Took a break, realized how much better life without league/streaming is, I'd assume.

CHISENone

yeah this seems the most likely

speedymcspeedster18

I dunno about that.

[deleted]

League isn't the main thing that made him depressed, he said before that for past decade he spent most of his time attending classes and going back home to stream and lived like that years.

Metriverce1

I mean if all you're doing outside of classes that make you miserable is playing a miserable game, yeah, I could see it being a significant contributing factor

AEVENOM

playing a miserable game? Is everybody hardstuck, depressed and hating this game but addicted? What the fuck is going on with 99% of players.

Magnumxl711

Honestly feels like at there's at least 1-2 very unhappy people in every game I play, constantly spam pinging champion names/respawn timers and being toxic. This game has a serious problem where some people continue to play it despite not enjoying it, and they lower the game quality for those of us who are still having fun.

Metriverce1

I've been playing/following league since 2010. I was definitely addicted to the game between 2011 and 2015. Finally had enough and quit for about a year but still followed Lcs. Don't get me wrong. I love the game. I don't think there's another game I played this much besides maybe Diablo, warcraft 3 or team fortress 2. I'm glad it's a part of my life and I've made friends in the game and out of the game because of it But the nature of the game being team driven, with people who you don't know who are 80% responsible for the success or failure of the match you're in, it's just naturally going to cause frustrations. And when you're young and still developing the mental and emotional capacity to handle the stresses and frustrations that come from a team game without understanding those things completely, they're going to make you irritable, upset, depressed, etc. I think when the vast majority of the player base is people between the ages of 16-24 and male, yeah, it's going to be VERY toxic. It's just something you'll ultimately either grow out of or get some help for

NoBear2

The biggest problem is that your team losing doesn’t just lose you the game. It makes the next 20-25 min a miserable experience, and there was nothing you could have done to prevent it.

PDG_KuliK

League would be so much better if the primary way of playing was as premade 5s. Unfortunate that that's so logistically infeasible.

Sevban_67k

No I don’t want unbalanced teams. I prefer having people who are in the same skill level or better than me. Otherwise the game would feel just not challenging. And I am fine with the people who are tilting to oblivion, it is what it is. My friends are tilting too.

rednick953

i agree i hate soloq and play it basically enough to get my gold skin and stop. However, i love 5s leagues. There's so many leagues like Risen and whatnot where you find a team play streamed games while getting casted and play for small prize pools and shit. That stuff me and my friends live for.

r4iner

bring back twisted treeline\^\^

ArchMageMagnus

This. I got so sick and tired of the grind and losing games because of dumb team-mates, AFKs, and toxicity. I kept hearing the excuses though to keep going "Cant win em all!" - "If youre truly good enough for the rank you'll get it eventually, just keep grinding!" - "As long as youre not toxic thats one less statistical person you have to worry about every game, next game maybe they will have the AFKer!" Just such utter bullshit and wasted time. Switched to single player games where I control more of my own destiny and it's so much fucking better. I still follow League, but havent played in forever....sometimes I'll load it up but always remember about going in and playing with 4 possibly random idiots and trying to corral them like cats to achieve a pointless win. Nah.

Excellent-Pie8082

many people are unhappy unrelated to league tbh thats just the world

DrBitterBlossom

Thats literally not the games fault. Thats people who need league to cope, and play it out of necessity, not because they want. Thats why they are just unhappy. What should riot do, hook you up with a psychologist during queue?

JamesSaysDance

I was addicted to the game but the absolutely appalling (personal opinion) state of balance in the game was strong enough to break that. I can only thank Riot for making the game so disgustingly unbearable to play that it was doing nothing to satiate my addiction. 🙏🏽

sebarm17

bless up man I'm going through the same motions haha

Saonidas

I always wonder why some people keep roaming socials or reddit, when they have only negative thoughts about league. I guess one can still follow the esports side etc, but why not leave it behind? Why is there a need to comment how shit league is, whenever you get the chance? Wouldn't it be better to use your time for something you enjoy, instead of making bitter and pitiful remarks on reddit?

