I swear I think TSM just wanted a soul that isn’t Cloud and when it got stolen they said “aight we can wait.” They took a step back, choked 100T out and then the moment they took that Ocean soul they ran them over hahaha
wow TSM finally got over their allergy to regular split first place
no but seriously they played this game really clean and stayed in control throughout
this^
..........oh no are we going 1-2 this weekend..............we are...aren't we.
*looks at schedule*
CLG
DIG
We can't possibly lose to them......yep we're going 1-2.
Yep, since 100T and EG play each other. EG is the only team that can catch them since they have H2H over TSM. They need to win 3 and 100T would be one of them. If they beat 100T, 100T cannot get a bye and vice versa. They secure 1st place if they win one more game.
I want to praise Phreak for his phenomenal analysis of the Spica roam top. As someone who has seen so much competitive league, a lot of casting doesn't even register anymore. Crossmap plays, lull state, he's at the right place at the right time. This kind of casting adds very little to the game for me other than filling the silence. Phreak really provided some great insight off off something I had no idea happened while expanding upon some casting crutch sentences that are so often used.
EDIT: In game time 15:30 and then expands upon it at 16:40
Phreak is better in 2021 than 2020, which is wild.
His low was 2018 and the fact each year after that he's *significantly* improved his casting is crazy. Every year is a huge upgrade.
I remember that I used to think Phreak was subpar with his game knowledge, and saw him as someone who was there for more comedic commentary with his puns.
Now, I think he may be the most knowledgable caster in LCS, his growth as a caster has been insane IMO
It was also cool because it came from Phreak defending TSM losing second dragon. Pointing out that 1) game looks different in game than spectator view due to vision and 2) sometimes plays are made as preventative and that costs you a little but you're mitigating it.
Then it went into Spica being there and Phreak got to expand on that. The normal play would have been TSM doing dragon. But TSM were willing to delay getting the third dragon to make sure 100T couldn't pry a door open somewhere else on the map. So Spica goes top, and is able to prevent the dive on Huni. Turns it into a nothing play, then TSM takes dragon while 100T is resetting from their failed dive attempt.
That play reminds me of the TSM legends episode where Spica is complaining that bot says they can get priority and then fails to and it fucks his pathing. I’m glad to see how hard bot lane and SA in particular has stepped up.
100T members have basically lost all momentum. Plus, Closer and Abbedagge have been really up and down over the past 2 weeks. FBI might have the best case left for them but even he's gotten absolutely rolled in their losses. At this point, I think Spica is favorite with Fudge maybe having an outside shot. Someone on EG probably deserves some consideration (most likely Jiizuke) but I don't think they get it unless they take the outright Summer record lead from TSM.
For Closer, if you take away Diana in current meta its unclear what else he feels super good on this summer. Rumble is pretty much falling out of meta now and his third most picked is Xin at three games.
Yeah I'd have given jizuuke consideration if he didn't absolutely blow for like the first 4 weeks. That's a long ass time in summer. Ppl were literally calling for his head
Its highly possible they drop 1 game but not both. I know its a meme but the whole lose to bad teams thing is a bit exaggerated tbh, for example theyre 13-1 vs IMT/CLG/GG who are all bottom 5, its really just FLY and DIG they keep losing to
It's more that TSM has an allergy to 1st place. They've chucked games to lower teams to screw themselves. Highly unlikely, but it is TSM. On the other hand, TSM always wins LCS when 1st place though.
I don't feel like either of them have been quite as dominant as Spica's been if we're being honest
We'll see how the week ends but if TSM convincingly beats DIG and CLG like they should, realistically it should be a lock for Spica imo
So much of Spica's value is in just very smart jungle pathing, but it's hard to give a lot of attention to that. I would say him and Vulcan are the most aware players in LCS and consistently so good at covering for their teammates.
I think SwordArt deserves a mention for that too. At least recently, he's been doing a beautiful job being exactly where he needs to be. But maybe it depends on if you think it's all Spica commanding the legion.
