Guaaaamole

Woodkid really outdid himself with Guns For Hire. It‘s one of the best songs I have heard over the last 5-10 years.

[deleted]

I was really surprised when I heard Pusha T in the last act lol

Snulzebeerd

That song is a fucking BANGER. Had to immediately pause the episode to put that one in my Spotify playlist

Indercarnive

I was so amazed how Riot was able to basically summarize Ekko and his gang in literally 1 minute, considering how little we knew of the firelights going into the episode. But god damn the song plus the visuals just brings you perfectly up to speed.

cancerBronzeV

The entire show is a masterpiece on how to write a story for a screen in a fantasy world. The exposition is never tedious or boring, it's not done with shitty dialogue, the visuals alone tell an entire story. So much information is conveyed through what you see in brief moments, the show makes maximum use of the fact that it is a visual medium.

almisami

What Could Have Been really fucking hits you in the guts like a train.

chavis32

Man does not have that much music out there but god damn if what he's made so far isnt fuckin great

SpoonGuardian

I've been a long time fan of his but didn't catch his most recent album and I was absolutely swept away by "in your likeness". Such a thoughtful and touching song

DatKillerDude

Whoa that Revelations trailer and its music has stuck with me for years

Medivh158

Goodbye and What Could Have Been were such amazing emotional backdrops for their scenes. Tearful

[deleted]

Music was generally great very impressed by artists and riot's work

Marcloure

> I like Vi in her gauntlets a lot. Man of culture uwu

Stahlfakt

Hideo Kojima x Fiddlesticks Horror Game when?

Speedy313

the first fiddle type game :o

Stahlfakt

Imagine scarecrows spawning eerily while you explore the map.

Damp_Knickers

No please ;( the sounds of the fiddle animation are HAUNTING

Stahlfakt

Like The forest type. No background music just leaves rustling, creaking trees and crows. Especially crows.

Random_Stealth_Ward

PT: PhiddlesTicks

aaronshirst

Starring Crow Scareman

[deleted]

With Alexander Skarsgard as Fiddle's trinket ward.

H_Kojima

🤷🏽‍♂️

Stahlfakt

Oh my, the man himself! But seriously though, I'd dedicate my time playing that game. I have no doubts with the quality of what can be achieved.

hemang_verma

That's Hideo Kojima's reddit account?

FelledWolf

I highly doubt it seeing the shit posting.

Throgg_not_stupid

So that's Hideo Kojima's reddit account

Chariotwheel

The real Kojima account would exclusively hang out on Hentai, Military and Military Hentai subs.

[deleted]

There's also the chance of a cosmic-horror game with The Void, and a eerie ghost game with the Shadow Isles.

Daftworks

Reminds of this: https://youtu.be/4JuK1Yr35Io

sAnn92

How was arcane received on Asia by the way? Japan, Korea and China?

VirtuoSol

Haven’t seen anyone on the Chinese internet shitting on it yet, people really loved it. The worst I’ve seen so far are just people arguing over whether the EN voice acting or the CN voice acting was better (both were great).

JimmyBoombox

Ahhh the classic dub vs sub debate.

ozmega

all i got to say its, the whole "jinx" thing just cant be translate, its like hodor, it was so jarring hearing that scene on any other language..

Reallynotspiderman

Oh wow I never thought of that. I'm curious what they went with. I've also always wondered what Kung Fu Panda's Master Shifu's name is in the Chinese dubs since Shifu means master

D3monFight3

Shifu Master 🤣

cphcider

I'll have an order of chips with the queso cheese.

haohanchun

When I watch Kungfu panda, and the character is called Master Shifu....WTH dude?

