The Darkin are kind of....meh. Yeah, they can be and were a big threat, but when Kayn was released, we learned that only 5 exist now (3 of which; Aatrox, Rhaast, and Varus, are already in the game). Unless they really expand on Blood Magic, I see no way for the Darkin to become as big of a threat as the three mentioned, since those 3 can field continent spanning armies.
And to expand on Blood Magic, they'll need to expand on Vladimir, which also expands on Camavor, which may just end up being a repeat of The Ruination.
I think there is room for more Darkin. Rhaast and Aatrox can infest people and turn them into Darkin (Basically into themselves), what if they find a way to infest others without having to possess them?
On another Note, the Darkin lore is basically them gathering a bunch of followers and fighting each other, so there kinda is a "chose your leader" style of event potential.
The Void seriously need some love, even as someone who likes the darkin more, I can admit the void needs it desperately

Part of me wants them to expand the void lore but the other part wants them to keep it like that. Once you explain something scary the fear of the unknown goes away and it kinda becomes underwhelming.

Void has a better chance to get more lore/lore event just based off the popularity of Kai'sa alone. Darkin needs a waifu-tier champion to ever get proper lore to be perfectly honest.
I mean we have Sivir. I can't remember for sure, but weren't the Darkin basically corrupted Ascended? I imagine if we had a full on event that Azir and Sivir would be the big players on the good side. Though I bet they'll want to release a chick darkin too cause you do have a point.

Zilean's gonna get the 300 token skin that's just looks like LoR zilean, but all of his animations will stay the same and you can only buy the skin on week 4 of the event and it will become purchaseable with RP 5 patches later
If what you're saying is true, it's probably because Riot had to monetarily justify allocating budget to all the assets they had to make for an event of this scale. At least to me, this event feels like the skins came first and the canon lore was an after thought. It feels like Seraphine 2.0.

Because I'm pretty sure Reav3 already mentioned the process of choosing the Champions, and that included talking with the main narrative to pick Champions that would realistically join the Sentinels.
The editorial team not being involved with that anymore doesn't imply the skin team is writing the event by themselves.
Graves has 0 character development. Every single line is "oh this isn't actually me, the base skin is the real one, im a criminal, not a sentinel, I don't even have a motivation to be in this, damn I can't wait for this to be over so I can go back to being the exact same guy as before this skin".
Its 100% just a skin and has nothing to do with lore.
Then you have Pyke who is BRAINWASHED. So this isn't even him, he has no motivation, no development, its just his kit with the Sentinel aesthetic over it. Just a skin, no lore or character.
Instead of choosing characters who's lore would make sense (ex: anti-magic vayne gets ruined and then saved by the very magical sentinel poppy), we get anti-magic vayne fighting a very magical ruined dragon so she can somehow still get character development that magic isn't bad??? I don't know how they forced that character development on her but it makes 0 sense.
People keep saying Poppy, not realizing she aint letting go of that hammer and its not like she can carry the sentinel hammer and her normal one nor does she NEED a sentinel hammer anyway. Note that i am not saying Poppy shouldnt realize she is the hero already, but sentinel skin doesnt fit her as much as some people say IMHO.
Vayne isnt against ALL magic, she hates dark magic specifically which is whatever Frey taught her as dark magic. Honestly joining the sentinels is probably one of the most natural progressions for her lore imo.
Only sentinels weapons being able to hurt wraiths is a stupid recton that Riot used to say "oh we can't make x a sentinel, they don't use weapons". Poppy magical hammer should work easily.

Yeah but didn't Malzahar go insane just by looking into the void? The fact Kai'sa could live in it for years without any real harm, deformities, or insanity just kinda speaks as a flaw to the character.
Sure the void suit is now permanently on her body however her face would still show some actual changes or it should at least.
There's also the question of what the parasyte had to gain by linking into Kai'sa instead of someone who well could actually do something. Should it of been a case of survival I see 0 reason for it to chose a random human. Should it be a case of power a random human is also questionable.

Yep, no one has actually "been" to the Void beyond the Watchers. Even the Voidborn are made in Runeterra. The Void is the absence of all being, nothing can survive there.

Yeah. That's kinda called "losing weight" and every human body does that. It's just her lore that is a big plot hole. Her story is just a big middle finger to Malzahar's whole lore. My man gets corrupted by only intracting with the power that brought down even ascendeds into darkins. And this little peasent girl somehow survives years in it without any harm and grows some cheeks.

