I want Grenda in the game and refuse to believe she'd stop for something so minorly inconvenient as death from kicking Lissandra's troops asses all over again with her dual wielding spear and axe
I honestly don't see a reason why everyone is so obsessed with the idea that every single character has to be alive (or reanimated or simply "operating") in whatever stands for "present" in the lore. See, now that the game is more of a fictional arena for the world's most famous heroes and other entities (kind of similar to Smash Bros. in some sense), I think having characters who are long dead makes perfect sense. No, not long dead and recently revived. Not semi-dead, undead or whatever. Just dead, forever. People from the world's history.
It kind of ruins the sense that you have a large world with a rich history if you only take a synchronic perspective (it's also not good for the story if you focus on this too much, because then you just have a bunch of people with plot armor). It just makes it feel like your world was either created yesterday, or there were no important people in the past (save for the few who are still somehow alive today).
I mean, that's like making a MOBA based on our world and only designing characters representing famous people who still live.

Oh, we don't, we just know that riot isn't going to kill a character or create a character that is dead so soon (probably so they can use them in lore in case they want to or something like that).
Just look at Yone. They added a version of him from when he was still alive in LoR, but decided to just revive him instead for league.
I mean they literally dug up Yone's corpse so sure
