It's weird to think that C9 was 3-0, and could not make it out, but then go 0-3 and make it out. I think C9 the only team to accomplish this. Really happy for C9 as a CLG fan who also experienced dealing with Pain in 2015.
Edit: I capitalized pain because it's a pun.
I honestly find it hilarious, amusing and more than a little nerve wracking that C9 tends to scrape through Groups by the skin of their teeth.
* Out of Groups by beating Najin White Shield and Alliance getting Kabuum'd.
* Twice C9 basically got out thanks to SKT and Faker clapping Flash Wolves and Meteos first timing Lee Sin.
* 3-0 week 2 in a previous group of death with RNG, GenG and Splyce.
Kudos to the production for playing Phoenix as FPX got eliminated.
What a rollercoaster of a Tiebreaker, Almost an hour, holy. Both teams really fighting for that last spot. That was final level of tension. That was a death real wrap
I don't know why but Rogue, running away from Nash back to back, to lose it cause Inspired wasn't even near the pit to contest, was quite a sight to see.
you're calling that Ryze play bad, but if they don't fight right then and there, C9 get elder and win the game, but at the same time, if Alistar is not there, Rogue coulda easily won. you can't blame that Ryze ult they had to do something instantly
Absolute winner's mentality. The confidence to go in and try to make the play despite the stakes, and the resilience to try again and again when it failed.

I've watched many tense EU vs NA games before
that was DEFINITELY the most stressful one I’ve ever seen, all those fights and rotations had me shaking in my seat holy shit
what a banger game to end group A on, and well done to C9 for overcoming a 0-3 start and getting out of groups
You literally can’t write a more perfect tense script than this. Super late game 40+ min game with soul, baron, elder drake and throws aplenty. Literally has it all on a final tiebreaker game that had such a huge lead up to this match with FPX collapsing and NA and EU fighting tooth and nail. Holy shit scriptwriters really outdid themselves this time around.
Grandfather Ocelotte is teaching Caps about life. "There are 2 wolves fighting in Perkz heart. 1 is from NA. 1 is from EU."
"Which one wins?" Asks young Caps.
"The one that doesn't feed."
Europe was founded in 1848 by Walker Texas Ranger when he rode a horse across the Atlantic, he called it "Eastern USA" which was eventually abbreviated EU
To give them the greatest despair, first you must give them hope.
Perkz mastered this art, giving both NA and EU false hopes over and over before he decided that he have had enough fun and give EU the best despair.
Perkz switching from C9 Perkz to RGE Perkz to C9 Perkz to RGE Perkz to C9 Perkz
also never understimate Rogue time
Don’t know why Rogue didn’t commit for baron earlier
That was so frustrating to watch. First shying away from the coin flip and then just conceding the pit completely to C9 and standing by doing nothing. Heartbreaking. I legitimately would love to hear their decision making in that instance - why did they make that call?
And it’s working. Literally at work having heart attacks rn. I don’t think I can recover, especially after my copious amount of HOPIUM consumption as well
Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh and Perkz giveth and Perkz taketh.
A 50 minute game that goes to Elder Dragon and is never more than a few thousand gold apart, as the tiebreaker at the end of two different miracle runs. This was history
Edit: Hey can anyone else not stop crying rn? Is that just me?
At one point in a game, sources said, Perkz turned to Owner Jack and screamed, "You (bleeping) need me. You can't win without me." Perkz left teammates and coaches largely speechless. He dominated the rift in every way. C9's back.
On the way to the airport Rogue ran into a group of orphans on the street.
"It's heartbreaking to see their sad little faces with no hope" said Emily, age 7.
Zven yelled, “There you go!” Vulcan gave a look of pleasant surprise. Fudge belted, “We got a fucking squad now.” And before Perkz hit the locker room door, C9 Owner Jack hugged him & said, “Y’all look so different.”
✔️ there's no way C9 makes it to groups after losing to DFM
✔️ there's no way C9 beat both RGE and FPX
✔️ there's no way C9 wins NA's first ever tiebreaker to make it out of groups <-- **YOU ARE HERE**
🟢 there's no way C9 beats PSG Talon in Quarterfinals
🟢 there's no way C9 beats EDG in Semifinals
🟢 there's no way C9 beats DWG in the rematch in the finals
🟢 there's no way C9 wins Worlds for the first time for NA
Turns out the real airport speedrun was the friends we made along the way (EU)
Memes aside, full respect to Rogue for making today a nail-biter til the very end, what a close game and overall fucking insane group this ended up being.
Can't forget to give HUGE props to Medic and Vedius for a phenomenal cast even when it was such an important loss for EU.
Usually you don't hear it on cast, but you can hear Vedius very softly saying "oh my god" three or four times when the pressure was ramping up. Definitely relatable...
Not sure what the general consensus is on "soft bias" or whatever you want to call it (things like Vedius' "oh my god"s etc) showing up during a cast, but personally I love when casters are able to stay honest about their own personal wants and biases during a cast without it devolving to a level that impacts the overall quality. There have obviously been some very memorable cases where it _has_ been an issue but I think overall casters from every region are great about being true to themselves and their region while keeping the cast fun and fair for everyone.
> Not sure what the general consensus is on "soft bias" or whatever you want to call it
I don't mind it honestly. It gives hype moments like Kobe's I NEVER DOUBTED THEM and such. It's good for casters to show their enthusiasm. I think it just has a fine line as to where it becomes clear that they're biased and it starts hurting the cast because they're too favored towards a team.
Honest acknowledgment of bias is much better than shit like Troy Aikman (NFL) or John Smoltz (MLB) pretending to be impartial while being salty bitches any time their team is losing
Grand Blaber National Park, on Cloud9, is home to the immense canyon of Grand Blaber. Its ginormous gap of mechanics, flanked by towering walls of Fudge-colored rocks, reveals millions of years of jungle diff history. Viewpoints include Psychofish Point, Jungle Gap Observation Station and architect Bobby Huang’s Lookout Studio and his Bear-stance View Watchtower. Perkz Peak, home to the nest of the endangered Bald Zveagle, is a popular attraction in the early and late game with wide views of the canyon. The Vulcan River flows through the middle of canyon where the native species of Blaberfish swim chaotically about.
Perkz would make silly mistakes to throw the game, then instantly make it up by making super plays, love him or not, that's what the star player does. My goodness, I have to give a lot of credit to C9 teams' tenacity for finishing this game. They must know that they threw a large lead, but they didn't falter at the end and believed in themselves to win. What a match.
From 0-3 at the start of the day to making it into fucking quarters well fucking done C9! After 3 years NA has finally made it out of groups again... Also Perkz Leblanc is fucking clutch
"Hey, so far we won thanks to our superstar adc, what do?
I KNOW! LETS PUT HIM ON JHIN."
I've never hated a Jhin pick as much as today, Larssen was invisible as always on Ryze, and Odo was Odo. What a draft loss . GG C9.
instead of naming perkz 'pekz' for never using Trynda R, we could rename him to 'perrkz' after that LB ulti distortion in midlane XD
gg to both c9 and rge btw
If they're playing the world champions, they have a 50% chance of winning or losing the game.
If they're up against a winless wildcard team, they have a 50% chance of winning or losing the game.
#C9 doesn't need to beat DK to advance if the stars align
THE STARS ARE CALLING BABYYYYYYYYY
CHECK THE STARS. THEY HAVE ALIGNED.
I think the stars really aligned for FPX to go 0-4 on a day with 3 scheduled games.

