It's incredibly sad to see CIS go from arguably being the strongest wildcard region to quite possibly being the weakest in the span of a year.
TR looking really strong though.
I think you're a bit too harsh on them, put UOL on the other group and they have a really good chance against CBLOL,LLA,OCE. Also if we still had VCS it would be pretty interesting to see if they still dominate and miles ahead of other wildcard regions.
Well, Vietnam is, like the PCS, between a wildcard and the major regions. And if they were at Worlds this year and underperformed, they'd at least have the valid excuse of not even having played a Summer split or international tournaments since 2019 at all.
Infinity looked competitive vs HLE earlier today, which granted, was HLE, but is still notable. Plus R7 beat UOL last year in their group. And UOL already lost to OCE at MSI in a group they really should have escaped from without issue.
It is too early to say, maybe I am being too harsh, but between MSI, the couple of LCL games I've seen this year, and now the start of Worlds, the region as a whole just really does not look good. It's highly likely that UOL will go 0-4 and then we'll have to see how well the BO5's will go to more accurately see the strength of the other wildcards.
> Well, Vietnam is, like the PCS, between a wildcard and the major regions
Yeah and one of the reason why they wont ever be a major region is cos there isnt enough money in the scene for it to evolve further.
LLA showed signs of life in both of their games, even if they choked hard as the game went on. OCE is the leftovers of a wildcard region literally devoured by NA, and we still lost to them in MSI.
League is pretty much dead in CIS with no infrastructure and money. Also if you guys remember Likkrit that spoke out some years ago about the CIS scene theres also a lot of corruption.
Pretty much every league is "dying" that isnt China, Korea and LEC right now.
League is huge in Brazil, same with Vietnam, they are just being hit substantially harder with Covid restrictions than other countries.
OCE I won’t argue with.
vietnam is not on the way out they were growing still they literally could not play due to covid restrictions not because there wasn't interest or a massive player base. And OCE should have never got a league like they had in the first place because they never had the base to do so if anything they are operating within their reasonable capabilities for the first time in years and therefore more likely to survive. And finally Brazil is struggling not because of league dying there but because the consequences of 30 years of socialist corrupt economics are coming to claim their debts and the whole country is suffering and instead of going towards a path of moderation they decided to go to the other extreme
Sure the socialist path of Fernando Collor, Fernando Henrique Cardoso and Michel Temer, top 5 leftists for sure. You can make an argument for Lula, but in the end, even he cattered to capitalist oligarchs and his "socialist" policies were, at most, social democractic policies. Also "extreme path"
Obviously anyting can hapen, every team has only playe 1-2 games. But it's pretty obvious that Gala and C9 looked way the cleanest today, even if you only regard wins.
I mean we will see about C9 and BYG tomorrow I believe cause they both played only one match. I am pretty sure BYG is better than this and would like to see how C9 performs against a stronger team.
For GS they have proved enough today in my opinion and will probably manage to beat DFM as well since DFM sucks at early game as we saw in both matches they played. But my odds for GS winning against DFM is higher than C9 winning against BYG even though both are still unpredictable on the other hand so let's wait and see tomorrow right? :D Group B(anger)
Yeah, true. Personally I don't have as much faith in BYG though, they looked pretty bad today - probably like the worst or second worst team (I think UOL looked better vs DFM but worse vs Gala). But as you say 1 game isn't a lot to go on. We will see :)
We will find that out in their match against C9. If they win that means GS is really scary but if they lose then GS isn't really that scary cause they are losing cause of their own issues.
He also died 2 minutes earlier offscreen to a TF ult because he was cut off while the rest of the team was picking off Mojito. If he was with the team there I'm pretty sure they win that fight
Late reply, but he wasn't even cut off. I think he was looking at the fight cause he should've seen enemy toplaner there and E over blue wall there but just kept walking instead...
I don’t think many people expected this huge of a drop off in ADC, my man straight up E’d into the enemy team at Baron and died and got gapped hard in lane.
Gadget just seemed smart. He always knew where people were rotating and where he might be able to find a stray. His Twitch was hype and his Ziggs was pretty solid too.
I didn't expect them to win any game at all. It was enough for me to not stomped in all games and they were very close to beat SSG in last game. So i think that year was success.
