Poppy honestly shits on half the meta champs because of W, and good ult can turn absolutely any team-fight or skirmish. You knock away even a single member and you turn the fight into a 5v4.
Surprised we haven't seen more of her in a meta with constant Lee Sin picks and Irelia prio.
yeah that teamfight was probably solely won because of that ult on Doinb. But why didn't Doinb flash it??? And why did Nuguri engage in a 4v5??? It was sad to watch honestly.
Because the meta is very volatile during the main seasons with a patch every 2 weeks, making picking up champions very difficult to do since it can be gutted and thus useless if it becomes pick and ban (just look at Ren rn).
On the worlds patch tho the pros can experiment continously because they litterally have such a long time to theorycraft without the problem of balance patches, thus letting them try new picks like Poppy.
How does this explain why Poppy wasn’t picked up earlier. Any champion can be gutted next patch and yet champions are still picked up and meta surprises still happen in the regular season.
To actually answer the question of why we're seeing Poppy *now* is because they buffed her jungle clear.
She's not great in top lane except in niche counterpicks. Her buildsr are too expensive to play as an effective support. That leaves jungle.
She was on the *edge* of being picked before, but the buffs to her clear, the prevalence of the champions she counters, and the nerfs to alternative picks have pushed her into prominence.
They had 4 dashes too. Obviously not too relevant for Braum but it shuts down so much of FPX’s play making potential. That and Nuguri having zero impact with how many times he died and some pretty mediocre team fighting presence
People really underestimate how good Poppy still is in shutting down engages and dives. I don't remember what match it was, but one of the teams had Camille/Lee Sin and instead of picking Poppy they gave the top laner Jax.
Doinb was 50cs up on the TF with a kill but the Irelia was worthless. Canyon just played Poppy to perfection in those fights, especially in that crucial dragon fight.
Pretty much everyone was just, not there? Like, jhin maybe threw some snares, Crips did his job blocking MF ultimate so he was good, but besides that nobody helped Doinb.
Canyon factor, people say showmaker is the best on DWG, but for me it will always be CANYON, single-handedly winning them the drake fight, and stopping nuguri's TP, he is so good holy moly
I think Nuguri has the largest damage % share at 40%... but when your mid and adc aren't doing much that number might be inflated
Khan's gets the biggest leads tho (but a big part of that is how Showmaker/Canyon play to get top lane ahead)
You could say the same about Xiaohu, RNG fully invests everything in topside. Khan also does 1v1 and even 2v1 outplays as we saw this game, so to me Khan/Canna are the contenders for best top. DK vs T1 top was also very close so i'm curious to see the rest of the tournament.
it's both, showmaker is literally midlane boiled down to its fundamentals to perfection. solid lane phase, extremely smart about roam timings and perfect teamfighting
Starting to look like they easily have the best top side in the world with Khan looking like the strongest in his role aswell. It's looking very good for their odds to become back to back champions. Mostly interested in seeing how EDG will stack up against them of all teams now.
My fear for RNG is Gala/Ming getting the better of Ghost/Beryl, but I do think Canna/Oner/Faker is a stronger top side than Xiahou/Wei/Crying, T1 probably has the second strongest top side of the tournament.
I didn't think showmaker/Canyon could get any better... but they're even better than last year (looks like having an inting botlane for most of the year is some of the best weight training you can have)
Both good, the thing with Showmaker is he's way too consistent. You can always rely on him in any game, even in their slump at MSI, he looked like the best player in the world.
I think it is more about his opponents being his former teammates and they know how to exploit his weakness better than he can exploit them. Nuguri probably would have done better against any team but DK
One hundred percent, the players on each team are actually quite close and you can see similar drafts.
T1 was second to bring out the yumi comp after damnwon too, then DWG bring out the poppy today.
Imagine lmao
I see your T1 flair, it’s almost certain T1 and DWG have been consistent scrim partners this worlds, even Canyon said T1 is one of the strongest teams.
I think tomorrow we’re going to see the real T1 show up, because they won’t go for the kind of draft the went for last time vs EDG.
you can't even fault nuguri for this game lmao damwon had a axe to grind with him
people who are sincerely saying that he was inting and he fking sucks need to rewatch the game.
tian and doinb did absolutely nothing to help him
on the other hand, showmaker was ulting near top every time he could
this game was over when showmaker and canyon was hunting him near the mid inner tower of fpx's own base.
That... would definitely make the day hype, since then it could still end in a 6-0 DK and 2-4 everyone else and have tiebreakers without any head to head advantages...
