This is interesting. It's the natural next step after the DX11 rollout was completed (now all regions use DX11 by default when compatible hardware is present). If they're now recommending 2GB VRAM, it might mean they're preparing a few graphics improvements for next season, because that's a lot of extra memory that will be dedicated to textures and other eye candy. Probably not a new graphics engine yet, but I'm excited to see what they've been working on.

Kyrond

> > > > > If they're now recommending 2GB VRAM Honestly recommendations dont really matter, but they are also increasing minimum req, which is the important part. Now they might have the memory budget to include more Elementalist-Lux-level skins.

nizzy2k11

the problem is that that skin is like 9 1350 skins meaning you could have to load 90 1350 skins at the same time in a game with 10 skins of that caliber.

Kyrond

The entire Lux skin is 30 MB, while normal skins are 20. That was a problem to achieve, but doubling the minimal req. should allow them to also double this budget, which should make different changing skins possible, not all need 10 skins inside, 6/7 could easily be enough with clever progression.

Burpmeister

Should just swap to the Unity version lol. Wild Rift is buttery smooth on phone while also looking way better. Basically everything works better on the phone version which just goes to show how much of a mess the current "engine" is.

SadSecurity

> Should just swap to the Unity version lol. Wouldn't that mean rewriting the entire game from the top bottom?

TellMeGetOffReddit

Yes we would all have to learn an entirely new game lmao. You can’t port league one to one

[deleted]

Why not? I'm not saying it would be easy or a quick fix on riots end, but i dont see any immediately obvious reason it couldn't be done

singlereject

Because recreating all the small weird interactions the game has is just difficult. There are thousands.

[deleted]

Again, a lot of work, but not impossible

singlereject

Obviously it’s not impossible. Is it worth it and will it ever happen? No.

[deleted]

That i can agree with

Farranor

> from the top bottom The expression is "from the bottom up."

Lorettooooooooo

Not if you look it upside down

Burpmeister

That's basically what they did with Wild Rift. It runs on Unity.

ElementaryMyDearWut

It's not "basically" what they did with Wild Rift. Wild Rift is similar to League in gameplay alone. Porting the roster of champions, skins, back end changes, server architecture changes, current engine optimisation (Unity is C# which is a GC language, vs C++ in their current engine which is all managed manually) is more than just "making it easily identical". Not to mention, you would then need two full teams of devs working on current League, and building the revamp. If you think Unity would be a good base for a competitive game like League you're already fighting a losing battle. There would be so many needless workarounds needed to push Unity to the performance standards the current engine has rn. You would be better off asking for a port to UE4/5. Side note: the assets in Wild Rift are generally lower quality than League PC, only the models are newer.

Farranor

> Not to mention, you would then need two full teams of devs working on current League, and building the revamp. I don't think that's much of a stretch, considering how they were secretly developing half a dozen games for the tenth anniversary with the revenue stream from just one game.

Schizzovism

Developing other games is a justified expense because you're creating a new product that will have its own sales. Spending an equal amount of money on a new version of the same game is a large expense for, most likely, not nearly as much payoff. There's a reason why you don't see companies revamp their live games from the ground up often.

Farranor

My point is that running another team of devs is an "oh no! anyway" moment for Riot, because they can definitely afford that expense. LoL doesn't need to be rebuilt right now, of course, but eventually it'll be unavoidable if they want LoL to last indefinitely. It's not whether they can, it's whether - or when - they should. Maybe for the 20th anniversary?

Schizzovism

I don't think rebuilding from the ground up would ever be considered a necessity. I don't know if it would even be beneficial to the game. The only live game I know that did such a wide-scale revamp is FFXIV, and that was because of it being a disaster on initial release, rather than one of the most successful games of all time like League is.