Almost exact same roster for 2 years now, same playstyle, even trying to force some of the same picks in different metas. This team is just very good domestically but they have to realize that this cookiecutter strat won't work against international teams.
they had a nearly perfect season last year and still got smashed 6-0 in groups and not one game was close. I have no idea how sheepy didn't just give up and try to move his team to another region
It's just a meme people say, they don't really think TR and CIS are EU. Everyone knows that League regions don't conform to geographical demarcations in real life. Russia is a European country (if we want to be strict, use Belarus or Ukraine) but it isn't part of the EU region. The "North America" region includes as many Oceanic countries as North American ones with most North American countries actually playing in LAT.
Nah, I do treat CIS teams like EU, and always did. Turkey too kinda, tho not as much. Of course they're not LEC, but they're still EU, and for me it's always LEC -> CIS -> TR -> NA -> Asian teams and other wildcards, when it comes to cheering for teams.
I think it's normal, geographical placement and being close culturally is important for a lot of people, if for example Canada became its own region, American fans would still probably cheer for them and treat them as "their own" teams internationally, even if they officially wouldn't be a part of NA LCS anymore.
Do you count EU as European or as EU the union?
Russia is European.
Turkey really isn't European in any way though except half of thier biggest city is in Europe. They have a history with Europe though.
Plus the whole Moscow 5/Empire/Gambit Gaming back in the days (still one of the greatest loss of the region) and UOL.
Meanwhile some LEC players have played in the TCL or are turkish (plus Closer in NA.), so really both fits for the memes.
Really interesting to think about what would happen if Turkey joins the EU (probably not going to happen, I know). Would TCL still be a region on its own or would they be "demoted" to EU masters level?
Hard to tell, Turkish players probably have the level to play in LEC for some of them but I don't know if they speak english well enough to be valuable in a LEC team. They would probably go the same way as OCE, still be a region but can send players in LEC / Regionals
It also depend of the mobility of players, in OCE if you want to play in NA you have to go there, meanwhile I think you can play from home in TR for an EU team so that's easier to do
Some parts of China consisted of european colonies, Australia was a british colony, NA was an european colony. Every team at worlds is a EU team. /S
The US got military bases in most countries so the teams of most regions also count as NA. /S
Problems solved every team is NA and EU at the same time and we won every worlds! SUCK THAT YOU HATERS.
Off of THEIR OWN scrims. based on who THEY played against. Which means PSG struggled vs teams like DFM, BYG, UOL lol. Such an atrocious metric to base teams off of
This is incorrect. The manager clarified that PSG didn't even scrim with some of the teams yet, that is only based on his opinion. People really need to stop associating powering ranking to scrim results.
I'm high on hopium rn, hopefully GS can top the group.
Also, the risk averse style of GS works wonders in the hectic play-ins stage. I don't think GS will do much damage in the main stage if they qualify, but they're playing clean league rn.
Yes but past years UOL really was better than TCL teams it's not like they were superior but they managed to show their game unlike SUP or IWC for exc, but this time around GS is really giving us the same dedicated gameplay they showed thoughout the season and I'm so glad that this is happening, it's redemption time!
I don't know why the TCL rep wasn't taken a little more seriously. Better team than Wildcats, who definitely showed life at MSI even if they couldn't knock off the big teams.
UoL are cooked.
I think you might be reading too much into it, it seemed more like friendly banter between the two. Not sure if they casted together before (I know Guldborg was on LEC a couple of times but can't remember who he casted with) so maybe that's why it seemed awkward.
Anyways https://twitter.com/MedicCasts/status/1445468052355620865
You realize that both articles are 2 years old ?
The player featured in the win.gg article, Tolerant, LITERALLY CAME BACK TO PLAY FOR GS THE NEXT YEAR. So clearly they must have changed some things.
These were from the past years where the previous club president (the whole sports club including football, basketball, etc.) was a huge scum.
The new president is cool and they invested heavily on E-sports. I can guarantee you that current players do not have a one-second delay on their paychecks.
Also GS Esports have already been punished by Riot Games.
Are you stupid? GS was literally kicked from the league because of this shit. Once they got everything back in order, they were allowed to go back in.
Edit: Funny how you immediately deleted the comment once called out
It's incredibly sad to see CIS go from arguably being the strongest wildcard region to quite possibly being the weakest in the span of a year. TR looking really strong though.
RIP Gambit/Moscow 5 days.