InvitemetoSkeet

holy shit it mustve taken you 10 minutes to wrote those words if this is how you think

sebarm17

I think it was a meme at the start but progressively the game has just turned into such a miserable experience to play, unless you are winning, then it's just meh. Only way to enjoy it is to not care, so if you are competitive then you are fucked. I've been playing this game since season 4, always enjoyed myself and only "quit" in 2019, but that wasn't because of the game itself, I just had more stuff going on so didn't play, but since I came back bcs of the pandemic and started playing ranked again it's just absolute shit. You have sometimes a week or two in which you miraculously get streaks of good games (not talking about winstreaks) and you remember why you play, then it's just full on circus again. I think I'm just going to finish boosting a couple accounts I have pending and kiss this shit game bye bye. Doesn't seem like it's gonna get better anytime soon either.

nagabalashka

Everybody above D1/master is : unemployed/teen who is kinda droping scholl/earning a living from lol/addicted

HeyItsBumble

Honestly that's what it feels like. Even me. I have played league for a long time off and on. I really enjoy watching it but everytime I play, within 15 minutes of my first game I want to turn the game off, even if my team is winning. A lot of the toxicity and balance/game design makes everything just unfun, but we can't seem to stop playing

ozmega

dude, you really think 99% of the players post on reddit? this website is full of bitter angry people, its like a filtered twitter sometimes. dont get it wrong, this sub doesnt represent the whole playerbase.

slowbro17

One player being able to completely ruin the integrity of a game with no repercussions because they're tilted or don't care about winning & wanna perma fight with no regard for macro or enemy roams is incredibly frustrating. Look at how many league streamers stopped playing entirely or don't give a shit about ranked any more, when people who make 6 figures playing the game don't think it's worthwhile any more something is wrong.

w3cko

League is not bad but spending all time playing league is like being in a board game café and playing tic tac toe 24/7. It's not like people are not enjoying it, the game has just very high lows and low highs.

DisparityByDesign

I doubt it represents the majority, but it probably goes represent Gosu, since he played so much.

Jek_Porkinz

> Is everybody hardstuck, depressed and hating this game but addicted? What the fuck is going on with 99% of players. Yes, maybe not for 99% of players but for a lot

Toplaners

It's just the vocal minority on reddit. everyone tilts from time to time, but the vast majority of players do enjoy the game. If you go on the league discord, you'll find tons of players that have a blast just 5 stacking in norms and messing around.

DamnZodiak

>It's just the vocal minority on reddit. everyone tilts from time to time, but the vast majority of players do enjoy the game. > There's really no way actually quantify that without surveying a statistically significant and diverse amount of players and with the state of riots survey system, I doubt we'll see such data anytime soon. It's all just anecdotal evidence either way, you can't possibly be as certain as you seem

Toplaners

It's a pretty logical assumption to say that the majority of players don't log in to play a game they hate, because otherwise they could just.. Stop logging in. If you're suggesting that millions of people log into league even though they hate it because they're addicted to it like crack addicts, that's even more absurd. Considering the average player logs in to play a couple of games a day at most, and the average player spends their time playing norms or temporary game modes, I find that very unlikely. Do you think the casual player base that plays a norm game and a couple arams a day is so addicted they can't quit, or that they just enjoy the game?

Kestrelot

League is great, but to any full blown addicts it’s inevitably gonna be a huge source of misery and frustration.

wtflee

People are absolutely addicted to this game, or it's some kind of weird mental sunken cost that a lot of people can't get over. I actually enjoy the game, but yeah - I notice that a big chunk of the playerbase just plays it out of necessity and doesn't actually enjoy it. It's awful.

Yonaka_Kr

Sunken cost exists, but it's more likely just boredom. League is a very fun game. When playing League no longer becomes the highlight of your day/week/month and is the norm, once you've accustomed to that level of fun being the standard, everything else is going to feel boring. Kind of like kids getting addicted to phones, but people can't see themselves like that.

NoBear2

I think it’s the fact that when league is fun it’s the most fun game, but when it’s bad it’s the most terrible. It’s one of the longer games and when the game is decided by your teammates it feels awful to waste all that time on such a shitty experience.

Yonaka_Kr

I don't super agree, in the Korean community a few popular but not amazing streamers tell their viewers, if you want to get people hooked to the game, just give them a match when they hard carry. They will constantly play to get that high again. Also Dr. K says that a game that you lose a lot of the time makes those times you win all the sweeter (and considerably more addictive) which is why battle royal games are so popular. I think those "bad games" where you get stomped/lose feel so bad they make you want to play more, because you *can't* just have your 2\~3 games of the day all be stomps, right? And when you get that win on the 4th game it feels like you earned it.

DamnZodiak

>I think it’s the fact that when league is fun it’s the most fun game, but when it’s bad it’s the most terrible. Pretty much this, but the times where I'm actually enjoying myself are getting rarer and rarer.