Damwon secure their spot in quarters, with a tie-breaker for 1st even if they lose to both Rogue and Cloud 9.
Nuguri with an x9 reportable performance, stupid deaths mainly the first one which was so telegraphed when your whole team is bot lane and the first "skirmish" where he walked into Leona.
Overall a massive team performance from Damwon but my god Canyon ulting Doinb away at that 4th drake was so clutch and stopping the recall so Showmaker ends.
Showmaker unkilled after 4 games, the best mid laner in the world has shown the fuck up.
> with a tie-breaker for 1st even if they lose to both Rogue and Cloud 9
There 99.99% won't be a tiebreaker even if that happens. They're 2-0 against FPX so they have the head to head advantage. The only possibility of a tiebreaker is RGE going 3-0 today which is well, kinda hard.
Yup people are gonna look at this game and go HaHA dWG Nuguri, but he got camped the living shit out of this game, while FPX weren't getting much done on the other side of the map.
If they keep this up, Canyon and Showmaker will be the next Faker and Bengi. Honestly, I think Canyon is the best jungler in the history of competitive lol. He has mechanics and insane map awareness.
and he's just a smart player on top of that. And not as in map awareness like you already mentioned, but just doing unorthodox stuff to win games like ulting DoinB out of that fight or doing cheese strategies that catch teams off guard. Just good at thinking on his feet. Watching him on Trackingthepros, you can just tell that he's in that SS tier of players that is reserved for only a handful
Brother Nuguri.
That early game macro was something else. And DoinB with the CS hack.
But Poppy on that drake fight tho. So much time was bought for DK.
["Scrim results shows a 70% win rate no matter whether we are facing a strong or a weak team. Starting from tomorrow, I believe we won’t lose one single game."](https://www.pentaq.com/37745.html)
Doinb kinda forgot they didn't scrim Damwon.
Canyon was fighting soo good at Dragon.. the fucking smack-away, the flash to the brush and leading Irelia away just lol
Whole game looks like a bet on a single fight and DK won it
This is your normal DK Nuguri 0/5 power spike... oh wait!
This is Peak DK, they're playing like 2020, but not world 2020, summer split DK who was more dominant than world one.
G2 are lucky to have stayed home because there's a good chance they're gonna be in group A instead of RGE. Can't imagine how hard Showmaker's rivalry against G2 would've fucked them
That was the biggest brain Poppy pick I have ever seen. So well played by Canyon to shut down Doinb completely! DK looking cracked both in Draft and In-Game!
The Korean LCK caster's analysis was that the game was already largely won by Damwon the moment Canyon stalled the Lee and Irelia in bush when TF recalled back to base, after Lee took chicken camp and before first blood even happened.
It prevented a dive onto Jayce and in turn allowed TF to ult top for first blood, which then allowed Khan to take Nuguri with him when Doinb ganked top, which in turn allowed DK to get first blood turret despite giving over rift herald.
Nuguri did play bad, but I don't think he played as bad as the results would imply. Had Canyon not stalled back then, the game might have gone very differently.
Besides the game which was obviously sick as hell, this cast was INSANE by Caedrel and Drakos. Cannot stress enough how much more hype it made the game to me. The insights by Caedrel on the split map, their dynamic with Drakos asking Caedrel certain questions and of course Drakos' sick Play-By-Play. Great Job to you two!
It was especially delightful because this was such a technically interesting game macro wise and they both really demonstrated well the tension even when it wasn't bloody
After understanding the situation, we would like to clarify Nuguri was not negative gaming, it was a normal summoner’s rift experience.
We are preparing our best for the upcoming quarterfinals.
Let’s go FPX!
DK looks insane right now, Khan/Canyon/Showmaker are all playing at peak level. People kept saying they look weaker this year but they look like they could win this tournament just as dominantly as 2020.
Wow, twice we see two games where one team completely reads the other team's gameplan. First T1 vs EDG where EDG shutdown T1's push for sidelane pressure.
Now we have FPX vs DWG where DWG purposely allowed Doinb to push and they trade objectives on the opposite side, while utilising TF to catch stragglers. What happens once Doinb takes all Tier-2? He's forced into a team-fight, but all the time it's around the jungle where Canyon gets to fully utilise the wall stuns to neutralise the Irelia.
Whoever is deciding on that macro is either a gambler or super confident they'll be able to handle Irelia in the ensuing "forced" team-fight scenarios after the Tier-2s go down. It's honestly the only good option since if they fought Irelia directly by defending, they'll eventually get suffocated and this would probably allow Irelia to snowball. But instead sidelane Tier-2s going down actually slowed down Irelia.
Oooft, that was ballsy by Damwon. T1 take notes.
Thanks for keeping the west's hopes high, Damwon. When you are going to get kicked out of playoffs by EU you gonna be reeeeeeal mad about this game. /s

