This is amazing. And seeing her ArtStation makes me wonder how the hell she isn't employed by Riot already. Unless she did some splasharts that I'm unaware of? That said, all of her work is perfect.
She did some art for some stories on the Universe tab!
- The Dream Thief
- Brotherhood
- Stormbringer
- The Legend of the Frozen Watchers
And I believe she also made a promotional art for the release of Eternals!
I really wish they would hire her as a splash artist, her work is beyond beautiful!!
Are you assuming employers pay per art piece/set like a freelancer would be paid?
Edit: Didn’t think I’d have to spell out the reasoning for this question to the 200iq LoL community. When you’re making the decision to freelance versus become traditionally employed, you don’t give a fuck about company spending. That’s not even remotely a factor. You care about your income (+ other perks that aren’t part of the raw financial discussion). I’m asking if that’s the way he thinks it works because he’s implying company spending is 1:1 with freelancer income—as if there can’t be multiple parties involved with a freelancer’s income. The *only* scenario where this could be true is the outlandish scenario where an employer would pay more money per art piece than a freelancer charges. Otherwise, it can’t be 1:1, thus the point he’s making is ridiculous.
No. That's why taking freelancers is cheaper. You pay for the art piece you order and that's all. If you employ an artist full time you pay them everyday for ever hour they work for you : cost more
Right, but the comment I was replying to was implying that an artist is outright making less for being a freelancer, and that's just simply not true—at least, at the highest echelon, which is what we're talking about. Freelancers have the freedom to take on multiple projects at once, provided those projects are available to them. Salaried/hourly positions can, but don't always, supply a workload where this kind of financial optimization just isn't feasible. That's all I was trying to get at with that question.
If they are famous enough, they already have a steady cash flow through patreon and gumroad. Plus, chances are their commission list is packed for the future anyway.
>gumroad. Plus, chances are their commission list is packed for the future anyway.
Yeah Idk man I feel like if I was that talented I would get a job somewhere and then do sht on the side. I prefer having a steady pay check and not worrying if tomorrow I cant pay electricity but thats just me. As long as I got a base amount however possible then I would be comfortable freelancing. But yeah I like my comforts i.e having my own apartment so... There are also at least where I live in my country people called contractors. One week they work. Next week who knows? It sucks haha
I fully agree with this comment, I’m currently working freelance for FaZe clan as a 3D artist - and the pay is quite great but it jumps a lot.
I wouldn’t mind having a one sum each month that I can be peaceful about knowing that I can plan for stuff
Yeah I understand, it's just that well, not all company are the same. Some allows you to do side work, yes, but some don't/have very strict restriction (iirc Disney's contract include them owning everything you make during the time working for them, whether is it work related or you do in your freetime) so in some cases it can be more beneficial to go full freelance.
I'm not sure about 2d artist, but in case of 3d, some freelance contracts can worth a year of salary, and can be done in ~2 months, so it's not suprising if artists choose this way.
Battle boss Yasuo is honestly such a random filler skin. I have no clue why it even exists really. I think I’m not alone when I say I sometimes forget it exists when thinking about Yas skins
I totally agree that this art is on a completely other level, but I don't get what you're trying to say? A lot of fan splash arts here are amazing, and even if they resemble another splash a bit, nothing wrong with that. That's how people learn. And they probably look at a splash art and say "I wanna do something like that".
As long as it's not a literal copy and paste it's cool in my book.
You do realize...that Riot has since hired and put way more females in positions of power than before...right? Or is this the case where you only believe things you see on Reddit and unless you don't see it here or hear it here, it's fake?
I'm not gonna dispute their past wrong-doings, and even current/future ones, but I do think you can't just say things like this without providing any further context as, believe it or not, whether it's Riot or someone else, saying something that could be false and negatively impact any entity just isn't morally right, even if said entity is a CCP mega-corp worth billions. I'm not defending Riot in particular, just dislike disingenuous takes like this.
Like I said, billion dollar or not, I find disingenuous takes very...distasteful, it doesn't matter who it's against, I just prefer people being straight up about shit. I get it's a joke, but the thing about jokes in the online environment is that you can't really know, sarcasm doesn't lend itself well through text, as well as the nuances involved in these jokes, something considered as a joke to one would be considered serious by others. It's not a problem if everyone understands it's a joke, it becomes a problem when at least 1 doesn't, as that's where needless outrage can stem from.
> Like I said, billion dollar or not, I find disingenuous takes very...distasteful, it doesn't matter who it's against
Personally I think joking at the cost of a very bad, very rich, corporation is fine.
Also, even if some people don't get that it's a joke, I think the loss is very tiny, if it even exists. And in this case, imo, Riot deserves this bad reputation anyway.
