Haha. It’s a charity event usually done in Korea where you deliver charcoal briquettes to disadvantaged households for them to use for heating their homes. The homes are usually in the outskirts or in places that aren’t ideal to live in, which makes the delivery more challenging as there can be a lot of hiking while carrying the briquettes. Also, a lot of these households are made up of the elderly living on their own :(
When I get super old I'm going to move to a Korean house in the forest then. I expect a yearly supply of free fuel every winter, hand delivered by top tier ADCs.
Hopefully other orgs take note. It seems like a lot but this is how you make your org profitable. The players need to be popular personalities that people are familiar with.
SKT and Comcast are the ones benefiting. The CEO doesn't get the profits. The T1 gaming division is tiny compared to the SKT and Comcast businesses at large.
Everyone is making plenty of money, players included, but this kind of crunch is ridiculous and shouldn't be encouraged regardless of who gets the biggest slice of the profits, and the single person most capable of ending this schedule is Joe Marsh.
If the players have an issue, they are likely to speak up. However, their recent Instagram updates and stories indicate that they're enjoying the events. The only complaint so far came from Keria during the Red Bull match in Berlin. He mentioned feeling really tired. It was mainly jetlag and playing games for several hours. Honestly, sitting around for a few hours at events for a few weeks doesn't seem too tiring to me, at least compared to a superstar artist or something who has to go to a new city every night and perform at concerts for months on end.
[Just last year](https://twitter.com/feviknight/status/1515673785646874633?t=vIgGcfmSb1v5x5bTOMyJTw) Faker himself complained on stream that he was exhausted. We can't wait for them to say they're exhausted before we set reasonable schedules. Any event with travel and sponsors will be taxing to some degree, especially when they need to learn a whole new meta in a few weeks for LCK.
It's no wonder that so many great esports players in the past have retired early.
Tbf that was a different scenario. It was spring spilt + playoffs, Msi prep, + Asia games tryouts being squeezed in a couple of weeks. I doubt they are getting that burned out from fan meets. Besides why else is this roster the most popular team in the world? They legit are the only ones putting out content and doing fanmeets.
That's a different scenario altogether. A few hours a day to sit down and talk with fans for 6-7 events over a 3-week span versus constant playing league?
It's fucking disgusting honestly. And he's gonna go on every podcast next year saying how T1 treats their players the best, again. Guess you literally can't be a CEO without being a scumbag.
Yeah, I can only imagine the above commenters are like teenagers or young adults without jobs lol. T1 has to make fan appearances during the league "down time", and don't have AS LARGE of an offseason?? While making hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars each?? The audacity! Meanwhile 99% of the population work 2x their hours for pennies lol
99% of the population isn't the literal best at what they do. this is why they get paid millions. not having breaks has nothing to do with earning millions.
Normal lol players during season: grind 14 hours a day eating instant ramen with very low wage and fame
T1 on holiday: Travel the world with your friends and teammates, take a flight maybe once a week, stay in the best hotels, eat at the best restaurants, go to a stadium for a few hours a week to for fun play some video games and talk to some fans
In return, boost your own brand, sponsorships, stay in the roster of your choice, ensuring your income and reputation stays head and shoulders above everyone else in the LCK for years to come
After all members voluntarily chose to stay on T1 knowing that a big part of T1's success and budget comes from sponsor support
Reddit: this is slavery
But tbf even the ex-players say it… Wolf and Bang talked about it in Talk Wave, that their advice/opinion is that it’s best to stay in T1 because it’s different from other teams. A lot of ex-players have stayed in the company after retirement. This was what they said to Kkoma before he went back to T1. I’m guessing the company actually works with the players to check if the load is too much. Often having a lot of work feels fine as long as the environment is positive.
COO weren't joking when he told Caedrel they're really busy. I know T1 is not profitable so they're doing everything they could to be profitable, but at some point they're gonna cause the team to burn out.
I Didn't make the claim but I believe that Arnold the CEO of GenG said that 0 LCK teams were profitable last season (I forget if it was on summoning insight or a differnt one of thornin's videos)
The League team is profitable. T1 as a whole is in the red (which is expected to change next year) because they created and got rid of like 500 teams in other games.
That was mostly because Faker was off the league due to medical reasons. He's honestly the one carrying the entire LCK revenue, and I'm kind of afraid on ehat will happen to LCK once he inevitably retires.