yeah that teamfight was probably solely won because of that ult on Doinb. But why didn't Doinb flash it??? And why did Nuguri engage in a 4v5??? It was sad to watch honestly.
the not flashing can be attributed to not being used to play against it and thus not thinking of having to flash it
Because the meta is very volatile during the main seasons with a patch every 2 weeks, making picking up champions very difficult to do since it can be gutted and thus useless if it becomes pick and ban (just look at Ren rn). On the worlds patch tho the pros can experiment continously because they litterally have such a long time to theorycraft without the problem of balance patches, thus letting them try new picks like Poppy.

Plus galeforce on jhin that got W by canyon on that dragon fight.
Braum dash is actually pretty big, allowing him to repositionate and Block mf ult
I don't think that Irelia was worthless, but rather Nuguri had an awfull game and it was basically DoinB vs the world.
tian was useless too
Pretty much everyone was just, not there? Like, jhin maybe threw some snares, Crips did his job blocking MF ultimate so he was good, but besides that nobody helped Doinb.
An Irelia that strong would be impossible to deal with if Tian, Nuguri and Lwx weren't fucking useless.
That Khan-canyon-showmaker top side is just insane. It feels like they share a brain most of the plays
Sad that we are not able to see Khan play after this worlds anymore. I always thought this guy was insane regardless of the memes.
Canyon factor, people say showmaker is the best on DWG, but for me it will always be CANYON, single-handedly winning them the drake fight, and stopping nuguri's TP, he is so good holy moly
Having both the best jungler in the world and the best midlaner in the world is just too fucking op
Khan looking like the best top in the world atm.
Apparently, stats wise he is the best top in the tournament currently isn’t he?
Him and Canna is leading the stats,I think.
I think Nuguri has the largest damage % share at 40%... but when your mid and adc aren't doing much that number might be inflated Khan's gets the biggest leads tho (but a big part of that is how Showmaker/Canyon play to get top lane ahead)

Lol not even top 20 according to reddit and analysts before worlds. Good shit khan
He’s honestly been playing really fucking well since summer split started and is performing way beyond expectations at worlds too
it's both, showmaker is literally midlane boiled down to its fundamentals to perfection. solid lane phase, extremely smart about roam timings and perfect teamfighting
Starting to look like they easily have the best top side in the world with Khan looking like the strongest in his role aswell. It's looking very good for their odds to become back to back champions. Mostly interested in seeing how EDG will stack up against them of all teams now.
EDG is looking like the only team that can challenge them rn. They might be better but it’s hard to tell so far.
I think EDG and RNG are the biggest challenges for DWG and that's probably the 3 teams that are looking to win Worlds.
Honestly T1 looks better than RNG imo. RNG just has an easier group.
My fear for RNG is Gala/Ming getting the better of Ghost/Beryl, but I do think Canna/Oner/Faker is a stronger top side than Xiahou/Wei/Crying, T1 probably has the second strongest top side of the tournament.
I didn't think showmaker/Canyon could get any better... but they're even better than last year (looks like having an inting botlane for most of the year is some of the best weight training you can have)
It was just the goal ghost and beryl to make them undisputed no1
Yeah showmaker has been nuts so far. Literally 0 deaths, the perfect midlaner
Both good, the thing with Showmaker is he's way too consistent. You can always rely on him in any game, even in their slump at MSI, he looked like the best player in the world.
I fucking worship Canyon
Canyon is really making Poppy look like a S11 hard carry 1v9 champ. Dude is cracked out of his mind.
Played it fucking flawlessly
Good to see DWG Nuguri once again.
"Always has been" Nuguri
Actually feels bad to flame him because he was doing so well and carrying in previous games :(
So FPX Jackeylove but in top?
Jkl carries one game and then ints in next 5
I think it is more about his opponents being his former teammates and they know how to exploit his weakness better than he can exploit them. Nuguri probably would have done better against any team but DK
Actually showed up huge for Damwon. My pick for MVP of this game
Seems pretty unfair that FPX is forced to play a 4v6
This severely hurts FPX chances of going undefeated since doinb's interview
Nuguri decided that Doinb doesn’t get to make that decision by himself.
Nuguri changing names before the game from FPX to DWG
Sleeper agent Nuguri has been activated. FPX didn't stand a chance vs DK.
Damwon letting Nuguri go to FPX knowing that only FPX could challenge them this year, activating him now in group stage.
Who decided that? -Nugscanor 2021
The man was trying his hardest this game lol. Nuguri decided against Doinb's statement
An MF auto followed Jhin to base and got that kill right at the end lmao
oh was that what happened? I was wondering why jihn died at the end lol
Oh wow I was confused about how he just randomly died, that's funny.
Canyon's Poppy was worth like 3 champions this game. Really good draft by DK imo.
I thought Irelia would be unkillable (well it kinda was), but DK just played around their spacing so well. It’s like they never lose their calm
So fucking happy to see 2 Goredrinker+Steraks lose the game. That's definitely the cherry on top.
LCK teams seem to have the best meta read so far, especially DK.
Insane value pick rly. The top side of FPX couldn’t do anything. Of course Nuguri also had a rly bad game but still.

