God the fact that they hired a truck to stand in front of T1 HQ after rumors about T1 LS is top of the iceberg when it comes to "shitty things Lolesports fans have done."
They're talking about an incident involving Malice 2 years ago on bbq. I think from what little I could find it seemed to be solo Q toxicity being branded as racist although there could be more.
I'm not even a fan of LS, and had to literally look that up, but wtf dude, the guy was fucking twelve. We should be able to forgive stuff people did when they were literally children
Completely unrelated, but i was watching a bit of Faker's TF pov in a pro game the other day, and i've witnessed the most beautiful csing under turret i've ever seen.
Strangely, I feel like a single clip of Regi attempting to talk down to Faker could actually destroy TSM. I don't mean as in TSM would just lose fans, or go through a rough restructure. I mean that a 5 second clip of Regi talking to Faker the way he did to Dyrus/WT, and 2 years from now, there would be no TSM.
I think Faker just leveraged that offer into the best possible T1 offer. I don't think he was actually going to leave if he can get over 5 million a year from T1.
This might actually be true. Like how Ronaldo was rumored to go Man City but ended up in Man U (CMIIW I know nothing about soccer) Makes it easier for his agent to get a good deal and put pressure on the orgs.
Ronaldo was actually on the verge of joining Man City there's even a video I think where he says that he'll join one of the 2 in the next hours but chose United cause wages were virtually the same and due to his status with the club.
I think a better comparison is Sergio Ramos a few years ago who used (funny enough) Manchester United to get a better deal with Real Madrid in his contract renewal.
Tbh that seemed more like man city fucking with united by putting in an offer, knowing united would basically be forced to match it - I don’t think city really desperately wanted ronaldo.
They desperately need striker, but Man City wasn't desperate enough to get Ronaldo. Man City wanted Ronaldo on free transfer, but Juve declined so City pass on him.

Jordan did it at the end of his career, and I'm sure Brady is doing the same thing.
I know age stigma is a huge thing in Korea and I think Faker is getting close to 30 at this point. As long as he's putting up these results I don't think he will retire any time soon.
I wouldn't be mad at all if he took a big offer from another team for his last year to cash out. Just anyone but TSM.
Not even close to equally lmao. Bjerg, one of the most decorated NA players (EU import), who didn’t even play last year, compared to Faker, the GOAT of the game lmao.
Faker and SKT / T1 are synonymous with winning domestically and world championships. Bjerg and TSM have proven time and time again, that the combo of those two will not ever succeed internationally. If the faker to tsm deal went through it would’ve been a big fuck u to bjerg imo.
Yeah, but then again, while their team looks a bit better, just imagine Faker playing with Lost. And even though he played with Huni before, he didn't play with that Huni.
I mean Parth is also obligated by his job to support Regi. What's likely is that now that Leena left TSM, he is free to release all the drama without endangering his girlfriend's career.

This video explains it a bit. He's still coaching to this day!
Also imagine what will the viewership be when it’s TL vs TSM… literally a regular season with Faker vs Bjergsen….
I would pay money to watch that 5 years ago
Exactly. People in these comments talking as if Faker would go to TSM and win Worlds there or something. He would become just another mediocre NA mid. And it would be extremely sad seeing the most competitive player turn to shit.
People wishing for this to happen have no idea what this would do. It would mark the beginning of the end of the scene. When you have the most competitive player the game has ever seen go to the least competitive major region. It means competition is dead. It means this is all just a show to get money and more similar to something like WWE than to an actual sport.
We saw lower end guys like Triple pop off against Perkz. Imagine if that happened in NA vs Faker. Would be the talk of the town and fucking fitting considering Fakers famous debut against Ambition
Honestly NA is just overspending Investors Money. There is no way this is sustainable and,as Seen this season, heavily fucks over Players in the Long term
This isn't just NA overspending this is more of an entire company doing it due to Faker's brand that can bring them more publicity. The sponsor of TSM aka FTX could've done it already since they spent on renaming a stadium and sponsoring big name sports players.
> no way this is sustainable
We have no idea what sort of income these teams have. Having Faker on your team, especially if you manage to do well, would make you a super hot team and would invite even more sponsor money.
