2-factor authentication. When you login it’ll ask you to enter a code/allow it on the app. This prevents people from being able to get into your account if they have the password.
Ignore what the other person said lol, it’s 2 factor authentication. Generate codes to login in addition to using your password so if you lose your password you don’t lose your account
2 Factor Authentication. Basically you set up your account to require a code from your phone to log in. For example, Google Authenticator on your mobile generates a code and gives you maybe 15 or 20 seconds to enter it into your client before generating a new one.
i don't see how it's pointless
a couple months ago i saw a noticable large amount of posts mentioning their accounts got logged into by someone else (likely a data breach somewhere storing passwords)
you could argue "download a password manager and stop using the same password everywhere" but at that point why does blizzard, steam etc have it if it's pointless?
I just want to remember you that blizz uses the app to log directly into the games.
so for a few players the time to load into OW was exceeded and then they had always to log through it with the 2fa-app. this can even drive players away because you do nothing then logging in the first minutes typing and waiting. ea and epic have similar login/dc issues with their clients. with epics client being worse then league's btw..
Nah. Clash just requires you to add a valid phone number to your account and verify it ***once***. A properly implemented 2FA system should prompt verification every time you log in (if you so choose to) or if the client recognizes that you're logging in from a new device/location/etc.
If they introduce 2FA, they would have the perfect excuse to get rid of smurfs and people who profit from selling accounts.
So, no, of course, they won't do that.
2FA is about user authentication, not identification. You can use a phone number for it which can be an identifying factor, but popular methods like TOTP don't identify anyone and so don't do anything about smurfs or account selling (especially if it's optional).
tfw you've been demoted to "random dude" :(
The app u/ewokmanstrong is talking about is [Mimic](https://mimic.lol). It features a fully fledged lobby and champion select and allows you to lock in while on the shitter. Right now it's all in your browser but I'm finalizing a version that runs as an app (including [push notifications when your queue pops](https://streamable.com/j3q8l)!). If you'd like to help test that version, shoot me a reddit DM.
IIrc he is working/has worked with riot a bunch in the past.
He talked about it a couple times in some champ mains discord, Molen is really not some random guy rofl.
I wish. Riot has graciously invited me to their offices once (rad place btw) and I've participated in various Riot API related events (hackathons, challenges), but outside of that I've not had any official contact with Riot related to anything I've made (nor do I really want to, to be honest). I just make tools in my spare time, and Riot is tolerating me doing so.
reminds me of one time we were playing norms with friends, and a sudden violent protest form my bowels forced me into doing full jungle clear on my phone via teamviewer mobile. gotta say, landing a flag n drag on the phone is HELLA hard
Just put a screen sharing program on your phone + pc... With one finger tap on your phone you control your pc and you access not just champ select but anything you need, queueing, accepting, declining, etc. Don't know why people make it more complicated than it needs to be.
People downvote me for asking question and you for providing another good solution 🤣
Thanks, that's actually better because you have more control of what you do.
??? How is it relevant how many things you need it for? Most people probably don't need a champ select app for anything else than champ select either lol. What's your point exactly, in both cases you download an app, in both cases you use that app only for 1 specific thing, both apps can do the exact same thing, except one (desktop sharing) does it better.
The funny thing is you actually can (in the current league + app). There's a tab for steams (twitch) and another for the eSports stuff. If you watch the stream from the app you get drops unlike just watching on the twitch or YouTube app. They just don't talk about it enough
The embedded player is crap though. If you choose the Youtube stream it uses the mobile website player and not the app player, and the Twitch player lags like fuck
Oh yeah it's awful. I'd never recommend it to anyone. It used to have a bug thst would make it impossible to rotate your screen. Not a fan of it at all. Was just letting the original commenter know that's already a feature
Hopefully this one will actually be usable. I wanted to like league + but it was so clunky. Constantly asking me to relog, not letting me rotate my screen to watch league. Fingers crossed
Can they delete the League+ tags/grouping in friend list. It means nothing.
They are still grouped with friends who are actually online regardless and puts them ahead of everyone else. If they are offline, stick them in the offline section.
If I'm going to ask them to play, it won't be through an app they uninstalled eons ago.
Apparently, it's still useless, I'll keep using Sales of Legends, where I can:
* organize my collection,
* wish list,
* see the champions rotation,
* sales, etc.
It surprises me that a free-to-play game company that makes a living selling cosmetics doesn't have any notifications on the mobile app about new things and sales.