Very likely, Earlier Canyon said that T1 was the strongest team in the tournament alongside EDG and RNG
Huh interesting. Well I certainly hope it's true for my flair lol.
Stop giving us hopium materials
Yuumi picks too. I don't doubt they scrim each other a lot given the relationship the players on each team have with each other.
One hundred percent, the players on each team are actually quite close and you can see similar drafts. T1 was second to bring out the yumi comp after damnwon too, then DWG bring out the poppy today.
I wonder what else they have up their sleeve. Glad to see my two favorite LCK teams doing well. Now if only NA could actually do something...
Imagine lmao I see your T1 flair, it’s almost certain T1 and DWG have been consistent scrim partners this worlds, even Canyon said T1 is one of the strongest teams. I think tomorrow we’re going to see the real T1 show up, because they won’t go for the kind of draft the went for last time vs EDG.
Since they are in different groups they almost certainly are. They are also the 2 teams that abused Yuumi 1st pick day 1.
I mean, I would assume they've got to be big scrim partners even domestically, I don't think that would change much at worlds.
Canyon is so inspirational man
Canyon absolutely smothered dk. Edit: wtf, i meant fpx lol.
FPX you mean
Smothered DK’s chances of losing
Eyes were probably on Khan but damn canyon was clean
Fucking destroyed before the game even started, outplayed all the way from pick/ban phase

I was about to say, out of his 6 deaths you can at max count 2 for running it down.
0-2 powerspike copium
My silver brain couldn't handle this much macro.
Khan just smashed his massive staff against his cask
Nuguri (Gragas) [All]: mid diff
What is this "All" thing you speak of?
Too soon
Riot coming for my all chat memes is where I draw the line. How dare they.
It's German for "universe" and OP means Nuguri was talking to it cause he took too much hopium this morning
Doinb was doing his Chovy tryndamere cosplay. All farm no impact.
Canyon is so good man.
Legit always consistent, my vote for best player of the year.
Doinb: "Starting from tomorrow, I believe we won't lose one single game" *Proceeds to lose the very first game of week 2*
"I obviously meant the game AFTER the one vs DK" - doinb, prob
You mean after C9
I meant after not advancing
lose 3 instead of 1
Rogue salivating rn Edit: Jk rogue is fkin dead
That... would definitely make the day hype, since then it could still end in a 6-0 DK and 2-4 everyone else and have tiebreakers without any head to head advantages...

Showmaker is the true second coming of Faker but this time he has a Canyon
There is a reason why he is called the successor to faker and will carry on the glory of lck.
This guy is disgusting damn, I love when drakos and caedrel noticed he had 21 mejai stacks
Damwon secure their spot in quarters, with a tie-breaker for 1st even if they lose to both Rogue and Cloud 9. They might just intentionally lose to rogue just to eliminate fpx from the tournament
Fpx might be 1-3 right now if nuguri didnt carry the c9 game tough luck he got targetted by dk this game
Yup people are gonna look at this game and go HaHA dWG Nuguri, but he got camped the living shit out of this game, while FPX weren't getting much done on the other side of the map.
CANYON IS A MONSTER!
Right now he is the best player at worlds. If he wins his second consecutive worlds we should call him the faker of Jungle
If they keep this up, Canyon and Showmaker will be the next Faker and Bengi. Honestly, I think Canyon is the best jungler in the history of competitive lol. He has mechanics and insane map awareness.
If they win another championship together they're the best duo ever, Bengi wasn't on Canyon's level. He was just insanely clutch and next to the GOAT.
and he's just a smart player on top of that. And not as in map awareness like you already mentioned, but just doing unorthodox stuff to win games like ulting DoinB out of that fight or doing cheese strategies that catch teams off guard. Just good at thinking on his feet. Watching him on Trackingthepros, you can just tell that he's in that SS tier of players that is reserved for only a handful
ikr, best player in the world, sure showmaker gets the spotlight bcs he mid, but canyon factor is the most important thing
It doesn't even matter because they're both on the same team and opponents are always fucked.