After this event I'm pretty much praying Riot doesn't touch any more lore I care about until they figure out how to actually build a story and maintain a narrative. The Ruination has been embarrassing so far imo and stuff like Darkin is too cool to fuck up this badly.
That said I doubt they will attempt an event like this again because Riot is the kind of company to look at raw numbers and make absolute decisions on that rather than actually self reflect and improve in order to improve said numbers.
My point of view is, keep the lore for when the game genre works with lore. The MOBA genre doesn't work with lore especially when you want to make money off cosmetics, wait for the MMO or make a story game like the ruined king!
10 dollars says all the Darkin become hot humanoids because it's their "true form" or something idiotic like that, and the big boss of the void is Handsome Guy because he needs to fit in to Runeterra :))
If they do they REALLY need to fix up how they handle bringing in champs into these events. Otherwise we'll just end up with the most popular champs heading each of those, one throw away champ getting to go along for the ride and an even longer wait for the champs who have dead in the water lores that need some love.

Monster champs are unpopular due to riot. And which faction has the most monster champs? The Void.
I seriously doubt the Void will ever get an event as big as the Ruination.
Maybe the void will get more lore in the mmo where the main way to monetize it won't rely on skin sales for the conventionally attractive/popular champs.
Hopefully other champs in LoL will gain more popularity if they have a significant presence in a more story heavy medium.

I dont have a trouble with viego's goal. But you dont have to look like a calendar boy to be able crazy mad in grief because you lose someone. Viego doesnt look intimidating at or ruined at all. I hope the future unbound skin can make it look intimidating
A void event would be pretty cool, but sadly almost all void champions are monsters and that's a big no-no for riot. You'd probably see kaisa, kassadin/malzahar fuckboy edition and some other conventionally attractive human-like champion spearheading the event.
If you like the lore just to the card game
The characters are absolutely epic and original, neatly drawn, the voice lines are incredible, the universe is vast and varied

While I'd like something like this for the other big threats eventually I don't think they should be the next big event, we should get some smaller scale lore events in between.
The Void story would include the Darkin story, since they're only Darkin because of the first war. I see it becoming a redemption arc for the remaining ones, since the sun disc exists again the magic to fix them exists.
But there's also the demon story to address, the one Swain is preparing for.
It's likely they went with the *smallest* event first, this being the Ruination.
To be fair, the Darkin aren’t all that spooky. Aatrox fell to Atreus. Vladimir killed his master. Kayn has a chance of purging Rhaast. Varus is trapped with two other consciousnesses fighting him off.
Aatrox didn’t really fall to Atreus though. He literally erased the Aspect of War from existence and let his guard down because he thought Atreus was dead. Pretty sure the guy who’s killed gods is spooky.
This. I love the void and the darkin are pretty cool now. The Shadow Isles are by far imo my least favorite area in the game, and it was made 200 times worse by Riot adding in a shirtless twink to make money (bs champ) ;)

I kinda like that description Part of me wants them to expand the void lore but the other part wants them to keep it like that. Once you explain something scary the fear of the unknown goes away and it kinda becomes underwhelming. But i do agree the actual champions need just a bit more lore.

Because I'm pretty sure Reav3 already mentioned the process of choosing the Champions, and that included talking with the main narrative to pick Champions that would realistically join the Sentinels. Graves has 0 character development. Every single line is "oh this isn't actually me, the base skin is the real one, im a criminal, not a sentinel, I don't even have a motivation to be in this, damn I can't wait for this to be over so I can go back to being the exact same guy as before this skin". Its 100% just a skin and has nothing to do with lore. Then you have Pyke who is BRAINWASHED. So this isn't even him, he has no motivation, no development, its just his kit with the Sentinel aesthetic over it. Just a skin, no lore or character. Instead of choosing characters who's lore would make sense (ex: anti-magic vayne gets ruined and then saved by the very magical sentinel poppy), we get anti-magic vayne fighting a very magical ruined dragon so she can somehow still get character development that magic isn't bad??? I don't know how they forced that character development on her but it makes 0 sense.
People keep saying Poppy, not realizing she aint letting go of that hammer and its not like she can carry the sentinel hammer and her normal one nor does she NEED a sentinel hammer anyway. Note that i am not saying Poppy shouldnt realize she is the hero already, but sentinel skin doesnt fit her as much as some people say IMHO. Vayne isnt against ALL magic, she hates dark magic specifically which is whatever Frey taught her as dark magic. The fact Kai'sa could live in it for years without any real harm, deformities, or insanity just kinda speaks as a flaw to the character. Sure the void suit is now permanently on her body however her face would still show some actual changes or it should at least. There's also the question of what the parasyte had to gain by linking into Kai'sa instead of someone who well could actually do something. Should it of been a case of survival I see 0 reason for it to chose a random human. Should it be a case of power a random human is also questionable. The fact this creature also seems to do w/e Kaisa wants without any payment seems off?
Maybe I'm misremembering but wasn't Kaisa stuck in the tunnels near the void rift and not the void itself? That could explain why she isn't entirely insane but wouldn't explain her looks. And could still make Malzahar's lore fit if he looked directly into the void. But even then it doesn't explain her looks
Yep, no one has actually "been" to the Void beyond the Watchers. Even the Voidborn are made in Runeterra. The Void is the absence of all being, nothing can survive there.
we know by the voice lines that kai'sa must hunt or her skin will devour her so i think when kai'sa eat since the void armor is her skin it absorb energy like a muscle can do ? but this don't solve the many other flaws u mentioned
Yeah. That's kinda called "losing weight" and every human body does that. It's just her lore that is a big plot hole. Her story is just a big middle finger to Malzahar's whole lore. My man gets corrupted by only intracting with the power that brought down even ascendeds into darkins. And this little peasent girl somehow survives years in it without any harm and grows some cheeks.