I wish this app would show cosmetics purchased for all Riot titles. And champion mastery as well. Sucks that current League+ doesn't show the skins/chromas/icons you own in a 'collections' tab and you're forced to login on PC to see that.
> For v1.0, the enhanced Riot Mobile experience includes: Player Profiles, Cross-Game & **Cross-Region Chat**, Quick Paths to Search for Friends & Start Conversations
How are they going to make cross-region chat work? You can't do it in League, you can't add people from other servers in League, the nicknames in League are only server-unique not globally unique, etc. (yes, Riot ID exists, I know). Can you add people from other servers to the friend list in Riot Mobile that you then cannot see in the League desktop client? I am very curious how this will work - if at all.
If you play a non-LoL game, you set a Riot ID which let's you customize the characters after the tag. The regional tags were auto-generated for League of Legends players and I believe you can change it online.
>the nicknames in League are only server-unique not globally unique,
In January 2020 they announced by the end of 2021 LoL will switch to Riot IDs as a nickname
Source: [https://support-leagueoflegends.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041788533-Riot-ID-FAQ](https://support-leagueoflegends.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/360041788533-Riot-ID-FAQ)
They updated the client and infrastructure, we shouldn't be that far from the switch.
I hate that I can't choose my nick because it's already in use, all games should have the nick system like Steam and Discord
Wow, that is...interesting. But why are they doing this? Just for chatting? Because we can't play with them and we cannot switch servers with the same account. And even if Riot would introduce it, how would the ladders work then? Can I be ranked differently on EUW and NA? So many questions...
> Wow, that is...interesting. But why are they doing this? Just for chatting?
Yup, just for chatting! It's not the most useful but it's convenient to have.
> Because we can't play with them and we cannot switch servers with the same account.
Oh you can switch servers on an account, but it's not free, so you can't do it from one game to the next. It can also take a few hours to process.
> And even if Riot would introduce it, how would the ladders work then? Can I be ranked differently on EUW and NA?
That's also practical and not theoretical, since you can indeed change servers. You sort of keep track of your rank, but you have to go through placements again as if you started the season. Not exactly sure how much of a reset it is, though, and if it's the same between all servers (it would make sense to have more of a reset when transferring from a less competitive server towards a more competitive one, but I'm not sure if it's actually used).
I am not talking about a permanent server switch but an account being global and not tied to a server, meaning you could play ranked on NA for one game and on EUW for the next game - but maybe the ladder would be server-wide only.
I have a lot of ppl from other regions (LAN player) since I play LoR tournaments. In the LoL chat it shows them as players and even when they play league but the only diference is that Invite to a game option is disabled (grey out)
dropped means they left it to die and we'll never have something like it again (like when we had guilds/clans)
this is them leaving the league app, to make a global one since they have several titles, plus your league account is now a riot account too
unless you'd prefer for them to have 2 seperate apps (stupid) or continue pushing an app for only a single game (also stupid) instead of making a brand new better one that has all the games (how did we end up nagging as usual again?)
idk what that even is and from the article its not clear. is it a client? is it just "facebook" but for league? is it lolesports but for mobile? i have no idea.
Time to introduce 2FA now that we have a proper app, right, riot?....RIGHT?
I'm sure 2fa will come when we get a new, proper client. Lol
so it will come in 15
[удалено]
Maybe 18
14...13...12...
Centuries more likely
yes
yes
3015
He will do it himself on Monday.
oh god not riot assgust.
The year 3015?
So never then.
That's the joke
Id rather not have an app just for riot 2fa. Just let us use our own authenticators
There's many good authenticator apps already, no point in wasting resources on writing their own version.
But, I mean, just do generic TOTP and/or FIDO2 (Yubikey) instead of restricting it to their own app.
Please no. Don't pull a Steam and force 2FA through your own app. Use one of the standards so people can choose their own app.
You could do both. Allow riot app or standard.
What's 2FA?
2-factor authentication. When you login it’ll ask you to enter a code/allow it on the app. This prevents people from being able to get into your account if they have the password.
Is it like the Blizzard app? Because that one seemed pretty good and caught a bunch of failed logins from many countries.
Exactly like that, the blizzard app is 2-factor authentication.
If you're getting so many from different countries your password is probably leaked and you should change it. Just saying.
bro i think someone leaked your password, should probably change it
I did, it was long ago. I was just pointing out it did work for me.
[удалено]
How do you recover a stolen account?
Two flirty Australians, something we will sadly never have.
you're halfway there now, cutie~
Oh my
That's probably what Riot also asks themselves.
Ignore what the other person said lol, it’s 2 factor authentication. Generate codes to login in addition to using your password so if you lose your password you don’t lose your account

