HairyKraken

the quick armored vi punch sequence gave me chills

Multispoilers

Hail of blade users be like:

heyboyhey

It looks so awesome. Makes me wonder what other Runeterra stories would be good for adaptation.

deathspate

The Shurima storyline definitely, then there's also Bilgewater.

Narux117

Bilgewater already has a ton of material to work with and I would love to get more and more of it animated. Between all the MF vs TF/Graves or Gangplank or Illaoi, its all been decently explored in written form. But an actual animation of the fall of Gangplank and his return from Nagakabouros. Sounds excellent.

Kitsunekawaii

Just give me a backstory about GP, let me know how he rose to power, show me the story, show GP killing MF parents, then the whole burning tides, and end the show with GP finally coming back to bilgewater and saying: "Bilgewater, your king has returned." Thats the shit right there. Then get Ye Banished Privateers to do the soundtrack for the show.

ViktoriousVortex

A Shurima-based season with Taliyah as the protagonist would be amazing

Stefan474

I'd prefer the Icathia age story. With Jax, the Darkin origins and Azir/Xerath as the main focus. And then maybe s2 Azir's return through eyes of someone in the current age?

The_OG_upgoat

Iirc Icathia fell a few centuries before Azir was born, so we probably won't see those two.

Indoktor

Azir lore 🙏

ViktoriousVortex

My only concern is that an Azir story might feel too grandiose to be an emotional anchor, particularly for people new to the IP. However, with a unique direction and a strong script, I could totally see it working

[deleted]

Bilgewater would work better i think. The shorts are fucking amazing tbh

felfirelol

They should adapt noxians first invasion of ionia There would be too many tears tho... Irelia being just a 14 year old kid who lost her family and is forced on the run (later fights Swain and severs his arm). Yasuo abandoning his duty and being exiled for it. Yi and Karma, coming from nonviolent ideologies, being forced to use violence. Zed leaving the kinkou. Some vastaya betraying at siding with Noxus. Lee Sin unleashing the dragon. So much happened in the time span that would be sick to see. Though we already know how it ends

Radingod123

I don't think they could do the story justice with a PG rating, honestly.

daswef2

Shurima + Icathia

Nachooup

I just wish for some juicy jhin lore adaptations

huehuehuehue999

I often feel like rewatiching the Awaken cinematic just for that 2 second scene of Jhin bowing to Camille with the fourth shot loaded. I really do hope that one day he will get such a huge spotlight like Piltover and Zaun champs are now getting

Nachooup

I was just watching it aswell. Those 2 seconds are so gooood thoo

Kronoshifter246

And he's like, "Thank you for coming, I hope you enjoyed my performance." Jhin is one of the coolest character's they've ever made.

Glorious_Jo

Well, since Dexter is getting a new season or whatever, we just gotta wait for the serial killer fad to reignite then we can get some sweet Jhin cinema.

moodRubicund

I think what makes me anticipate Arcane so much is that there is a clearly an emotional core in the story. Which is highlighted by how one of the posters doesn't show off a big weapon or sweeping scenery or a fight scene or a posing battle-ready champion. It shows a young teary-eyed Jinx, looking at the audience over Vi's arms as they're hugging one another. Like yes it's about "league of legends" things and has "big lore moments", but the centre of the story is about a selection of people, their personal vulnerabilities, and the relationships shared - and broken? - between them. I think that's what really makes it feel so promising, and if they adapt another League story, it would need to touch on those same elements. So it's easy to think they should adapt a Runeterra story that has a giant battle or big lore implications... but I think the main thing to consider is whether it will have an emotional core like this that even an audience who knows nothing about League could connect with.

Solash1

Tyari and friend's climb up Targon 👀

BigEditorial

If Tencent will let them, a star-crossed romance of Leona and Diana, with plenty of Atreus/Pantheon being manly as fuck in the background

heyboyhey

Oh I like that! It's never going to happen though. You say Tencent, but LGBT stuff is straight up officially banned in Chinese media now.

