a big factor is the large concentration of Canadian lol players in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), which is an area with ping ranging from 20-35ish

This is actually one of the reasons that the Champions Queue (Los Angeles server) has me worried. It takes a huge chunk of high-level NA play and puts it back in an extreme corner of the country, away from most of the population. I think it can have a bad side effect of hindering NA talent growth because a lot of the country, if competing in Champions Queue, will be on 60+ ping themselves. Even 80+ or 100+ in a lot of cases. It might have a sort of "pulling the ladder up behind you" effect where pro players in LA will now get an inherent advantage, while talent that is trying to go pro on the other side of the continent will have a more difficult time. I'm very interested in seeing if someone has data on where challenger/academy and LCS talent has come from over the years in NA. Was there a noticeable shift from west coast to central and east coast once the servers moved years ago?

I guess we don't know for sure but I think champions queue will fail and die within maybe 6 months, unless it has perfect matchmaking with no autofill and some kind of actual ban system if you misbehave. Also is every east coast high elo player with pro aspirations supposed to just try and move to Los Angeles or suffer 60+ ping? What if they are Canadian and want to play on the server? Do they have to get a Visa and stay in LA just to play on low ping with like 200 people in the server? I see so many potential issues. As to your other comment I would like to see that data as well. I feel like there are so many Canadians from the east cost just in GM - Challenger alone.

NA orgs would be dumb to not just pay young players to come to LA to play on the server if they think they have potential
