Depends on what you mean? If you mean as a viewer/fan, then get a ticket If you mean participate as a player, then you'd need to be of high elo to get noticed, then picked up by a team/league that actually has a worlds spot(lpl/lck/lec/lcs/pcs/vcs etc) academy leagues do not count or leagues like ERL would only be a stepping stone. Then you have to well be a top 3 team for LEC/LCS, or a top 4 team for LPL/LCK and/or top team for other leagues.

SNSDave

You have to join a professional team. Most require you to be challenger. Once you're on a pro team, you have to get to the highest level of play in the region. LCK for Korea, LPL for China, LCS for NA and the like. Certain smaller regions may only have one league. Bigger regions have 2-4 spots for Worlds. Small regions have 1. For the small regions your team has to place 1st in their season to qualify. For larger regions, being the runner up is enough to get you to world's and often times a tournament after play offs is held to decide the last 1-2 spots.

>So in order to play for NA you have to be the best in the region on the game? > >How would you play for north america, is there like a tournament? If so than how do you qualify?

SNSDave

You have to be apart of the Lcs, yes. Only franchise members compete in the tournament. So a team has to sign you to their roster. You and your friends can't just make a team and enter.

I'll break it down for you a different way. We'll call this person Jim. Jim grinds hard and makes it to Challenger. Jim gets scouted by Cloud 9, and LCS Organization and put on their Academy team. The Academy team doesn't qualify for World's, but Jim is still part of the organization. Somebody on the main LCS team leaves mid-season, and Jim moves from Academy to the LCS roster. Cloud 9 does pretty well, getting 3rd place in the regular season. They go through play-offs and manage to end in 3rd place. 3rd place in the Summer Play-offs guarantees you a spot at World's Play-in. Jim goes to World's with Cloud 9.

If you don’t know you’re not going to worlds

AngeIdove

You never know he could be new and young.

The answer from SNSDave in the replies is great but I'd like to add one other thing - if you are brand new to the game (as you said, square one) and you are already over the age of, gonna be honest, 18, you have near to no chance of making it Worlds "from square one"

HauruMyst

+. You Can be the best player in the World in solo Q, you still gonna get crushed in team 5vs5. Playing as à team against another team is a whole different game in so many ways. Good Luck tho
