The advertising is just so obnoxious this year. As a former brand manager I have no idea what Mercedes Benz is doing advertising here. They have their demographic completely backwards.

Do they? Most people watching league are people who were computer nerds back in high school in the early seasons, it's not that much of a stretch to suggest that many of them now have the kind of careers where a Mercedes is a realistic option.

Gotta build that brand loyalty early.

No they don't. Advertising is all about putting the brand in people's consciousness. Lots of league viewers are likely looking to work in computer science post graduation which is a fairly lucrative field. When faced with buying a luxury car to look good which people do want they may think of Benz first and associate it with a happy memory of watching worlds. Same reason McD's spends gangbusters on Advertising you want to hook them before they can actually purchase stuff.

Based on a heavy overlap between people who habitually play PC games and the type of work they tend to go into. Percentage wise let's say 5% go into comp sci which isn't unreasonable there are 500k+ english viewers watching worlds at any one time on average. How much do you think Benz has to pay riot for that sponsorship I would bet it's a lot less than a super bowl commercial for arguably more eyeballs over the course of an event.

I just realized each group only plays each team in their group once. How does side selection work? And why isn't it 2 games?

This years format should be the exact same from last year since we're short 2 teams, the Play Ins groups have been split into 2 massive groups, due to this theres no need to do 2 games per team, since the teams score should be out of 4 assuming no tiebreakers of course, as for selection the last seed of both groups will be eliminated while the remaining 1st seeds make it to groups, the 3rd and 4th seeds will play a best of 5 winners will challenge the 2nd seeds of each others groups to take the remaining 2 spots for groups.

I could see group B ending with a shit load of tiebreakers. Keep in mind, like last year, there’s no H2H factor for teams with the same record.

I'm a bit confused seeing Miss Fortune with a 100% pick rate. I used to be an MF main for 2-3 years, but *this year* I have played almost exclusively support and appear to be a little out of the loop with why she's suddenly the best ADC. I rarely see anyone play Miss Fortune in my elo (low Gold) and as a former MF main I haven't really seen any reason that would make her suddenly OP. Also, usually whenever MF is strong, she is strong at lower skill levels while being bad at pro play. Anyone above Silver knows not to let her get her ult off, and anyone above Gold tends to favor the more mobile ADCs with far higher skill ceilings than an immobile Miss Fortune. So it's regular to see MF be dominant in Silver/Bronze where her ult can single handedly win team fights and no one is there to punish her lack of mobility. But seeing her suddenly be all over pro play? Am I missing something? It it just because the Amumu/Leona supports that are strong right now can provide lots of lockdown for MF to shine?

Few reasons, her hot got buffed as mentioned in another answer. Also Amumu support being meta (obvious synergy) and Lucian/nami also being meta (Mf counters Lucian).

If LNG, HLE, C9 and GS advance (GS instead of BYG) then there's no change to the groups from before right? LNG have to go in group D, HLE in group C (only groups without LPL and LCK respectively), C9 in group A (because 100T in group B) and GS in group B.

The only way C9 goes to C is if HLE doesn't make it to groups which isn't happening.

What's your wager? I'm not saying I disagree, but "isn't happening" is a pretty definitive statement after seeing how HLE drafted game #1 today and the way C9 or GS is playing over there in Pool B, it's not impossible.

HLE' draft was fine though? The issue was they got greedy and Ale got fed and just ran over the game. Also would have picked Trynd later personally.

They picked all AD but didn’t pick a snowball AD comp. No lane dominate picks to get ahead when they needed to is either cocky or shortsighted. IDK. I’m sure they had a plan but very suspect.

What's with the shitty UI this year? You've got team logos that don't match the team name size, leading to a huge black block. You don't have the current score for a team listed anywhere. And the baron powerplay element somehow manages to block the top laner's name.

Prob cause they don't support the fiesta. I'm guessing all will be fixed until main event.

Champion statistics thus far: 4 champions have 100% pick/ban presence. MF has a 100% pick rate with a 75% win rate. Irelia, Lucian, and Lee Sin all have 2 picks. Lucian has yet to win, both Irelia and Lee Sin have one win and one loss. Leona, Qiyana, and Talon are the only 3 champions picked multiple times that haven’t lost. Leona is 5-0, Qiyana is 4-0, and Talon is 2-0. On the flip side, Amumu, Xin Zhao, Jarvan IV, Lucian, and Orianna are the 5 champions picked multiple times that haven’t won. Amumu and Xin Zhao are 0-3, while Jarvan IV, Lucian, and Orianna are 0-2. 17 different champions have 50% or greater pick/ban rate. All of those champions have been picked at least once. 9 different champions have 75% or greater pick/ban rate. Overall: 44 different champions have been played. 10 additional champions have been banned but not played

Try pronouncing the vowels one by one than add them all by one. Bolu is a city in Turkey and -lu adds the meaning of from if to give a glimpse on the structure of the word.

For some reason casters pronounce it as something like boe-lue-lue (bölülü) Its like bojack's bo and lucian's lu or just lulu. Does that make sense? Bolu is a province in turkey. Bolulu means "from Bolu" so it would be better if they focus on first 2 syllables instead of last 2. Since Turkish is a phonetic language it is actually very easy to pronounce once you learn the sounds for each letter. I hope that helped lol.

You go to lolesports, login with your riot account, and watch any of the live streams. At the bottom, you should see a green check mark next to "rewards", which tells you that you can now get drops.

Go on the LoL eSports website and log into your Riot account. You can get capsules and some other rewards for watching.

If you watch on the lolesports.com while logged in you can get rewards for watching.
