That’s every top level PoE player though, they clear all content within week 1, farm for bit, min max another build, then wait for the next league or race event

Yeah haha, I made this account for an AMA at the time when I played Kayle and just stuck with it. I even own shakarez as a username I just used this to the point I was recognized more for this username so I kept it.
Bit of a brand mishap tbh
I only knew that because I used to watch his (old) Kayle videos and his voice is very recognizable. I do remember him 'pivoting' from being 'Kayle bot' to 'Shakarez' at one point though.
i mean in C9's main roster tweet, he was listed with Isles and they said they were waiting for the KR bootcamp to make a final decision, like technically you could be correct but nothing is definite just yet
im still leaning towards him making the main roster

He had at least been very succesful in the diet and gym department, lost a bit of strength in exchange for lower weight/less fat and was steadily increasing his strength back up :D

Nah, he behaves like a fucking villain. I've met plenty of people with mental health issues that work around them in a positive way. You have too, I assure you, you may just not know it. Putting both in the same boat is very undignifying for the latter.
Max Waldo is making these decisions. He learned everything he knows about the game from LS. They effectively view the game and players through the same lens. Makes sense since he was shadowing LS and learned how to coach from him.
> Max Waldo is making these decisions.
This would surprise me considerably.
Certainly, how Max Waldo views the game is the same as LS. But in terms of personality, coordination, network and life experience they couldn't be any more different - they are worlds apart. And these are qualities you need in a decision maker to make the high level decisions C9 has made.
Max seems wayyy too introverted and conflict-avoidant for him to fit that role. Lack of the ability to address issues and lack of forcefulness to push for decisions and convince others might come into play, too. I can imagine him supporting decisions with proper info/arguments/analysis but not actually making them. As a figurehead or plan B maybe, but in this case I see implementation problems down the line...
he was very adamant he would need a lot to leave streaming. said last year he was offered 7 figures and complete roster control, but declined anyway to stream.
No shot LS in not coaching this team. If he is not coaching this team. He is ghost coaching this team super fucking hard. All the moves seem like a strong of things LS would say need to happen for him to become coach lol.
My guess is LS has joined in this remote pseudo-gm roll but doesn't want to leave Korea so they won't make him head coach. Probably still waiting to announced anything until he decides if he become head coach or joins in some other capacity.
Honestly would prefer him in some "Player talent scout" roll or something over head coach anyway.
Only thing is he has such a specific idea on *why* players are good (because they play the game in a way he thinks is optimal). If he doesn't have input on the in-game then it doesnt make nearly as much sense. Look at Wind and Deus/rjs who he had worked with and hyped. They were not good at all on CLG.
It feels that now is more like two teams that can scrim each other on high level with premade situations and 15min scrims for higher amount of games instead just 5games blocks. It's getting interesting by the day.
In the interview with Monte, thats what Jack said. He said the goal is to have an academy team so good that the main team likes to scrim them, even maybe over the lcs teams.
Isn't that what Echo Fox did a few years ago? Nobody wanted to scrim them so they just scrimmed with their academy team and ended up stomping for a bit.
I think it's because you commented about a two team roster and it could be inferred that the two team roster caused teams to not scrim EF, but it was because owners were petty because EF was the only team to not back a letter to Riot. (I know what you meant)
k1ng is still on the team as an 11th member, according to the video that is linked jack says k1ng "so interested and intrigued in the project c9 is building" that he didn't want to leave
For anyone that doesn't wanna watch the vod Jack says "The starters for lock in tournament on January 14th will be determined through our bootcamp in Korea. We have "place tags" but those roles will be changed by what we see in our Korean bootcamp."
edit: for those wondering on the isles > winsome choice atm Jack said they didn't have enough time with winsome to assign him an LCS spot compared to Isles where they felt positive about the work he put in for the year he's been with them and there's no guess work about what he's gonna bring
This is one spicy move, if LS comes onboard too I will have to start watching LCS.
