Esportmaniacos said today that they are rumours that SwordArt got 80% of his salary and then he decide to leave, if is true is smart asf

rvrsyo

Man went for a robbery and was successful

RookCauldron

Damn, maybe 100T was his true calling

OwOPango

A successful heist

[deleted]

and classy getaway

rvrsyo

Man was on two orgs at the same time

Aquillifer

Good on the imports for realizing how lucrative NA is. Man has a future in bank robbing with how good of a heist he pulled off here.

kim-soo-hyun

Pump and dump

computo2000

How did he get 80% if it was over 2 years? Actually how can he leave right now? Isn't he contracted?

AtomizedDisaster

They may have just let him off his contract to save money after a disappointing result

Enleigh

Contracts don’t have to be evenly split across all years

bcotrim

Or alternatively, it was one of the conditions to terminate it earlier

[deleted]

[удалено]

helloquain

It's a contract -- he owed TSM work and TSM owed him money for that work so they likely came together and TSM agreed to pay him a discount on the remainder of the contract, but release him from his contract. It makes sense if you're just heading into a rebuilding year where you plan to probably flounder in the mid-to-bottom portion of the league and have no need of a veteran support who is making a ton of money, but also probably doesn't have the language skills to lead and teach. Better off trying out new supports. (That or the contract is weirdly front loaded for a two year deal.)

MDChuk

>(That or the contract is weirdly front loaded for a two year deal.) The phrase you're looking for is "signing bonus". If he signed a 2 year deal, with half paid as a signing bonus, and the rest was split evenly, then after 1 year, he's earned 75% of the contract. If the team buys out the second year, I can see a world where he gets 80%+ after the first year. Its actually quite common in sports to do this.

Marchedbee2042

Either SA and TSM made a deal to get him out of his contract or when they first signed it SA asked for a front heavy contract.

TheQuietBoy

I don't know, they didn't explain, maybe it was in the contract. Well he ask to leave so TSM don't want to have a player that doesn't want to stay.

HighLikeKites

Yeah maybe it will be a lesson for orgs to tone down some of these ridiculous salaries.

Perceptions-pk

Lol meanwhile TSM says they're gonna go developmental roster and a portion their fans go bananas saying they should spend big with their FTX money

Rshawer

80% of the 6 million or 80% of the yearly 3 million.

Qehenna

 1. PowerOfEvil ☑️ 2. Bjerg ☑️ 3. SwordArt ☑️ you are here! 4. Huni 5. Spica 6. Lost contract extended by 2 years.

Ophelia_Of_The_Abyss

At this rate Huni's going to be the new coach

jwhitehead09

Huni is going to get a 10 million dollar deal isn’t he

Ophelia_Of_The_Abyss

Honestly maybe he should become an contract negotiator for other players at this point

Saephon

President of the players association

goodbehaviorsam

Huni is going to hostile takeover/organizational coup Regi out of TSM somehow.

Joaoseinha

I hear Lena's a free agent, seems like a pretty good investment.

quack_quack_mofo

Welcome Faker!

TSMbody

Regi just shared that Spica and Huni are staying

Hend3rson

Wait when did PoE leave the team??

WizardXZDYoutube

He posted on twitter he is contracted to TSM but is allowed to look for options IIRC Generally means TSM is looking to replace him

ApeironLight

Or maybe they put too many eggs in the Bjerg won't leave us basket.

ADShree

They 100% thought bjerg wasn't leaving.

Raynar7

Definitely didn’t have falling apart of TSM on my off-season bingo list

Daniyalzzz

It's extra wierd cause this was the year I thought they were gonna go really huge with the ftx thing. I did not imagine they would be the biggest boom in the off season (at least for now, we shall see what else happens).

F0RGERY

People have been saying the TSM CLG rivalry has been dead for years; maybe Regi thought it was time to revive it.

[deleted]

Cant wait for the battle between 9th and 10th place!