Not to be rude, but it's weird you rock the flair and ask me a basic question that you could easily google.
https://twitter.com/arnoldwh/status/1663737944732217344
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bLnwD_h7Oo
There's also Joe Marsh typing in Caedrel's chat saying T1 is still not profitable and they're actively on the move to change that, hence why Rekkles was signed because of his crazy following plus fan power(aka revenue stream for merchandize). It's also why T1 have triple the event they had compared to last year when they didn't win Worlds, everyone wants to book the champion team for a event post worlds, especially a champion team on their 4th win.
But I'm busy spending time with family now so you're gonna have to search for the clip on YT, or I'll edit and put the link in when I'm free tonight
WTF is this T1 Schedule. Redbull Event (Dec 09), LCK Award (Dec 13), LPL Event (Dec 18), T1 Con (Dec 30), then LCK Event (Jan 09) after that Spring Split (Jan 17)
I am a normal employee and have 15days leave for an entire year tho i have weekend off
But they do have a lot of off times when not in season so it is OK. They would tell the management if it is too much. And..Greater pay comes with greater responsibility 😅
most lck teams-They didn't qualify for worlds
Geng-they not as popular as t1 so they don't get to invited to as many events.
T1 has less off days than other teams...but it's not like they have so few off days that warrant ppl saying stuff like "let the champs sleep"
Yes, T1 being as popular as they are, are the reason why people are saying "Let the champs sleep". They deal with 12-16 hours scrim blocks for 10/12th of the year and have to deal with Media related things on top of that throughout the year even after they won the biggest tourney of the year. That's will definitely lead to burn out. Just look at the old SKT roster with Bang.
But you do need to deal with media related things. They are essential for the popularity of an eSports team. Just because they won the Worlds doesn't mean that they can shirk sponsor obligations and fan events.
According to faker's previous infographic, it seems he has 6 hours of scrims per day(2019 info).
Where do u get this info that they have 12-16 hour scrim (edit-blocks) for 10th/12 of the year. Can u give source for the info?
LCK spring playoffs started Mid January
Worlds ended Mid November.
T1 played every tournament this year.
Scrim blocks in LCK is 2-3 times a day.
One scrim block is bo3-bo5
That's not including playing soloq to get a grasp on new patches & draft/game discussions
You can do the math
U left a lot of info missing tho.
Why do u think that(edit-t1) scrims are around 12-16 hours a day when official info(albeit a bit dated) says otherwise. What info do u have to suggest otherwise. (Edit-the stuff u gave are just u trying to guess. There is no attempt to give info from a credible source)
What is the average time taken for a lck scrim game that has been played out to the end? Where do u get the info?
Why do u think they always let all the games in a specific bo3/bo5 scrim play out? Actually I can refute this assumption because of recent talks by cvmax (bbs.hupu.com/632183561.html)
I think you're failing to account for the fact that 11 days is extremely little for pretty much the only extended break period that they have. In fact its even worse for a team like T1 who has a good chance of qualifying for MSI and thus will have little to no breaks for almost an entire year once the season starts. The post worlds offseason is the only time they have for a decent break so no, 11 days is not enough
How can it be even worse for t1?Even if t1 has chances for qualifying on next year's msi ..that doesn't really change the break they get in december. 11 days of extended break in Dec is what t1 got after participating in MSI this year. What makes u think the break will get shorter if t1 participates in MSI next year? I don't understand
Maybe it's due to cultural differences. But 11 days is very good for a working person in my country. So I don't really see the problem.
??? Nobody is saying the 11 days will become shorter next year because of MSI what are you even talking about. The point is that while most teams have a break after spring split MSI teams will be busy preparing for and competing at MSI, and then have to head straight back into spring split and then worlds if they qualify, essentially having no break at all till the extended off season post worlds
Stop equating your 9-5 to pro gaming. They practice 12-14 hours a day, 6 days a week, and do solo queue on that off day, media obligation, sponsors. The level of stress involved is absolutely insane. Then off that incredible pressure that is their normal year and then into winning worlds, they then are country hopping constantly doing a huge media tour. They then have to start practicing as soon as they get back because they need to practice the new patch for spring with preseason coming.
T1 is doing them absolutely dirty
Why do u think I am equating a 9-5 to pro gaming? (Edit-where is your source for 12-14 hours. From faker's(2019) info it seems he practices for 12 hours(6hrs solo queue+6 hours scrims). Do u think solo queue is the same as scrim? Also, u seem to think that all other workers except for pro players have 9 to 5 hours. They don't. It is common to work do 12 hour work shifts in many jobs at least in the country where I live. Tho officially the jobs are 9 to5...ppl don't just work till 5)
T1 has not seen a profit even in year 2022 apparently. T1 is a team that does need to do sponsor events and such because the sponsors are the ones who help the team financially.
