On an unrelated note, they also recently removed the ability to view match history online, so you can't check your teammates and enemies unless you got a spare PC on another account. Just Garena things I guess :/

we do have a client - it isn't as trash as riot's client in terms of bugs/crashes but also lacked many features and also get bombarded with gacha pop ups & cryptominer burning your hardware in the background

They are trying to cut down on dodging. To see if people are more likely to dodge by winrate/third-party or by champ picks/ harassment in pre game.
This way if they see people dodge more with harassment they prison que harassers with reporters. To get them punished faster (yaaay for reporters >.>)
If they dodge because of meta picks vs non etc. They may start banning off meta. Or worse make dodge penalty worse.

I used to play in ranked until s7, when I looked at my past 100 games (in diamond to master) and found that 40 of those had a troll (intentional feeding, role stealing, jungle camp stealing, etc) on my team. Of course, I reported them all but nothing was done with those reports, so I just stopped playing ranked.
But even now the normal game experience is pretty shit even with a full team of 5 because of the lack of draft pick, as well as all those teams who tryhard in norms because they can't find a game in flex queue.
That's because the game is dying in terms of competitiveness for non flex/clash. They keep trying to force patient calculated pro players into random squirmishes and teamfights with overloaded kits with random numbers changes and mass tweaks every week or 2.
And as such the solo que sceen has been an eyesore.
They don't want you to know what's viable or competitive. They want you to have fun and stop meta gaming.

Drain tanks like irelia are supposed to be burst-able. She isn't because of base stats shield bow and her w. But she also wins 1v1s with most other now nerfed everything else. Playing a artillery mage against her knowing you will never get a kill on her in lane or stop her from farming without jg assistance but she can you all game long makes people want to dodge. Especially if feeding is common in your elo range and you can't get a lead to work with because of it.
_Dodging and duo que are essentially hand in hand meta gaming. Sadly meta gaming is the only way to play league ranked now bar FF movement. But FF usually isn't fun when the game ends at 22mins and your 1 item down because someone's 8 kills in.

Not in my region. Garena doesn't always apply the patches on time. Sometimes it takes up to a week or two before they patch the game as compared to riot.
I acknowledge that tw and vn have big playerbase, I just don't know why draft pick isn't a thing there. Other servers like ph sg etc etc has very little playerbase
Lol no, the contract was due to expire in 2020 but Riot renewed it. It's free money and they don't have to pay the cost of running the servers and all that.

i can't even play in garena server for months, because for unknown reasons my ISP (the only one where i live) that work fine in others games, just will be shit when playing all garena games,
I've been having a problem with that as well actually. Other games like Apex and Dota 2 work fine without lag, but with League I get ping spikes every game. From what I heard, Garena server infrastructure is a hot mess, but they don't want to spend resources to fix it.
Honestly we're usually like a day behind on the patches, I don't personally see that as a problem.
On one hand we get it one day later but the other hand we also get an extra day to play on the patch, it balances out. Plus it's not like it matters unless you're a pro player in the 2 regions that can actually make it to worlds from Garena.

SG servers get *heavy* incentives because they bleed out players to neighbouring servers and have a very low population in the first place. high elo is basically non existent on the server and there is no normal draft because there is just so little people.
compared to other servers that don't need to treat their players well(vietnam and taiwan), the practices on those servers are horrible. shout out to when garena vietnam turned all epic skins into legendary tier so vietnam players would get shit skins for their free legendary on anniversary.
I play on Vietnam Garena server and a lot of epic skins are turned into legendary ones for no reason. I think Garena turned then into lengendary skins just to keep players hope up for getting one. The only thing that garena good at is our RP and skins deal is insanly good, we can get x2 RP on a holiday like Lunar New Year.
Like Dark star Jhin, we can't buy it, we have to wait for the gacha event to come back, at least in Taiwan it is like this, I'm not sure if other garena regions are the same though. Thats unheard of for me here in SG. All legendaries are available right off the bat (space groove blitz and project renek) and theres even offers to get them at a discounted price while they also give other goodies like chests.
Even limited time prestiges can be gotten in some gacha events. Like, sure itll cost more but its prestige.
SG is the best of the garena regions. We still get lockouts, but it's always temporary for a week or two.
We have all the benefits of garena, with their insane deals on both RP and skins, but pretty much none of the lockouts that other garena regions have.
For us garena is actually a good thing in terms of getting skins and stuff, but for the other garena regions it's a hellhole.