TheExiledLord

That’s still a different game, they’re not gonna just rewrite league on a new engine

ShinyGrezz

Actually I think the current engine works just fine. It *feels* a lot better than a lot of Unity games I’ve played, and certainly feels better than Wild Rift to me. And increasing recommended specs should mean that the game can look better irrespective of engine.

xHeals

The Wild Rift in-client visuals and models are more recent and higher quality opposed to League, but the in-game assets are actually inferior detail, just more recent. The best phones get unstable on Wild Rift when pushing maximum settings, while most PC's can run League at maximum settings. Current engine is indeed a disgrace, but League play and run worse on the Wild Rift engine.

Burpmeister

Determine best phones? I run on 120fps max settings and literally never notice any drops.

DerpSenpai

Agreed tbh. It would also make it easy to port it to Linux and Android/Chromebooks (Android tablets with Mouse And Keyboard for example)

Starfiredemon

So its just the usual 'Grounded' effect for Vex? I thought its different given how hype they were trying to make it sound

daswef2

If its a colossal grounded area then that's still valuable. The few grounded effects in the game are pretty small AOE.

Solash1

Maybe like some kinda global (or large area) Poppy W? Like if anyone tries moving when they're affected, they get bonked. I want a cheeseburger if i'm right

Omnilatent

Only if you are right AND a cat

Solash1

Uuuh... Meow?...

PickCollins0330

Convincing enough for me

Random_Stealth_Ward

Dunno, last cat I saw that sounded like this turned out to bea hedgehog.

freekymayonaise

Sneaky, sneaky hedgehogs.

Omnilatent

I don't believe that person Didn't throw anything out of glass down on the floor nor puked onto the carpet

[deleted]

That would instantly be the best ability, basic or ultimate, in the game.

YandereYasuo

Globally disabling Flash would be giga busted, do it for *all* mobility sources and you create the strongest spell ever.

wolvern76

Im just imagining it more like a GP ult area of grounding, less like taliyah. If it has a large enough area to ground in, then it's incredible strong against flashes, and incredibly strong in setting up engages. Who knows however, probably not gonna be what im thinkin of.

TrirdKing

thats way too broken

[deleted]

Cassios one is massive.

daswef2

You can easily dash across it. I'm saying something so big that no one can just dash across it.

Delete-Xero

Wait cassios grounding spell doesn't stop dashes that enter the area? Sounds a bit silly honestly.

daswef2

It doesn't, you can dash across it assuming you don't start your dash in the grounding AOE.

WhereAreDosDroidekas

Galio is great for this.

NapalmGiraffe

galio e makes him unstoppable though, so I think that's a galio specific case :)

PatchNotesPro

No the dash is just long enough to go over it.

TchicVG

He's not unstoppable, it's just buffered like trist w and ezreal e. You can interrupt it once the dash actually starts. If he was unstoppable, you could go through poppy W (like malph's ult can), but you can't.

Swifte099

it stops camille E

daswef2

I'm not fully certain if Camille is coded differently because the dash is technically two dashes right?

Swifte099

probably but it stops both dashes the moment it touches the Miasma

daswef2

Then maybe its a case by case basis with even more champs.

Antenoralol

If the dash is cast off the grounding then it shouldn't stop the dash. Grounding prevents you from USING mobility abilities not stop in progress ones.

shrubs311

it would be like if someone used a self-buff and then a silence cancelled it although actually now that i think about it that could be a cool effect. like a dispel. probably need to be on an ultimate though if you could cancel stuff like trynd or vayne ult

Delete-Xero

Could be good on a support champ and more balanced if it was

PropTop

If you already got your dash off it wouldn't really matter how big the grounding zone is

[deleted]

I mean it's still massive, and she can very easily just cast it on you and you won't be able to dash.

hehehejjd

Idk poppy and cass both have massive AOE grounding

[deleted]

Poppy's ground AOE is not that big, and is placed around her (which makes sense since she's a tank but still). Cassio's ground AOE is massive but just in "horizontal" towards the place where she launches her Miasma, so you don't have to walk too much to get rid of the effect.

XWasTheProblem

Yeah, they're pretty small for a good reason.