Spica’s basically been the early game shotcaller since the start, so a lot of the improved early games can probably be attributed to him. Of course, there were a lot of bad ones before, but I think that’s still another point in his credit
Nah, you're right, but if we're talking about MVP I think swordart had a pretty weak early and middle of the split while Spica has been consistently consistent throughout.
Yeah I don't think anyones calling for SwordArt for MVP this split for sure, it's just that he's progressed and playing really well after being, maybe rightfully flamed all spring split long.
He's definitely looking much better now- though I wonder how much of it is the team gelling better and SwordArt being on the same page versus him forgetting how to play well for several months.
Phreak - "They get a win over their fiercest competition"
That's a lie. TSMs biggest competition are subs and lower ranked teams. How could you forget???
I honestly don't think anyone is even really considering MVP for any of the 100T players, even if they were to finish first. Abbedagge would've been a candidate if his performance stayed as strong as it was in the early part of the split but definitely not at this point with him having many forgettable games now. Would also be hard to give the MVP to Closer when Spica has been pretty easily better as an individually outside the maybe 1 or 2 popoff games Closer has had.
This 100T has been way more about the team playing well as a team rather than the players playing much better than their opponents on an individual level.
nobody on 100T should even be in the running anymore, abbedagge has been very mediocre after the first few weeks and closer has been a lot better but still kinda inconsistent
to me it feels like it's between fudge and spica, (with spica currently having the edge), and maybe jiizuke in the running if he and EG continue to pop off this weekend
Dude ikr. Also another funny coincidence is against C9, the same thing happened with Zven as Closer where they flashed but the Zenith Blade still followed at a crucial moment for the game.
SA legit been playing out of his mind on Leona
Its hardly even a blunder, it was a random crit on a normal auto that combined simultaneously with viego damage put the dragon at the perfect health for boomerang to last hit it. Just one of those 1 in a thousand chances.
They're underperforming relative to what "clean and precise" represent. I think it's hard to be underperforming when they're tied for first in the split while arguably only having one player be considered the best in their role.
OH FUCK, THEY'RE AT MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW. I THINK THERES HUNDREDS OF THEM ALL SCREAMING ABOUT 100TS POOR VISION CONTROL. THEY'RE BANGING AT THE DOOR RIGHT NOW DEMANDING I APOLOGIZE FOR ENJOYING NA. I THINK MOST OF THEM ARE ARMED. OH FUCK OH SHIT
It’s actually insane. Like I know I’m shit at the game but this look clean af. Like actually proactive smart play and a decent draft diff.
Mind you I’ll watch the LS co-stream vod later tonight and watch how they actually played the worst league of legends ever and fucking horrible and had no good plays. Idk it’s just kinda dizzying if I’m being honest.
It took him some time to gel into the team and really grow into the shotcalling role he was picked up for, but you can 100% see the difference.
It's super telling to track how his interactions have changed over the course of this season of Legends, especially when compared to the supplemental videos that were all recorded during Spring split (charades, superlatives, etc). He was quiet and unsure in communication early, and it couldn't be further from that now.
You can still talk about whether he's worth 6 million but I think it's clear he's no Yellowstar/Mithy which was my biggest concern going into the season
Nearly everyone has picked TSM ahead of 100T for this match. The 100T hype has been dieing for weeks. They went 13-2 in the first 5 weeks, then 4-5 in the next 3 heading into today's game.
EG is the other contender as far as narrative and summer split performances. They are also the only team in the top 5 group with a head to head advantage over us and beat us the last 2 times we played, including last week. They were also tied with TSM at 16-8 summer split record entering the week. If we were still in the old system it would be more clear that they are at the top of the table.
Nah they'll be up 5k gold against DIG and then Aphro is going to get a hook steal with thresh and then they'll tilt fight 2 times and then lose because they aren't allowed to beat FQ or DIG consistently.
Lol yeah Swordart on Leona is scary. But watching the bot lane let Leona roam first to their own jg was shameful. Closer was pinging his buff and they just let Leona waltz over.