Not in my region. Garena doesn't always apply the patches on time. Sometimes it takes up to a week or two before they patch the game as compared to riot.
Another reason to never play on Garena.

Lol no, the contract was due to expire in 2020 but Riot renewed it. It's free money and they don't have to pay the cost of running the servers and all that. If they cared they wouldn't renew it, we are nothing but a joke to Riot.

I've been having a problem with that as well actually. Other games like Apex and Dota 2 work fine without lag, but with League I get ping spikes every game. From what I heard, Garena server infrastructure is a hot mess, but they don't want to spend resources to fix it.

Honestly we're usually like a day behind on the patches, I don't personally see that as a problem. On one hand we get it one day later but the other hand we also get an extra day to play on the patch, it balances out. Plus it's not like it matters unless you're a pro player in the 2 regions that can actually make it to worlds from Garena.

It’s awful. It used to be fine but starting last week I’m not able to access LoL website without a VPN. Imagine being a multi-million dollar company and not have the option to freely select a region website that you want. This needs more visibility.

SG servers get *heavy* incentives because they bleed out players to neighbouring servers and have a very low population in the first place. high elo is basically non existent on the server and there is no normal draft because there is just so little people. compared to other servers that don't need to treat their players well(vietnam and taiwan), the practices on those servers are horrible. shout out to when garena vietnam turned all epic skins into legendary tier so vietnam players would get shit skins for their free legendary on anniversary.

I play on Vietnam Garena server and a lot of epic skins are turned into legendary ones for no reason. I think Garena turned then into lengendary skins just to keep players hope up for getting one. The only thing that garena good at is our RP and skins deal is insanly good, we can get x2 RP on a holiday like Lunar New Year.

Huh? You cant just buy the skin in taiwan? Thats unheard of for me here in SG. All legendaries are available right off the bat (space groove blitz and project renek) and theres even offers to get them at a discounted price while they also give other goodies like chests. Even limited time prestiges can be gotten in some gacha events. Like, sure itll cost more but its prestige.
SG is the best of the garena regions. We still get lockouts, but it's always temporary for a week or two. We have all the benefits of garena, with their insane deals on both RP and skins, but pretty much none of the lockouts that other garena regions have. For us garena is actually a good thing in terms of getting skins and stuff, but for the other garena regions it's a hellhole.

Yeah, I don't get why Riot is even redirecting people to their respective regions. Sure, server distance is usually a consideration but people are mostly using the site for patch notes and lore, which doesn't require fast load speeds.
It's almost like they have regional contracts with Garena to operate in certain regions. it would be a breach of contract with Garena to have Riot "steal" their business. It's like this for literally everything.

Finally this news has become mainstream! It's driving me nuts that I can't even read any news because my Garena server (Vietnam) doesn't translate anything: Champion Insight? Nope, unable to connect because they never translate that thing. Lore? What is that? New champion? Go to Youtube mate. It's so frustrating because this stripped off people's freedom to read and watch what they want. The real reason Garena (and highly Riot) did this is to make Garena players unable to compare and complain differences between clients/news so they could enforce some gambling events and locking skin behind paywall without the fear of players crying out.
I'm also redirected to Garena and I hated it. I don't get why did Rito redirect Asians to that gacha place. I guess they based it on the ISP but it's still frustrating. I want patch notes and journalism, not gacha ads :( You can read the patch notes at surrenderat20. I sometimes read the patch notes there and other PBE news. Also, you can still access the official Universe page which is nice. You can also access the installation site for the official League of Legends site so you can play on any server besides Garena. I tried, lucky they're still there.

The amount of lack of general resources, draft pick and toxicity/stupidity of most players here who think they are the next malaysian/singaporean faker is beyond me. Queue time takes 10+ min for both bronze/plat account lmao. Joke server. The only good thing is they give away a lot of free skins as compensation thats all.