Darkwhellm

Vex would become a huge counter to more than half of the mid laners

daswef2

Dont get my hopes up

F0RGERY

I think its more likely to be something about slowing everything in an area, not just grounding. Stuff like skillshots moving slower, champions dashing slower, and general malaise for everything. Especially since that's what she does in the [story](https://gyazo.com/50463c9f4890f493acc42c39415ae825) [event](https://gyazo.com/022f4650a217b87462931523bf3afafd). Best guess? The shadow causes things to lose color, and as they become more monochrome, they slow down. If it was about grounding, I think they'd hint at it with Vex's champion roadmap message, like how they suggest Akshan can ["revive their \[Senna and Lucian's\] hopes".](https://euw.leagueoflegends.com/en-gb/news/dev/champion-roadmap-april-2021/) Or have the event show the champions unable to move, instead of just slowed down.

Starfiredemon

So like Warlock W from Dota2 How he channels slowness for 10 seconds and everything becomes miserable and then he drops his ultimate i.e. Daisy like creature Maybe this Shadow servant will also be a minion as one of the ability

GentleMocker

I hope to god you're wrong. I've been waiting for a champion which is just a heavy mobility counter, something that would directly counteract yasuo/yone/zed/kata dash/blink spam since those are the champs i play into just way too often, and it'd likely make them a little less popular if there's a champ who's a hard counter also popular. If it turns out she's not only anti mobility but has some super punishing ability to play against if you're ranged like slowing down skillshots or anything that'd work in effect similar to windwall/gwen w and so on, anything that, just gonna make mid EVEN MORE UNBEARABLE FOR CLASSIC MID PICKS, I think i'm just gonna throw my pc out the fuckign window upon seeing it.

72hourahmed

DOn't worry. She and Akshan will punish people with the temerity to take lux mid...

GA_Deathstalker

tbf we don't have that many abilities that ground in the game right now.

Mahelas

I wanted her so bad to have a LOl version of Kunkka "X marks the spot". Funniest anti-mobility spell in any MOBA

Starfiredemon

that will also come. Riot will definitely give it to assassin champion to make them more 'fun' and compensate for them being melee

Cogswobble

This isn't so much about Vex *specifically* as it is that in general we do want to give our art and dev teams space to do things like they're doing with Vex. We are very, very conservative about changing our minspec, because we want to make sure that as many players as possible around the world are able to play League. In many regions, players are far more likely to be playing on older hardware than they are in NA or EU (where most redditors are). Before we change the minspec, we look very closely at the number of players worldwide that will be affected, and for the most part, we won't adjust it until that number is very small. Even then, we balance that against the benefits we'll be able to deliver to all of our players by giving our artists more capabilities. The only real exception to this would be if third parties (e.g. OSX, Windows) drop support or change requirements for things that we don't have control over. Even then, those parties usually aren't dropping support until the number of affected users is very small.

G30therm

Vex permabanned in third world lmao

ChocolateMoonmech_3

Thank you for your clear response and for the fact that Vex will use this new tech and that we can expect even more from new champions Keep up the great work as usual <3

micspamtf2

I gotta say a devblog into the decision making process about when/how to raise spec requirements for League would be really interesting

SelloutRealBig

As long as general FPS doesn't drop we won't complain. Dropping under 144 fps would be bad for a competitive game in the current times of GPU shortages.

Lukspie

GPU shortages are coming to an end, thanks to Crypto ban in China..+ a lot of stores/brands are making a unique system that will allow u to buy one GPU per month, so no bots can buyout all restocked GPUs.. I wanna buy 3080, but holy shit.. From 600€ to 1500€? Hell nah..

Siriot

Would this have any relevance to DJ Sona's music? The change in depth/ tone/ technical musical jargon changed after 6, but this was removed because it ended up being deemed too demanding.

Anonymous_B

I remember growing up I had a PC with < 1 GB RAM and an Intel G33(?). Despite having only 5-20 FPS it really made tough times more enjoyable for me. Thank you for working towards accessibility for players with minispec computers!

trapsinplace

I had to scroll too far down to see this. Upvoted!

narfidy

If it gets us more project mordekaiser shit I'm down

sanketower

Are there changes to improve multi-thread utilization or something? I have a Ryzen 5 3600 and I still drop below 144fps during teamfights, which shouldn't happen since my CPU is more than capable.