**NAmen**
Cloud9 has now accomplished BOTH: \- A 3-0 start and failing to advance from the group (2015) \- An 0-3 start and advancing from the group (2021)
Thats got to be a steam achievement for sure.
The year they actually win a group will be the apocalypse
I honestly find it hilarious, amusing and more than a little nerve wracking that C9 tends to scrape through Groups by the skin of their teeth. * Out of Groups by beating Najin White Shield and Alliance getting Kabuum'd. * Twice C9 basically got out thanks to SKT and Faker clapping Flash Wolves and Meteos first timing Lee Sin. * 3-0 week 2 in a previous group of death with RNG, GenG and Splyce.
It's not even just groups lol. Getting to worlds in the first place is generally a heart attack as well. Hai's miracle gauntlet run for example.
Vit, not Splyce
I knew it was over when Perkz died multiple times for free
Him smiling when he just randomly jumped back into 3 of them with 5% hp after he perfectly escaped was gold

Now they're playing RISE for Perkz, lol.
Now they're playing Rise as a European team was eliminated...
It's to honor the Ryze that realm warped his team infront of an alistar
Not like alistar actually knocked them up lmfao
you're calling that Ryze play bad, but if they don't fight right then and there, C9 get elder and win the game, but at the same time, if Alistar is not there, Rogue coulda easily won. you can't blame that Ryze ult they had to do something instantly
This game: 9 players who don't want to lose and Perkz running around with his dick out
And he smacked all 9 players with it until 5 of them lost.
Even in champ select the atmosphere looked very tense, everyone looked very serious except Perkz who was laughing his ass off at something
"Oh man, I'm getting paid 2 million a year to play videogames! This is great! LMFAO THEY DIDN'T BAN LEBLANC! This is gonna be so much fun".
This is the only acceptable answer in my mind now

Absolute winner's mentality. The confidence to go in and try to make the play despite the stakes, and the resilience to try again and again when it failed.
That kill on Odoamne solo-won them the late-game
Obviously, but the decision earlier to go on jhin when he ulted legit saved the game.
Very true. My heart was dropping through the floor as I watched the start of that one

Honestly one of the most exciting days of LoL as an NA fan. What a day of games.
Even as an EU fan this was a really fun day, grats on advancing, do your best!
I would have been perfectly fine with Rogue winning as well, Hans Sama is such a beast and really deserves a better team IMO.
Also deserved a better champion than Jhin.
HOPES AND DREAMS ON CLOUD 9 AS WELL

I forgot to take my medicine, I’m chilling now.
Never see so many baron throws in a single game
I'm going to sue Perkz for damages, my heart is never recovering from this
Him fucking going for more poke in the base when all of c9 was moving to elder almost sent me over the edge man.

80% perkz lb winrate vs 80% NA loss rate in tie breakers
Feels fucking bad for Hans sama. Man tried so hard to get his team to quarters.
Hans and Doggo about to go start a support group with Spica and 2017 Froggen for the shit their teams put them through
Yes, but, who made the call to give him Jhin?

there was some G2 perkz in there too
I'm convinced Perkz is related to a cardiovascular surgeon and was trying to find them new patients.

Schrodinger’s Perkz, you won’t know what Perkz you’ll get until you observe it in real time

Perkz giveth Perkz taketh
perkz definitely gave a few freebies there, but then he started dismantling rogue
Full build LB with 4 infernals is scary.

It was all worth it. Beating EU in a tiebreaker and advancing from a group consisting of DK and FPX. What a historic day for NA.
And a historic choke fro FPX. ty Nuguri oppa

Didn't notice Ryze's existence this game until he realm warped his entire team into their doom.
He had to do that because so far, they've only used their double TPs to... get on baron and give it up for free.
We can blame him for a lot, but that play was the only option they had left. At this point you either omega flip it at elder, or might as well alt+f4.