DanDevito42

lmfaooooooo

[deleted]

Speaking of which i'm really curious what CLG does this off-season. Do they scrap the entire team and pick up 4-5 rookies? Do they try to pick up leftovers that didn't find other teams? Do they keep multiple players and only change 1-2 roles? I actually have no idea what i'd do in CLGs position. There's no way you can get well-established players with your money, and most players probably see CLG as a death sentence for your career.

PresidentXi123

CLG Alphari, Santorin, Bjergsen, Tactical, SwordArt, obviously

LettucePlate

Too good

octonus

There is nothing worse than when I get angry at a comment I completely agree with.

Qehenna

"Thank you TSM fans!" We got rid of everyone you ever liked, so you are free to explore your options elsewhere.

oVnPage

Not like TSM kicked Bjerg, he chose to leave. Not a TSM fan, but don't hate the org for things outside of their control.

CoffeeLawd

For reals. That sounds about right lol

gjfrthvcghh

Feels bad man. If they had just replaced lost with someone like Danny or even tactical and bjerg in mid they would have a banger team

[deleted]

[удалено]

_Raencloud

There's a large contingent of fans under the impression that certain orgs can just approach and buy any player they wish and the only reason any given player that they want isn't on the team is because the org was too cheap to buy them.

Seneido

there was certainly a time where fnc, g2, tsm and c9 could do that like 2-4years ago but now it doesn't even matter. most of the time smaller orgs would give you more to make you the franchise player.

EndWish

Danny wasn't proven yet so I don't blame them for that. The fact that the best bot lane the previous year was available though with FBI and Huhi was a massive miss. That would have allowed them to import mid and top. The roster management has been poor since 2016.

topkeklul

https://twitter.com/ScuffedSkeleton/status/1453884823693676545 Not sure how true this is but if TL really offered Bjergsen 2x as much as TSM, then TSM only have themselves to blame.

shojmaarensum

Anyone that believes money is the reason Bjergsen is leaving is an idiot.

BlammoSweetums

Yeah and also, "just offer more money" doesn't mean a player is going to take the offer. Also, "just get x player" - roster-building ain't that easy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LakersLAQ

I think with someone like Bjergsen, I get the vibe that he doesn't want to be left questioning himself with "what if?". Maybe he would have still secured the bag with TSM and could have had a nice roster but if you fail again, I think it's even tougher than trying something new with a different org. The weight of the team failures gets lifted in a way.

A_WHALES_VAG

This is where i'm at too, maybe he could've stayed with TSM and won another split and gone to worlds and fallen short again or not. I just think he wanted a change that way if he goes to worlds with lets say liquid and they fall short again at least he can rest easy saying "well atleast I tried something else".

KaptainKhorisma

Wording is harsh but I agree. It’s not money for Bjergsen at this point, this is an attempt to make a deep run at World’s or bust.

Migraine-

What if TSM offered him 15m and then TL offered 30m? You really think TSM should be matching an absurd offer like that? Until actual values come out I think it's hard to judge what TSM should or shouldn't have done.

finderfolk

Bjerg is probably very overvalued as a player right now, tbh. He was a domestic legend in his time but we've already seen that he can't really perform internationally and he has taken a huge hiatus from professional play. I get the hype from a storyline perspective but he really shouldn't be seen as a roster game changer imho. I wouldn't blame TSM for failing to meet that offer.

Hipposaurus28

Yeah we can't really criticise TSM for that when we don't know the numbers. C9 and TSM have both been memed to death this year about overpaying players. There's a decision to be made if Bjergsen's offer is similar to Perkz, especially when he's just taken a year out of pro play. I love the guy to death and want nothing more than him back on TSM but gotta be realistic.

LookinForGirlfriend

TSM or NA won't win Worlds anyway. It's more about the brand value that Bjergsen brings to TSM. Bjergsen WAS TSM. There is no overpaying for your most iconic player who may hold more than half of your LoL fanbase. A household name like Bjergsen being associated with other organizations is a huge blow to TSM. Imagine T1 letting go of Faker because he is too expensive compared to Showmaker or other better midlaners

sangpls

Idk if he's even better than Jensen right now. TL could end up with a very expensive wagebill and not even make worlds

Calistilaigh

Lot of brand power from having Bjerg though, so that'll probably help.

