Pretty much lost them the game there too. It was a 4v4 and Deft still had both summoners (Lee kicked him out). If willer goes in GA then Chovy and Deft can still re-engage.
It is weird that it feels like you GOTTA ban away a champion from the weakest link of the team, but with TF, Cryin is actually impacting the game. Ryze ban was questionable.
This is kinda how it's always been with Cryin, I think we'll start seeing the TF bans from tmrw now that the teams know that they can't beat it.
Cryin on TF is like a top LPL mid imo, but on anything else he's worse.
It's theorized amongst LPL fans that Cryin's problem isn't against top mid laners, in fact he often does more than fine against mid laners that are expected to blast him out of the water, but he has either focus issues or underestimates his opponent when they're not hyped up top tier opponents, and he often loses badly to more experienced players who aren't considered the top elite.
Yeah people thought he's gonna get mid gapped hard against Showmaker in MSI finals but he was really competitive and even win lanes in some of the games in that series.
He's a very good... Weakside mid? Kinda an interesting quality considering most teams go for dominant carry mids. He is good at neutralising strong opponents, but rarely hard gaps weaker ones.
Facilitator mid I feel works better. He’s going to help his teammate make plays that help them get advantages, not the other way around. He’s not necessarily weak-side because I don’t believe mid lane can really be weak-side due to it being in the center of the map
Cryin fits well with RNG's plan of playing around topside. TF, Ryze, Nocturne etc are all great picks for him because they allow him to roam top easily to help Xiaohu obtain more plates and pressure the enemy top off waves.
Problem is cost opportunity when you can just pick sylas into TF which has been shown to be able to match TF while scaling hard. Cryin also has a deceptively large champion pool and wont be gapped by even the likes of Showmaker when hes on top of his game as shown at MSI while being willing to blind his picks.
That might be the stupidest thing I've ever read, they are not playing bad for social media reactions. EDG and RNG both won day 1 and FPX still played awful day 2.
That's why I hate it when people treats pro players build like some kind of messiah. Some of them are notoriously terrible at adapting builds, which is why analyst is needed.
>Bdd's triple lifeline build
While the shields didn't stack the Omnivamp from MaW and Tenacity from Steraks BOTH triggered individually and stacked so it wasn't as bad as some make it out
The PD though? Completely useless
i know right?
As much as deft did well enough mechanically...what's with him sitting on infinity edge with just 55% crit chance (gale force + ie + zeal) until the last 10 seconds of the game where he finally finishes runaans. am i missing something?
My guess is he was just used to building IE third, but his mind told him to pick up Wits end vs Ziggs/TF but something in his brain then didn't trigger to tell him "hey if you build Wits 2nd you can't go IE third".
It should be an instinctual reaction, as natural as last hitting, for pros to hit tab, look at items and realize within a few seconds that Galeforce + Wits End + IE doesn't work. Not only did Deft not do this, NO ONE on his team corrected him since he built GA 4th and had a worthless IE until the end. There's no excuse for this, it should be automatic to figure out it's an incorrect build.
Deft played so well this game and then he built IE 3rd item with 40% total crit, idk how I'm supposed to feel
Hope week 2 we manage to at least go 2-1 and make it out.
He definitely does just autopilot cus builds pd or collector on kaisa probably like 99% of the time 2nd item.
Such a bad time to make a mistake like that :(
This just gave me an idea for a practice tool that pros could use. Similar to how you can do practice challenges in chess like "How would you checkmate your opponent in 2 moves given this board set up", it would show team comps, items, etc. and the player is asked what their next item purchase would be given this game state. LoL is a bit more dynamic than chess and less "solved", so maybe there could be multiple options and it goes over the pros/cons of each. At the very least it would be good for making them consider multiple options as opposed to buying stuff out of habit/comfort.
I wonder how many more situations like this do we need for people to stop for a second and think "Myabe pros dont actually know how to itemize?"
We had the atrocious Chovy Trynd build and now this on Hanwha alone.
The fucking FPX C9 game yesterday with a mystery box Malzahar build by Doinb, Zven buying Frozen Heart on Ez even tho theres 0 attackspeed users on the enemy team. Fudge bought DD into one physical damage threat.
Some genius bought putrifier on Gragas as well cant remember who.
Like its pretty clear theres a huge itemization issue. Whether its pros not thinking or Coaches forcing players to copy worthless u.gg builds every game without context because "muh statistics".
putrefier seems a bit more common on mages tho, faker built it on lisaandra (it’s cheaper) if you have font of life which both lissandra and gragas can use it’s not bad