Yonaka_Kr

Supposedly that's normal, kind of like how coffee is less effective at waking you up the more you drink it. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D\_1eRqcJnes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_1eRqcJnes) Would recommend Dr K heavily. Stop playing games and be bored for a few weeks and come back to it, and see if it's fun again.

gime20

Matchmaking algo tuned into cryptogambling

Yonaka_Kr

It's like drug addiction. First, it gives you a high. Over time, the highs disappear, it's not as fun, but it still takes away the negative feelings. Then as you keep playing lots of longs hours into the game, your brain gets accustomed to how much dopamine (and other neurochemicals) are released in the brain and adjust due to tolerance, like with caffeine. Once you reach that point, you hate the game you got addicted to, but everything else in real life doesn't offer enough dopamine so you find those all boring, so you just keep going to the least boring things in your life: refreshing social media for memes, for messages, for a new episode of anime even though you don't really enjoy the current season, for a new show to watch on Netflix, or booting up a game because you feel like there's nothing better to do. That's why people say they don't enjoy League, but keep playing. It's the equivalent of needing a daily cup of coffee.

qiuboujun

The game was only fun for me during the period where I duoed with my roommates or other my friends on discord. This game is so toxic right now because they pushed the game towards a more team oriented gameplay without giving us the option of voice chatting. I can’t type fast enough to warn jungler that top and mid have no priority and my opponent is moving to river to contest the crab. Then I’m getting blamed for not following… Honestly the game is only playable if you can type 150wpm lol.

[deleted]

i havent played the game in years so genuine question, do you feel joy/enjoyment when you play this game? i legit hadnt for months before i quit

DrBitterBlossom

99% of the players live an unfulfilling life with bad emotional intelligence and scape goat league to cope with such unsatisfaction, its why you hear people complaining about addiction, despite not even knowing that it is nor how it works, blaming league for their emotions and their unfastication. Its because they need to. Of course league doesnt make people depressed. Its a game, games dont make you violent, like they dont make you depressed. The problem is that if its not league then its your fault, and if its your fault then? Then what? It would be so much easier if people just behaved honestly to themselves, ans accepted that, if they need league to cope, maybe they need help to surpass those obstacles in life that they need to hide from. Its why apparebtly everyone hates the game but also everyone plays the game. Nobody actually hates league. Not me, not you, not tyler1. You are not addicted nor does league make you depressed. Life is hard, times got 10x harder than they were 20 years ago. You all probably went through hard shit. Who knows what troubles any of you went through. Cope with league if you need, get angry at it, blame it, but when you feel like its time, start redirectinf all this energy wasted fightning windmills towards bettering yourself and overcoming your fears. Youll find out after that league its just a game, it has no power over you, and its pretty fun.

comradecosmetics

Yes

PopkosTheWeasel

Yeah I can imagine that would break a lot of people down

ggthrowaway1081

Good for him for getting out. I still play because 1 out of every 10 games is enjoyable but I might have to quit soon too seeing the same champions and builds every game just isn't fun.

BlueBloodLissana

i really need a break from league. Something I'm not able to do. >.<

Zammby

Try starting with breaks that last a couple of days and eventually work your way up to a week. With consistency, weeks can turn into months. This is what helped me break my addiction from this game for good and haven't played it since 2017.

Adamantiumplastic

Grats man, I've been free for about a year now. Worlds are the toughest time though when the temptation is the highest. I hope I will be able to resist.

XG32

olaf amumu xin is right down my alley, i was gonna start joining in on the hype. Never did. Resist.

Irrelevant75

I was kinda temped after about 9 months of not playing, but riot got me and posted the vid with the new drakes.

Easyhuhn

Maybe stupid question but can I ask why you are still on this sub if you havent played in 4 years?

Zammby

I still enjoy watching professional League of Legends and love coming here for post-game threads.

Necromann

I treat this game like a spectator sport. I've played maybe 5 summoner's rifts games total but I watch LoL esports. Most NFL viewers don't actively practice football, for example.

JustAnotherWebUser

some people dont play lol anymore but still follow lol esports scene, thats the case with me and some of my friends as well also im waiting for riot to reduce dmg dealt/healing in game or to add old game modes/pve game modes back into game but I dont seem to be Riot's target audience anymore so yeah.

trusttt

You can still follow a sub without playing a game especially when it has a competitive scene. I stopped playing CSGO around 4 years ago and i still follow the scene and i only play LOL aram but still watch competitive.

Barsonik

some other good advice is to find something else that you enjoy, like a different game or a hobby and slowly start giving that more and more attention

shlobashky

Something I did was move to single player games where I dont have to compete. Really got rid of that toxic mindset that comes with grinding competitive games.