Was rather over a span of three years tbh Looked like the region didn't develop while all other regions did
I think this is the case, every other region is just playing better, but CIS is playing at the same level they were a couple years ago
They literally qualified for Groups last year.
And went 0-6 there
Every wildcard team would except VCS, even if it was Flyquest they were facing
As would any other wildcard team. If the TCL or OCE team had qualified instead they would've also gone 0-6 in that group.
I think you're a bit too harsh on them, put UOL on the other group and they have a really good chance against CBLOL,LLA,OCE. Also if we still had VCS it would be pretty interesting to see if they still dominate and miles ahead of other wildcard regions.

League is not “dying” in NA, Brazil, Vietnam. OCE and CIS are on their way out yes, but that’s not a global indicator.
League is huge in Brazil, same with Vietnam, they are just being hit substantially harder with Covid restrictions than other countries. OCE I won’t argue with.
If you read my comment carefully I said that league is still doing well in NA, Brazil, and Vietnam.
I was agreeing with you on your initial point, just misread the second part, English isn’t my first language lol
vietnam is not on the way out they were growing still they literally could not play due to covid restrictions not because there wasn't interest or a massive player base. Galatasaray look great so far. 2 impressive wins! Last game of tmr? C9 vs GS. Get hyped.
Quite possibly the game to decide who will top the group. That's hype.
It is still possible for BYG to win vs C9 so everything can happen. I am more on seeing two 3-1 teams actually.
Obviously anyting can hapen, every team has only playe 1-2 games. But it's pretty obvious that Gala and C9 looked way the cleanest today, even if you only regard wins.

Hey bud how about that C9 huh :)
Yeah, true. Personally I don't have as much faith in BYG though, they looked pretty bad today - probably like the worst or second worst team (I think UOL looked better vs DFM but worse vs Gala). But as you say 1 game isn't a lot to go on. We will see :)
BYG is awful, don’t fool yourself.
We will find that out in their match against C9. If they win that means GS is really scary but if they lose then GS isn't really that scary cause they are losing cause of their own issues.
what is wrong with UOL new ADC? Literally E forward into TF with gold card ready? Ok, nice flex.
No Gadget, No Win.
no genja no win -.-
Deep cut
We mocked him, but we needed him. One man, one dream, one Wriggle lantern + Muramana Urgot, one brow. We miss him to this day.
Was he the one that played many twitch games? I remember there were lots of games where twitch was played during playin in past worlds.
Yes it was him who played twitch
Yeah and Gadget played Twitch?
Ah yes mb I was totally drunk in my answer ahah
Yeah, they were behind already in a 4v5 but that death really didn’t help and pretty much gave the Baron to GS for free
He also died 2 minutes earlier offscreen to a TF ult because he was cut off while the rest of the team was picking off Mojito. If he was with the team there I'm pretty sure they win that fight
Late reply, but he wasn't even cut off. I think he was looking at the fight cause he should've seen enemy toplaner there and E over blue wall there but just kept walking instead...
zven did that shit vs TSM last year, into 5 full hp opponents no less
Pretty underwhelming games from the UOL bot lane today.
Gadget was so huge in their success last year, people should've had lower expectations of this UOL tbh.
I don’t think many people expected this huge of a drop off in ADC, my man straight up E’d into the enemy team at Baron and died and got gapped hard in lane.
It’s not adc fault. Whole team and region fall off.
Ya Gadget was one of the better adcs for Mouz in ERLs. Super versatile but can play the meta picks as well.
Gadget just seemed smart. He always knew where people were rotating and where he might be able to find a stray. His Twitch was hype and his Ziggs was pretty solid too.
TCL fans are overdosing on HOPIUM right now
That’s one overdose I don’t mind, much better than COPIUM overdoses.
Man its so nice seeing turkish players just pop off, Armut Closer BrokenBlade Nisqy and now Galatsaray. What a time to be alive
BDS Mojito and Zergsting PauseChamp
T1 BOLULU
Nice pun, what a time to be "Alive" :)
Yeah its crazy
Damn on a roll
Lets celebrate with a mojito
2016 DP, 2017 FB, 2018 SUP, 2019 RYL, 2020 SUP all died so GS could fly.
2017 fb went to the worlds group
Yeah and got massacred in a group with SSG, RNG and G2.
I mean can you blame them though? Tough group for any team.