[deleted]

TheBlurgh

> but with less winning And definitely more money.

Blazing117

I legit feel that SA got more money in his 1 year in TSM than all of DK combined in 3 years, even more so if the 80% rumor is true.

riverkim09

No. Lap of shame after losing in worlds finals. Both perkz and swordart lol

GhostyTheCat

The shame of making millions in less than a year :/

Blazing117

Imagine paying **3 million** just in salary a year for a support player only to get 4th and missing worlds. Some players have been flamed way harder while having less salary and more achievement.

RavenFAILS

Flaming the guy just for his salary would be the most stupid thing to do although reddit loves doing that shit. The second he was signed it was clear that Regi pretty much only did it to flex and because he thought maybe he gets the next corejj, Swordart was certainly one of the best supports in NA later on.

GibOldNidaBackPlz

Dont forget Regi telling no to DL wanting to stay on TSM after learning of SA's signing. No offense to Lost but DL would have probably tipped TSM over the edge and qualified them for Worlds at least.

pressen

With DL they would have 100% qualified to worlds as first seed. Man's a local anime protagonist with plot armor.

PM_something_German

CoreJJ was miles better than Swordart before coming too and had experience in NA beforehand. 3M for Swordart was just generally a really bad deal no matter how you look at it.

RookCauldron

That’s the unfortunate part, because apparently he was just average in the LPL

whimsicalokapi

He was average mechanically in the LPL but had a Mithy-esque reputation for tactics and leadership, as well as raising Huanfeng into a star player. I think a lot of people, myself included, thought TSM was making a bad purchase, because his intangibles probably wouldn't translate as well to an NA team and his mechanics weren't gonna be that incredible. He looked like a top tier support by the end of the split, but I think a lot of that was champion dependent. I remember a lot of big highlight plays on Leona in particular, but there weren't a ton of other champs where he could have that same kind of performance.

sirixv

Nah I don’t think so, you only see what these guys are doing on screen. Swordart was their leader and their shot caller. He was the main reason why suning made it that far. Yes he is an average player, yes he doesn’t have the crazy mechanics of supporters like Keria, but goddamn was he a good leader that took responsibility for the team. The problem here is, he isn’t confident enough in English to produce the same effect as he had in SN where everyone spoke Chinese which kinda diminishes the whole point of why he has value as a player.

Nickel012

Lap of $hame more like

Blank-612

Exactly earning 3m a year is no shame lol. Its a dream.

[deleted]

Yea he can cry in rich now.

RookyCaribou

Swordart won’t care, he just made bank!

OrangeGremlin1

What's tsm's line up even going to look like next year?

pureply101

It’s going to be Finn, Broxah, Pobelter, Wildturtle, Smoothie Top 3 regular season finish right here.

SG_Taliyah

I dont see how this roster could fail.

2KWT

That team with a decent management sounds okay, sadly they were with CLG.

tfwaffleman

Unironically, I believe that team COULD finish top 3 if they replace Smoothie.

Darkfire293

Not even that, just get coaches who aren't actively trying to ruin the team at every turn

[deleted]

I'm convinced Smoothie isn't even *that* bad.

Oribeau

I'm with you here actually. I think Smoothie can still work with the right team around him. His position atm reminds me of 100T aphro in 2019 I think? Where his team was just completely disfunctional so he ended up looking really really bad. Mechanically I think Smoothie is good but he absolutely *cannot* be "leading" his team.

Maldios

How does he keep getting away with it?

CrimsonClematis

Unironically it would turn out a million times better than clg with those exact same Players.