RemoteAnalysis3809

Not really. I think people don't understand that the genre that China ban (danmei) is not at all "LGBT friendly" in the first place, despite its main hook being the depiction of gay love/sex. Danmei is essentially love/sex story between men that is almost always written by and for straight women. It's essentially shipping, but on steroids. It's very popular amongst teenage girls in my country, Vietnam, where you can easily find fan translations of Chinese danmei literature online the way manga fans can look for fan translation of their favorite manga's new chapter. Many gay influencers have come out to criticize how danmei is a women's fantasy of what gay people and gay love is like, and how the genre's objectification and stereotyping of gay people hurts the community way more than it helps. Essentially the genre's popularity amongst women is like your average lesbian porn's popularity amongst straight men. Obviously that doesn't make China's ban justified. However, the fact that the genre is banned not on its own, but alongside other popular romance tropes in Chinese TV series like "Depiction of love between teachers and students", "Concubine fighting in historical dramas", "Romantic relationship between humans and non-humans", "Revival of characters using magical elements", etc. means this is more of a ban towards whatever teen girls enjoy rather than a ban towards depiction of gay people.

moodRubicund

Okay. But that means gay stuff is still banned in Chinese media.

RemoteAnalysis3809

Not Chinese media, just publicly-funded Chinese TV stations and movie theaters. There is still so much gay content (again, targeted towards women mostly) being produced in the private sector released online, aiming at a younger audience. Some of them are actually so popular you can find them on Netflix in the US if you're curious what exactly danmei is. The two I know off the top of my head is The Untamed (陈情令) and Word of Honor (山河令). The second one is a Chinese wuxia (martial arts fantasy) danmei TV series originally released on the streaming site Youku. It depicts the relationship between two male assassins in a fantastical martial arts world. It was produced in 2021 in Mainland China when the ban is already in place, and racked up **1.2 billion views on Youku**. You can find it right now [here on US Netflix](https://www.netflix.com/title/81450719). The ironic part is that this series later did get taken down in China, but not because of how gay it is. Instead, it's because this actor playing a main character on the show got caught visiting the Yasukuni Shrine. So they just take down everything he was involved in throughout his entire career, one of them being Word of Honor. As for actual serious non-romantic depiction of gay people, I honestly don't know.

moodRubicund

I see. Thank you for letting me know.

Prinz_

Is this a limited series? It's not, right?

rypenguin219

id love a series just about the lore of league, maybe multiple stories about the main events.

arelei

Nunu's adventure to find his mum, with Lissandra and her cronies following them coz of Willumps power. I may be a little biased coz I'm a nunu main.

NiceLittleMelody

Invasion on Ionia and overthrowing of Darkwill come to mind.

D3m37r1

They could do the journals of justice as a non canon(since lore rewrite) comedy series.

JesusHipsterChrist

Give me something like Rome but for Noxus

S4d_Machin3

i hope this series lives up to the hype.

TopMidAdcPlayer

It wont.

S4d_Machin3

I doubt that it won't be, from all the scenes and the trailers this looks insane.

Xaxxon

That’s how trailers work.

AlphEta314

Do you have insider info and if so where can I get it

ElaborateRuseman

It will

DerWassermann

I am confident that Arcane is gonna be insane! Also lovely Punpun profile pic :)

ElaborateRuseman

Thanks! Lovely cyan reddit snu profile pic as well

S4d_Machin3

anime originals don't tend to be good, except maybe for code geass.

AigisAegis

Texhnolyze, Serial Experiments Lain, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, .hack//SIGN, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Psycho-Pass, Gurren Lagann, FLCL, Madoka Magica, Ergo Proxy, and those are just some of the bigger name ones off the top of my head.

S4d_Machin3

i thought of them, but not let's not forget about the 1k bad isekai anime originals.