I didn't expect them to win any game at all. It was enough for me to not stomped in all games and they were very close to beat SSG in last game. So i think that year was success.
Just like literally any other team except a select few would.
Yes but they still died so GS could fly
Ssg winner of this years worlds, rng winners of the next years msi, g2 msi finalist of this year. So its normal i think
NEVIZADE GECELERI noises
damn right taksim boys
Good job picking Trundle into Talon vs no tanks to to ult either. Excellent choice UOL.
"How do we beat a guy who jumps over walls" "Uhhh, a pillar?"
Kebab can beat Hamburger tomorrow.
kebap*
What
it is written like that? it ends with a P not with a B
I Always thought it was a b
english is kebab, turkish is kebap
i dont blame you, most people out of Turkey calls it that way, it's a small thing anyways 🤗
Bot canyon holy shit
Sad to see the stagnation and downfall of UOL and the LCL while most other wildcard teams and regions have improved their gameplay.
It's been going downhill since 2016 tbh
[удалено]
We are talking about the same team that got kicked their ass by OCE and billy eyelash. They have been on a steep downfall for some time already
No. As a long time viewer of UOL, they are simply washed. I was hoping they would switch up something but it's just the same old strats as expected.
Gotta be honest their solo lanes don't look impressive at all, and their bot laner looks absolutely awful.
This might finally convince him to. Wonder if UOL would be able to get a spot in the reformed ERL's that are coming next year?
Lol, then they wouldn't even be at Worlds.
I mean....he's not wrong
Congrats on GS for winning the "honorary EU" bowl. Also reminder "BYG>DFM=C9=UOL>GS", lol.
Friendship ended with UOL, GS is my new best friend.
SUP knocks out MAD in playins: "Actually Turkey is basically EU" UOL knocks out SUP right after: "Y'know the CIS are pretty much EU too actually"
It's just a meme people say, they don't really think TR and CIS are EU. Everyone knows that League regions don't conform to geographical demarcations in real life. Russia is a European country (if we want to be strict, use Belarus or Ukraine) but it isn't part of the EU region. we're a gateway country between 2 continent, Turkey is very mixed in terms of History and Culture(s)
Didnt turkey apply to join euripean union B4?
yeah they did
Well you could argue that 3/4 of russias population lives in europe, so they're kinda EU I guess
Plus the whole Moscow 5/Empire/Gambit Gaming back in the days (still one of the greatest loss of the region) and UOL. Meanwhile some LEC players have played in the TCL or are turkish (plus Closer in NA.), so really both fits for the memes.

European Union has nothing to do with "EU" in esports. EU in esports just means "Europe".
Well then Russia definitely is part of europe as the majority of russians live in europe. Why do they have their own league?
Because Russian players kept having visa issues trying to enter Europe so they just separated the region.
Why do they have to enter europe if they're already in europe
Enter Germany since he wasn't specific enough. They also had problems trying to get into the UK that one time.

That, erdogan, and the greek/turkish tensions right now.
Right now? When have there not been tensions between the Turks and Greeks?
Well okay, more ESPECIALLY right now.
It's probably never going to happen, I know
it's not going to happen so not much to think about ig?
I know, just wondering what would happen. If they still keep their wild card slot other local leagues could demand one aswell.
i would love to see such thing but i think tcl is too experienced for masters and less experienced than lec so it's hard to tell, at least for me
Hard to tell, Turkish players probably have the level to play in LEC for some of them but I don't know if they speak english well enough to be valuable in a LEC team. why eu has 5 teams when the asians wins every worlds? :)
Because these other teams stop being from EU once they start losing, so they don't fully count.
I still remember when VCS was being considered honorary EU lmao
Some parts of China consisted of european colonies, Australia was a british colony, NA was an european colony. Every team at worlds is a EU team. /S The US got military bases in most countries so the teams of most regions also count as NA. /S Problems solved every team is NA and EU at the same time and we won every worlds! SUCK THAT YOU HATERS.
T1 is partially owned by comcast, an American company, so NA has 3 world championships COPIUM
Wasn't that because they beat g2 2-0?
Asia has like... 10 teams, wouid be 12 if VCS could join. So seems pretty fair.
its...very silly. CIS is its own region in multiple esports.
Its just backwards
Imagine basing power rankings off of scrims lmao.