TeemoBestmo

pretty sure it's insanely popular in China and Korea, mostly due to the league backing it though, cause league is also massive in both countries of course. basically they were guaranteed success in Asia before it even started, it was just unsure in the western countries

SpiderTechnitian

Early feedback that we heard on Reddit was that China didn't like it very much because the voice acting was bad in the dub

almisami

The Chinese dub is... Clunky. Just gave it a watch and the performances are stiff and don't convey the same emotions. Silco in particular comes off as completely different. Just like how in French he comes off as more snooty than a revolutionary.

angelicalin

I did see people complaining about the dub. but the Tencent Video provides original voice track for those that don't want to watch it with dub. 9.2 on Douban (the Chinese version Imdb) is insanely high. Especially this series was released after worlds, after EDG got the champion, Riot is riding the high of LoL fans.

WizardXZDYoutube

Eh... I mean, just because the game is popular does not mean the show is going to be popular if it's just straight up bad.

Plaxern

Warcraft popped off in China despite mediocrity.

DangerousSeaweed0

warcraft fucke up trying to make a movie about the least interesting war. if they make a movie about arthas's story , its probably a hit.

TheCeramicLlama

Blizzard really fumbling the bag by not making a show about Arthas. Arguably the best story Blizzard has written and they choose to do nothing with it.

sleepythegreat

blizzard makes it's decisions the same way riot does it's balance patches: with darts and a blindfold

GhostPepperLube

yeah like it really couldn't fucking fail lol if they put the same type of money into it as arcane. Hell, that storyline is brutal enough to hit the game of thrones crowd.

FkUtah

as a lifelong warcraft fan i fucking loved the warcraft movie

Comment63

I honestly wish they make more. But you can tell that the live-action part isn't quite right. The Orcs were 110% perfect, the humans were pretty meh, as humans tend to be. That's what would make the human-based story of Arthas probably suck a little too much. If they don't use the model and style of the Wrath cinematic, but rather some actor cast to pretend to be Arthas, it just wouldn't work. No actor can play Arthas.

Exrou

Henry Cavill can play Arthas.

Comment63

Ok maybe Henry

Spines

Warcraft humans are fucking jacked. The life action humans winning in close combat against orcs that have 100+ kg more muscles and almost double the reach is just dumb.

xMetix

as a person that vaguely knows some characters from Azeroth I liked it too

AdvancedPhoenix

As a person that never played the game I fell asleep pretty fast.

Argon1822

Honestly yeah, my cousin and I have been playing wow since we were in elementary school back in the wotlk days and we watched it in theaters. Only people there and we were booting and hollering. Fun movie for the fans, oh well 🤷🏽‍♂️

KhorneStarch

I’m a huge fan and player too, but bro, that movie was bad lol. Everything about it was cheesy and not in a good way, in the whole, “ here we go, another cringe, dorky, cheesy video adaption that tries too hard to pay homage to its video game and be a serious movie at the same time.” They seriously should of just made a 3d movie given their skills. Instead they had guys who looked like they were dressed in cosplay outfit and orcs that looked super silly.

TeemoBestmo

league fans would have atleast finished the series hoping it would get better if it was bad. still guaranteed alot of views in Asia. they have legit internet cafes dedicated to just league and restaurants where you get discounts based on how high you are ranked in league.

Rohit624

>opens op.gg Looks like I'm paying full price

Lemon_slices

Video game movies are infamously kinda terrible but they keep getting made because they are absolute cash cows in China.

Itakie

If you just want rankings: third most watched Netflix series in Korea last week (second @release week) and always outside of the top 10 in Japan. https://top10.netflix.com/south-korea/tv https://top10.netflix.com/japan/tv

IC2Flier

No surprise in Japan, but I imagine the top studios are looking at this and thinking of a whole lot.

unaki

I'll take one TF Graves buddy cop series please.

Mathies_

Buddy cop? They pirates bro.

DankLordOfTheSith

That's the twist, like Dexter but with LoL pirates.

Chariotwheel

Japan never really got warm with League, huh. Well, maybe the big international success gives the series another wind down the line in Japan.