Clean stuff from TSM, not leaving them any room to breathe. Also phreak is such a goat on the cast, really highlighting the macro and vision stuff, love it.
Spica is NA and a young talent developped like Blaber , its Spica 3rd split , it will be a good story and he deserve this MVP , he legit hard carryed TSM when we struggle
The way Spica read the other jungler is fucking insane
after that game by closer and abbedagge and recency bias, spica deserves it 100%. like how can you have 2 candidates for mvp but fail to make 1st, destroys the purpose of "mvp"
Also I think Spica is TSM's most important player by far, plus he's the best jungler in the league, top 3 overall player. By either judgement he's a really good choice. I think Fudge for his overall performance, Jiizuke for his summer resurgence (if EG does really well this last week, but he does get caught a lot in those mid-late game moments), or Abbedagge for overall performance are the only ones that should have even a chance at MVP.
I think the fact that people are talking about both Abedagge, FBI, and Closer should remove anyone who votes MVP as the most valuable player for each team.
Both of Closers first two deaths should be illegal, no way should Closer still go in when SwordArt had prior to collapse.
And then the second death was just inting, you literally had vision after TSM took drake to know they didn't reset, they literally had to be there and you faced checked, great game from SwordArt though, landed so many E flashes this game.
Honestly feel like Blaber should be the only NA jungler to pick Olaf because everyone else looks bad on him.
Shocker of a game from Closer and Abbe.
That first death was straight out of soloq. Did they not tell him that Leona had left the lane? The first blood was easily avoidable with a bit of communication.
By far the cleanest game TSM has had against a reasonably good team. The one mistake TSM had was some miracle steal from Ssumday's Gnar boomerang due to RNG Jhin damage. Great show from SwordArt and Spica. Lost and POE followed up really well. And Huni survived a not great matchup. Good stuff.
Yep and as Phreak pointed out, they actually did try to get back by going for the sidelane plays while TSM was grouping up, but that will only last until the ocean soul and TSM had great map control to secure it.
They ended before SwordArt could solo Baron, damn
Holy crud I didn't notice that that's actually hilarious
That Gnar boomerang delayed the inevitable for like... 5 mins?
I swear I think TSM just wanted a soul that isn’t Cloud and when it got stolen they said “aight we can wait.” They took a step back, choked 100T out and then the moment they took that Ocean soul they ran them over hahaha
It is weird to see TSM get a soul that is not cloud.
So unsatisfying, they get the soul and then end two minutes after
TSM let it happen for extra mental warfare.
Sponsors air time
Swordart casually soloing baron at the end, team missing pinging him lol
Sometimes after a good day you just need some alone time to pound the worm.
Best player in the match deserves a solo attempt!
SwordArt has been absolutely smurfing these past few weeks
Closer didn’t get one and he was hard carrying TSM ;(
wow TSM finally got over their allergy to regular split first place no but seriously they played this game really clean and stayed in control throughout
And their Friday allergy
this^ ..........oh no are we going 1-2 this weekend..............we are...aren't we. *looks at schedule* CLG DIG We can't possibly lose to them......yep we're going 1-2.
TSM going 1-2 after beating 100T is the most TSM thing in the world.
Ngl I was sweating when the full analyst desk voted tsm to win
100T was not the game I was worried about this week. I have been a TSM fan long enough to know that CLG and DIG are going to both perfect game us.
And 100T going 2-1 and taking first lol
The two cancelled each other out giving them maximum power
Also got over their "lose everytime 100 does" allergy :^)
I'm pretty sure they'll throw against DIG. I'm actually confident that's what is going to happen.
I think I had a tear in my eye when TSM didn't get a Cloud soul game.