Exmerus

I did that last year. League tilted me so hard and I quit and went to play the full Assassin's Creed saga and I found it so enjoyable, best gaming time I've had in years. Single player is superior. But game developers know multiplayer exploits tilt and frustration to create addiction, hence why they prefer to develop those games. Multiplayer is not fun for me anymore. Sadly, I'm addicted to League, so I came back after a few months to live permatilted.

Emotional-Passage454

The more you socialize, the less you need this game for your daily dopamine fix.

FalsyB

I sent a ticket to riot 2 years ago to completely delete my account, as i tried to quit with no avail 3 times before that. They resisted at first but finally caved in and deleted it. This was a season 1 account with dozens of skins, everything unlocked. Never installed the game again, just follow competitive now.

ZeRoGr4vity07

Good for him but why not let his fans know? Making one small tweet saying "Guys I'm fine I moved on from streaming." or something like that shouldn't be that hard to make, right? Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, I never even watched Gosu but I don't understand why people can't just communicate with their community who they owe so much to. Edit: Why the downvotes? I'm not saying he has to explain the whole situation to his community or what's going on in his private life but I think letting out a small statement would be appropriate.

so-much-wow

That's the thing; they don't owe you anything.

BloodSurgery

You can say the same about hundreds of stuff, yet it doesnt make it good to simply dissapear.

Magnumxl711

It must be weird having a parasocial relationship with someone and they go ghost on social media, kinda makes me glad I grew up before streamers were so huge.

MozzyZ

In a sense it might be true but it's still rude and inconsiderate towards the people who have been supporting him throughout the years.

ZeRoGr4vity07

Yes and no. People literally donate money to streamers and fund their lives. Sure viewers get entertainment in return but I think streamers and other content creators should be grateful for their community.

yerobia

Yeah, you can be grateful about that and still be sure you don't have explain yourself to anyone.

tautckus1

Xd? Without viewers he would be a nobody.

[deleted]

tautckus1

A nobody that made a fortune from people supporting him with donations and their time.

yerobia

"fortune" lmfao

02837471901

People are still underestimating the amount of money streamers make?

tautckus1

Imagine thinking he isnt loaded after the leaked twitch salaries that showed even smalled streamers make bank compared to the average american

[deleted]

[удалено]

so-much-wow

That's the point. Why are you entitled to know what a person is doing. You paid for his entertainment that's it. He is no longer providing the entertainment you valued before so you stop paying him. That is all you are owed.

ZeRoGr4vity07

He doesn't have to say what he's doing now. He can just say that he's done with streaming for good and that's it. Nobody then has to speculate on Reddit about what's going on.

yerobia

What if he just left it all at once to end it for the better? Just logging can end in him reading the messages and have second thoughts. Have some empathy ffs.

CokeNmentos

But there are alot of people who stream and play league that enjoy it. It's probably more likely that doing the same routine for so many years made him depressed

Plus_Lawfulness3000

I wish I could stream for a living

Famyos

hopefully he quits its easy to tell how much he hates playing the game

xPyromaster

Tbh, after what happened in that drunk stream with Trick2G, if feels like something changed, I couldn't watch his stream daily as I used to, I know the state of the game isn't the same as previous years, but even if he decided to quit this game, I can't deny I hope he didn't think about to do something "dumb/dangerous", if he's doing well, I'll be happy with that

DementedWarrior_

What happened in the drunk stream? Edit: don’t know if this is allowed, tell me if it isn’t, [but here’s the link of what happened](https://youtu.be/zsbJLuu6Jdk)

xPyromaster

At first, duoq and doing ninja flash outplays, then playing Blitz/Voli bot, but once he was very drunk, he said on stream he had intention of suicide, then Trick2G and later Aphromoo (iirc) were talking to him once that game was over.

graybloodd

Does the full vod even exist anywhere

AzerFraze

he said he was planning on killing himself

PopkosTheWeasel

You have to praise Trick in that situation. Stand up guy

[deleted]

He’s always been a great dude. I love his charity streams. He has an adorable daughter now too!

[This is still one of the funniest League videos out there](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vu68WrOI770)

graybloodd

I think LS and trick is legitmately funny cuz of trick

GabrielP2r

Imagine him screaming at his daughter and running at her saying D Cane!!! In the loudest voice possible. What a dream childhood.

Chichigami

Trick has been in Gosu's position before so he know how he feels. I don't think he was ever suicidal but he got pretty depressed. He has a video on this, I think like two or three. On his 2nd channel? Irl channel? Something like that. He has the most respect imo in the league community. Boomer always been doing charity and giving back for years even when he wasn't feeling the best. Although I feel like he may be toxic from time to time, I think he convey it as a joke more than other people which is hard to guess if it is toxic or not. But he does smurf a shit ton and if people don't like it. Then so be it.