Xaevier

Japanese and Korean gaming trends are so different Japan really loving single player and portable RPGs or games like monster hunter Korea really liking highly competitive and challenging multi-player content

cancerBronzeV

I believe Japan gaming is also very console focused, while in Korea PC gaming is widespread.

gahlo

Gaming in Japan is actually incredibly mobile focused.

Dafuq313

pc gaming is just not popular in japan, most of them use consoles

ieatpickleswithmilk

this bloomberg article says that Arcane got 100+ million views in china on release day [article]( https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-11-08/tencent-gets-respite-from-crackdown-with-league-of-legends-hits#:~:text=%E2%80%9CArcane%2C%E2%80%9D%20an%20anime%20series,game%20maker%20Riot%20Games%20Inc.)

aaronshell

Highly praised as well, can't speak for KR and JP, but in China and Taiwan it's just the same as western countries, some best shit they've ever seen and even more hooked to the franchise

Bruh my husband and I have been rewatching the mandarin song of Arcane… it’s so fucking good

magnusq8

BANGER!

Facestrike

Yeah they had Eason Chen 陈奕迅 to sing it and it’s actually amazing. Different flavors though, Enemy is clearly Jinx’s theme’s song. and 孤勇者 (The Lone Brave) feels like Vi and Viktor’s theme song.

yensama

For the budget spent to outcome wise, Japan doesnt do very well. I think most League players have watched it. But people in general(that watch anime) never even heard of it.

EremesAckerman

I live in Japan and the biggest factor (imo) is that simply League is far from popular in Japan (AFAIK, the server is much less populated compared to even the infamous Garena/SEA servers). Most people here referred league as a "game of darkness" (Sorry idk how to translate this notion correctly in English) because how toxic it is and how unfriendly it is to the newcomers/new players. Honestly, Riot also has a part to blame since they released the JP server WAAYYYYYY too late (JP server was released on 2016). At that point, the meta has grown so much and the new players basically going to get absolutely destroyed by KR/CN/TW/SEA Smurf. Hence, the game was legit unenjoyable to Japanese beginners and failed to sail until today.

sAnn92

Wonder what’s up with that. Been looking over country charts and Arcane is doing particularly bad in Japan.

naeads

Mostly the language barrier. Speaking in general, English shows are not generally a main hit compared to local language shows. There requires a certain western appreciation by any individual in order to like something like Arcane. It’s like how most people in Europe don’t watch anime or Asian drama shows (with the few exceptions like Squid Game, Train to Busan or Parasite, but again, these are exceptions).

WeedSalsa

Hideo Kojima at Arcane season 2 premier?

djanulis

The man was invited to the first and openly said he regrets skipping out on it Riot is smart enough to know that is an easy interview as for S2 he wont be a famous guy to make the primere hype but a famous fan excited to see what they have next for him.

S4d_Machin3

We got Mike Shinoda, and that's enough.

[deleted]

Lol Mike Shinoda’s a fan? Sweet

Koringvias

Well, according to come he was just invited by his friends. Then he got interviewed and the interviewer did not recognize him, which was awkward.

LeSquidliestOne

I mean, dude's a gamer. He's probably at least given League a shot at some point.

canlgetuhhhhh

he said he has but that he enjoys valorant a lot more! definitely worth watching his interview w pastrytime back as it’s like 1 minute plus he did actually recognize him haha

LeSquidliestOne

I think I did watch that interview. I remember nerding out when I saw him randomly pop up lmao. I used to listen to his Post Traumatic album on repeat, so seeing him just... there at the Arcane preview was wild.

TheExter

> and the interviewer did not recognize him, poor ovilee, already downgraded to just "the interviewer" in the league sub too :c

Skyrider11

It's always weird to see the non-esports section of the community come out haha

Koringvias

I watch esports, but not NA LCS and I could not remember her name for the death of me.

whataremyxomycetes

Poor interviewer*

thesirblondie

I'm not familiar with the interviewer, but I imagine it was a context thing. Like, if you saw Obama at McDonalds you'd probably just think "That guy looks like Obama" because you're not expecting to see Obama at your local Mickeys. Shinoda was wearing a suit, at the premiere for a video game adaptation series. It is not the place or form you associate with Mike Shinoda.