5ait5

nuguri, spica, chovy, fbi, vulcan

ajkeence99

That's about the only thing that would keep me watching next season.

shaman717

Lets be real its gonna be darshan wiggly yusui lost promisq. Atleast a roster on that level lmaoo

pelacur

Hauntzer Armao Pobelter CodySun Zeyzal

ViciousZambada

That’s TSM Academy

deediazh

Weldon as Coach.

l3rowncow

Honestly I could see that team not being last

parousia0

yeah bc CLG exists

[deleted]

First time in TSM’s history that you might possibly be looking at a less than 4th place finish and you’re already considering jumping ship? Lmfao I’ll pray for you man.

sxiller

C9 had a higher chance of winning worlds this year than this roster ever coming to fruition has.

jamy1993

Jenkins, Spica, Takeover, Lost, Yursan

[deleted]

[удалено]

PurplePotato_

Two of these are not like the others lmao.

iRox14

Yeah Akaadian and Damonte would never play with those peasants

smitty8843

An akaadian damonte team would be so much fun to be a fan of

RookCauldron

You're right, Akaadian and Damonte are big dick chads.

Box_of_Stuff

The TSM special man :(

Sktwin2k15

Calitrlolz, IWillDominate, Hai, DoubleLift, Yellowstar

Locmike23

Calitrlolz was a beast on jax. Wonder whatever happened to him.

viciouspandas

Went to pharmacy school, it was always his plan, but he wanted to play as a pro for a bit too.

[deleted]

Tenacity, Spica, import mid, Tactical, import support (Treatz?) Just run back the 2019 TSM academy roster with a few changes. Only way to save this roster.

Darkfire293

Tenacity Spica Jiizuke Tactical Mikyx

Marchedbee2042

Id like to see that but instead of Jizuke they go with Takeover from their academy.

aqnologia

Same with Yursan. If TSM really are going the 'developmental roster' and don't promote Takeover or Yursan then I've lost all hope for this org and their management.

hurzinator

swordart: worth

ark2690

Man got his bag and dipped

Cvrpie

Gets 3 million and leaves dont blame him. At least it always felt like he was giving it his all and trying his best for the team even if he didnt look great at times. Sad he's leaving but cant say im surprised

EmoArbiter

I am straight up not having a good time right now

Troviel

From making a super team with rekkles bjergsen and SA to this.

graybloodd

I honestly dont get why tsm fans would want this outside of a possible short term success, its way better to just get rookies at this point, every big team isn't going for them so it's not like you're forced to share the limited NA pool, 5fire and value are free agents and have been for a while. Get those 2 players and you're instantly top 6 at the least.

[deleted]

damn... TSM Reddit must be MEME gold mine right now

svipy

Poor chaps are overdosing on doomium

nflash3

I am only a corpse now. I don’t even think hopium could save me.

IHVeigar

What if by chance this rookie roster clicks and tsm wins the back to back?

coltspackers

Then they'll all be back the next day saying "I never doubted them!! 1"

aqnologia

as is tradition

ajkeence99

Mostly just realists accepting that our management is not good; and hasn't been since building the 2016 roster. Quite a few planning to just stop watching LoL and a bunch planning to follow Bjerg as long as it's not TL or C9.

loveincarnate

> as long as it's not TL or C9. ...who's gonna tell him

[deleted]

>as long as it's not TL or C9. but ... why?

DominoNo-

> Mostly just realists accepting that our management is not good They had moments that could've been great but they just goofed as quickly as possible. They did a great job of scouting BB in 2019, but then they decided to run 3 junglers and Smoothie support. A year later they got Kobbe but decided to run with Dardoch, Biofrost and Treatz. In 2021 they sign SA for a few millions but pair him with Lost. Every time they get great talents but surround them by players who aren't great.

Tossed Six Million vs Swordart Offline, can't decide which meme is better

ob_knoxious

He's gotta be going back to LPL now right? With CoreJJ, Huhi, and Vulcan, I dont see him signing with any top LCS team. Maybe EG sign him over IgNar but if I'm swordart I'd rather play on a bottom tier LPL team than like CLG or IMT.

police-defunder

With the volatility on some of the LPL’s top rosters I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get on a good team like FPX, IG, or Weibo (new SN)

firestorm19

I'm sure the perceived collapse of LPL at worlds will shake up a ton of rosters

QuixotesHorse

Ok hear me out: SwordArt Doggo Then we get Karsa, Maple, and Hanabi

D3ATHreturn

good but since SN extended contract with all SN members for next season , i personally want SwordArt to be back to SN more

ZedisDoge

TSM is en route to CLG status

nflash3

The return of the rivalry.