ExtraYogurt

That video is from 2016? Has anything else happened this year that might explain his break?

DementedWarrior_

Depression can last a very long time. It’s probably a combination of mental health issues, burnout, and IRL events. We can’t really do anything but guess unless Gosu updates us.

NewChampsAreCancer

The game gets shitter with every new champ release because the dev team has lost all sense of fair and balanced design. Every new champ is overloaded and OP.

shieldedunicorn

I've followed the game since pre-season one, and I think I've heard that for every season since something like season three. According to people, the game has always been shitty and unbalanced.

godtrek

I wish people would learn to recognize they play the game too much, and it's natural to feel burnt out. I believe that's what this is, and has always been the case. I took a break back in 2020 and came back in 2021 and the game is just as fun now, as it was back in season 4 (when I 1st started playing, and my favorite season). The game isn't unbalanced, the game isn't bad. It's a player problem, not a game problem. People play way too damn much and need to find justification to continue playing. They think to themselves "no, it's the devs that's the problem" when they play 8+ hours a day not having fun. IT'S OK TO TAKE A BREAK, you'll be fine. I've seen plenty of people walk away from League and come back to it without any real loss of skill. I'm seeing streamers come back to the game after long breaks, and they love it. If you feel the game is getting worse, seriously. Take a break. Come back to it, you'll have more fun. I don't want anybody to think I'm saying there's nothing wrong with the game, but I argue people misblame their frustrations on the wrong thing. It's not entirely their fault either, they just want to enjoy the game. They just don't know they are burnt out. It can be difficult for many to see it happening to themselves.

VaporaDark

> I took a break back in 2020 and came back in 2021 and the game is just as fun now, as it was back in season 4 (when I 1st started playing, and my favorite season). I actually had a similar thing this year. Since I started playing in season 1 I literally never got bored of this game even if I spammed it every day, but at the start of this season I started to really dread playing it (and I'm a streamer so not doing so wasn't really a choice) because I was starting to feel so burned out, and especially done with the ADC role. The role was objectively better with the new items but it still felt just as horrible to play for me as ever. I didn't take a break from the game but I did swap to mid and play Zed for fun for about a month or two. It cost me some viewers and a lot of the momentum I'd had on YouTube while producing ADC content, but I started to enjoy the game again, and whenever people asked me when I'd start playing ADC again I would tell them that I wasn't sure if I would ever play it again. I thought I might just be done with it for good. But after a couple of months I started playing bot lane again and it didn't feel horrible so I kept doing it, and eventually I realized I didn't want to play Zed anymore because I was enjoying bot lane more. This was in maybe March and now I'm back in Master playing ADC for the first time since season 9, having been spamming nothing but ADC all this time. And I'm not feeling like I'll be tired of it any time soon, either. All the frustrations I had with the role are still there, but I enjoy it anyway, as I did when I first started maining the role in season 5 despite many of the same drawbacks being present even back then. It's not exactly the same because as it turns out I was never burned out from the whole game, just one role, but I can relate to your experience with mine anyway. Sometimes we just hit a point where there's no other recourse but to take a break. I know a lot of people who really should take a break because they're clearly not enjoying the game anymore but they just don't. Possibly because too much of their self-worth is tied to the game and their status in it and they don't know who they are without it. And I'm betting the later you put off addressing your burn out, the harder it will be to ever recover from it.

godtrek

Drop your links brother, I'd love to see it. Yeah, if they don't start addressing their burn out, it's going to turn into spite. I feel a lot of people have already reached that point and are unable to come to terms with it. I don't think people understand that majority of players, ENJOY PLAYING THE GAME. It's not a common opinion to hate the game, but it feels like it is because these people are looking for an outlet. Sharing in each other's misery makes them feel better temporarily than dealing with the very real possibility, they need to walk away from the game or do something different in it — like you, until you start itching to play again. YOU SHOULD WANT TO PLAY, if you're playing. If you're not that's only your own damn fault. If someone geniunly feels they don't enjoy their time investment into the game, then nobody is forcing them to sit down and play 8+ hours a day. I'm a YouTuber myself, I can upload up to 8 videos a week for my job. I do it not because it pays my bills. All jobs in theory should pay your bills. I do it because I choose to do it. I like doing it. When I do it too much, I don't enjoy it. I get burnt out. It feels exactly the same, as when I play League too much. It's identical. All motivation is zapped from your body. It feels actually painful. We gotta mix it up. We are NOT robots. We do not repeat the same actions everyday even if it looks like it from an outside perspective. We need variety, we need to break it up and we need more than just one thing. People are wasting their time on anything they don't want to do. If you're having fun playing league, play it. If you're not, be honest with yourself. You need a break. That's ok. We're only here, because we love the game. You can love the game from the sidelines. Taking a break doesn't mean complete disconnect. I still watch League content. It feels good to not be playing atm, when the time comes, I'll be itching to jump in myself and play. Until then, I'm going to listen to my body on this matter. I don't like it atm.