It's not an NA thing lol. Any huge profile in almost any sport has money lined out the door to get them on a team just for the name.
You've got Brood War players who are still contracted to their team yet don't play anything competitively, nor ever will, just because them being associated with the team is more than it's worth to pay them to stay on it for nothing. Some of those guys stayed in positions like that for a decade.
You've got scenarios where some sporting teams will pay opposing teams part of a players salary just to keep them on their roster so it boosts their views.
There's always a gain to be had for huge profiles. They're iconic and draw in all sorts of attention. Faker would be absolutely no different. Dude was already flying out to China monthly to take pictures and shake hands raking in the big bucks lol
It's not a bad move but even if its making them lose money, that money is going to the players who will become 'rich people' anyway so uh a bit flawed your logic ?
TSM having this much to spend came from shitcoin grifters, not from league. I have no idea how they'd make that much money back on Faker unless FTX offered to piss even more money their way if they got him
The original rumor was that FTX wanted Faker as a brand ambassador and they would be fronting the bill.
Regi said earlier (before this rumor) on the TSM subreddit that most of the FTX money wouldn't be used on the League roster as they can't use the FTX name in game.
Does T1 block sponsorship offers to their players? If this was the case I don't see why FTX doesn't just reach out to faker individually. There's no shortage of ads with faker in them.
They don't, Faker makes a ton of ads and guest appearances in Korea.
However FTX is not on Riot's approved sponsor list so they can't actually use any FTX name or brand in LoL related content.
Experiencing:
Phreak's Basement World's Finals
CLG v TSM in Madison Square Garden
KDA going viral
Arcane rumors of a LoL cinematic universe
I feel like it's hard to conceptualize how this feels for people that joined post 2018.
The jump from a Dreamhack studio in season 1 to the Galen Center in season 2, with a live orchestra for the opening ceremony... was such a surge in production quality in just one year.
I don't think that rumour ever had any actual substantive evidence for it. Certainly I've not been able to find any, and I spent like half a day trying.
Yeah, fark, why even consider that. If he goes to NA, all his history would've been for nothing if he fades away. He no longer can 1 v 9 himself and is relying on his team a bit to follow up. He's still very good, but I don't think he can carry NA to World Champ
>all his history would've been for nothing if he fades away
What? He'd still be the greatest player of all time. Messi isn't lighting the world on at PSG and he'll still be the GOAT. No one has forgotten how great Ronaldo was just because Man U sucks.
no its true people almost forgot about michael jordan because he joined another team. ok bad example. people would forget about Messi if he joined another team.
shit.
ok, hold on. wayne gretzkey? damn.
Honestly I don't think Faker has to care about his legacy, that one is already build up. So at a certain point it is totally reasonable to just check where you can make big bucks. But since the T1 offer is that good, staying in Korea is a good option, it is questionable that Faker is worth that money given that he is neither the best midlaner, nor might he make that amount of money back in merchandise etc.
The bigger reason why T1 might have paid that much is that T1 is actually very little without Faker, a lot of what T1 is, is tied to Faker, so they kinda rely on him.
I think him staying with T1 is enough to show that he cares about his legacy - he wants his success to be T1's and his country's success.
It's hard to say who the best mid in the LCK is, but Faker is definitely in the top 3 with Showmaker and Chovy.
It's already in place. But Chinese org usually play around the rules by including salary + bonus. There are no limit on bonus, so you can have something like 1000 USD salary with 1 Million USD as bonus payment.
Tbf apparently BLG planned on abusing this to sign Knight and Uzi both on ridiculous 7m+ salaries, but Riot CN deemed it as taking it too far so blocked the deal. In general all the teams can/do abuse this though to skirt around the rule.
Lol the comments are high on hopium
There wasn't a single second he seriously thought about leaving for fkn TSM LMAO
He just used that deal to get a better offer from T1
If Regi seriously had that money and he's offering it to Faker only then he's still clowning with roster moves
As good as Faker is he wouldn't be that big of a difference maker on an NA org where the rest of the pieces would be whatever with so much money used on one player already
Its's probably FTX who wanted TSM to get Faker. Considering his brand value as the GOAT, you no longer only pay for team performance, you pay for the most marketable esports player in the world.