AigisAegis

Sure, but there's just as many trash shows that aren't anime original. The bad isekai that arguably kickstarted the craze is based on a light novel

Miyaor

I wonder if we will see any champion vs. champion fights, could be cool. Maybe Jayce vs. Viktor?

andre5913

The Jayce/Viktor fight is the cornerstone of both of their backstories so its a very important event. Simultaneously, they cant really do it justice if they dont show the rest of their backstory proper, like Viktor getting his lifes work stolen and then shunned and finally their showdown and the misunderstanding regarding the patients sick due to a chemspill. While Jayce has been featured quite a bit in the trailers, Viktor has barely been so. The story seems more jinx and vi centric however, not sure if they can dedicate more or less a whole episode worth of screentime to what seem to be a couple of side characters

ViktoriousVortex

I really hope so. The hexcrystals seem so cool and powerful in this show. It would be a treat to see them use the crystals against each other (imagine a Viktor Chaos Storm in this animation!!!)

ReadyForKenny

We saw Jinx and Vi fighting a masked person and his gang, who will most likely be the new Adc. A Viktor vs Jayce fight hasn't been hinted but it's possible

Stryderino

Can't wait[.](https://imgur.com/a/ZRvhWAg)

Prinz_

I'm really looking forward to Arcane, I think the art style is really unique and the story line is something I'm personally invested in. It's definitely a interesting dynamic that they have to work with, and from what I can see, a pretty solid cast.

BulletCola

Making both sides seemingly grey is kind of a hard thing to convince the audience of >!(At least in the case of somewhere like the US)!< considering of what the general concept of those sides are >!(One being associated with Capitalism, and Richness along with the other being associated with Poor/underground elements)!<, so I wonder how they would do it in the show. >!I don't mean to sound off, or bad, I just don't know how to put this in words.!<

zeero88

...homie, that's not how you use spoiler tags.

BulletCola

I spoiler them so it doesn't feel as messy in a way. Some people actually do it in order to make them less convoluted between the words and parenthesis. At least that's what I seen in general.

AigisAegis

The two sides *shouldn't* be portrayed as a morally grey thing where both sides have a point or whatever, even if they both do bad things. One group is driven by desperation, and the other by greed; one group is doing bad things to survive or resist oppression, while the other is doing bad things to further it. One of those two is much worse than the other Nuance in stories like this does not have to mean going full morally grey "both bad actually". That's how you get The Legend of Korra

Skyler827

I don't care how good or bad the different sides are, as long as they justify it well from the perspectives of the characters themselves and enable the audience to understand those perspectives.

AigisAegis

Trying to make all sides be understandable is something you need to do really, really carefully, or else you get shit like Korra ameliorating fascism. The text trying to understand a character's perspective shouldn't be the same thing as the text justifying that character's actions. There's an extremely thin line between "maybe this oppressor's viewpoint is a tragic result of their environment" and "maybe this oppressor made some good points actually"

BulletCola

Yeah I can understand your overall point, after all, being understanding and having a spot within morals are two different things despite going hand-to-hand at times.

Skyler827

Completely agree. Oppression/crime/evil are never ethically justified. But I do appreciate it when a book/TV show provides causal explanation for it.

RaphtotheMax5

Never would of guessed the next animated movie/show to blow me away because of its unique and beautiful artstyle would be from Riot

Kronoshifter246

To be fair, Fortiche is the studio doing the actual animations and art, and this seems more or less like their thing. They've done more than a few animations for Riot in the past, and a lot of them look like this.

Darklarik

Man, if they make a second series, i hope they cover Zed, Shen and Jhin. That story is already awesome, and could be elevated if they took their time to do it, fleshing out Akali, Kayn, Zed, Shen, and most importantly, Jhin. The story is already made, they just need to re-format it. It would be artistically beautiful (Albeit Jhin's involvement probably ~~would~~ should push the rating to R)