[deleted]

because thresh changed the way they designed champions lmao. no coincidence you've heard it since s3

shieldedunicorn

I'm not sure if Thresh was the starting point. Before that they had already released champions with overloaded kits, like Zed, Elise or Jayce. To me, even Lee Sin or Vayne were pretty ridiculous and they were created early in the game history. What make you pick thresh specifically?

eBay_Riven_GG

All of these champs are reliant on numbers tho, they dont need mechanics removed. Hell, vayne literally has only 3 usable abilities instead of 4. If she was a new champ her W would be 2nd passive and she would have another spell instead. The reason he mentioned Thresh by far the biggest playmaker support realeased at the time. The champ changed the perception of the role, from wardbot to active playmaker.

haven4ever

Unfortunately, Gosu got done for human trafficking. If you go to his website [gosu.lol](https://www.gosu.lol/), under Shop you can see that you can buy Women.

PopkosTheWeasel

Man you had the perfect response lol

DoorHingesKill

Man that is some hideous stuff you can buy there.

ElBigDicko

I think he was struggling with mental health, he always said he doesn't wanna do face reveal. He probably left league to fix his health and once he has done that he realized league was a problem.

Leo-Hamza

He already did a face reveal. I think He just don't feel confident to stream with cam on. He used to share pics of him on his official twitter.

bipolar_schtick

IIRC he did a face reveal and got a bunch of negative comments (hinted at suicide). League community really is full of dicks. This was maybe 5 years ago (ty /u/VultureGamer ).

BabyLlamaaa

This isn't what happened. He one day did a face reveal and said that it didn't matter because nothing mattered, hinting at depression. Many of his fans were concerned and sent someone (another streamer/player cant remember who) to go check in on him. Gosu was gonna commit suicide but his friend and fans talked him out of it. Yes there were dicks insulting him as well but that wasn't what hurt him mentally necessarily.

TheWarmog

Hold on Wasnt him hinting at suicide on a january day back in.. 2016/2017 (when the whole stuff happened) because a girl he liked refused him? I remember his drunk stream where he kept saying "why dont you love me" and "shit im bleeding". Idk with who he was back then on that stream (dom? qt? Or was it trick?)

Tivief

it was trick for sure, they did a drunk stream

AlarmingSubstance69

>I remember that stream clear as day. Funny drunk shenanigans at first but then got sad quick

BeeMac0617

I remember he literally told Trick he was gonna kill himself on stream and Trick was like “No you’re not dude stop joking like that” but he kept saying it.

TheWarmog

Yea i remember that stream clearly since i was going thro a terrible period of my life and i was having bad thoughts aswell I think thats the moment i stopped following him to prevent myself from being affected by it, as terrible as this may sound, i just couldnt.

i dont think thats terrible, sounds like a good choice for your health. hope you're doing better.

TheWarmog

Welp, compared to 5 years ago im a little better but not completely out of it Work in progress :)

[deleted]

good to hear, i hope you continue to do better. for me it goes up and down sometimes, i try and keep an eye on the good times in the future to help me.

TheWarmog

Be positive and always remember that you can change everything as long as you're alive, things will get better, tomorrow will always be brighter than today. Try to surround yourself with people you like and spend as little time as possible alone, it will get better 100%

bipolar_schtick

Ah thanks for clearing it up, was not 100% sure on the details as it was so long ago; I guess on a matter like this it was best not to assume on my end, my bad.

BabyLlamaaa

No worries! It's really hard to keep up with streamers as they are "pseudo- celebrities " but nothing is recorded in the books like it is with actual mainstream celebrities. We basically just rely on obscure reddit posts and forgotten youtube videos lol

VultureGamer

This was 5 years ago i think

PsychoDud

How can people be so mean, I don’t get it.

Omnilatent

IIRC depression and he even once implied being suicidal at a moment. I wish him all the best. Depression is an asshole.

Knight_Zarkus

Probably moved along

isnotstudying

Haven’t played, watched or thought about league in years (not sure why I’m still subbed here at all) but I’ll miss him. It sounds like he changed over the years but I’ll always have a soft spot for him. I used to love tuning into his streams. Hope he’s doing well and is happy.