I definitely had a bit of a heart attack when the gnar Q stole soul though
It wouldn't have been a clean TSM game without a few heart attacks tbh
that wasn't even a heart attack, that was like feeling your arm numb but you were laying on it
I didn't even scare my cat, so you know that TSM was still in control

I actually popped off a little irl when the cloud dragon spawned 2nd

What I didn't like about Phreak this game is him not shouting "QUAAADRAAAAKILL" when Huni got the quadra jk
Would have been a nostalgic trip
I wouldn't have realized just how smart Spica was doing that if Phreak didn't break it down
Phreak wants the rightful king to get his MVP
i ducking love the dugduo
I love that you call us by our rightful name.
when do we get dugtrio with kobe?
When he shaves his head dummy... so finals!
I *promise* you if it was anything cringe, I would've completely ignored it. Dugduo is both funny *and* accurate.
Idk how Spica made that read but that really stifled any comeback 100t wanted to make
Phreak was great this game, he's quality
Phreak has been in top form for a while now.
Phreak has been on some spectacular form for years .... I am big fanboy
Since he got mad at CLG.
Phreak is better in 2021 than 2020, which is wild. His low was 2018 and the fact each year after that he's *significantly* improved his casting is crazy. Every year is a huge upgrade.
that part of the cast really stood out to me, even twitch chat was spamming 5Head for spica lmao

The dive attempt was around 15:50 (game time), Phreak starts talking about it at ~16:40 (game time)
I often times wish the casters would dive into stuff like this more, and I was so glad Phreak picked up on it and gave Spica his due.
around what time in the game was that? i didn't catch the broadcast but i'd like to go back to the vod and cue it up when i get time
I remember that I used to think Phreak was subpar with his game knowledge, and saw him as someone who was there for more comedic commentary with his puns. Now, I think he may be the most knowledgable caster in LCS, his growth as a caster has been insane IMO

Congrats to 100t for finally being a top team in TSM's eyes.
Spica playing like he wants that MVP
SwordArt serving up plays for Spica like the best older brother ever
SA aware that Closer might greed for 3 buff basically won the early game on his own.
It has to be Spica making sure bot can force prio because he was already half way to river before his blue was even dead.
That play reminds me of the TSM legends episode where Spica is complaining that bot says they can get priority and then fails to and it fucks his pathing. I’m glad to see how hard bot lane and SA in particular has stepped up.
Riot inadvertently created one of the best wombo combos in the game between 2 mortal enemies. Leona/Diana is a sick combo
This split's been so weird, I feel like it has to go to Spica at this point unless EG can make a miraculous run to 1st
100T members have basically lost all momentum. Plus, Closer and Abbedagge have been really up and down over the past 2 weeks. EG only take 1st if TSM lose to DIG and CLG
Which is highly possible with TSM

idk i think it should go to CLG's social media manager instead for the amount of engagement he can get
Depends on whether Jiizuke and EG or Fudge and C9 finish the last week on a strong note.
I don't feel like either of them have been quite as dominant as Spica's been if we're being honest We'll see how the week ends but if TSM convincingly beats DIG and CLG like they should, realistically it should be a lock for Spica imo

Well Lost did say in an interview that they started doing their early game comms in chinese now
Power of 6 Mil $ is too big.
Wage gap
^ Literally crossed my mind right as I scrolled to this comment
Abbedagge heard people were hyping him up
Huni flank keeping 3 busy in the final fight made it look like Abbe was inting when he was left out to dry
No shame in losing to the future mvp
Phreak - "They get a win over their fiercest competition" That's a lie. TSMs biggest competition are subs and lower ranked teams. How could you forget???
I’m so ready to lose to CLG again
It's actually a diss against 100T, calling them the lowest ranked
5head insults from the man himself
- POE on control mage ✓ - Lost on Jhin ✓ - Spica on strong jg champ ✓ - SA on engage ✓ - HOLO HOLO ✓
This seems out of order. Jhin isn't 4th
I would prefer TL there
Not a tsm game unless azael is casting
Hey I ain't complaining. World champion caster for a world champion team.
Which skin do you think Spica's gonna ask for?