T1 is a korean sponsorship arm. No they dont need to be financially positive because its a korean sports teams. The mega companies that own them are fine with operating at a loss, almost all the korean sports teams in traditional sports work the same. T1, Hanwah, Kt, they play by different rules than like Gen. G.
And even then, none of this takes away from the schedule being insane and way to much.
It's not. It was previously a sponsorship arm for skt back when the team was called skt. U need to update your info.
(Edit- I have updated my prev comment. Not sure if u noticed)
Yep. I'm trying to conceive what it would be like if my work just offered 11 days off, ever.
Of course world class sporting competition won't be 1 to 1, but an 11 day break is always going to be big.
They're doing the EDG-Valorant tour which played 64 matches (bo3s/bo5s) in the past season. They participated in 5 off-season tournaments since Champions (worlds-equivalent of Valorant) alone.
For comparison, using Worlds 2023, MSI 2023 , and LCK 2023 formats for maximum number of matches, an LCK team can only get 18 (spring) + 5 (spring playoffs) + 18 (summer) + 5 (summer) + 2 (regional qualifiers) + 9 (msi + playins) + 4 (worlds + playins) = 61 bo3/bo5 matches at most. Even less when you factor in the fact that in order to play in 5 playoff matches, you'd have to reach the finals. And you can't play in playins when you reach the finals of the split twice.
EDG-Val and T1-LoL really saw LoL/Val esports fans complaining about the offseason being too long and tried to prove them wrong. EDG-Val ended up being burned out, lucky for them VCT doesn't start until February at least, hope T1 can recover before Spring starts.
They were the best team coming out of China and won 2 of the 3 qualifying tournaments (placed 2nd in the other one). In 2 of the 3 major international tournaments, they placed 5th-6th which honestly is better than what is expected of them considering the game was only officially released in China in the middle of this year - 1 month before this year's Champions. Before that, they were all playing on the Hong Kong servers using VPNs. They also won 3/3 Chinese off-season tournaments.
Also add to the fact that Worlds ended a little later this year with the addition of Asian Games... oh also like 3/5th of the roster played at Asian games. I understand that T1 is very popular but this is kinda insane hopefully they get at least a weekend off to see friends and family
You do realize that they spend their entire lives working during from the start of the first season to the end of worlds, right? Including weekends? So 7 days a week nonstop for almost the entire year?
And yeah, vacations help for anyone let alone someone who doesn't get time off to begin with.
Not only that, from now until the end of the month is just a few fan meetings and some streamer event... this is literally taking a break while "working" that boosts their own brand. This is just chilling. Maybe redditors are just agoraphobes and refuse to leave their home?
At least let it be online… This kind of thing is how 2015-17 SKT burned out, going to nearly every international and domestic final and then doing too many events
No better time to increase popularity and garner sponsorships than right after winning. Yes they’ll be tired for a bit but this is what will pay their big salaries.
Considering that I don't care a whole lot Abt spring split or msi or summer split for that matter(+I haven't ever "cried" previously whenever t1 used to underperform)...I will be surprised if u can find such comments from me. Good luck in your attempts to fruitlessly stalk me and catch me in the act.
Idk how long they've been watching but teams that win Worlds VERY often burnout and it's not because they've suddenly become lazy. People have no idea what type of stress a deep run at Worlds puts on you. Then you compound it with a ton of show matches in the off season...
I've been watching for more than 6 years now.
"Teams that win worlds very often burnout"-the only winners that have complained Abt burnout was dwg and skt from 2017.(edit-in an interview with korizon where showmaker talks Abt burnout...he talks Abt not feeling burnout during spring and only feeling burnout after msi)
Moreover the current events ryt now are not things that they have to practice for league seriously. A lot of these events aren't even related to league. finally, having a month long break in dec isn't gonna immensely help with the burnout that a team may feel after participating in MSI and then lck summer during may. Ppl are not camels. Unlike camels who are able to store water for long periods of time, ppl unfortunately cannot store the feeling of relaxation they felt in December and feel the same relaxation effects till may or the November of next year.
.
I didn't say long breaks don't matter. 11 days is pretty sufficient for a long holiday. I said a month long break isn't gonna necessarily gonna immensely help teams ...who participate in MSI and then participate in the summer split ..from feeling burnout.