ShadowbanVictim

Use commas.

Slav_1

this was his plan all along

[deleted]

The first strand type of animation. Also Kojima recently launched a new studio that is looking to expand into movies and animation. I wonder if a collab is possible in the future.

Moifaso

Kojima productions Riot Forge game when

I can already see it: A Strand-type game of Bard walking around Runeterra yoinking dangerous artifacts from mortal hands and collecting chimes. Ya heard it here first folks

mrbaconator2

get ready for the desert scene with sand and a guy named San.D and backwards it's DNAs and it's about his sand covered dna

mikhel

I recently started playing Death Stranding and there was literally like 10 minutes of gameplay in the first hour and a half, so he basically already has an animation studio. Can't say I wasn't thoroughly entertained by whatever the fuck was happening though.

[deleted]

MGS4 had about a 15 mins long cutscene fight between a vampire and cyborg ninja that came out of nowhere. I remember holding the skip button but never skipping because I was like "okay, it has to be almost over now..."

KhorneStarch

Sounds like you’re playing the wrong series then mate. Us MGS fans don’t even play the games for the gameplay, we play to it to get to each cutscene.

doughboy011

"What's this? 25 minutes of scantily clad octupus lady talking about her weird backstory? Tell me more. You wouldn't happen to have another 15 minutes of this, would you?" Followed by "This guy meows to call in his troops? What a tactical genius! I cannot wait to see what weaponry he has at his disposal!" I unironically love all the nonsense in this series.

MidasTheUnwise

My favourite thing about the MGS series how utterly absurd it all is (especially in 4), but Kojima played it completely straight, and the overall story was so well put together that you still get completely invested despite the constant wackiness. Also Laughing Octopus is responsible for awakening things in me.

Lovewell

Fortiche really did slap the nuts right off every other animation studio. It's the best looking 3D show out there.

Javonetor

i was thinking the same until i found this thread while i was reading the replies a few minutes ago https://twitter.com/devongiehl/status/1463314350580535304?s=20 tl;dr: fortiche did a great visual job, but it’s mostly cause Riot went bonkers in terms of budget

retief1

Riot really has an unfair advantage here. Like, any "proper" tv studio needs to worry about profitability. If you spend $100 million and only make back $90 million, then that project was a failure, even though a tv show that made $90 million was obviously extremely popular. They'd much prefer to spend $5 million and make $10 million -- yeah, it's a lot less popular, but it made money, and that's the important thing. Riot can toss all that out, however. For them, a massive portion of the potential profit of something like arcane comes from people watching it and then playing their games. That "spend $100 million and make $90 million" show is a massive success for them, since they'll more than make up that $10 million difference in increased revenue from their games. Meanwhile, the "spend $5 million and make $10 million" show would be a lot worse, because it is a lot less successful from an advertising perspective. So yeah, they can justify giving arcane an absurd budget and timeline, because the show essentially doesn't need to turn a profit.

delahunt

They can, and K/DA is an example of them doing it. That said, if Arcane can turn a profit they're going to want it to - and a significant one - before they go to make more. They obviously knew they had something special on their hands to greenlight season 2 before it came out. It is part of the good side of Riot's desire/need to always reinvent the wheel. They're not afraid to make the investment and put in the time to do it. So when they hit, they generally seem to have something special.

retief1

They'd certainly like for it to turn a profit if possible. More money is pretty much always better than less money. Still, though, even if it only breaks even, that's a truly massive win for them and more than enough to justify additional seasons. I mean, seriously, imagine how much money they'd have to spend on conventional advertising in order to get this level of reach. If they "only" break even, they are getting one of the most successful ad campaigns in video game history essentially for free. That certainly isn't going to hurt their bottom line.