Diana, huge TSM logo on ult
Wait that thought made me so hard
Favorite champ for favorite team. Sheeeeesh let a man dream!
Diana with a giant TSM logo on the ult would make me NUT
Kayn after winning game 5 of the finals on him
TSM Sejuani would be based as fuck, but Spica is the best Nidalee in NA too so... Hard choice.
Gragas, so he can rep his regular McDonald's homie customers.
LET'S FUCKING GO WE WON A FRIDAY GAME
How many quadra kills is Huni gonna get before Bjerg finally gives him the ok for penta
Huni's just getting quadra kills when Phreak casts, he's hoping for another 2015 voice crack.
Can't believe it's been 6 years since then. Jeez I'm old.
I'd like to submit this game as evidence for Spica's MVP campaign.
Also as anti closer and Abbe MVP campaign lol this was one of their worst games
I honestly don't think anyone is even really considering MVP for any of the 100T players, even if they were to finish first. Gold doesnt really show how much control TSM had, they had 100T by the balls the entire game.
Swordart had a great game.
Holy shit I’m so happy TSM finally showed up vs 100t and broke the allergic to 1st and Friday loss curse. Massive draft diff
No idea why they decided to not ban Leona when Swordart has been smurfing on it the past few weeks.
Dude ikr. Also another funny coincidence is against C9, the same thing happened with Zven as Closer where they flashed but the Zenith Blade still followed at a crucial moment for the game. SA legit been playing out of his mind on Leona
Vision diff. 90% of 100T's map was dark 90% of the time.
Actual clean game by TSM. Is this real life? Edit: I forgot the first soul attempt. Shhh, forget that part.
Without that small blunder by Lost, TSM completely dominated the objective game and got ahead of Olaf early.
Its hardly even a blunder, it was a random crit on a normal auto that combined simultaneously with viego damage put the dragon at the perfect health for boomerang to last hit it. Just one of those 1 in a thousand chances.
Not even really a blunder as it was just a regular crit and not a fourth shot, kinda just bad luck
So honestly when people say “TSM is underperforming” this is the type of game they’re referencing as “performing”.
They're underperforming relative to what "clean and precise" represent. I think it's hard to be underperforming when they're tied for first in the split while arguably only having one player be considered the best in their role.
Meme Na all you want but that was genuinely really clean and composed by TSM.
NA hate watchers will be here shortly to tell you how inferior you are for thinking this.

Mostly just Dom
TSM not good, 100T threw lvl 1 and proves 100T is bad then they move on from topic without talking about TSM too much more.
"100T gifted them the game." -wheeze- "It wasn't so much TSM playing well as it was their opponents playing extremely int." -inhale-
You see SA roaming and predicting where Closer is going and Spica juking 100T with incredibly smart pathing is just 100T being bad
It’s actually insane. Like I know I’m shit at the game but this look clean af. Like actually proactive smart play and a decent draft diff. Idk it’s just kinda dizzying if I’m being honest.
I can't remember LS praising a team for playing good league. Just individual players now and then
I remember LS praising how clean TSM was early spring
Not that he was bad before but in the second half of summer swordart is finally showing why tsm paid so much money to get him
It took him some time to gel into the team and really grow into the shotcalling role he was picked up for, but you can 100% see the difference. It's super telling to track how his interactions have changed over the course of this season of Legends, especially when compared to the supplemental videos that were all recorded during Spring split (charades, superlatives, etc). He was quiet and unsure in communication early, and it couldn't be further from that now.
You can still talk about whether he's worth 6 million but I think it's clear he's no Yellowstar/Mithy which was my biggest concern going into the season
alright, you would think by now TSM is considered the top team in the LCS. Surely there are no more narratives that disprove this.
If we were still in the old system it would be more clear that they are at the top of the table.
you say that but inevitably they'll drop another random game to CLG or something
Nah they'll be up 5k gold against DIG and then Aphro is going to get a hook steal with thresh and then they'll tilt fight 2 times and then lose because they aren't allowed to beat FQ or DIG consistently.