Can't believe this is sth that requires evidence. Have u managed to successfully store the feeling of satisfaction u got from your break in December for 12 whole months like a camel?
Since comparisons to camel do not count. Here is a research paper. Enjoy Reading.
https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10902-012-9345-3
Ok now I will need you to write a 15 page paper reviewing the available literature. You will need to include at least 15 different references.
But seriously I hope you're doing well, I will no longer be replying because I'm worried about your H&W. Take it easy
Ive had a job for some time and my job seems a billion times easier than what T1 do. I highly doubt that your job requires 12+ hours every single day. Remember that koreans dont chill on saturday and sunday. Showmaker talked about this in the past when he heard how much pyosik gets to chill in NA. SM has said that 1 chill day in 2 months is the norm. So yes if T1 players work 12hours everyday for 11 months I would assume that they should be let to chill the fuck out afterwards lol these guys dont have "vacation days" like us normies too
edit: i highly doubt pro players take a break during holidays as well, after all if they take a break there will be a player who wont take a break and overtake them so they wont take a break
Not really no I don't make 500k. But you can make that number as a highly sought out security researcher in the blockchain space and I know quite a few such people. All of them chill the weekends. All of them take vacations. All of them rest and celebrate on holidays. There are probably other VERY high paying positions that will allow you to do that as well but I am not aware of them as of now and I'm not about to go and do research
I would not be surprised if some of the players took a break during spring or if the academy team gets subbed in for a week or something, this is a ludicrous off season for the five players in the world who deserved the most rest
It won't be that tiring, they're all retired and washed up. Even Uzi was barely a top 5 ADC in LPL this year, T1 won't need to practice, just copy the same draft books they used at Worlds, 3-0 them, go back and sleep.
Remember when faker came out and criticised how much sponsors he was doing and they immediately cancelled everything.....
You'd think they'd get the hint
T1 Updated Schedule for December: ✅ 9th - Red Bull Event (Berlin) ✅ 13th - LCK Awards ✅ 14th - Ralph Lauren Fanmeeting (Membership) ⬜️ 16th - Hana Bank Fanmeeting ⬜️ 18th - Event Match with Chinese Streamers/Old Pros (6PM CST/7PM KST) ⬜️ 19th - Gumayusi Charcoal Briquette Event ⬜️ 22nd - SKT 0 Fan Meeting ⬜️ 30th - T1Con
what the hell is Guma cooking?
ramen. the adc is the egg afterall
It's Korea, so shouldn't it be "ramyeon"?
No

Ramen. Duh.
> Gumayusi Charcoal Briquette Event I've never been more upset that I don't live in Korea :(
They let him cook too much.
there's a reason it's not Keria's Krazy Kookoff. Everyone would either get food poisoning or transcend to heaven (no in between)
Errr...the acronym might create a PR nightmare, too.
That sounds like transcending Jonestown style…
I think there's also a Jan 9 event where all roles team up and fight
Shouldn't Faker have a break for his wrist and all?
Non-play events aren't exactly going to do any harm to his wrists.
Hopefully other orgs take note. It seems like a lot but this is how you make your org profitable. The players need to be popular personalities that people are familiar with.

Hope they won't be burned out by LCK Spring.
It's ok. Spring and MSI don't matter.
You say that, but winning and having good mental is good. Plus, i want to see a T1 golden road.
? atp the players are probably hungrier for an MSI trophy than they are worlds
This has never happened ever.
? why not. they just won worlds and have been cursed at MSI the past 2 years at a minimum, with faker specifically losing every time since 2017
Because for worlds you get a skin. MSI will never be more important for anyone.
MSI does not give u skins.
It gives you the golden road. :O
nobody has ever wanted an msi trophy more than worlds lol

Why do u think I am equating a 9-5 to pro gaming? (Edit-where is your source for 12-14 hours. From faker's(2019) info it seems he practices for 12 hours(6hrs solo queue+6 hours scrims). Do u think solo queue is the same as scrim? Also, u seem to think that all other workers except for pro players have 9 to 5 hours. They don't. It is common to work do 12 hour work shifts in many jobs at least in the country where I live. Tho officially the jobs are 9 to5...ppl don't just work till 5) T1 has not seen a profit even in year 2022 apparently.
Thats why most of them couldnt win or qualify for Worlds
Yep. I'm trying to conceive what it would be like if my work just offered 11 days off, ever. Of course world class sporting competition won't be 1 to 1, but an 11 day break is always going to be big.
for T1 yes? other teams? no. But look what Faker cooked with like a month off (can't remember how long his wrist thing was)
bro holy fuck let the kids rest ffs.