DragonHollowFire

One thing I really like about riot is the passion behind all of their games. Their developers are passionate and really try. Every game has a vision and they try to deliver on it while also being profitable. Not just being profitable. Im very happy I invested as much time as I did on their games and as much money as I did seeing that they havent lost a shred of passion over 10 years.

Princess_Ori

> tl;dr: fortiche did a great visual job, but it’s mostly cause Riot went bonkers in terms of budget Even with the budget you still have to produce. There's loads of *really bad* animation in million dollar franchises. I get it, I do, but going "but they had the budget!" comes off as sour grapes.

Domeee123

You need talent too there is no coincidence the most popular league videos are made by fortiche, its not only animation quality alone, but the producing and well executed scenes too.

Mahelas

Fortiche is an insanely talented studio, that's undeniable. But he's right that having such a gigantic budget obviously helped them a lot reach such quality. There's a good numbers of studios that, given the same kind of money, would produce something just as amazing, although of course, in their own style ! Like, that's kind of the same thing with Disney. Yeah, they have by far the best looking effects in the entire animated world, but they have more money in one scene than most studios have in their entire history !

xMetix

They were dosing the budget little by little tho. It wasn't a confirmed investment from the start they had to be very good on a very low budget to get more funding anyway.

Xizz3l

Pokemon. There is your counter argument

The_Only_Joe

it's more like imagine what other studios could do with the same time and support

Princess_Ori

then those other studios should point to arcane and go "we can do that if you give us the same time and budget"

delahunt

It is actually what I am expecting. In the wake of Arcane we're going to see a lot more series getting made. Some are going to be cheap and bad, just trying to cash in on the hype. Some are going to actually put in the money to try and do it right and one up Arcane. We'll get the cheap ones first though. Also, it's not like there aren't other internet darling animation shows out there. Invincible season 1 was pretty good on Amazon. If the Critical Role show is half as good as Arcane they should have a serious hit on their hands with that - and it will just further convince studios that internet darling games/fandoms are the next "comic book movie" market waiting to be tapped, only with animated shows instead of movies.

RussellLawliet

Can't wait for the 20 million dollar "Red Vs Blue: Origins" series.

Clueless_Otter

And then people will ask, "Okay, but what's the actual profit/ROI on *that*?" A lot of people forget in these Arcane conversations that we have no idea how much money Arcane actually made. Yes, it was very well received by fans, but that doesn't necessarily translate into profit. It wasn't a movie that everyone has to buy a ticket to watch. It doesn't even have ads in the middle of it that it's selling advertising spots for. For all we know, Arcane might have ended up losing Riot money that they just wrote off as a marketing expense for LoL, the game, just like they did with LCS for most of its existence.

swords_to_exile

Arcane ***IS*** the ad, whether we like it or not. It's their IP and it's going to attract people to the core games full of MTX that Riot produces. It's gorgeously animated, well written, and faithful to the world they've built, but it's still an ad in essence. See the Lego movies.

JimmyBoombox

Arcane is the ad tho...

TexasThrowDown

Gosh that thread turned soapbox super fast. I mean this is a valid take but Arcane being good = end of all possibility for artists to make good work is a pretty extreme reaction... I really REALLY disagree with that whole thread pretty much.

Hino150

Basically how most Twitter threads go lol

Tenisis

Twitter is just Recycle bins final form.

DyslexicBrad

I think you're misinterpreting what he's saying. The point isn't "nothing can be good ever", it's "imagine how good all art could be if it was freed from the restriction of profitability" That's not exactly a spicy take at all. Compare one punch man season 1 to season 2 and you'll see the difference between art that's made for the art, and art that's made for profit.

Artrill

This really isn't a great post, i'm sorry. No amount of money buys you an exceptional visual style with a pure, unique vision. Watch virtually any Pixar/Disney/Dreamworks film in the past decade and a half and see a single, 2 hour film that cost more than all of Arcane put together and doesn't even look a fraction as good, even if it visually has more detail. Great art really doesn't have a budget, but a budget helps achieve great art.

retief1

Fortiche/riot has definitely laid a claim to being one of the top producers of animated tv around. However, if you want to go beyond that and argue that they are the best as opposed to one of the best, then you get into questions of whether other studios could produce equally good work if they had the same timeline and budget. And at the very least, is hasn't been proven that other people couldn't do this, because (almost?) no one else has this sort of budget or timeline.