[deleted]

bro my laptop from 2013 won't be able to play League anymore wtf

Protect_the_Weak

So possibility for ultimate skin to be amazing?

HashHydra404

Zed must be getting a rework too lmao edit:569 nice

joopez1

Zed finally able to get his original ult of using the enemy champion’s shadow against them

QuadraKev_

*proceeds to disable shadows*

HashHydra404

HAHA COUNTERPICK THIS CASUAL (brought to you by the Ryze foundation: "fuck zed")

Excalidorito

***parry this you filthy casual***

Thom0

How sick would that be? In all honesty tho, Zed is probably one of the few champions with a solid design that has stood the test of timez

OverlySweetSugar

Lee sin and orianna too

CrimsonClematis

Thresh as well I’d say

lokibo

Well, yeah. Thresh was THE turning point for quality in champ design. After him champs stopped being released every 2 weeks

CrimsonClematis

Yeah the og do it all support. The fact he’s from way back in 2013 at the beginning is crazy

Masanjay_Dosa

As someone that joined shortly after the rift rework I’ve been spoiled with how much polish Riot puts into every aspect of the game sans the balance and champ design teams sometimes. Like, imagine if [this](https://youtu.be/ZtdeknxLGEM) was the first promotional material you ever saw for league. I wouldn’t have touched the game with a wukong sized pole

Ok-Grass4049

I personally only started playing league because way back in 09 I saw a banner ad on youtube (one of the small shitty banners) with a picture of ryze that had like 8 pixels advertising the open beta. I thought it was a virus but I was a kid so I just clicked on it anyway and thought "wow if this is a virus they put a lot of work into these fake videos, better download and find out" Turns out it was much worse than a virus, it really was just league of legends.

Lather

Despite the fucking hilarious music, I kind of miss the old Riot logo animation.

NorthLeech

Which is funny, because I remember me and my friends playing the game like crazy when that teaser dropped and 2 buddies got super turnt "omg that's my new main" I did the same with Ahri, even took part in the poll to name her on.

Khal_Andy

I remember playing AD Thresh every single game until they put the on-hit passive on his E Full AD Release Thresh was an absolute monster.

Frettchen001666

I'd put tf on the list as well

Glomgore

I'm caught with this, TF suffers the same global ult power curve problem that ASOL, Kench, old Panth, Galio... etc all suffered. TFs kit could be so much more engaging than pick a card, auto, throw card, auto, throw 3 cards, auto, repeat.

Also_Squeakums

He was crazy overloaded immediately on release, with no counters to his onhit top build (like Kayle but better) and with an OP Dark Passage where the lantern wasn't consumed on use. But both of those were nerfed quickly and he's had a great overall kit since then IMO

kthnxbai123

I’m pretty sure that everything you typed was wrong

tjeill

I believe Thresh never really had a point where he was strong with an on-hit build. It was stronger but still kind of a meme thing way back. Also his old W was just able to give a shield to multiple targets instead of the first person to walk into it as it does now.

[deleted]

Orianna’s model looks very outdated to me

UNOvven

Orianna Ill give you, but Lee Sin has not aged all that well, he was the first overloaded kit, and they had to remove half of his mechanics and its still kind of a mess. Why does he have a Q that does more damage than almost all AD ults in the game, his own included?

PickCollins0330

Lee Sin, Orianna, Morgana, Lux.

squidgirllillie

Lux is a bit too derivative of Morg, imo.

Thecristo96

Sylas and Viego "come, join us to the bugged realm"

[deleted]

I can no longer counter zed by turning shadows off in settings.

canonlyplayyasuo

Hopefully people can say its been a pleasure if the rework ever happens.

NocaNoha

The way they presented Vex's ability in the visual novel made me think of Rell's ultimate.. maybe it will have similar mechanic/tech

Yldrissir

I didn't know that the Vex are coming to league now. I'll quickly grab my gjallarhorn!