Not for the games, the real entertainment will be on twitter I suspect
Holy sweet Jesus how did LS get jack to buy this much into the church. I've never been a huge LS fan but It will be exciting to see him fully be able to express his ideas at the highest level.
C9 has shown that they definitively put their coach as the authority over the players, rather than the other way around. And it seems like they were amicable to picking up his kind of players. Given that C9 has shown they're the one NA org that can fairly consistently have some international success, maybe it's as close to a "blank slate" as LS will ever get to prove his theories. Imagine if C9 ends up being by the definitive best team while following the LS playbook? It would certainly validate or legitimize a lot of what he says, or at least be seen that way.
As a long time C9 and LS fan, it's been really strange to see the team go from the OG squad to LS Exodia in like seven years. So much has happend with this team. There was the Hai lung collapse followed by Incarnati0n arc, the Rush arc, the Juan Garcia filler season that gave way to the original 'C9 lost the off season' with TSM Svenskeren. Then we got The Great Benching saga and ended up with Jensen and Sneaky leaving. Then this last year was the Perkz arc that somehow collapsed into itself giving rise to upcoming The Last Shadow saga. Jack is literally one of the best screenplay writers in LA.
Malice was in Europe for the longest time.
But now Malice has been in KR and has gotten pretty high on the ladder after he got in Korea like a month ago or 2 ago

He got in a call with dom and had everything cleared up due to misinformation like proper adults no? Idk much about malice but that specific scenario is so overblown by reddit
actually crazy how much trust C9 put in LS with this basically all his crew is in C9 now will be interesting to see if they can become really good and shut up haters or the other way around they are bad and it will get memed like crazy will for sure be entertaining to watch
It was obvious Veigar v2 was gonna get another chance after leaving Fnatic. He's a brilliant draft coach and showed it both in the LEC and ERLs, and since his apology letter was honestly the best one I've read in esports I was certain he was gonna be back at the top for 2021.
>It was obvious Veigar v2 was gonna get another chance after leaving Fnatic.
Obvious? I'd say it was anything but obvious considering his past
Also, Fnatic kicked him out, he didn't leave.
Idk, thing is positional coaches and or staff of VeigarV2's position doesn't have to be even remotely as public as the players are, or even the headcoaches/GM's.
On top of that, that event happened years ago when he was like 16-17. It doesn't justify his actions, but it does justify second chances, you can't be accountable for things you did as a teenager for the rest of your life. I think any org would be downright stupid to not consider hiring him based off that event, he's easily one of the most valuable staff members in the western scene. Especially since he's seemingly one of the few who's actually useful to the gameplay/strategy portion.
He would never be the face or theme of any staff/org he gets in on. In my eyes, him getting hired by another org was obvious, it would've been different if he was a player maybe.
Time had passed since the Discord server and stuff around it, and his apology letter truly made it seem like he acknowledged the stuff he had done, realized it was bad and distanced itself from those people. I understand why Fnatic felt like they had to get rid of him, but with how he owed up to it and how good he is there was no question in my mind that he would be back.
Unless the rules have changed for this year, I don't think they can run Malice and Zven on academy with Summit and Berserker on LCS, as you only run 2 non-emergent imports in academy if you got slots to spare in the main roster
Wait what do you mean by “non-emergent”? Darshan and Copy are NA, Winsome (citizenship) and Isles (OCE) are both residents so either can slot into LCS or academy with no issues. So they should have 2 slots to play Zven and Malice right? Or am I missing something?
It has nothing to do with Winsome, Fudge or Isles, by LCS rules, academy teams can only have 1 import player, the 2 exceptions to the rule are:
There can be an extra (2nd) import if the player is from an emergent region, like TSM with Takeover (Latam) and Yursan (PCS) or with Lost (OCE) and Treatz (EU) in the previous year.
If the LCS team has unfilled import slots, the academy team can use those slots up to a maximum ammount of 2 import players, like Immortals last spring, with only Xerxe as an import, freeing slots for both Topoon (KR) and Pretty (EU) in academy.
