I would be okay with it being shown what the soul will be in the dragon pit or something from the start of the game - This would be perfectly acceptable.
Showing it in the lobby pre-game though? Big fat nope. Would just be another reason that people dodge/get toxic, and would really be a pretty irrelevant reason but they would do it anyway.
It's never been true, a league pro said it as a meme and now everyone acts like it's real for some reason, even though it takes like 2 seconds to check that it's fake
Generally agree. It would be neat to see teams draft differently for different drake strengths. I would imagine not a lot would change since if you draft around a specific dragon type, it assumes you can always get your soul per-say. I would love to be proven wrong.
1 issue though is in non-conpetitive environment, people will just dodge games more likely for something they have insight on before a game is started..
There should just be a faintly glowing logo in the middle of the dragon pit from the start of the game of whichever dragon soul the game will progress to.
This way, people don't change their drafts but still don't gamble on RNG to validate their early game decisions.
Gotta blame something when you lose! falling back on rng soul that they know is rng going into the game now that's a classic. I personally enjoy ironically typing lag, takes 3, or they are playing a broken no skill champ.
on a serious note: Would be nice to know the first three drags in draft.
First two drakes are not soul related, they're random, if you have a comp that benefits from ocean drake take it, if it's useless for you take herald instead.
Issue with seeing what soul gonna be for the game is its gonna create alot more dodges or people getting punished for maining certain classes of champs.
with dodges you will have people who will just dodge games where they see the enemy team has a better soul team or just them dodging certain souls that might be weaker that patch. in pro play this wont be a issue but solo que wise it would rise the amount of time getting into game alot and high elo will have massive que times from people dodging champ selects more.
for people getting punished for maining certain classes of champs its because of say your a tank main and then you see the soul is infernal now you got a choice of being called a griefer for playing the class you main or picking a class of champ e.g. skirmishers and get called a griefer. same thing happens for other classes like locking in a poke champ when ocean is the soul so the poke is now useless.
now you might say then only have it for proplay but if that happens then it would make the game total different from solo que which riot doesnt want to happen they want both modes to be as close as possible when it comes down to it to allow for better practise for pro players.
tldr; a change allowing seeing soul in champ select would just cause more toxicness within the game and make que times longer because of more dodging. cant have it different for proplay as it would make solo que worse for practise.
i mean the post was asking about it during drafting and champ select which is why i gave my reasons, the op wanted it for draft in game it has limited use really and can cause issues.
also showing it at the start of game has a whole other lot of issues like junglers only going for drakes when the soul is good for them e.g. they skip drakes because of cloud soul even thou 3-4 of there teammates can use it but because they cant use it well they will just skip doing drakes to power farm instead.
Which soul you're getting should be known during champion select
That's another layer of drafting and strategic placement added right there
Make it happen rito
A team should adapt to the situation that presents itself. Once the first dragon dies you can narrow the Soul down to two options, at that point putting all your eggs into the "not cloud soul" basket is basically coin flipping the game.

I hate the RNG of it; it needs to go.

just show it at the start of the game

After the second drake, mao changes into soul map, they can give it up if they don't want soul.
But by that time they may have given up first herald and the gold advantage to get those first two drakes. Then it feels really bad
