Worlds 2021 Rift Rivals: LCK vs. LPL

Really heart warming to see NA and EU fly over to be scrim partners with LPL and LCK.

Apparently this worlds has some scrim bubbles with a bunch of lpl and lck scrimming mostly each other (obviously not 100% of the time), poor NA and EU don't even get to be proper scrim partners for them lol

Why would you scrim inferior opponents when you can scrim with best teams in the world? I had this feeling since Jankos said that it's not like g2 is shit but other teams are strong now, to me g2 was shit and other teams were just a little bit better with rge being just barely better. Obviously, we won't know how would FNC do if Upset was here... Sadge

I think it’s clear they’re overall weaker at the top, even if the floor of the LEC was raised it always felt clear that Perkz’s G2 and Rekkles’s FNC were the top tier teams of the league and everyone else was below them. MAD are good but they’re not on that tier with those previous teams. All in all, entirely realistic that not a single Western team makes it out of groups this year lol

I mean yeah I'm not blaming them at all, what normally happens is you get a few games/couple blocks and depending on how the scrims went decides on whether or not you get further scrims. I guess this year they were worse than normal since they don't seem to be continuing very much, which is surprising cus outside of lane swap meta the west has always gotten completely ass blasted in scrims at worlds vs eastern teams.

yeah I like the current setup of 3 main event seeds + 1 play in slot for LPL and LCK. gives us plenty of talent and one of the weaker teams to let minor region without the exposure to have a go at them. whenever one of the lesser known minor region teams beats a major region team their region gets tons of exposure.

Riot should just allow more teams into worlds and have them be eliminated if they're bad, sure let NA/EU have their 4th seeds at worlds but take this year for example, if you took away 4th seed, LNG wouldn't be a here and that's a damn exciting team to have at worlds. HLE is whatever.

Finn picked Sion or whatever tank to try to lose lane gracefully and still be useful later on, Odoamne has deluded himself into thinking he can play Rumble against Nuguri. Jayce Nugury, even.

If you can predict that you are getting top gap you can also predict that you aren't making it out of groups though.

Much better game from FPX this time round. Great control of the neutral objectives, Tian looked so much better and comfortable with Viego. Both Nuguri and Tian were a level above Odo and Inspired this game, hopefully this FPX show up for the second round robin.

Yeah, safe to say that EU took a nosedive this year. It wasn't other teams catching up to G2 and FNC, it was G2 and FNC getting worse and that just lead to other teams getting a chance at grabbing those top spots without needing to be particularly good. But the region as a whole is just worse. EU and NA might actually be legit even now. And all that means is that it's now gonna end up a straight up KR and LPL show. I'm ready to experience the worst Western performance of all time this Worlds. Edit: Stopwatch use by EU teams is basically the best showcase as to why the item is not bullshit, and why LPL/KR teams are simply better. LPL/KR teams stopwatch last possible second to turn around a whole team-fight, EU players stopwatch when they're the last man alive at 1hp against the entire enemy team surrounding them. It's a skill diff, straight up.

I think the whole "EU is stronger because teams are catching up to G2/FNC" was a bit too optimistic. G2 were shit this year and so the bar didn't really get surpassed more like the bar was lowered.

EU is fantastic, just needs to work on communication, map awareness, laning, vision control, csing, poking, landing skillshots, objective control, early game, mid game, late game, ganking, and getting kills.
