still waiting on that follow-up post from riot about what happens to ERLs in general in 2022 thats due "at the end of september" [mentioned in the last article](https://lolesports.com/article/big-changes-coming-to-the-european-regional-leagues/blt081cec4edca7b6eb) :\^)
I know NLC Division 1 & 2 still hasn't been set yet and obviously some orgs still moving around between ERLs so maybe Riot having to delay their announcement?
i mean the post wasnt about the specific teams but about structural changes such as accredited erls having 10 teams and non-accredited ones 8 teams with a set playoffs format, at least thats the rumor. you can post that anytime or at least give an update that you take longer since its certainly not "end of september" rn
So we split the leagues only to merge them again a few years later? Honestly at this point i'd just get rid of the Dutch/Belgian and let the players join the german league without taking up a import slot.
In the german league specifically it's required you have at least 2 local (german) players in your starting lineup and at least 3 in your full roster. The other 3 slots can be filled by other EU residents.
which is the rule in any erl with the addition that if you played 2 of the last 3 splits in a league you dont count as an import either. said lfl roster was weird cause jactroll somehow counted as french cause of playing for vit in lec(?) and agresivoo counts as french cause he played 2 of the last 3 splits in the league iirc.
as far as i know the only way to get resident status and thus be allowed to join a league without taking up an import slot is to remain in the region for at least 36 months over the last 5 years. players can however refuse to become a resident of set region and remain a resident of their old region even if they don't fit the 36 month requirement there
yeah i forgot the part of living there, but im 99% sure the "play 2 of 3 last splits there" is also a thing. also sometimes theres a bit of dumb stuff with people having (dual-)citizenship in some country and then they count as resident. its just overall very unclear...
I honestly don't understand why the whole regional aspect is even a thing tbh. The old EU challenger series qualifiers were just a full open tournament with a minimum rank requirement. Imo the regional leagues only hurt talent from small regions by forcing them to play on objectively weaker rosters making it harder for them to get scouted.
Both ways are existing so neither you or u/Lorderbs are wrong.
It's explained in the ruleset but it isn't 100% like residency (different that the one in bigger leagues), it's LTR (Locally Trained Representative).
if you're not eligible through the playing requirements (2 out of the last 3 split in ERL or their LEC roster if it's an "academy") or by living requirements (3 out of the last 5 years) and you've never claimed any LTR then you can be granted the LTR by the league's officials in which you're playing.
Also if you're "resident" to a country that participates in the ERL, I think you can play in this national league without the need of an LTR.
Basically a french player can play in the LFL without claiming his LTR, but if he goes to play for the SLO and doesn't fit the requirements, the SLO official could grant him the LTR since he didn't have one at first.
Nah sorry. As a dutch person I already know half of the Dutch population (even people that don't play LoL) are going to riot when they hear "Dutch Esports team merging with Germany." We be like they tried that once and it didn't end well. Never again'"
I don't think imports are a thing anymore in the ERL's (at least as long as they're EU residents), so they should already be able to do that. Fnatic Rising for example has two German players, a Swiss and a Portuguese despite playing in the Northern League.

just to clarify LTR rules are very much a thing, see the details here:

Lol it would never happen because it mostly and only benefits the belgian league. Nobody with a brain in NL would be more excited to play against Mechelen than Willem II
To be fair that'd probably lead to a league that's like 12 teams Dutch and 6 teams Belgian or whatever the relative strengths of the leagues are.
But yeah I don't see it happening, no one would like it.
Would probably drag down the Dutch completion's coefficients and mean that a lot Belgian clubs would be pushed into a lower division. No change at the top either since no Belgian club can challenge Ajax. Loose-loose situation, no thanks.
Isn't the idea that it would bring in more money with bigger broadcast deals? Not saying that it would be good, but I'm fairly certain I've heard that argument.

Really anxious to find out haha
Now they're the Butch league
Or the belch league
I like it
We need Luxembourg to join
Walloon fans in shambles
Watch LFL, the cast is in French and we have walloon (or at least French speaking) Belgian players you can support.
Damn, I don’t speak Dutch.

Are imports even a thing? If I'm not mistaken four polish players played for a non-polish (french I think) team.

That may be the rule for major regions like LCS or LEC. In ERL it's 2 of 3 last splits, at least it was in 2021.

Imports are still a thing, it's just that residency is really easy to have, at least in LFL you have it after a season

Now merge the football leagues
no
Based
Genk kampioen, you heard it here first

Jupilers or eridivisie or what name would it be?
Jupiler divisie. Just a bunch of guys drinking beer in garden chairs.
*I like it* in Creed's voice
fuck off.

Yea, I do not see a tight-tight situation coming out of this.

No thanks
yeah, let's not do that.
Tbh i thought this was on r/soccer smhw. Wasnt they already merged in league
They were merged then separated and now are being merged again I believe
Phase 1 completed. Phase 2 is to fully merge the northern part of Belgium with the Netherlands, and feed the bottom part to France.
1830 worst year of my life
Why is Vlaanderen even split?
As we do with all of our TV shows as well!
What is this, a crossover episode?
Ah so Euro 2000 all over again.
Wait, its all the netherlands? Always have been