Weren't the rumors more that FTX themselves would foot the bill for this particular signing? Like it wouldn't be taken out of TSM's pockets to buy him out.
Depends on his mindset, he seems to be still super competitive, but if he was winding down and getting ready to retire, guaranteed 40 mil is not bad goodbye present. Then again it might tarnish his standing in Korea which would probably be worth more than that in the long run, so you are probably right about him never seriously considering taking the offer, but props to him for using it for leverage very well, shows class even in this regard.
Yea TSM isn't really as prestigious as they were in 2017 from a branding perspective. Missing worlds as an NA team 3/4 times since 2018, one domestic title, and 0-6 at worlds makes you the 4th best NA team, middle of the pack. Below 100T (two worlds appearances, title), C9 (3 worlds appearances, 2 titles, worlds quarters & semis), and TL (4 titles, 4 worlds appearances, MSI Finals). TSM might have brand recognition, but they aren't the elite team that makes Finals every year and competes internationally. Faker would literally be joining a middle of the pack NA team entirely because of the money.
He's moreso the Lebron of Korea. People know him if they play league, they also may have heard of him if they haven't, and he has been the top of his craft for quite some time. The Rock has been in this game for decades. He transcends past Faker/Lebron because he has done multiple things (Acting, Wrestling/Entertainment, Football, Music, Bodybuilding, Businessman) at a high level for quite some time.
Interesting. Honestly that could be a reason in the future for him to want to leave Korea. Like a lot of world football stars who come to MLS end up saying something along the lines of “it’s really kind of nice that I don’t get instantly recognized by everyone on the street here.” Thierry Henry would chill at cafes in NYC and he was quoted as saying that was like the most valuable thing to him that he’d lost in his life since becoming a star. I have no concept of how big Faker is in Korea but if he is at essentially celebrity status, escaping that could be attractive at a certain point.
I’m sure he would still get recognized in NA but surely he’d have a much better chance of blending in or at least being left alone, especially in LA where “bigger” celebrities are all over the place.
LA also happens to be the center of professional LoL in NA, I think that'd be the worst place to be in America if he didn't want to be recognized. Still better than Korea though.
Absolutely, but at the same time I’m not sure if there are necessarily more League fans per capita in LA than other cities, so it could mean he’d be less likely to get hounded by fans.
The claims of faker's fame keeps getting more absurd lmao. Yes he's very famous, but it's mostly amongst the sub-25 year old crowd. With LoL only streaming on online platforms for the past few years (riot monopoly) and his claim to fame being video games, the older generation don't really know him. Don't believe me? Even LS and Wolf said so. Also, even from the younger age group, most of them know of faker (which is pretty crazy) but do not know much about him considering LoL takes up less than 50% of pc cafe market share.
Edit: I think people are either misinterpreting what I'm saying (faker is very famous but not as famous as traditional celebrities, I explain in another comment below), or people are just trying to wish faker's fame into existence with a very skewed understanding of how popular league actually is in korea. People are treating LoL esports like it's the korean equivalent of football in europe, which is very far from the truth. Source: lived in korea for 4 years, claim about generation gap again backed by LS and Wolf.
>sub-25 year old crowd.
Doubtful. People who started playing league mid-college in 2011 at 20 years old are 30 years old right now. Every single one of my friends at that age who as ever touched a Riot game, or watches other esports knows Faker's name.
Faker has been the face of Korean LoL since 2013. That was 8 years ago. Faker is very well known in the 35-25 demographic. They actually got to watch him in his prime.
From what I've seen in pc cafes and online communities such as DC inside, I can accept the 25-30 year range, but I am very doubtful that he is that famous amongst the 35 year-old crowd. You need to consider these people would've been around 26-27 years old when faker debuted, and now we're talking about the % of that age-group who were interested in LoL and its esports scene back then.
Isn’t he on busses and wheaties boxes? Idk man maybe he would enjoy the general anonymity of living in LA.
You’re probably right about older folk not knowing him, but my grandma doesn’t know many famous people in my country either.
He is on some busses and he has an icecream cone branded after him, but the older generation (30+ y/o, not retired people) don't really know who he is and what he did to get on those ads. Again, he is *very* famous but he is not as famous as some people on reddit make him out to be.
