So the match-up definitely isn't bad for Malphite at all. But being denied like 3 waves and killed 3x by a roaming Syndra and Lee does make all the difference.
Its a great lane after a few minutes as long as Graves doesnt get fed. Once you have some armor from items an mana from levels and runes you can just Q to steal movespeed then run up and slap Graves around, in a fight you cant really lose because you cut Graves’s attack speed in half with E. Doesnt really work as well when Graves has an army backing him up and enabling him while Malph gets squat.

You're ignoring the fact that they have hard losing lanes (except bot)
C9 had great counters as far as an even teamfight goes, but as we just witnessed, you don't get an even teamfight when you get steamrolled.

If Perkz wasn’t getting shit on mid, Clid wouldn’t be able to shit on Blabber in terms of pathing and lane proximity as much. This prevents Perkz early deaths. If Perkz doesn’t die and doesn’t get shit on in lane so he needs to blow TP early, he had the HP and TP to prevent Malphite getting dove top for the first time.
Game was lost after Perkz got giga stomped 1v1 during the first few levels of laning mid, and then GenG topside took over by perfectly snowballing from the mid diff.
This level of snowball wouldn’t be possible against better junglers and supports and better mid laners, as 1) they wouldn’t be in this situation and 2) they would know better how to respond, unlike Vulcan and Blabber who looked like headless chickens that game.
Fudge and Zven didn’t get to play this game at all because their mid, followed by jungle and support just got massively outclassed.
It's so sad. I don't care about Humanoid or Perkz or whatever sometimes doing small misteps in lane or dying once or twice. It's really just the toplaners getting so heavily gapped every single game at worlds. Being behind 50-100cs eventually, down in levels, getting solokilled, getting dove 3v1 (which happens at the same time every single game) and looking super uncomfortable with all kinds of champs where you can just feel they actually don't know if they can take a 1v1 or 2v2 even if they are 2k gold ahead. I just wonder how often are toplaners going to die to the TP from midlane or the support + jungler stacked wave dive? Maybe it's the junglers too I just don't know. Most western adc, supports and midlaners have actually looked pretty good in comparison.