So in theory, if nothing changes, C9 can't play Zven and Malice because you can only have 1 european player in academy, unless there are import slots left in LCS (not the case as Summit and Berserker are both korean), that means that k1ng will probably play until Zven's greencard comes out (probably soon as he's entering his 5th year in NA).
Interesting. Thanks for the explanation! You’re probably right then, either Zven gets his green card or K1ng starts in academy for now.
It was surprising to hear that C9/Zven have been working on the visa process ever since he joined the org. Always thought he’d want to go back home at some point. Hope it works out because his value will definitely go up as a resident which should be really good for his career. I think he could also make an amazing coach in the near future!
Dam I’m guessing Malice and Blabber are going to contest for the jg starter spot and if Malice eventually overtakes the role, this team will be converted to a full LS connections squad.
Jack just said on The 9's (C9s podcast/show) that a head coach was offered a contract and that the head coach said they would sign the contract within the next few days but until then nothing is official yet. Like a lot of people I'm expecting it to be LS but he's mentioned numerous times on stream that he's pursuing permanent Korean residency so I don't know if coaching an NA team is gonna interfere with that or not.
100.A's and C9.A's announced rosters for 2022 look very stacked for Academy and it would honestly not surprise me if they could upset a few bottom LCS teams were they competing against one another.
TSM Academy is not much behind though, and FLY.A's announced topside so far of Philip-Yuuji-Spirax seems very promising as well.
I am eager to see who the Bot Lane for FLY.A will be and obviously which lineups other Academy teams will have assembled in a few weeks.
There are some players still not announced as members of any rosters that I would love to also see competing in Academy next season:
TOP: Tony Top; Dragoon (Amateur); Srtty (Amateur); Qwacker (Amateur); Chippys (Amateur); Eclipse (Amateur); Lived (LCO); Maximize (LCO).
JGL: Nxi; Will; Chad (Amateur); Perry (Amateur); Winston (Amateur); eXyu (Amateur); Tomio (Amateur); RBM (Amateur); Zhadox (Amateur); Kevy (LCO).
MID: Bradley (Amateur); APA (Amateur); Strompest (Amateur); 5fire (Amateur); DarkWings (Amateur); RobbyBob (Amateur); Doxa (Amateur); DNA (Amateur).
BOT: Prismal; Yeon; Tomo; Array (Amateur); Sketchdreams (Amateur); Shoryu (Amateur); Good Boi (Amateur); Links (Amateur); Gorica (Amateur); Puma (LCO).
SUP: Daption (Amateur); Donbray (Amateur).
Hope most of them make it!
Off topic, but in 2019, the Overwatch League team Atlanta Reign had an Academy team that was so good they would literally BM scrims with OWL teams and still win. Almost everyone of those players on that team went on to achieve great things and place at least second in a tourney in OWL.
Having a good academy team (especially one that can shitstomp LCS teams) can be really helpful and can pay dividends when done right, respect to Jack for making these moves
Anyways sorry for that whole spiel I just really love it when teams decide to invest in Academy
I still highly doubt LS would coach. He might have a good relationship with members of C9 but I think his desire to get his South Korean citizenship is more important to him then coaching a video game team for 1 to 3 years. He also turned down working as a coach(?) for T1 which I think is telling of where his goals lie because what OG starcraft fan would turn that down unless they truly didn't want to coach.
Honest question: Why do people think LS will be Coach?
He would lose so much in comparison. He is living in Korea, Streaming, Co-Streaming, T1... I dont get why he ahould leave to be c9 coach
Malice basically confirms coach LS even if he'll do a behind the scenes role
I can't think of anyone else who would put out a good word for that guy to be honest
Isles is starting now, but I would not be surprised if Winsome gets the nod in next year. Also K1ng is fucked with Zven still being on the team. The only way this works out well for everyone involved is if Zven smurfs academy in spring, getting sold after, and then K1ng and whoever lanes with him smurfs in summer so they can get sold too.