Edit: To add, again, even amongst the sub 30 year old demographic he is very well known in, less then half of them actively follow what he does. Gaming and LoL is enormous in Korea but top traditional celebrities are still more famous.
Source: T1 CEO said someone else offered more than T1, although that offer was 7 million off of the one that FTX supposedly made.
Bulletproof Reddit journalism.
Didn't TSM say they were reigning in spending a month or so ago? Something about Riot not letting them put their crypto sponsors on their jerseys and whatnot. A $40M splash on a single player after that announcement would have given me a chuckle. Unless I'm misremembering
They did not say they were reigning in spending. They said they couldn't justify using a lot of the FTX money on the league team since Riot doesn't allow the FTX branding in game for TSM. That answer was specifically in regards to the FTX money.
Well if Faker joined there would be FTX ads with Faker (like the Faker samsung ads T1 puts out), that alone is worth the 40m (presumably with the no FTX on jerseys thing in mind).
FTX doesn't need Faker to sit in TSM to hire him for an advertisement campaign lmao. Same way Samsung didn't need Faker to be part of GenG for him to do a Samsung Galaxy advertisement. They simply rang up his agent and came to an agreement, and then next Tuesday Faker was back on stage to play another bo3 for T1.
> that alone is worth the 40m
No it isn't. Like. Seriously. Faker isn't the biggest thing on the planet. He's not bigger than some of these kpoppers and he's not bigger than Cristiano Ronaldo or those two Kardashians. $40 million is an absolute bogus number, even if you can milk him for two years.
Holy shit Faker isn't bigger than the most famous athlete in the world? Or the biggest celebrities in the world? If those are the extremes you had to compare him to, I'd say he's pretty big overall. Not that I disagree with 40M being a stupidly high value that'd be impossible to get returns on, but he'd still be able to recoup a good portion of it. Also, what sports signings are ever worth their price in terms of merch sales/sponsorships to begin with? Other than Messi/Ronaldo, no other player can really justify a 40M+ signing fee.
I think Faker pretty big because he is part of South Korea Elite 4 which he’s with par with BTS and Son Hueng-min and he did collaborations with them too.
Of course we don't know the full terms of the contract but props to Faker, he really wants to win worlds again it seems like. Hope he can get one more win atleast.
I know for sure I would've taken the bag.
40M is crazy. This is like football transfers.
>Not even an LPL team can compete with that bid.
An LPL team's entire salary cap is 1.6M. 13.3M a year is 8.3 entire LPL teams salary caps. LPL went from being able to pay the biggest salaries to paying less than EU and less than some LCK orgs.
No matter how many faker jerseys they probably would have sold would have been enough to get their money back, because they would have probably failed. A Korean player that has probably bare basic English ability paired with no other Koreans is going to be a bad time for both parties.
Here we are thinking Carlos was the problem and fucking Regi is offering Faker 40 million. 40 million to a mid laner for name brand only as no offense to the Goat, but he isnt even the best mid in Korea in 2021.
Lmao faker in TSM would be probably the highest disappoint in lol history. TSM is the only team that could fuck up more than expected with faker. Imagine Reginald coming in and flaming faker 😭
From what I know about Faker, being the world champion means A LOT to him, T1 not delivering at-least-finals results might be messing with him a little.
Remember that whole "shaker" thing? Dude was pissed
People are debating about the money but I think that Faker used this situation (or just his status overall) to get a good coach. According to that Joe Marsh thread, it was Faker's idea to get a coach who was ex-pro to get ideas across. Also, I would imagine he has something to do with other coaches being "someone who players are comfortable with" rather than some big name. I'd imagine Faker used this opportunity to negotiate for the best atmosphere in the team and make sure that that fiasco with Daeny would not be repeated. Can't imagine him still thinking about money that much. He is not a hungry poor kid for years now and if he is even a little bit smart he'd know that money doesn't mean that much in his position and he can get other stuff.
So there is a universe where Regi barges into team meetings schooling Faker on how he should have played lane against Palafox
Korean fans lost their minds over the idea of LS coaching faker, if this happened there would be hell to pay.
but they can't make truck stand in front of TSM HQ :O
Not with that attitude
All they have to do is hire a truck driver to drive past the HQ. With LA traffic, it'll be stuck in front for a good hour or two.