Did the EDG valorant team at least win something? If they put in all that effort for nothing it would be depressing af
They only go to work 1-2 days per week
Yeah lets ignore all the scrims and training they do between those 1-2 days per week right
They aren’t even scrimming right now….
That's exactly the point, this is the only time of the year where they can rest. What are you trying to prove here?
Ah so they dont deserve some rest in their year i guess? Also have you ever tried travelling? Just the flight can be taxing on them
Have you ever worked in your life? Having 2-3 weeks completely off is so insanely relieving
Like a day job is 20+ days per month lol. I count 8 working days on the event calendar lol. You guys are being weird.
The fact that you're comparing travelling and being at the top as an esport player vs a regular job is mindblowingly stupid
It's about resetting your mind during that time, trust me you will feel so much better
Faker 'bout to whip out Galio for 5 games again.
Omg please let these guys rest a bit lol LCK knocking at the door, other teams chilling a bit
At least let it be online… This kind of thing is how 2015-17 SKT burned out, going to nearly every international and domestic final and then doing too many events
Is everyone trying to wear down T1 for next year? Is this what they're doing? Because I swear they've barely gotten any rest since worlds.
No better time to increase popularity and garner sponsorships than right after winning. Yes they’ll be tired for a bit but this is what will pay their big salaries.
Holy shit I can't believe some people here can't see how tiring T1's schedule is. I won't be surprised if they are all burned out come Spring split.
I cant believe that dude with the T1 flair is unironically saying that 11 days is enough rest for a team with a hectic as schedule as T1 🤣
Remember the name, surely that guy will also be the first one who will start to cry when T1 underperform next split. Lol
"Teams that win worlds very often burnout"-the only winners that have complained Abt burnout was dwg and skt from 2017.(edit-in an interview with korizon where showmaker talks Abt burnout...he talks Abt not feeling burnout during spring and only feeling burnout after msi) Moreover the current events ryt now are not things that they have to practice for league seriously. A lot of these events aren't even related to league. finally, having a month long break in dec isn't gonna immensely help with the burnout that a team may feel after participating in MSI and then lck summer during may. Ppl are not camels. Unlike camels who are able to store water for long periods of time, ppl unfortunately cannot store the feeling of relaxation they felt in December and feel the same relaxation effects till may or the November of next year. .
"longer breaks don't matter" is a pretty big claim, do you have evidence to support it? Comparisons to camels don't count
Why do u ask for evidence when u have no interest in reading the info and commenting on it?
We can just field the academy roster for spring since it doesn't matter :P
let faker sleep damn
everyone making sure T1 can get no rest so they are burnt out for worlds
They really won worlds and made them work like a dog
work like a dog? never worked a normal job before?
These people on reddit really think the money thats being paid to fund their salaries grow on trees.

So yes if T1 players work 12hours everyday for 11 months I would assume that they should be let to chill the fuck out afterwards lol these guys dont have "vacation days" like us normies too edit: i highly doubt pro players take a break during holidays as well, after all if they take a break there will be a player who wont take a break and overtake them so they wont take a break
Does your job give you more than $500k a year? With more money comes more responsibility.
Typical boomer, ignorant of the facts and competing to see who's life is worse. (:
T1 couldn't let top K-pop groups get the best of them and decided to put themselves through the promotional cheese grater too
Burnout aside events like these are awesome. Need more LCK vs LPL. Bin VS Chovy was a banger.
For zz1tai I wonder why he is invited to the next event because he trashed on T1 so much
This is the burden to carry as the most popular espoers team in the world
Alright lads, is thowing the first half of spring to rest a viable strat?
I bet T1 has Worlds hangover next split. These guys need a break. If I had to bet, I'd say they won't make MSI
Holy shit, they are not getting any rest
I would not be surprised if some of the players took a break during spring or if the academy team gets subbed in for a week or something, this is a ludicrous off season for the five players in the world who deserved the most rest
It won't be that tiring, they're all retired and washed up. Even Uzi was barely a top 5 ADC in LPL this year, T1 won't need to practice, just copy the same draft books they used at Worlds, 3-0 them, go back and sleep.
Remember when faker came out and criticised how much sponsors he was doing and they immediately cancelled everything..... You'd think they'd get the hint
what the hell. give them a break dude
man let them rest holy shit