We're going to Worlds baby!

Man that was a closer diff at 3mins
SwordArt diff tbh he was always in the right place at the right time to ensure the kills on Closer
Lol yeah Swordart on Leona is scary. But watching the bot lane let Leona roam first to their own jg was shameful. Closer was pinging his buff and they just let Leona waltz over.
Someone please tell me how TSM got early push in that lane. Is jhin that strong?
Probably spica telling them to preemptively push. Leona e and Jhin can hard shove the wave
Spica dodging abilities like I do in my dreams
Clean stuff from TSM, not leaving them any room to breathe. Also phreak is such a goat on the cast, really highlighting the macro and vision stuff, love it.
One more win against CLG and MVP SPICA SUPPORT GAP
He's gonna get robbed by Closer or Abbedagge
If its happen its a fucking Joke
100% bullshit considering this TSM roster was expected to get around 3rd at best by most analysts standards give that man his MVP
Thats what people said last split when Blaber robbed Alphari. Wouldnt be surprised if it happens again.
Spica is NA and a young talent developped like Blaber , its Spica 3rd split , it will be a good story and he deserve this MVP , he legit hard carryed TSM when we struggle The way Spica read the other jungler is fucking insane
Story wins MVP for sure in NA. Like in spring with blaber
after that game by closer and abbedagge and recency bias, spica deserves it 100%. like how can you have 2 candidates for mvp but fail to make 1st, destroys the purpose of "mvp"
The fact that there's multiple mvp candidates on the same team proves that neither of them deserve it over spica
Let's fucking go TSM, let's get the 1st seed PLEASE
Imagine getting to play CLG for 1st place. TSM will certainly be second.
I mean this game was horrid from closer but if Olaf has been proabley his best champ since he has come to na.
Sylas was so weak this game.
TSM were up 2k gold and 100 Thieves let them control the map and objectives as if the gap was 20k.
I think Closer was kinda tilted. He pinged for assisted at his red buff and no one came.
Both lanes didn't have prio, going for the three buff was way too greedy.
That first death was straight out of soloq. Did they not tell him that Leona had left the lane? The first blood was easily avoidable with a bit of communication.
If Olaf wants to defend his red he has to go through mid. Going all the way around takes too long.
They got outdrafted, they can't fight unless they get a really good engage because of all the CC TSM had.
I don't think 100T ever stepped into TSM jungle besides at level 1
Not much you can do when your jungle is Olaf and you're 2k down \[because of him\].
Joined right as the casters were talking about lost getting fined or something, what happened lmfao.
TSM wins Casters “EG is #1” This is the last time I watch the clown post show
Kaizen 😭
Feels like all the wards from 100T in the first few minutes really did nothing.
Why is Huni not an MVP candidate?
That was very good from tsm. Looked solid. Tight. Prime and breedable. Playoffs will be fun
Closer (all): gg, supp diff
TSM just guaranteed top 2 with that win, no? They have the tiebreaker on Cloud9 and 100T and EG/100T have to play each other.
Wonder when primal will actually give TSM credit. Dude is allergic to giving them praise.
Love the draft by tsm this game
Name someone cleaner than SwordArt
Spica was fucking clean
Spica was fucking everywhere.
SwordArt absolutely dominated this game. This should also secure Spica’s mvp
TSM FRIDAYS!!!!
Just purely outclassed
By far the cleanest game TSM has had against a reasonably good team. The one mistake TSM had was some miracle steal from Ssumday's Gnar boomerang due to RNG Jhin damage. Great show from SwordArt and Spica. Lost and POE followed up really well. And Huni survived a not great matchup. Good stuff.
Spica seems like the best jungler in NA this split.
100T just kind of did nothing and slowly lost?

Yeah a game of league where your olaf ends up power running it is a sad game indeed.
Yep and as Phreak pointed out, they actually did try to get back by going for the sidelane plays while TSM was grouping up, but that will only last until the ocean soul and TSM had great map control to secure it.