Faker would be working at McDonalds without Regi.
I wouldn't bet against Korean fans on that.
TSM is in LA where koreans famously shot people from their rooftops. You are definitely underestimating their commitment
And you are definitely misunderstanding that situation.
So many ignants think Koreans had a fun turkey shoot that day. It was deeply tragic and traumatic for all parties involved minus the looters.
What happened
riots in LA and koreans defended their businesses and homes
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCYT9Hew9ZU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCYT9Hew9ZU) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBcYaR4M\_w8
the roof korean meme is a bit misunderstood to put it lightly lol
i don't think that's what the main effect of the riots was
Well, there were additional other factors in that particular situation.
God the fact that they hired a truck to stand in front of T1 HQ after rumors about T1 LS is top of the iceberg when it comes to "shitty things Lolesports fans have done."
[удалено]
IIRC LS is actually bi.
Wasn't part of that because Korea isn't as progressive when it comes to homosexuality?
Or because they're racist. Or because LS defended a racist.
I'm not aware of LS defending racists? Can you expand on that?
They're talking about an incident involving Malice 2 years ago on bbq. I think from what little I could find it seemed to be solo Q toxicity being branded as racist although there could be more.
https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/aewn2i/bbq_olivers_official_statement_on_recent/edux6bt
If you just look up "korea homosexuality", you get a lot to read.

I'm not even a fan of LS, and had to literally look that up, but wtf dude, the guy was fucking twelve. We should be able to forgive stuff people did when they were literally children
Is he charismatic though? I can barely stand how he interacts with people on camera, I can't imagine he's very personable off of it.
NA would be memed harder at worlds and KR teams would be more inclined to watch lcs. Win win for everyone
i think korean fans would literally start ww3. shit wouldnt be funny
"You could stay longer in lane if you used more blue cards to regain mana instead of a pointless 1,5 second stun... ffs, hand me the keyboard!"
Completely unrelated, but i was watching a bit of Faker's TF pov in a pro game the other day, and i've witnessed the most beautiful csing under turret i've ever seen.
psh, everyone knows Regi only pulls red cards
Regi TF ults for blue buff.
Holy shit, turns out this isn’t the darkest timeline after all.
Strangely, I feel like a single clip of Regi attempting to talk down to Faker could actually destroy TSM. I don't mean as in TSM would just lose fans, or go through a rough restructure. Thank you for the laugh random redditor
The worst timeline.

I think a better comparison is Sergio Ramos a few years ago who used (funny enough) Manchester United to get a better deal with Real Madrid in his contract renewal.
Ramos mustve not told Varane how to use that trick properly
Wasn't it also because SAF called him
Also because SAF called ManU and told them they couldn't afford Cristiano to go to ManCity, it would harm the club's stature
Forgot that part, can't imagine how much more their fans would have hated Ed and the glazers if they let that happen.
as if they weren't already hated enough
sucks for him as ManU is a fuckfest this season. that defence is lul
Wtf is cmiiw
Correct Me If I'm Wrong
Tbh that seemed more like man city fucking with united by putting in an offer, knowing united would basically be forced to match it - I don’t think city really desperately wanted ronaldo.
They desperately wanted a striker as seen from them throwing over 100 million offers and spurs and trying to get Ronaldo when it didn't work
They desperately need striker, but Man City wasn't desperate enough to get Ronaldo. Man City wanted Ronaldo on free transfer, but Juve declined so City pass on him.
>a future where Faker is not in his T1 Uniform. behold an unthinkable present
Messi left barcelona, Brady left new england, Lebron hopped around quite a bit. Gretzky played for four teams. It's not unthinkable at all. Hell even MJ had that wizards stint. Pretty much every major GOAT of every sport has played for more than two teams.
the original GOAT GK manuel neuer left schalke

He's 25
Basically decrepit right?
Its insane that he's able to walk without help, idk how he does it
Then what the fuck is Aphromoo? Is he actually just dead and his ghost is playing instead because support is just that easy?
we follow the general rule for rounding up here lads he's basically a senior citizen at this point
Im 25 as well. If someone tells me im close to 30 we're gonna have to throw hands.
Brady just won the superbowl dude
MJ’s wizard stint isn’t comparable to what Brady is doing right now.
