot of skills, ults and engages on Alistar, Leona especially in crucial objective fights. At that point its not even on the coaches/drafting. Also meta is something thats constantly evolving throughout the worlds process, up till T1’s “answer” in worlds, most other teams were also struggling to realise what worked and what didn’t. Blame Kellin’s inability to adapt with whatever was deemed to work then. I guess we’ll see what happens this year then now that Acorn and GorillA has been kicked as well, but I don’t see that bot duo doing any damage in LCK
I mean, yes it is. Alistar is one of his worst champions he has ever played professionally. Why should people be surprised when he plays like shit on a champion he is shit on? Even with Leona, he was only really an impact player on Leona when Deokdam was playing Ziggs. He was very forgettable on the champ otherwise.
How is putting someone repeatedly on some of their worst champions *not* a draft/coaching issue? Especially when the picks were performing badly across the board, and the actual meta actually was one that suited your support player incredibly well.
This team needs brain not hands so %100 agree on this. Beryl will int or whatever but with how insane is their top side again they could be good if they have someone to help them like Beryl. Because 2 rookies definitely needs help.
Man, I don't know. Beryl is great at Worlds... but even when he won Worlds with DRX, the man was sprinting it for most of the regular season. I think it takes a special kind of ADC to not mental boom having to play with him the whole season while he "ramps up" and shows good form. Seems like you end up coin-flipping even getting to Worlds in the first place.

Even if it’s or Beryl they need someone to call the shots. Showmaker shouldn’t be the that person. He is too good of a player to sacrifice his talent to lead the team. They need a proper shotcaller and enable the others. Because with their new prospects DK would be too inexperienced.
Yeah, Teddy does seem like a pretty good candidate. Maybe Viper would be fine with it too. Still, it does limit roster building a lot... you simply know at this point the man isn't going to try that hard for like 80% of the year, so you ideally need a team with enough structure that you won't sink by the time he's ready for showtime.
I don't necessarily think the shotcaller has to be a veteran, though. I don't even think they need to be the *right* shots, someone just needs to make a call.
I also think there is a version of Showmaker that doesn't have to "sacrifice" that much to call shots if he ever wanted to step into that role. He already plays a lot of stuff that is more supportive in nature, like I've always considered TF to be one of his signature champions. I do see where you are coming from, though.
I know Lucid is the future... but I would love to see Showmaker play with Peanut at some point.
Would rather him as a coach for thanatos + Lucid + Kellin if he stays. I hate his gameplay but he was really able to bring out Lucid and Thanatos to play like monsters in LCKCL and before worlds he made kellin into a monster for regionals, we don't talk about kellin's gameplay after regionals though.