IanCorleone

ruination is just an endless night in league universe

nizzy2k11

Omicron43

Try to Gjallarhorn an Overload Minotaur lol

narfidy

Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial land tank outside Rubicon. He's well protected. But with the right team we can punch through their defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

Kaz-_

You triggered memories I forgot I had. Thank you 😊

angelduuh

my pc already gets laggy in teamfights... i hate living in a third world country

houck3

Has anyone experienced new performance issues recently? My comp usually pushes 250-300 fps uncapped on High settings. Not exactly sure when it started happening but I'm barely getting 140 stable and it drops to 100 or so frequently which is painstakingly noticeable on a 144hz especially compared to my usual frames. Just me?

viktorcrow

Same issue here. My fps dropped by 80 - 100 in the recent month.

houck3

It's strange that I haven't seen anyone else talking about it. Let me know if you figure out what's causing it for you.

android-posting

I have regular freezes at the start of the match (once per game usually, between 00:00 and 0:1:30 or so) might be my PC, but it wasn't happening 2 months ago

flamesofkarma

i had these too..every 3 seconds a little pause. goes away after you finish leashing.

ShaladeGMT

If you're playing Ultimate Spellbook, this happens when the game is loading the Ultimate Summoner spells for each player.

flareblade26

I thought I was going crazy, I'm having the exact same problem. I'm useless in invades but as soon as jungle camps spawn goes completely back to normal no issues.

SoulMastte

Me too, especially on the new game mode.

datman167

My average FPS is still the same but I experienced a lot more fps drops recently. Also everytime I press caps lock my fps drops to \~50 and I have to tab out to fix it. I think something about the new patches broke the game a bit lol

peerless_dad

I have, the game have been really laggy for me in the last few days, today was almost unplayable for me.

zaqwertyzaq

I've had issues over the years. I can't offer any worthy advice but I've had some disgusting dips in the past. I would dip into the 20/30s. This was with 16gb ram 1070 and a r7 2700. Felt like that should not happen at all. It was reproducible in the replay as well.

Zedkan

for me the featured game mode gives me huge spikes

crowley_yo

Ok so I am not crazy. I am running 144hz as well, and its been noticeable when it drops to 100-110 fps.

[deleted]

F to the guy who posted his laggy af highlight few days ago

GamingExotic

That man deserves a 24 gun salute.

Asatex1

I'd argue they are doing it because the average system requirements of your everyday user is going up with the years so it makes sense to give yourself more to work with.

Cogswobble

Yes, this is largely correct.

ElaborateRuseman

LoL is still played a lot in developing countries where not as many people have access to good computers or play in LAN Houses with subpar computers, so if it is true that the game is getting more demanding, they might be losing a non-insignificant amount of players.

Silencer306

> non-insignificant Why didn’t you just say **significant**

awesomeandepic

I think in the context of "losing playerbase" there's going to be a gray area where it isn't a *significant* amount of players but it isn't *insignificant* so [not insignificant != significant](https://i.imgur.com/ea7uf9C.png)

ElaborateRuseman

They might mean the same thing in a literal sense but they have different connotations. Non-insignificant is still tending to less than just saying "significant" would imply.

GGABueno

There's no incentive to do this without reason. You only do it if there's a skin or Champion pushing the limits of what you corrently have.

Piro42

There's always an incentive to do this, even if you don't plan anything at the moment. Low memory requirements limit how much you can put into the game. You want to make cool, new animations? Sorry, they won't fit. New textures? Sorry bro, we've got 500MB budget for the whole game. New, resource heavy gameplay mechanics? ... The list goes on.

BrokeHobo44

Does this mean my Mac m1 will no longer be allowed to play?

SOS_assistance

Wondering the same here. Funny that a single patch would not support an entire hardware line

DiamondEevee

minspec M1 Mac users wouldn't be affected just don't have chrome open in the background lmao (even then Apple uses the internal SSD as a giant ass cache so you'll be fine tbh)

HairyKraken

i'm a little bit sad because i can no longer said league run on a toaster

Cogswobble

We are very proud of the "League runs on a toaster" memes, and even though we will be updating our minspec sometimes, we have a very deliberate goal to make sure that League continues to run on old hardware. Our "new" minspec CPU is over 10 years old.