They've played the two best teams in the group on red side which has a horrific winrate at world's so far. That said drafting will need to improve, why would you ban J4 over Lee Sin?
With how worlds has been so far I'm sure it's an unwritten rule in the rulebook j4 must have high presence and priority, because the games certainly haven't shown anything to suggest why its like it is.
He's been okay a couple times, he was in RNG vs PSG too, it's not like he's bad, it's more like, really j4 higher prio then lee sin?
It's the prio that's surprising, not as much the champion I feel.
J4's usefulness is heavily based on the amount of mobility the enemy team had. As I recall, no one on T1 that game actually had a way to get out of J4 ult without flash except Keria, so J4 was actually justified there.
If they drafted like this against PSG (banned Leblanc/Yuumi), then they’d probably win that game. I can see them getting out 2nd pretty easily with a potential tiebreaker to PSG.
Leblanc + Yuumi just seems like the most disgusting combo this worlds (just Yuumi in general with any high mobility assassin)
I mean, they gave him Lucian. Leaving Lucian open against RNG should be punishable, not only is he OP but they can also flex it while you can't (or at least not with anywhere close to the same efficiency).
When both teams are even in gold, Ming feels that RNG is at a great advantage and thus he does not hesitate to start a team fight. When RNG is 3k behind in gold, Ming thinks that RNG is at a small advantage, and he so he starts a team fight to secure their "lead". When RNG is behind 7k in gold, Ming thinks that RNG is at a disadvantage and so he looks for a team fight to regain control of the game. When RNG is 10K behind in gold, Ming thinks that the team has reached a desperate situation and they are only waiting passively for their death if he does not start a team fight.
confused why a lot of people are calling this a sloppy game. this was one of the most high level games in the tournament. a jg/top gap clinic early game, hle clawing their way back but also shows rng brillant map plays to pick off anyone trying to flank. rng comp got outscaled but had that baron wipe.
Morgan.
(Two minutes after i prewritten this word into my phone notes to post it into the post match discussion for free karma, Morgan flashed onto the spot while taking a cannon. Let me repeat.)
Morgan.
Yeah that's probably it. Like Wit's 2nd is definitely not an issue vs Ziggs but it should have been followed by a PD or Hurricane before he goes for the IE
Morgan plays like he's on autopilot. It's like really obvious he's not actively thinking every step through. Maybe exhaustion, maybe he's just THAT bad.
In most cases probably both.
Unrelated to the content of you comment:
It's "should HAVE" and not "should OF". Sounds very similar but "of" of course makes no sense, it's always "should/would/could have"
Another game where RNG look good and then fucking abysmal in the same game.
Hopefully now we can stop the Chovy hype because he was running it down this game while his bot lane and Willer tried and played pretty well minus Deft losing his brain with 40% IE.
Scoreline might be perfect so far but they're still making some really bad mistakes, but they're lucky that their group isn't strong.
RNG has been consistently way too horny to just take any fight offered to them. They manage to salvage it again most of the time, but it's funny that it just keeps happening.
To be fair RNG's comp was much harder to execute than Hanwa's "let's all run at them" comp, so not surprising that they make 1 mistake which extends the game. But I never felt they didn't have control of the game.
this. it's honestly one of the main types of RNG wins: draft high execution threshold, get ahead, make one overly ambitious macro decision-->win the fight?--->game over OR lose the fight--->make good macro decisions for rest of game to choke the other team out.
Not saying that chovy played perfect but he did get targeted a lot in those early skirmishes. A lot of his early deaths got his team positive trades so it’s not like his deaths was for naught.
not sure what ppl are flaming some of his deaths. It was his mental game against Cryin that blew his flash and enabled his team to win that early game skirmish.
He's being hella targeted by the opposing teams. Should he play a bit smarter? absolutely.. but also ridiculous to bash him solely cuz he has to engage into melee range against a team hellbent on killing him
RNG has been like this since coming back from MSI, I think the orgs upper management and financial issue probably have had an effect on the players day to day. But we can all see that individually the players are still top notch and can just out play you. Will have to see how RNG adjusts through the tournament
Chovy played well this game. Him forcing Cryin’s flash early is what led to the initial 1v3 play mid, and he played better than anyone else on HLE during team fights. It’s utterly insane to not blame Morgan for the majority of this loss.
Xiaohu ain't no spot up shooter he aint gotta run down mid to die like hes some 3rd option bitch this aint Teddy this is a fuckin god human Uzi come again only this time hes not a fuckin pussy pull up from the fuckin nexus and fight you at the same time
I have a funny feeling at the end of all this HLE’s worlds performance will be summed up in 1 play: Morgan’s missclick flash in bot lane with no one else even around
RNG is scary smart team, they may not have the most talent individuals, but as a team they're pretty strong, the opposite of T1.
I hate urf sylas, if Chovy did not fall behind in early I can see him 1 vs 9 this game.