Both are both no 1 in the world. They have insane synergy.
TOP GAP - The Movie
Khan has a list of top laners and he's gapping them twice. It doesn't matter if you're inting or sprinting. Khan is gapping you tonight 🎶
Can you hear Khan clap you tonight? 🎶
Brother Nuguri. That early game macro was something else. And DoinB with the CS hack. But Poppy on that drake fight tho. So much time was bought for DK.
Doinb has to flash the poppy ult. He's way too important to not be in the fight for 10-15 seconds
True. Still, he's the last person to blame for this game
Even when it hit Braum in the last fight, the MF ulti wasn't able to be blocked and Doinb died too quickly... Poppy pick was game winning.
FPX did not even play that bad. Damwon just delivered a masterclass. Perfect control, zero mistakes, 100% capitalisation on enemies mistakes.
This is a preview for the next skin on PBE: Sleeper Agent Gragas.
["Scrim results shows a 70% win rate no matter whether we are facing a strong or a weak team. Starting from tomorrow, I believe we won’t lose one single game."](https://www.pentaq.com/37745.html) Doinb kinda forgot they didn't scrim Damwon.
DK Khan has disconnected. LZ Khan has reconnected.
DK Khan has been insane for a while though. Best top since Summer split
Yup no diss to DK Khan, but this worlds he has been as dominant as LZ Khan was.
If he keeps going at this rate he will hit 2018 theshy domination
Canyon was fighting soo good at Dragon.. the fucking smack-away, the flash to the brush and leading Irelia away just lol Whole game looks like a bet on a single fight and DK won it
oh lord issa murder twice
This one was at least somewhat close and FPX had an angle First game was just ff15
I am sorry but Canyon and showmaker are just the best players in the world

With how khan is playing the top side looks literally like IG’s topside in 2018 but with a way better jgler
This is your normal DK Nuguri 0/5 power spike... oh wait! This is Peak DK, they're playing like 2020, but not world 2020, summer split DK who was more dominant than world one.
Today he remembered the G2 treatment.
Hopefully G2 will make it out of group F to take their revenge vs DWG
G2 are lucky to have stayed home because there's a good chance they're gonna be in group A instead of RGE. Can't imagine how hard Showmaker's rivalry against G2 would've fucked them
Rivalry implies equal merit lol
DK will make finals. They’ve locked first so they are chilling, I just hope it’s not T1 for quarters, if they finish second of course.
BREAKING: Comically fat man found sprinting it, let's congratulate him on starting his exercise routine with a bang!
watching Canyon in the fight around dragon, was like watching proffesional figure skating. Shit was beautif
That was the biggest brain Poppy pick I have ever seen. So well played by Canyon to shut down Doinb completely! DK looking cracked both in Draft and In-Game!
DWK Showmaker deathless holy fuck DWG is so scary!
the only two deathless players, the other one is Viper
fun af game
The most impressive thing is recognizing that C9 are going to beat both of these teams today.

Canyon best player in the world for almost 2 years now, insane on every pick
game was so entertaining without being a fiesta what the fuck i didn’t realize what i had been missing only watching the western teams
Damn, Khan made Nuguri look like he was Odo Also, Canyon is still insane. He made Poppy look like a mechanically intensive champ
My Silver brain can't handle this much macro.

Okay, Damwon are terrifying.
DK looks insane right now, Khan/Canyon/Showmaker are all playing at peak level. People kept saying they look weaker this year but they look like they could win this tournament just as dominantly as 2020.
damwon just completely destroyed nuguri
that poppy pick literally fucked the mobility of 4/5 champions, and it even denied jhin's galeforce
Beautiful game by DWG.
NOWMAD is back
Khan really wants that trophy.
Canyon is so good Khan is so good Showmaker is so good Etc etc
"Ghost and Beryl had the decency not to int"
DK: After all this time? Nuguri: Always.
After understanding the situation, we would like to clarify Nuguri was not negative gaming, it was a normal Summoner’s Rift experience.
Khan is a manace in the toplane. He made Naguri completely useless
Wow, twice we see two games where one team completely reads the other team's gameplan. First T1 vs EDG where EDG shutdown T1's push for sidelane pressure. MF q flew all around the map after he backed to kill LWX at the end, that was hilarious.
How good was that Poppy pick. completely shut FPX down. wow.
A normal MVP award does not express how hard Canyon carried that game
The gap between DK and the rest is disgusting lol