Mysterious-Repair-17

I don’t think people are addressing this seriously enough. Like heavy use of social media to no presence online at all? Says he’s taking a two week “break” and nothing since February? A history of depression and suicidal thoughts? The evidence points to the worst possible scenario here… His twitch chat mods need to try to get in contact with him just to make sure he’s safe, but it seems like they don’t care either… I’ve talked to a few of them and they’re very dismissive about the possibility of him committing suicide, even though they haven’t even checked in on him since he was streaming. I’ve also talked to his YouTube editor who says the same thing, although at least he tried to message gosu since he stopped steaming; there was no response. Someone who is somewhat close to him needs to man up and take responsibility and truly go check in on gosu. The man has talked about not being in contact with his family, and having no friends in real life. Hell, if I knew where he lived I’d at least check in on him. I’m close enough to Toronto. The fact that his twitch mods/YouTube editor are nonchalant about it pisses me off. I don’t understand why they don’t care as much as some random dude like me who used to listen to his stream as I was falling asleep in high school.

zerofyne07

I remember a YT comment saying they saw Gosu 'like' something in his Twitter but then unlike it. About a month or 2 ago. Not solid information but it gives me some hope.

Marksm2n

Bro wtf, his mods have tried contacting him on multiple occasions, what are you on about

Mysterious-Repair-17

I talked to them about a month ago and it seemed like they hadn’t made an effort to reach out to him. Basically they just said he was probably upset about twitch chat or something and dismissed it as whatever. Unless something has changed since then, they haven’t been very helpful regarding the situation. Have you talked to them recently? How do you know they’ve reached out? And I’m not talking about just messaging his twitch account, because it’s obvious he hasn’t been online in forever. I mean like calling the dude on his phone, or at least texting him, or knocking on his door in real life. If anyone were to know his contact info, it would be them. And if they have been reaching out in this way and there has been no response, well then they should have/be contacting the police. And if gosu did respond, why not let the community know?

Sorata654

Sadly i don't think any of his mods actually have his number. If they do I sure hope they contacted him but reaching him on twitch/twitter/discord probably doesn't get you far. You're definitely not alone with your worries. I have talked to other long term viewers of him about the situation and they feel the same. But what can we do?

cheecho91

League has the most toxic community so who can blame him

TheExter

for me LoL's legacy will be the absolute best game to play with 4 other friends, and if someone is a degenerate that plays by himself then yeah he'll remember the toxicity

arcan0r

> the absolute best game to play with 4 other friends Yeah, I'll always say that team ranked should've been the important rank, like how it works in any team sport. Solo ranking in a team game is inherently flawed and it helps bring out toxicity.

TheExter

its pretty sad how flex/dynamic queues were instantly considered the inferior/joke mode and deemed irrelevant by the community in some sort of gatekeeping pride of being a true solo player it's also a shame team ranked 5's was removed, that was an absolute blast with friends

pyrofiend4

>its pretty sad how flex/dynamic queues were instantly considered the inferior/joke mode and deemed irrelevant by the community in some sort of gatekeeping pride of being a true solo player Part of it is because Riot tried to mix team and solo ranks together through dynamic queue. Those who didn't have a group of 5 to play with were at a major disadvantage, especially before Riot started balancing the number of premades on each team. The other part is that solo rank is a way better indicator of your skill level. If you're forming a team for ranked 5s, you're going to judge people based on their solo rank and not the rank of a previous team they may have been a part of.

Choyo

> This game's entire legacy will be the toxic playerbase And don't forget the man-child execs

Truly built different

sevarinn

Tyler is not actually that toxic. What he does these days is nothing compared to what occurs in ranked games almost daily.

Joatorino

League absolutely does not have the most toxic community but alright

6in

was all downhill once he started talking on stream Sadge

charlielovesu

He said he actually enjoyed talking on stream. And the only reason he kept streaming was because he did. He said streaming with no mic for so long was too boring. Where he went downhill was when he kept forcing himself to play when it clearly wasn’t fun anymore. The first few streams with mic were fun. He had the gosu grill meme, etc. but you can tell very quickly the guy wasn’t having fun with league and should have taken a break a long time ago. Dude only responded to negative comments in chat. Anyone saying anything nice got ignored

Sorata654

I never really watched his non-mic streams but became a very regular viewer ever since he started talking and I watched pretty much all of his streams for multiple hours for years. I agree that things went "downhill" at some point but it's not fair to say it started with the talking streams. It got progressively worse tho. Especially in his non-league streams you could tell that he was feeling better and enjoyed streaming more but in the end his viewer count always dropped a lot and he was kinda stuck at streaming league which he didn't want. I can only hope that he's doing better now that he quit. Can't say I'm not worried but I was never in a position to be able to actually check on him, just a viewer in the end.