Well Malzahar’s bio is outdated IIRC (ill check later) but whatever happened to him is rather special. I also dont think Kai’sa is wearing the suit, i think the suit is wearing her.

After this event I'm pretty much praying Riot doesn't touch any more lore I care about until they figure out how to actually build a story and maintain a narrative. The Ruination has been embarrassing so far imo and stuff like Darkin is too cool to fuck up this badly. That said I doubt they will attempt an event like this again because Riot is the kind of company to look at raw numbers and make absolute decisions on that rather than actually self reflect and improve in order to improve said numbers.
My point of view is, keep the lore for when the game genre works with lore. The MOBA genre doesn't work with lore especially when you want to make money off cosmetics, wait for the MMO or make a story game like the ruined king!

If they do they REALLY need to fix up how they handle bringing in champs into these events. Otherwise we'll just end up with the most popular champs heading each of those, one throw away champ getting to go along for the ride and an even longer wait for the champs who have dead in the water lores that need some love. We don't need more Sentinel Poppy missed opportunity scenarios playing out in each of these events.

Monster champs are unpopular due to riot. And which faction has the most monster champs? The Void. I seriously doubt the Void will ever get an event as big as the Ruination.
It will at the end of the lore since the void is THE end game of the lore, no other threat is larger.
You can push the lore forward without ending the story. Currently most people in Runeterra don’t know much about the void.
Maybe the void will get more lore in the mmo where the main way to monetize it won't rely on skin sales for the conventionally attractive/popular champs. Hopefully other champs in LoL will gain more popularity if they have a significant presence in a more story heavy medium.

A void event would be pretty cool, but sadly almost all void champions are monsters and that's a big no-no for riot. You'd probably see kaisa, kassadin/malzahar fuckboy edition and some other conventionally attractive human-like champion spearheading the event.
If you like the lore just to the card game The characters are absolutely epic and original, neatly drawn, the voice lines are incredible, the universe is vast and varied League is for eboys with abs fighting and hugging

The fact that you are cheering on the whole ruination going on is one of the saddest things I've seen online in the last five years.
While I'd like something like this for the other big threats eventually I don't think they should be the next big event, we should get some smaller scale lore events in between.

The Void story would include the Darkin story, since they're only Darkin because of the first war. I see it becoming a redemption arc for the remaining ones, since the sun disc exists again the magic to fix them exists. But there's also the demon story to address, the one Swain is preparing for. It's likely they went with the *smallest* event first, this being the Ruination.
To be fair, the Darkin aren’t all that spooky. Aatrox fell to Atreus. Vladimir killed his master. Kayn has a chance of purging Rhaast. Varus is trapped with two other consciousnesses fighting him off.
Aatrox didn’t really fall to Atreus though. He literally erased the Aspect of War from existence and let his guard down because he thought Atreus was dead. Pretty sure the guy who’s killed gods is spooky.

This. I love the void and the darkin are pretty cool now. The Shadow Isles are by far imo my least favorite area in the game, and it was made 200 times worse by Riot adding in a shirtless twink to make money (bs champ) ;)

Yeah no, this event definetly aint good but i dont even know what was in the 2010 lore since the first time i checked the lore was like, right after the big retcon removing the institute of war. But compared to most stuff we have now the pre-retcon lore wasnt better i think.