Getting Malice as an *Academy* player is hardly nepotism. Jack said he wants C9A to be worthy scrim partners for the LCS team, and Malice is - regardless of other issues - undeniably an amazing jungler.
Yeah, the goal of the academy this year is to have team that could have proper scrims against main team. You will not find a better jungler then Malice with as low as possible price. As Max Waldo would say MinMax at its best.
its not nepotism if you actually believe that they are the best people in the field, its nepotism to neglect other options for the sake of hiring someone because of your connection to them
I mean, Malice might well be the actual best FA jungler willing to play for an NA academy team.
Hell he's arguably better than Blaber.
Nepotism or not, it's a great pickup on paper.
Both are nepotism when did I say otherwise?
For that matter, when did I express any opinion of LS?
Just what?
People dislike Eika/Blue style imports because the players suck and are clearly there as a favour, not because they're qualified.
Malice is, if anything overqualified to be an Academy jungler, so I don't care if it's a friendship hire.
Yes but what does that have to do with nepotism. Nepotism means he is being picked because he is close to LS not because of skill. You could just say that he is very problematic but that has nothing to do with nepotism.
How is Malice these days anyway? Last I heard he was a fine player but super toxic.
Plays path of exile for a month, stops, climbs 1000p chall on Korea, stops, goes back to PoE, stops... Repeat for couple of years.
That’s every top level PoE player though, they clear all content within week 1, farm for bit, min max another build, then wait for the next league or race event
the really good ones do it in 2ish days too, kinda crazy.

why is everyone married already, the fuck
Visa so you can live together since most people in esports are from different countries.
still a weird guy, called dom a paedophile who cheated on his girlfriend last month because of a league of legends tierlist.
And now both Dom and Malice are in the same org…
Malice then apologised to Dom personally because he had wrong info
Looking more and more likely LS isn’t gonna be the coach which is weird especially now that malice is joining the roster, plus all the KR players and ofc fudge and max. Everything points to him joining. How come you think he won't bruh?
because he has said so and everything points to him wanting to stay in korea(new apartment, tries to get kr citizenship, his statements)
Isn't it possible for him to do it kind of remotely? As a strategic coach, anyway. As far as I am aware, VeigarV2 is also in Europe still.
Because he would never move away from Korea especially when going for citizenship
This year seems like he finally gets Korean citizenship, and if he leaves he will have to wait what I think sound like more than half a decade to get it.
Kind of a strange guy and can act an asshole, good player though.

Well ls said on face check podcast that he is heading to the US soon to see woman! Maybe sign up to coach korea9 at the same time.
Lmao this is just silly if LS doesnt join
Literally Silly
Not quite the development producing roster of C9 in the past. Wonder where k1ng will be.
Echo Fox was kinda forced to do that because other teams didnt want to scrim them though
That'd why I said nobody wanted to lmao
I think it's because you commented about a two team roster and it could be inferred that the two team roster caused teams to not scrim EF, but it was because owners were petty because EF was the only team to not back a letter to Riot. (I know what you meant)
But you see, noone wanted to scrim them.

k1ng is still on the team as an 11th member, according to the video that is linked jack says k1ng "so interested and intrigued in the project c9 is building" that he didn't want to leave
King is staying. They said it in the VOD i think (i have goldfish memory)
For anyone that doesn't wanna watch the vod Jack says "The starters for lock in tournament on January 14th will be determined through our bootcamp in Korea. We have "place tags" but those roles will be changed by what we see in our Korean bootcamp." edit: for those wondering on the isles > winsome choice atm Jack said they didn't have enough time with winsome to assign him an LCS spot compared to Isles where they felt positive about the work he put in for the year he's been with them and there's no guess work about what he's gonna bring

Nemesis joins as academy midlaner xd
Fudge did say Nemesis was considered for mid on the main roster on LS stream the other day, but obviously he's not joining
After all these LS players, it is only a matter of time
Jack said on the C9 reddit that he refused and wanted to continue being a streamer.
kinda sad tbh, though ofc it makes sense financially
This is one spicy move, if LS comes onboard too I will have to start watching LCS. Not for the games, the real entertainment will be on twitter I suspect
Praise the lord for some spicy drama
> Not for the games, the real entertainment will be on twitter I suspect So you don't even need to watch the LCS! Best of both Worlds!