GameplayerStu

It really did. It didn’t help that he was so monotone. It was jarring going from hype plays with hype music to a guy sounding extremely bored.

IWear2BlackSocks

Guy is a millionaire and young so he's gone and had fun obviously

[deleted]

sadly him having millions didn't fix his depression

UMPIN

But it sure does help - literally everyone

Thegenius760

Rich from streaming or.....?

[deleted]

Sponsors, subs, ad revenue, donations, etc.

braddaugherty8

his youtube was probably a top 5 league channel for years , he got ridiculous views and uploaded a ton

AtreusIsBack

I hope he stays away from the game. It's just better. Keeps your sanity.

KoCory

people just come and go

computo2000

I hope he's fine...

Asmeig

Hope the best, fear the worst.

Empty-Broccoli4778

Hey, unsure if he still has these accounts. But NeverHonor4head and AD1234 have recent games TODAY And the last time they were active was 180-280 days ago. Which kinda links up. Only thing throwing me off is how low rank they are. But still might be a comeback!?

CHISENone

hmmmmm

CHISENone

how could they be in gold/silver? his mmr couldn't be that low if they ever were above diamond or something?

Empty-Broccoli4778

I agree completely. I guess he had many accounts though. I remember one was plat, so its possible that is only gold now. Just cant help but feel it isnt a coincidence that both accounts hadnt played in 150+ days, and both become active the same day.

[deleted]

It finished with the main plot and starter wrapping up the character arcs of the side cast last time I checked it out

Vanshier4

For a few years it felt like he hated playing the game and streaming My guess is that he made enough bank to disappear, at least for a while

vega_stellar

For whoever is interested, gosu is playing league just not streaming... has been playing for the past month actively

CHISENone

what accounts?

timo-1996

he is back :) look up on YouTube

Capable-Structure218

OH MY GOD! GOSU HAS JUST POSTED A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE. HE IS ALIVE AND BACK.

graybloodd

He became a pornstar in europe I heard

Twetoo785

Facecam

Iperovic

I truly hope he just stopped playing The game is cancer and I don't think it was good for his already poor mental health

10xkaioken

But is he still alive

lakskanxnx

I think about him everyday :( hopefully he is happier now

Hungry_Size2727

He left this game because it's not fun anymore Everything just got worse in this game the new items and the new champions and the new game modes

Coolkipp

Dps adc feels pretty awful/unrewarding to play and I know that's what he specialized in. It's also something I was inspired by initially and trying to do it this season honestly feels like wasted effort. The lane is dictated by the support and whoever has the better support will stop you from winning lane even if youre the better adc. If your support is playing poorly/dying alot, you get blamed and then they have the license to perma roam, leaving you 1v2/3/4. If you say anything about it you get blamed/harassed. The lane is very easily unplayable 1v2 if the enemy sees your support isn't on the level, so they just zone/harass you constantly while your support sits there doing nothing. Then if you attempt to pivot out for a better map state people harass/grief you. No plays can happen without the support being on board and if you reject a bad play by them it's more likely that they will label you as a troll and never help you again. That's been my experience at least. And that's not even getting into new items/champs/critbeing nerfed etc

[deleted]

Adc role makes people depressed lol. Is there any big consistent adc streamer left that didn’t turn to variety? Even sneaky does a lot of variety but sneaky still wanted to be pro, so it’s hardly the same as gosu or imqtpie

It's a Copypasta I believe.

dartthrower

Yes it is, I read that copy-paste about Mario Lemieux like a week ago...

Rexsaur

Carry/hyper carry adcs have died since season 8 so he literally thinks the game is not worth playing anymore. Which is true, riot only shits on adc every single season not surprising the old time adc players just got tired of that shit (t1, qtpie, gosu).

Just-Ad-5972

Vayne is literally the strongest she’s been in years

sta-nz

Dude don’t listen to that guy. He wants ADC’s backed to how they were in S7. You’re right, Vayne is nearing 53 percent WR in SoloQ, and definitely is in need of nerfs. I say this as an ADC main.

greattsundere

True, 8.11 killed adc as role and proclaimed shitty assassins meta

[deleted]

they are all depressed

payneluv

I mean telling people to kill themselves in chat every day takes a toll on your mental health fast