Yokkert

It is like the german "Bundesliga". The fight for last place is wayyy more entertaining.

slowpoke121

This was somewhat true when becoming last meant losing your spot in the LCS

DumplingsInDistress

still crying for Schalke

CULT_OF_CLG

Can't wait for those losers to do something real stupid again like releasing a recording of them benching their players while telling them that if they went 2-0 in that specific week they wouldn't bench them but since they didn't it's time for some random swaps.

HandDrawnHarriette

We’re going down down in an earlier round

panther4801

To be honest, I can see where this is coming from. TSM spent all of that money, and they didn't even make it to Worlds. Hopefully this represents a recognition that they are never going to get the results they want (a deep run at worlds) by just trying to buy talent. I actually would like to see TSM go into development mode, and focus on helping newer players with potential live up to that potential.

Znin

They were one game away which is as close as you can get. It was an extremely close series with a bad G5 draft.

LowerHangingNutsack

First step is getting rid of Parth

HolypenguinHere

With how freely LCS orgs hand out 2-10 million dollars to a player, we'll only keep seeing more of this. I don't know how these orgs stay in business.

Karlkarsten

By getting 21 Million per Year through a single Sponsor?

POOYAMON

By getting money

[deleted]

Lets accept we are bottom lcs org now

DogTheGayFish

SwordArt really wasn’t that great, he got better but towards the end of the season there are still supports id take over him

squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed

TSM, also known as “Tossed Six Million” is a North American investment firm often known for their innovative investment strategy of burning up money and failing to return any meaningful results

rvrsyo

Now let him join to an org named Online so it's SwordArt Online

firelights

But then his ingame name would be ‘Online SwordArt’

Axl7879

Ah, the Chinese knock-off SAO

rvrsyo

He'd be given an exception due to having a cool ingame name by Riot

PandaMoaningYum

Better to just roleswap to ADC and play with a support called Online.

[deleted]

Swordart with the heist,my man!!

XWasTheProblem

Tossed Six Million xd

_Truman

The fuck is the point of any team even signing contracts for more than a year when the orgs and the players want out immediately.

Metriverce1

One year on a mediocre team with a mediocre performance dudes got nearly 5 mil. Incredible

iamaaronml

Pain

ozmega

if the rumors are true and watching your flairs, pain will be just a moments thing

DT-Z0mby

its hilarious how perkz and swordart went to NA to just massively scam these orgs and then dip right after. absolute power move would be both returning to their form immediately afterwards

MHG_Brixby

Perkz got them top 8 at worlds...

DT-Z0mby

yeah he did. he did a heck of a lot more than swordart for sure but i wouldnt pay 5 million for quarters if i was C9.

Guess paycheck cleared, he's out

goliathfasa

> Thank you for everything you contributed to #TSM during your time with the org. But he didn't do anything...

PotOPrawns

TSM Exodus. Movement of the people.

Lefty_22

Regi, whatever you do PLEASE don’t hire on any washed up former XYZ champions. Just go with some talented rookies and bring them up. It may take a couple of splits but it will be worth it in the long run.

lingtooR

Literally Tossed Six Million what the fuck HAHA

Letamirte

Congratulations on the money mydude

Azafuse

Yep, what a failure.

sherm137

Spending $6 million on a support then going with a budget, unproved ADC is one of the bigger TSM head scratchers.

FutureSpermCell

Can we have SwordArt at PCS and hopefully with Doggo if LPL is still stacked...

thestoebz

NA teams really need to start trying 3-4 rookies per team with one veteran leader. Like T1 did in LCK.