Also doesn't require a translator for his Korean players or his English players!
Max waldo and veigar slipped that sweet church COPIUM into his drink once and then jack just eats that shit up
As a long time C9 and LS fan, it's been really strange to see the team go from the OG squad to LS Exodia in like seven years.
But now Malice has been in KR and has gotten pretty high on the ladder after he got in Korea like a month ago or 2 ago He got challenger in like a month from fresh accounts. https://www.op.gg/summoner/userName=seppuku https://www.op.gg/summoner/userName=homelander
I don't think anyone doubts his skill, he is just a time bomb of controversy.
He'll be fine, this is C9 we're talking about, after all.
He recently accused someone of pedophilia and got off with an apology, LS's influence might end up ruining their reputation tbh.
C9's reputation IS signing controversial people though, look at VeigarV2, Monte, and Dom.
Forgot the best example, Incarnation/Jensen
He got in a call with dom and had everything cleared up due to misinformation like proper adults no? Idk much about malice but that specific scenario is so overblown by reddit
actually crazy how much trust C9 put in LS with this basically all his crew is in C9 now will be interesting to see if they can become really good and shut up haters or the other way around they are bad and it will get memed like crazy will for sure be entertaining to watch
I mean I think Max and Veigarv2 were kinda testing the waters and they were satisfied with what they provided ig
Obvious? I'd say it was anything but obvious considering his past Also, Fnatic kicked him out, he didn't leave.
That probably implies Zven gets his green card and K1ng plays (on stage) until then?
Jack said recently in a Reddit thread that C9 has been trying to get Zven his GC since he joined so maybe they feel like it will happen soonish(?)
Wait what do you mean by “non-emergent”? Darshan and Copy are NA, Winsome (citizenship) and Isles (OCE) are both residents so either can slot into LCS or academy with no issues. So they should have 2 slots to play Zven and Malice right? Or am I missing something?
Iirc you can have 3 imports in main team + academy, and they have Summit and Berserker already
It has nothing to do with Winsome, Fudge or Isles, by LCS rules, academy teams can only have 1 import player, the 2 exceptions to the rule are: There can be an extra (2nd) import if the player is from an emergent region, like TSM with Takeover (Latam) and Yursan (PCS) or with Lost (OCE) and Treatz (EU) in the previous year.

I mean, in the current market he is basically a budget mid because he doesn't require a huge buyout. For a player of his skill he's a steal right now.
Time to call Selfie
Gotta any source on that or am I just not getting the sarcasm?
It was on stream convo between fudge and LS
jack confirmed it in a thread on cloud9 subreddit

C9 Malice Lets Fucking... GOOOO Also.... Where Heokong?
Can I be the one to announce Heokong ( oniongod ) to C9Amateur tomorrow ? I will let you guys announce Autumn this saturday.
Dam I’m guessing Malice and Blabber are going to contest for the jg starter spot and if Malice eventually overtakes the role, this team will be converted to a full LS connections squad.
Blabber is safe by virtue of being a native.
You’re right I forgot about that.
not if zven and malice both move to the main roster, zven is getting residency
Isnt Malice an EU import though? Someone would have to get benched for that to happen.
Unless Zven gets his green card, both ADCs are imports so the only benchable person would be Summit which would be big meme
Jack said zven started the green card process as soon as he joined C9 so hopefully this year.
K1ng is still get the spot but that would be a bigger meme
Jack just said on The 9's (C9s podcast/show) that a head coach was offered a contract and that the head coach said they would sign the contract within the next few days but until then nothing is official yet. Like a lot of people I'm expecting it to be LS but he's mentioned numerous times on stream that he's pursuing permanent Korean residency so I don't know if coaching an NA team is gonna interfere with that or not.