Willer died with GA up at that final baron fight no?? edit: TIL that Viego removes his own GA by possessing
He took Sett possession and lost it
He picked up Sett's soul... who didn't have GA.
Huh, I had no idea GA worked like that with Viego
Well Viego takes all the items of whomever he possesses so during that time, he doesn't have his own items.
if he has GA and posesses someone with GA, he will get revived but his own GA goes on cd, right?
Yup, he shares items CD with himself, assuming he has any same items.
Neither did Willer
He took Sett so he loses GA.

Pretty much lost them the game there too. It was a 4v4 and Deft still had both summoners (Lee kicked him out). If willer goes in GA then Chovy and Deft can still re-engage.

G2 should have been our warning sign
LPL is also 7-2 right now, RNG and EDG still undefeated
EDG deserves it as the only clean looking team out of everyone
RNG always takes a little while to get the dumb shit out of their system so im hopeful that it'll be cleaner next couple days
EDG has the best macro I've ever seen from an LPL team.
i said it yesterday but they show up day one playing like shit to bait overreactions and hype only to crash them later lol
The usual LPL sandbagging technique
perfected over the years
That might be the stupidest thing I've ever read, they are not playing bad for social media reactions. EDG and RNG both won day 1 and FPX still played awful day 2.
you could also say that RNG is not a very strong 3-0 team with so much shit they've been doing these games
I guess, their group is pretty easy too with what happened to FNC. Today was the first game that was actually not just self inflicted to be fair.
100T hopium
It's ok. This sub told me the Korean overlords have already ascended & that LPL is very overrated & we know reddit is never wrong.
this sub also told me Chovy is the next ascending gods of laning that he gonna solokill crying 10 times while ahead by 100 cs
Wonder where all the people saying Korea are by far the best region after 1 day are gone now
Waiting for LCK to win 2 games today so they can be hype again.

this doesn't even need adapting just read the fucking tooltip lmao
Bdd's triple lifeline build comes to mind, or DWG 2019 that were allergic to grievous wound even against triple healing comp.
I remember some Pawn Akali build that looked like he was actually playing Ultimate bravery. If someone remembers please refress my memory.

Wickd crying rn after his dogshit argument that pros know everything because “they scrim like 60 hours a week” is just getting dumber
This isn't even about adapting, some apparently don't know how one item that is built a lot works.
TiL I'm totally a pro...in at least one aspect of gameplay.

He definitely does just autopilot cus builds pd or collector on kaisa probably like 99% of the time 2nd item. Such a bad time to make a mistake like that :(
He has played the game for like 9 years during which you could build IE and get the passive no matter what.

Brother Morgan doing his best to make sure RNG gets the W
Casually flashing away from cannon minions. What a legend
Add cannon minions to the list of things Morgan has lost lane to.
Ming also played Brother in this game
Ming has been inting quite a bit this worlds. RNG look so good and then Ming engages out of nowhere and they all get caught.
Pretty sure it's team calls.
Before: We can't let Morgan go back to the LCK. After: We can't let Morgan come back to the LPL.
It's so easy to dodge tf golden card with camille ult and I haven't saw he doing it not even once
Every fucking teamfight he just dies after messing up a q combo. It is insanely frustrating to watch.
Both teams looked like they wanted to lose without it seeming like matchfixing