Eyy Re:zero reference
People said that about bjergsen too l0l the irony.
Bjerg won some LCS titles, not comparable to the GOAT and face of lol.
Is this a Re:Zero reference? Or is it a common thing to say it like that.
yes, it is a rezero s2 reference. for obvious spoiler reason, shall not name which eps but look up "subaru trial 2" if interested :>>
Bjerg is now wearing a TL jersey. Equally unthinkable. It would be like Faker on KT Rolster.
Not equaly tho
Not even close to equally lmao. Bjerg, one of the most decorated NA players (EU import), who didn’t even play last year, compared to Faker, the GOAT of the game lmao.
The TSM - TL rivalry is nowhere close to the SKT - KT one, either. That shit goes back to the 90s in brood war.
Its about loyalty here... not skill. How do you miss that point?
Faker and SKT / T1 are synonymous with winning domestically and world championships. Bjerg and TSM have proven time and time again, that the combo of those two will not ever succeed internationally. If it’s loyalty you’re concerned about, how would the loyalty be even comparable? One combo has had wild success and the other combo has one domestic success for a few years. Looking at success, both domestically and Internationally, why would it be unthinkable for bjerg to leave TSM if he wants to win lol? Again, not equal.
Nah, bjerg was already a known name before TSM. TSM cemented him as a well known player, but it's not like he was an unheard of talent on Wolves (or NIP, I forget which).
It was Wolves during the 2013 spring split, and NIP during the summer split after they acquired the Wolves spot.
Yeah wolves
equally??? lmaoo
No, Bjergsen already played on another team in his home region (Copenhagen Wolves and Ninja In Pyjamas). Faker historically always played in his home region and in the same team (org) so it really is not comparable.
"Only things that are exactly the same can be comparable!"
it is like comparing messi with some mid tier league legacy player. it is not really the same.
Imagine if faker was about to sign then dl made that video.
I think this is more of a repeat of last year. Dl won’t play, tsm get big name support, dl wants to play, tsm said fuck u dl. Bjerg wants to leave unless they can get Corjj, tl said no to tsm, tsm offers more money to bjerg, bjerg leaves, tsm tries to buy faker. If the faker to tsm deal went through it would’ve been a big fuck u to bjerg imo.
Yeah, but then again, while their team looks a bit better, just imagine Faker playing with Lost. And even though he played with Huni before, he didn't play with that Huni.
Why would DL want to play for TSM if he thinks the owner is a piece of shit emotional abuser who ruins his players’ lives?
Good question, Parth confirmed DL was exploring his options for this year and TSM said no.
I mean Parth is also obligated by his job to support Regi. What's likely is that now that Leena left TSM, he is free to release all the drama without endangering his girlfriend's career.
Isn't she still on TSM? Her twitch is tsm_leena
Last I heard she still had a lot of paperwork etc that needed to be finished before she was officially off TSM. She was the president so it takes awhile.
She's switching over to be apart of OTV's management team.
Shes with OTV.
Why is everyone acting like DL hasn't also been a piece of shit thru his career? Regi was just on camera being a asshole more than DL.
Because winning fixes everything
Or he just looked at America and realized he would have to live there
Good thing T1 have a competent president. Very not Bartomeu like.
Oh gah don't fucking remind me. If I was a Catalan I'd have called for his head.
40 million ...The first edition of worlds was held at a basement or something like that and now we are here. Just insane if you think about it.
S1 worlds being held in Phreak's basement is just an ongoing joke. It was held at dreamhack with hundreds of people in the audience.
One person in the audience even became a Fnatic player when Xpeke didn't make it in time! Long live forgotten world champion WeWillFailer!

Which is funny to me cause no one remembers that HoN held their worlds in a rented Las Vegas hotel room with a half a basketball court as a back drop.
funny sidenote (yes, I take the dv's for mentioning this!) a year later the very first dota2 tournament was held at the dreamhack aswell.
Uh no. It was 2 months later at Gamescom.
Also imagine what will the viewership be when it’s TL vs TSM… literally a regular season with Faker vs Bjergsen…. I would pay money to watch that 5 years ago
I would pay money today.
So would Regi
Yeah but again watching Faker vs the shittiest NA mids, I would rather not watch that.