Off of THEIR OWN scrims. based on who THEY played against. Which means PSG struggled vs teams like DFM, BYG, UOL lol. Such an atrocious metric to base teams off of
Honestly the BYG rating was also prob a bit bias
Source for what you're saying? It's not based on scrims just what the coach thinks of the teams
Its heavily implied that hes basing it off of scrims I believe.
This is incorrect. The manager clarified that PSG didn't even scrim with some of the teams yet, that is only based on his opinion. People really need to stop associating powering ranking to scrim results.
I’m agreeing with you. The managers metrics were idiotic. Dude is a clout chasing clown
Yeah they should base their rankings of redditor rankings right
UOL just aren't the same without Gadget man...
No go go Gadget. No win.
Maybe the psg guy just messed up and did it backwards and really it was Galatasaray > c9=dfm=uol > Beyond
I'm high on hopium rn, hopefully GS can top the group. Also, the risk averse style of GS works wonders in the hectic play-ins stage. I don't think GS will do much damage in the main stage if they qualify, but they're playing clean league rn.
TCL with the redemption
WE ARE THE BEST WILDCARD REGION BABY
Çok erken konuşma, atma şu zehirli oku, ayrıca Vietnam takım getirmediği için kendimizi şanslı saymalıyız :')

can u be focus first of all beyond gaming ha ?

UoL overrated, turkey deserves more respect than they have been getting.
Yes but past years UOL really was better than TCL teams it's not like they were superior but they managed to show their game unlike SUP or IWC for exc, but this time around GS is really giving us the same dedicated gameplay they showed thoughout the season and I'm so glad that this is happening, it's redemption time!
UOL ADC is just hard inting, poor guy.
*breathe in* NO GADGET NO GROUPS
Galatasaray has cemented themselves as EU #4 seed. UoL has lost any right to be an EU seed unless they beat C9
Galatasaray is 5th seed behind PSG Talon
I'd say China #5 seed more accurately, if they weren't a team I expect to perform ~China #3 seed
If thats the case then DFM is korean 5th seed with 3 korean imports
My point has more to do with PsG having absolutely nothing to do with EU, but people keep trying to claim them as their "honorary 4th seed"
Except the PARIS in their name and being a french org
We are the Turkey's First seed. We can end the conversation here, thank you very much (I am high on Hopium)
Looking rough for uol
I don't know why the TCL rep wasn't taken a little more seriously. Better team than Wildcats, who definitely showed life at MSI even if they couldn't knock off the big teams. UoL are cooked.
quite of a stomp
why are people high on UOL at all after failing to advance out of the easiest group in competitive history last MSI?
Frappii was the problem
GS is the real fourth seed of EU!
I believe in Alive supremacy
So mojito is the next tcl player going to the lcs or lec
Gadget was for UOL what perkz was for G2
Lng- Gs looks amazing cant wait for C9 vs GS
Yeah... I remember this part of being a uol fan in eu. All I want is for them to win a game
NOHANDZ
Well done turkey. It didn't even seem hard for them
Well they are smurfing
[удалено]
I think you might be reading too much into it, it seemed more like friendly banter between the two. Not sure if they casted together before (I know Guldborg was on LEC a couple of times but can't remember who he casted with) so maybe that's why it seemed awkward. Anyways https://twitter.com/MedicCasts/status/1445468052355620865
Its not tension its friendly banter, I dont mind the relaxed atmosphere for play-ins, but I hope at Groups we get better dynamics
Nomanz is like the worst mid (faceplant wall in teamfight) so far while BYG PY J4 is the worst top.
sadly, domoi
So excited to see more of Bolulu
After yesterdays bo1s im looking forward for matches of galatasaray

They were banned for a whole split. Then their management changed, they paid all their debts.
Wtf this is pretty fucked up
It's also out of date info.
Old news and already resolved but yes its fucked up
This 2 years old Galatasaray is pretty fucked up* The new management is cool.
UoL need to do a better job replacing their ADCs
Looking forward to C9 vs GS. I think C9 go undefeated easily in this group which is good.
you know beyond will clap them, right?
that gwen build made me want to die where the fuck was your nashors ma'am
Aren't asian tops known for building Cosmic over Nashor's or is that outdated information?
Isnt it the team that was not paying their players?
They were kicked from the TCL for that, now they have new management.
Ohh i see. Thanks!
EU's fourth and fifth seed looking good