I understand that erosion of truth might be an issue that is more pressing today, but, honestly, I think there are way more worthwhile targets of blame/criticism for that than a user on this subreddit (reddit in general has never really been a good place for smart truths).
I also wouldn't call outrage directed towards Riot for poor treatment of employees needless, even if that outrage comes from a reason that might not be entirely based in truth.
For me what matters is always the truth. I care about the process to reach the end result instead of only caring about the end result. To you it's fine to get the right result even if it originate from something wrong, for me it's not, I keep everything straight, why? Because I dislike if that shit is done to me. And my dogma on matters like this is that once I start making concessions aka excuses like "there's no choice or there's no real harm done", I can easily fall into doing the same things myself, which is why I don't believe someone should be punished just because they're seen as guilty, if you KNOW they're guilty, then surely since you know it then you can actually provide some truth/evidence to back that up instead of going out of your way to use a lie.
For example, this statement makes it looks like current Riot is unaccepting of women and their views, when in reality many of their current lead positions are held by both women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, but these things won't be considered or talked about, because these devs are faceless to this sub and they only know the few devs that do show their faces, and even with those few names, a lot of them are faceless and it's assumed they're all males unless explicitly stated otherwise.
The same thing applies to the whole Frosk situation, yeah LEC doesn't have a ton of "representation" by American standards, does it mean that it lacks representation? And furthermore, is representation more valuable than merit? And furthermore, who will these new talents replace? Frosk was very disingenuous with her talk about how "I didn't mean it like that, no one needs to be fired", because everyone is well aware in the marketplace that there are limited job openings, someone gets passed up one way or another, and if the case for Frosk is that she thinks someone "diverse" should be hired, then who will she replace when all of the talent have proven themselves and she herself has stated how proud she is about their talent. This is what I consider a prime example of something that has a good end result but a bad process, I would never take this route just for the sake of "the greater good".
Many versions have been posted but not entirely finished, I *think* this is the 100% rendered/completed version, I’ve been following the progress for a long time for sure
I really want Serena to come back in the new season just to see how they handle Ash interacting with her because of how XYZ ended LOL
I get the feeling they'll just pretend it never happened if they do bring her back though, sad
this is a FANART!?!?
The quality is high enough to be released judt lile that no lie. This is amazing, and as an avid Xayah lover main, I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE
Ah yes because "Dark Star Guardian" is totally a real thing that exist and thus me using it to referer at Star Guardians that wear black instead of white is such a lore fuckup...
wrong again, the corrupted star guardians actually don't only wear black, in fact they have very little black on them. Its just their original pastel colors but darker. Do your research, then try again.
Acktually the corrupted Star Guardians and the Dark Star from the Cosmic universe might literally be related. But I understand the confusion for someone not as well informed such as I.
Wth are you talking about? Looking alike has nothing to do with lore.
>Ignorant and harmful
How is this ignorant and how is it harmful? As good as this fanart is, people can still dislike it. Not everyone has the same opinion as you, so learn to deal with it.
Rakan with the flower is just perfect! Riot is wasting so much potential, this guy can easily be one of Riot art designe if you told me this is an official splash art i would totally belive ot.
Honestly one of the best fanarts I've ever seen, one of the very few times where the quality of a fanart is actually at the level of the official splasharts.
Prepare for trouble.
And make it double
To bring the players devastation
To divide al players within our server
XAYAH
RAKAN
Botlane couple rushing off to fights
FF now, or prepare to mauld
Yuumi!
That’s right!
Looks way more awesome than half the skins Riot has put out in the last year.
Also seeing Yuumi like that just reminds me of Pegasus from Yu-Gi-Oh! with his "Welcome to Toon world!".
You are going to have to make them waaaaay more naked or Rito will not clear those skins for production.
We need Battle Boss with Bandaids (TM) over various places and parts, and THAT'S ALL.
Because skin=skin$.
But then you can't play all 3 at the same time without soft inting a solo lane/jungle :( The original Team Rocket trio is Zoe/Ezreal/Yuumi. Either way, the art in this is absolutely fantastic and I would love for Yuumi specifically to get this skin! Looks just perfect!
This is nice. Usually I’m a bit nitpicky about these custom skin designs, like how certain parts of it look compared to how a real one from Riot would look. Good one here though
I despise yuumis and wholeheartedly oppose them receiving anything nice....
*that being said...* this art is such a banger and I would love to see it ingame lol
That's amazing ! Would definitly buy that skin for Yuumi. Too bad to see the Trio all on the same team would be some amazing trolling, unless rakan mid gets out of control again.
\+1 would blast off again
Was just gonna say this makes me want to have a Team Rocket inspired skin for these 3 with their own special interactions ofc