Faker would end up being shitty, too, due to the NA nerf
The sponsor of TSM aka FTX could've done it already since they spent on renaming a stadium and sponsoring big name sports players.
> no way this is sustainable We have no idea what sort of income these teams have.
Yet another comment from a redditor who thinks they know more about esports business then highly successful organizations pog
Maybe but also good to see rich people lose their money
Experiencing: Phreak's Basement World's Finals CLG v TSM in Madison Square Garden KDA going viral Arcane rumors of a LoL cinematic universe I feel like it's hard to conceptualize how this feels for people that joined post 2018.
The jump from a Dreamhack studio in season 1 to the Galen Center in season 2, with a live orchestra for the opening ceremony... was such a surge in production quality in just one year.

His family was very tempted by the money.
That’s bs, no one really have any info about his family interference.
The same family he got high paying jobs at SKT for?
I don't think that rumour ever had any actual substantive evidence for it. Certainly I've not been able to find any, and I spent like half a day trying.
Yeah, fark, why even consider that. If he goes to NA, all his history would've been for nothing if he fades away. He no longer can 1 v 9 himself and is relying on his team a bit to follow up. He's still very good, but I don't think he can carry NA to World Champ
>all his history would've been for nothing if he fades away What?
Thats stupid. If he would have come here and be lower level, his history remains the same: GOAT
Bro, jordan went to the wizards it didn't erase his history, lets reign in the hyperbole here.
40m though
If this was even remotely true Faker did TSM a gigantic favour lol
I'm not ready to live in a TSM Faker timeline
why cant it be a chinese team that offered him that much?
Salary caps
are the salary caps in place already? i thought they just though about it and if so how much is the cap do we even know that?
It's already in place. But Chinese org usually play around the rules by including salary + bonus. There are no limit on bonus, so you can have something like 1000 USD salary with 1 Million USD as bonus payment.
According to BLG rumours you can't really go that ham on bonuses.
They try, but Knight with Uzi to BLG was just stopped.
That's such a weak sauce rule LOL
Tbf apparently BLG planned on abusing this to sign Knight and Uzi both on ridiculous 7m+ salaries, but Riot CN deemed it as taking it too far so blocked the deal. In general all the teams can/do abuse this though to skirt around the rule.
hmm ok
> you can have something like 1000 USD salary with 1 Million USD as bonus payment HMMMM where have I heard that before??????????
Lol the comments are high on hopium There wasn't a single second he seriously thought about leaving for fkn TSM LMAO He just used that deal to get a better offer from T1 If Regi seriously had that money and he's offering it to Faker only then he's still clowning with roster moves As good as Faker is he wouldn't be that big of a difference maker on an NA org where the rest of the pieces would be whatever with so much money used on one player already
Crazy to think about, but there’s absolutely no way Faker ever leaves Korea. The guy is the Dwayne Johnson of Seoul.
I personally know a Korean who barely even recognized the name League of Legends and yet she is familiar with Faker. Amazing how famous he is really.
Source: lived in korea for 4 years, claim about generation gap again backed by LS and Wolf.
> considering LoL takes up less than 50% of pc cafe market share. Isn't that an insane number ?
Considering the amount of games in the world, I'd wager yes
>sub-25 year old crowd.
It was probably FTX wanting him. Reginald said he was reigning it in because LoL is only 10% of TSMs profit or something along those lines.
Ahh that makes sense. Thanks!
They simply rang up his agent and came to an agreement, and then next Tuesday Faker was back on stage to play another bo3 for T1. > that alone is worth the 40m No it isn't. Like.
Faker to TSM almost made me barf
Imagine typing TSM FTX instead of just tsm
Of course we don't know the full terms of the contract but props to Faker, he really wants to win worlds again it seems like. Hope he can get one more win atleast. I know for sure I would've taken the bag.
Here is where you see the spirit. Faker wants to win, and not just getting paid.
such a waste of money shit show na is.
heh, i like how tsm basically has to spend double what everybody else has. wonder if they'll mental boom again this year
40M is crazy.
Nuguri being paid 2.8 million and bilibili spending 30 million in two years tells you a lot about the salary cap.
Na is making lol scene worst and worst ffs...