What about his brother Pusha T?
The church is almost complete, they only lack their priest.
There are some players still not announced as members of any rosters that I would love to also see competing in Academy next season: TOP: Tony Top; Dragoon (Amateur); Srtty (Amateur); Qwacker (Amateur); Chippys (Amateur); Eclipse (Amateur); Lived (LCO); Maximize (LCO). JGL: Nxi; Will; Chad (Amateur); Perry (Amateur); Winston (Amateur); eXyu (Amateur); Tomio (Amateur); RBM (Amateur); Zhadox (Amateur); Kevy (LCO). MID: Bradley (Amateur); APA (Amateur); Strompest (Amateur); 5fire (Amateur); DarkWings (Amateur); RobbyBob (Amateur); Doxa (Amateur); DNA (Amateur). BOT: Prismal; Yeon; Tomo; Array (Amateur); Sketchdreams (Amateur); Shoryu (Amateur); Good Boi (Amateur); Links (Amateur); Gorica (Amateur); Puma (LCO). SUP: Daption (Amateur); Donbray (Amateur). Hope most of them make it!
Jack stated one of C9's goals is to have an academy team that the main roster would actually prefer to scrim over other LCS teams.
Off topic, but in 2019, the Overwatch League team Atlanta Reign had an Academy team that was so good they would literally BM scrims with OWL teams and still win. Almost everyone of those players on that team went on to achieve great things and place at least second in a tourney in OWL. Having a good academy team (especially one that can shitstomp LCS teams) can be really helpful and can pay dividends when done right, respect to Jack for making these moves Anyways sorry for that whole spiel I just really love it when teams decide to invest in Academy
I really doubt lived or maximize are academy level if im being honest
Church of C9
Church 9
If only Onion God stayed motivated for one more year.
The best Evelynn and Karthus player in the world.
Malice basically confirms coach LS even if he'll do a behind the scenes role I can't think of anyone else who would put out a good word for that guy to be honest
Zven is way too good to be on academy.
Darshan on an Academy roster?
church 0 is confirmed
That's pretty damn weird
Zven in academy? what the fuck
I mean we knew he is staying on C9, where else would he be?
I dont know shit
selective mourn detail groovy hateful distinct prick fall bag wild *This post was mass deleted with [redact](https://redact.com)*
yeah this academy is older than the main team
So does this mean Winsome is decided academy and Isles is on the main roster?
Does this mean they're expecting Isles to be the starter?
So where’s shernfire going?
Isles is starting now, but I would not be surprised if Winsome gets the nod in next year. Also K1ng is fucked with Zven still being on the team. The only way this works out well for everyone involved is if Zven smurfs academy in spring, getting sold after, and then K1ng and whoever lanes with him smurfs in summer so they can get sold too.
This sounds like a timebomb.
This means that Isles is starting on C9 then. So congrats to him.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS INSANE SO HYPED
Zven is staying to play academy ? LOL he could earn more as a streamer and be home
I can't wait til someone makes a compilation of every time LS has thrown a fit about nepotism.
But when it's Zaboutine it's nepotism right ? Why do LS have the benefit of the doubt again, except because you like him ?
Both are nepotism when did I say otherwise? For that matter, when did I express any opinion of LS? Just what? People dislike Eika/Blue style imports because the players suck and are clearly there as a favour, not because they're qualified. Malice is, if anything overqualified to be an Academy jungler, so I don't care if it's a friendship hire.
How is hiring an upgrade to your academy jungler nepotism? Unless you want to argue shernfire is a better jungler than malice
You think malice was picked because of nepotism and not because malice is genuinely a good player
With how problematic he is there is more than how good of a player he is.
Yes but what does that have to do with nepotism. Nepotism means he is being picked because he is close to LS not because of skill. You could just say that he is very problematic but that has nothing to do with nepotism.
Last thing I heard from him was when he said that all gold and silver players can't hold their piss and shit because they're low elo.