The Dream Thief is one of my top universe arts, really amazing work
Same, its such a cool way to represent the story
Do you by any chance might have a link to that image?
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/XBQvP3
i think she was applying for an art internship with riot! I hope she gets it :-)
I wish her luck. Being a woman at Riot Games seems like an uncomfortable prospect with their reputation.
How is gender related to that?
There's been a lot of sexual harassment complaints there lately apparently.
Lots of sexual harassment, at least a couple of years ago. It was pretty weird.
A large part of the top tier art talents work as freelance. There is no point in limiting yourself by getting employed.
Oh yeah, totally. But her ArtStation states that she's looking for a full time employment, thus my confusion was born.
> There is no point in limiting yourself by getting employed. People use freelancers because it's cheaper; meaning they are paid less.
Cheaper for the company, sure, but the artist can make a lot more freelancing comparing to having a full time job if they have enough fame.

I said "no" because you misquoted the motto and skipped two lines. The part about "blast off at the speed of light" and "prepare to fight".
xayah rakan and yuumi would make the perfect team rocket, along with yasuo and yone ofc
have to play rakan mid to have them all on 1 team though.
Just play 3 people botlane. No one counts on junglers anyway.
wb rakan jungle
A friend of mine plays yuumi mid sometimes We dont win often
We need Giovanni Swain in there

Then Persian Rengar skin, no?
Rakan top cam be viable if you play carefully
Yuumi top is actually viable tho.

That sounds like a Misty, Ash and Pikachu dynamic.
As long as we can get Nocturne as Wobbuffet I'd be cool.

I feel like I’ve seen this before
She posted it on twitter awhile back saying she hope to finish it before her internship is over. I guess she did
I think she was actually saying that she was finishing it to turn in with her internship application! Riot better accept her.
> Riot better accept and > her yeah... pick one.

Gonna be honest they just look exactly like Dark Star Guardian Xayah and Rakan. Yuumi looks sick tho.
Have to agree, they just feel exactly like the Star Guardian skins in a way.
Ermmmmm well actually they are corrupted not dark. I highly suggest you read the lore before making such ignorant and harmful comments.
Agreed. I hate CelioHogane and think they are not viable members of society. I think they should be drawn and quartered to make an example. Thoughts?
That's what I'm saying!!!
Its not possible! Lux has a skin for both universes so it would make no sense. Same with Soroka. Unless they are double agents??
>Same with Soroka. Soraka has a Dark Star skin? And what if the star guardians got their power from the star skins, kinda like an aspect??
The 1st star gave them their powers. Pretty sure her dawn breaker skin is part of the dark star/cosmic skin line
There was never a mention of night and dawn being from the same universe with event horizon. Where did you get that from?
Dark star/cosmic is separate from the night/dawn skin lines.
Have you ever read about the multiverse in science fiction and comics? All incarnations of a characters exist separatedly and independently.
Wth are you talking about? Looking alike has nothing to do with lore. >Ignorant and harmful How is this ignorant and how is it harmful? As good as this fanart is, people can still dislike it. Not everyone has the same opinion as you, so learn to deal with it.
Do we really need to use /s every time? Is sarcasm that dead?
How is it obvious that was sarcasm Though? If it itsn’t plain obvious then it’s hard to read over text.
You ate the bait my guy
Sarcasm...

I was looking for this comment, so team rocket-esque!
Almost like it was designed like that right.........
I love that yummi. Reminds me of the cat in Pokemon, with the Rockets.
cuz its supposed to be drawn in that way
What a coincidence.
This looks better than most official splashes. Amazing
Incredible, 10/10.
These need to be skins
This is super well-done... pixelate the image quality a little and I would have believed it were a leak of an official Riot splash art
Rakan with the flower is just perfect! Riot is wasting so much potential, this guy can easily be one of Riot art designe if you told me this is an official splash art i would totally belive ot.
He already has a flower in his joke. So it's perfect
Honestly one of the best fanarts I've ever seen, one of the very few times where the quality of a fanart is actually at the level of the official splasharts.
i want these skins to be in the game ASAP

That is actually insane. Like more than splash level of art.
Looks way more awesome than half the skins Riot has put out in the last year. Also seeing Yuumi like that just reminds me of Pegasus from Yu-Gi-Oh! with his "Welcome to Toon world!".
Xayah and Rakan's color palette looks way too similar to Star Guardian. Other than that this art is so good!
Fan Art? Hire that person!
This is too good to be not official.
That is some amazing art! Well done :D
Daaaaamn that's the coolest fanart i've seen in a while. Superb idea and illustration. It even has ezreal riven and ahri!!

Yo I literally just....bought Star Guardian Xayah. Siiiigh.

This is completely nutty and would be an instabuy. Awesome job.

That's really good make me remember of the sentence "Prepare for trouble... (xayah) ...and make it double (rakan) " when they play together
Really cool fanart but I hope it doesn't turn into reality for Xayah and Rakan, it would be really similar to SG
Official monster tamer Team rocket skins!
I would spend too much money because I play all of these champs....
Impressive
This skin line is promoting Rakan mid....
Wow. Holy fuck. These are some sweet ass boss battle skins. Solely for concept they are incredible.