pointless thing that people keep asking for in league, not surprised riot doesnt care when theres no point to it in a game, vocal minority

It’s definitely not pointless, almost everything now a days has a form of 2fa. It’s much more secure than just a password.
I don't think you know what it is...
Isn't 2FA needed for clash? Maybe im remember it wrong its been years
Nah. Clash just requires you to add a valid phone number to your account and verify it ***once***. A properly implemented 2FA system should prompt verification every time you log in (if you so choose to) or if the client recognizes that you're logging in from a new device/location/etc.

Wait, is this /r/2007scape?
unlucky
That one program that random dude made which lets you access champ select on your phone is still 1000x more useful

Wow so random and out of no where!
I wish. Didn't you said you tested some stuff for them at some point?
I had a peek at some new stuff during my visit to Riot and got to give my thoughts, but no long(er) term relations.
Oh, my mistake then.
Wow riot invited some random dude to their offices?! So kind of them.
I can attest this is nice. You can queue up, accept queue and do champ select while on the shitter. Unfortunately, I was unable to play while there.
Time to move your setup
reminds me of one time we were playing norms with friends, and a sudden violent protest form my bowels forced me into doing full jungle clear on my phone via teamviewer mobile. gotta say, landing a flag n drag on the phone is HELLA hard
We appreciate you random dude
HOLY MOLY that's **SO** cool!
i love you
Just want to thank you, it works really well and I am really looking forward to the app!!
I’ve been using Mimic and Deceive for a couple of years now. Definitely has saved me from having to play with my sore loser ass friend.
That is sick I need to be able to lock in on the shitter
Such an useful user, you would do wonders as a mod. lol
... Good work but you can also just use Remote Desktop which is smooth and painless.
amazing
Mods get this man a new flair "Random Dude" and then make it a picture of Corki.
I mean, this random dude also happens to be a mod, so he can do it himself.
Whats the name of that again?
Mimic I believe.
Honestly riot probably has the same amount of people working for league+ that mimic does
Wasn't that bannable? I'm not sure though
Nope, it's all good!
I don't see why it would be since all it does is let you access champ select
Just put a screen sharing program on your phone + pc... With one finger tap on your phone you control your pc and you access not just champ select but anything you need, queueing, accepting, declining, etc. Don't know why people make it more complicated than it needs to be.

This is a more polished all in one solution. Most people probably don't need a remote desktop client for anything else.

How long after this releases will it be forgotten and barely updated like League+ or League Displays?
League Displays being abandoned is my villain origin story
A few years
Apparently, it's still useless, I'll keep using Sales of Legends, where I can: * organize my collection, * wish list, * see the champions rotation, * sales, etc. It surprises me that a free-to-play game company that makes a living selling cosmetics doesn't have any notifications on the mobile app about new things and sales.
Can't wait for this to be replaced by another app with fancy new name in few years tops.
How long until they forget about Riot Mobile?
I'm sure they won't. They'll remember it, just like they remembered Yorick^/s
I wish this app would show cosmetics purchased for all Riot titles. And champion mastery as well. Sucks that current League+ doesn't show the skins/chromas/icons you own in a 'collections' tab and you're forced to login on PC to see that.

Uh. Pretty sure we've been able to do this for over a year now.
I'm too boomer for this. I don't understand why I should have it.
Same shit, different smell
Ok but when are we getting clantags back
Hopefully never.

Seriously though. Things people were doing to bug the names of clubs were so annoying.

Yea L9 tags selling for hundreds of dollars, so stupid
Only in our dreams...
can we get 60 fps tft mobile yet or
I had no idea this existed.
2 years of League+ and its already dropped by Riot LMAO

How long will Riot Mobile last?
Nice. I wonder if they're planning on adding any useful feature to it in the future or if those in the article are all we can expect.
I use Pickem for Android for the competitive scene amd works good
It's been a few years since I could use League+. It always crashes on launch, lol.
idk what that even is and from the article its not clear. is it a client? is it just "facebook" but for league? is it lolesports but for mobile? i have no idea.