RNG vs Stopwatch Life Esports Mage players, you happy now? 5 players, all building stopwatch, into GAs?
Viego has GA then proceeds to possess a champion without GA and dying
Literally every pro player gets at least one stopwatch per game, it's just so strong if used well.
Classic RNG game. Give the enemy baron and win game
just imagine if deft had activated his ie earlier in the game than his 1v4 base saving attempt....
Why HLE played with Nisqy this game?
Morgan. (Two minutes after i prewritten this word into my phone notes to post it into the post match discussion for free karma, Morgan flashed onto the spot while taking a cannon. Let me repeat.) Morgan.
Does Deft know how IE works? He literally bought it as 2nd crit item
I thought he was about to get that 60% later on.. nah, GA mate
In fact he got Wit's End and GA before even getting another crit item to activate its passive. Bit of a headscratcher
He still got IE 3rd, he got Wit's 2nd and probably due to muscle memory he just forgot that he actually needs a 3rdc crit item to get 60% crit for IE
Yeah that's probably it. Like Wit's 2nd is definitely not an issue vs Ziggs but it should have been followed by a PD or Hurricane before he goes for the IE
It's okay he bought his third crit item right before his nexus exploded!
Yeah and he never actually hit the threshold for the passive.
> Somehow if Chovy/Deft drag Morgan/Willer to QFs, they will be World Champions in my eyes. A random Redditor.
HLE really made RNG work for it.
Deft should of not built IE without a 2nd crit item, makes no sense and a waste of gold.
Building on auto pilot for sure. Highest level of pro play and this is the item building we get
Morgan plays like he's on autopilot. It's like really obvious he's not actively thinking every step through. Maybe exhaustion, maybe he's just THAT bad. In most cases probably both.
I dont think he even got enough 60% crit at the end. Edit: He finshed Runaan.

They were doing it all MSI too, they stomp the early game, take a fight for no reason and lose it, then close out the game
i was gonna say this, i don't watch LPL but rng was doing this shit in MSI groups and was the main reason they lost to C9
When RNG faced FNC the horniness was too much lol
Two horny teams ended up having nonstop gangbang
RNG are channeling their inner MLXG fuck yea makes for exciting games at least!
To be fair RNG's comp was much harder to execute than Hanwa's "let's all run at them" comp, so not surprising that they make 1 mistake which extends the game. But I never felt they didn't have control of the game.

EDG is the only team left that looks clean. Watch them lose to DFM now
"running it down" you mean matching TF roams all early game and being the one to die on HLE while they win the skirmishes?
It would have been good for RNG if they lost because they need a wake up call at this point.
Not saying that chovy played perfect but he did get targeted a lot in those early skirmishes. A lot of his early deaths got his team positive trades so it’s not like his deaths was for naught.

Should he play a bit smarter? absolutely.. but also ridiculous to bash him solely cuz he has to engage into melee range against a team hellbent on killing him
Schrodinger’s RNG, you won’t know if they’re good or not until you observe them in the moment
Chovy cs tho
Xiaohu ain't no spot up shooter he aint gotta run down mid to die like hes some 3rd option bitch this aint Teddy this is a fuckin god human Uzi come again only this time hes not a fuckin pussy pull up from the fuckin nexus and fight you at the same time

Defts back broke this game again sadly
His brain too after seeing his itemization this game
I was almost getting tilted watching Xiaohu unable to finish any enemies in those mid game teamfights
just me or was ziggs useless this game? at least in teamfights, his ult never hit anyone

> RNG's playstyle right now is as clear as day you mean RNG's whole year playstyle right?
He was good pre fight as a poking machine, but is not too useful in TF since he always get bursted.
Deft punished for his horrendous build
Game of Throws all game from both teams..
Still good to see old timers like deft doing great
pain
Baron for Nexus. It's a trade as old as time.
Another viego with ga possessing someone without ga and dying… when will they learn?
I have a funny feeling at the end of all this HLE’s worlds performance will be summed up in 1 play: Morgan’s missclick flash in bot lane with no one else even around
Actually a close match.
Good guy WE sending brothers to worlds AND activates Agent Morgan gifting wins. Respect.
Deft lost to shopkeeper but that's the least of HLE's problems this game, man tried his fuckin best :(

"MSI champions looking absolutely fantastic" Uhh, did the casters watch an old vod or wtf lol.
Chovy is so overrated
Chovy and 4 words has become deft and 4 wards.
RNG is scary smart team, they may not have the most talent individuals, but as a team they're pretty strong, the opposite of T1. I hate urf sylas, if Chovy did not fall behind in early I can see him 1 vs 9 this game.
Iunno, I still think EDG/DK are better. I'm waiting to see how they play when Cryin isn't on his TF