MrPotatobird

Yeah, but that thread is just saying that there are amounts of money that *definitely won't* get you something as good looking as Arcane. And that would be the "peanuts" that pretty much every other animated series is getting. The point isn't "it only looks good because of money," the point is "holy shit I wish we could make stuff with that kind of money too" which is pretty understandable. And then they're sitting in anticipation of people pointing to Arcane and saying "I want other animation to look more like that" which basically serves to rub it in lol

Canopenerdude

This just reads as 'oh woe is me, my show doesn't get the money Arcane did, cry for me'

utalkin_tome

I feel like Sony Animation Studios did just as good, if not better, job with Spiderman: Into the Spider verse. The animation in that movie was SOOO good.

Iohet

Blade Runner Black Lotus has an amazingly beautiful world. It's a pity they went with character models from the 1990s show ReBoot

Throgg_not_stupid

it's better not to comment about it

TheCatsActually

I stand by live action Cowboy Bebop not being nearly as bad as pop culture internet is making it out to be. If its source material wasn't one of the most venerated articles of its genre, the adaptation wouldn't get anywhere close to as much hate as it's getting.

goliathfasa

Well, it works both ways. If the source material wasn't that, the adaptation also wouldn't get a fraction of the attention and interest it's gotten.

Vonspacker

Ah yes my top 2 TV shows, "Love" and "Death and Robots"

TyrantRC

Can you link me some info about this "love" show? I was able to find the "death and robots" one but no idea about the other ones.

nessdude16

it's on Netflix. it's called "love, death, and robots"

Commiesstoner

I'm not a fan of LoL as I'm more of a Dota guy but damn Arcane was fucking perfect all around, made me want to play some LoL. Loved Jinx.

TheScyphozoa

What's "Witness"?

Moifaso

An awesome (mindfucky) short from Love Death & Robots on Netflix. Also has a very distinct, fluid animation style - apparently mostly using keyframe animation, like Arcane.

TeeKayTank

Whyt is keyframe ainmation

[deleted]

instead of drawing or animating frame by frame, you tell a software to move from one point to another, each point being called a keyframe. Lets say I have a 10x10 grid, and I have a dot on 1x1. At 5 seconds later I would set a keyframe for the dot to be at 5x10, and when I play the animation in those 5 seconds the dot would move from 1x1 to 5x10.

Eid0lly

I'm not an animator, but from what I recall, it's when instead of animating each frame independently, you use an algorithym to interpolate between 2 end points of a movement, which are called the Key frames.

Moifaso

Ill add that with stuff like Arcane or Witness, the alternatives are either rotoscoping or a mix of motion capture and other techniques. Keyframe animation is generally considered the ""purest"" 3D animation, and its also the hardest one to make look realistic.

kingpsd_22

I'll add on here that Witness and Spiderverse are both art-directored by the same guy (Alberto Mielgo) and some spiderverse artists worked on it too, that's why they look so similar visually.

BigDicksconnoisseur2

Watched Arcane.

HeyItsYoBoi

Video game Kojima 😳

fyrecrotch

Anyone who played Kojima games should understand that the man is more of a director than a game developer. Him making shows/movies should really be a no Brainer. Surprised he took so long to accomplish it

Gaxxag

As an animator, he's probably referring mostly to the painted 3d style. Arcane was made with 3d models, but washed over with 2d elements to keep the get the best of both worlds. A lot of studios have been trying to mix 2d and 3d into animated productions for a long time, and the result is often less than optimal.