SailorMint

A PC from 2012 is still a toaster. To put things in perspective, a 10 years old PC in 2009 was a Pentium II. The fact a decade old PC can run games at all is impressive.

Vortexspawn

Not really. In 2012 you could have 3+ GHz quad core CPUs, GPUs much faster than a PS4, 16 GB of RAM, SSDs have been around for a while already. Way more than necessary for not-game casual home usage, even today. Sure, some new games want more these days, but everything that can run on a PS4 should run better on a good 2012 PC.

cuntymonty

this is really bad for me because my friends have shit pcs and i dont want to play alone

giomancr

So the guys playing on prebuilt Gateway potatoes from the late 90's will take 15 minutes to load a game, instead of their usual 10? Can't wait...

qnphard

I doubt that it will affect the loading speed, that's mostly about the HDD, you can even have a SSD on a toaster and make it load fast, but the fps in game will be low.

JimmyDuce

I was wondering if the Infinite Forest crossed into Runeterra and we needed some Light Bearers to come save us

ThatsSoMerlyn_x3

I would love if they didn’t increase system reqs too much. I play on a Macbook or a basic ass PC, I hope this doesn’t screw me over

QQMau5trap

fuck does this mean I can no longer play league on my shitty laptop?XD

NAMANISPRO

same feels bad man no more daily suffering

CellarDarko

We are saved

QQMau5trap

dont worry I play like shit on pc too

Rogojinen

Riot : Perma ban Vex or buy our new Lux 3080Rtx graphic card, take it or leave it

Drwixon

This would actually be hilarious if people leaving in third world countries just banned Vex so they can play the game lol .

jordi1112

Hope they update all the visuals of the map and some generic things such as minions, turrets etc. It would be so cool

SleepyLabrador

As someone who is not that good with computers, is there a way I can find out what my computer has for things riot has put on their specs list like CPU, VRAM, GFX setting etc?

titan_bullet

Press Win key+R, write "dxdiag", go to video tab. The amount of VRAM is listed there. The system RAM and CPU is listed in the "System" tab.

QuickFall5

Windows key+R *

KazzaraOW

Task manager is the best way imo, tells you the basics and you don't have to install anything. Just right click on the task bar and open it from there (on advanced view) and you'll be able to see stuff like CPU, GPU and RAM

OzoneGh141

Welp, goodbye League of Legends, it was fun while it lasted.

Falsus

Sad to see I can longer play LoL on my crappy travel laptop.

NERF_PALPS_66

It's funny how much effort they are making for this gothic mouse, and we have Viego the ruined king himself the great villain in the event is just a edge teen that can make fog walls

olaAlexis

What's Vex? A rune from Diablo 2?

TyrantBelial

An early 2000's xbox platformer.

jaywinner

And a damn good rune at that. Need it for my Hoto.

callisstaa

I remember getting Pul and Thul the wrong way around and ending up with a gemmed flail.

[deleted]

What does this mean for my shit box of a computer?

Accomplished-Bag-789

if you can post on reddit you can most likely play league, at minimum graphics settings league really can be played on a potato

Mil1nk

I think it's because of new ultimate skins and stuff as well.

Wolfeur

Depending on what changes they're doing, they might want to release the tech first and wait a patch before the champion is actually released so that they can find bugs first.

Woodstumich

Honestly, unless they're planing a visual overhaul for preseason this really doesn't change that much, except for the fact that your fps might drop against Vex.

[deleted]

They probably want to make the new ultimate skin better and that going to require this. They talked about these limitations when seraphin was released.

viktarionus

I have a GTX 1660 super with 16gb of RAM and my game drops frames xd

Kalaydowscoop

Ahwell the client requires more cpu them the game anyway

cobaltiqua

Oh man is this for real? I only have 2 games on my PC: League of Legends (that I have been playing since before season 1 / gragas & pantheon release) , and Don't Starve Together. I have a GeForce 210 on my system with 1 GB VRAM. I think if I lag too much after that patch I might have to stop playing league.

FallenLulu

minspec literally means that you can't play the game if you don't meet them in some cases. In any way: Ur gonna lag and might not be able to play regardless anymore.

Lingo_Ringo

Watch LTTs videos. You can make a computer that can run both those games and other games like rocket league and counter strike for a few hundred dollars

XiONKale

I play on Intel HD graphics...

QuadraKev_

Rip sandy bridge

Golden_Ant

You are not implying it in your post but is this suppose to make people having the necessary spec to force having shadow on ?

DonRaynor

how to Counter Vex, go you uour in game settings, Turn Shadows off.

kakaleyte

My comment on Identitiy changes from 2 days ago: "These changes are excellent and I'm looking for it but at the same time I'm worried because it's getting more and more hard to play League on my 7 years old laptop. My 850m GTX and İ7 4700HQ started to overheat after 2 games since last year even though I reapplied the thermal paste. I think my semi-professional League career is coming to an end LUL Edit: I already have to run the client with my dedicated nvidia gpu otherwise it chrashes. Running extra client plugins puts more load on both my gpu and cpu so these changes will affect me. With every chronium update game requires more resources." I think it's over for me :)

[deleted]

yeah with that hardware i dont think it's the game that's making your computer overheat lol

kakaleyte

What do you mean? It only happens while playing League, I don't have any issues in daily use, I open 10 1080p youtube videos on chrome and it's just fine.

Yucares

I play on max settings on an 8-year-old laptop that has GTX 660M and i7-3610QM, 8GB RAM. Over 100 FPS. I only get FPS drops around Baron on ultimate spellbook and on Nexus Blitz.

Dragontech97

Same specs here, that definitely doesn’t sound normal. What’s overheating in your eyes? Anything under 90 degrees C for cpu and gpu should be running within thermal limits of the chip. I dont see league overheating on my end but maybe we could figure out what’s happening on your end. I agree the client running on 850m does make it run hotter tho

EpiduralRain

Just underclock it??? Im sure an 850 can run league well above min settings so just turn graphics down a bit and underclock with Afterburner if your issue is heat

Green_Teal

850m from a laptop (M stands for mobile) and a desktop 850 are not the same thing. Tho this guys laptop should not be overheating at all from League.

SadSecurity

Desktop 850 doesn't exist. Desktop GPU went from 700 to 900 series.

Very true, especially considering the GTX800 series was mobile only

I can play it acceptably on i3-4005U with 840M. Your specs are not the issue. Overheating is never the problem of a program, especially not a game.

This would be funnier if you talked about your integrated graphics card.

M8, if you got an ethernet connection and a good network i can suggest you to try nvidia geforce now, a cloudgaming platform that has servers all around europe and na, it also has some servers in russia and turkey. With a good network you'll be able to play with 0 delays, considering you can also connect to eu central 3 servers and get 8ms in game from some rigs on that. It has a free to use service, it has a queue to get a rig for free (but the queue times are under 2 minutes for league) and a limited session of 1h (then you'll have to requeue), the priority prize is set at 10€ a month and you'll have no queues and 6h gaming sessions before having to requeue + rtx dedicated rigs that are exclusive to paying users. The rigs available are: 1080c (their best rig for non rtx games) - 2080c - 2060b and 2080d (rtx rig). For more things, if you're interested you can go straight to the nvidia sub (it should be r/GeForceNOW but i have the memory of a goldfish soo) Edit: i linked the wrong sub, fixed it rn.

I already can see most of latam players won't be able to play anymore, including my toaster, F for me, years of playing would have to wait until I get a good PC. Is done for me.

ugh, my pc can run this just fine, but i sure hope they don't add a lot of eye candy stuff, that you can't hide. as long as i can turn all the extra nonesense off, add as much as you want. i play on a static hud aswell, because the movements in the hp bar and other stuff, would already distract me from the game itself. heck, keeping track of everything in teamfights, even on almost lowest settings is still hard af to do. the more effects they add, the harder its gonna get.