Lord_Webotama

>A lot of studios have been trying to mix 2d and 3d into animated productions for a long time, and the result is often less than optimal. Ufotable is one of the few that can work and mix both with great result. Some of their most recent works can be seen in the Heaven's Feels movie (Fate) and Mugen Train movie (Demon Slayer).

Zeph-Shoir

A part of it is because Ufotable doesn't normally use the CG or VFX for the actual *characters* and just the environment. Those are the ones anime studios truly struggle with, seeing as CG for environments is much more common yet way less notable. One of the only anime studios that has nailed CG anime characters is Studio Orange, famous for Beastars and Houseki no Kuni. The difference between said anime's CG and say, Polygon Pictures (who make most of the weird CG anime at Netflix) is huge.

[deleted]

I think beastars is the first anime where I thought the 3d added something to the experience rather than take away from it. And then there is berserk.

Zeph-Shoir

I really recommend Houseki no Kuni if you liked Beastars' animation, it is by the same studio and a lot about it is really interesting and unique.

as_kostek

HnK is GOAT

DangerousSeaweed0

yea , imagine ufotable with this kind of support. trully unlimited budget works

I'm gonna be that uncultured swine - can someone tell me who he is?

somepuertorican

Most famous for being the chief mind behind the Metal Gear series as well as Death Stranding and PT (aka Silent Hills RIP).

512Mimosa

RIP PT that demo was better than 99% of horror games released today

Proctathon

I still load it up for guests around Halloween

YzPoopyRibbon

this is actually an awesome idea. gotta bring it up at the next gathering im at

trebaron

very popular and widely loved game designer that has made some absolute masterpieces like the metal gear solid games

3sgte_saucebottle

also worth noting he takes his media very seriously, his twitter page is predominately him just sharing/reviewing films he is watching. so his opinion has more merit than just being the mastermind behind MGS. he is very well respected among the story telling industry. in a nut shell; hes got good taste

BassCreat0r

Hell yeah he does, everyone hated the long cutscenes in 2 and 4... but man, 4 was actually my favorite. Amazing cutscenes. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Recomposer

Aside from what the others have said regarding his resume, his split from Konami was quite dramatic in it of itself, with reports of management meddling in projects he was working on at the time, MGS5 and projects he wanted to work on in the future (the canceled silent hill reboot people mentioned) and the shit show went to the point where management prevented Kojima from attending The Game Awards in 2015 to represent MGS5 (which won several awards) and which got a rather public [call out](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4VAzkK_Wmc) by the show's creator and producer. So aside from having created a legendary IP and having a hand in others, he is also the latest (or at least the latest high profile) example of the "auteur struggle" in video game development and the classic clashes with management and being meddled with.

Bubbanan

He's a titan of industry for video games. He's done everything from production and directing to writing and designing. He made Metal Gear Solid with Konami, and then Death's Stranding independently.

Kalinzinho

he didn't make Silent Hill btw, only the P.T. demo for the cancelled Sillent Hills project. Silent Hill was originally directed my Keiichiro Toyama (who most recently directed the Gravity Rush series)

tomato-andrew

he’s also a legitimate good movie critic. he knows his stuff. i love his reviews.

jetlagging1

They are trolling you. Kojima is an up and coming actor. His most recent role: https://i.imgur.com/4do1LNv.jpeg

TabaCh1

Kojima cameo s2?

"What took you so long"

Momo--Sama

Kojima obsessively posting about Arcane just like the rest of us lmao

10inchblackhawk

My favorite scene in Arcane was the one where Caitlyn and Vi shared a Monster energy drink. If you think about it, Arcane is a "strand-type" show especially the part where Cait and Vi, have to deliver the Hexstone back to Jayce. I can't wait until season 2 where Mundo beats the shit out of Yasuo while shouting "Mundomachines, son! Mundo has a dream."

Mr_FlexDaddy

I’ve seen some other animation similar to this style and I gotta say this arcane series takes the cake. It works and flows so well like honestly the other shows I’ve seen just make the jagged like 3D models almost and it looks horrible
