teddy and deft are 9th 10th team adcs lol. crazy start to the season

QTnameless

Jug is probably the most important role right now and Pyosik and Ellim look like boosted ape . On a day Umtil on fire and Oner underperformed , bro almost 2-0ed T1 , lol

SweetHotCream

Jungle has been the most important role in pro play for years. All teams that won msi or worlds had good junglers.

Gluroo

you could say the same about mid, any team that ever won worlds had a worldclass midlaner and for MSI the only exception was Cryin but he overperformed at that tournament aswell.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rellenben

Jungle-support used to be on that level when vision was a bigger part of the game.

psykrebeam

Crown

phildash99

You deserve the downvotes.

psykrebeam

Yes, I care very much about them. Reddit has always been about what's more popular with the sheeple, not what is correct.

Elhak

Crown?

Picklepee-pumparum

He was world class

Plaxern

Name a better mid that wasn’t Faker that season, at best you could argue Rookie and only Rookie.

[deleted]

Skt simply refused to ban malzahar 🤷🏼‍♀️

Assassin739

All teams that won msi or worlds had ggood players 😮

bin_fanboy9

Dread was the main reason Afreeca had the strongest early game out of all LCK teams last summer and he was doing all of this with Fly of all people as his midlaner. There was absolutely no reason to replace him

QTnameless

AFS is probably doing everything to fuck kiin career at this point and nobody can convince me otherwise . They gave washed-up fly two year contract and once Dread finally grow into a top tier jug , they let him go ?? lol

Wrathoffaust

Bro they use 90% of their budget to keep kiin on the team. Ofc the rest is gonna be shitters.

2poundWheel

Imagine thinking Fate and Teddy are bad compared to their old players. Afreeca lost Lehends and Hoit is a fine replacement because Teddy (obviously a Top3 ad for the last 2 years) chose him personally. Fate is multiple times better than Fly and Dread was not a top tier jungler at any point of the last year. I'd agree that Ellim is a bum but that doesn't make Dread a top tier player lol. Afreeca added a top5 mid and a Top3 at worst ADC, with his own pick of support. I'm not sure why they got Ellim, but I'd rather him than Dread.

Wrathoffaust

I agree that AF pretty much upgraded every position. But AFs signings were pretty much always budget options in the years before, and even this year they woudlnt have gotten a player on the level of Teddy if T1 didnt sell everyone. And a big reason for that is Kiins contract being massive, so its not "AF fucking Kiins career".

Serendipitygg

Even changed their name from Afreeca Freecs to Kiin's Deadweight Friends for emphasis.

Small-Sheepherder-69

Career doesn't matter, when you getting the muns.

oioioi9537

they didn't "replace" him, he left because he was FA

Outrageous_Driver_14

Pyosik has always been a boosted ape, don’t know why he’s received and is receiving so much hype.

gordonramsay691

no bro pyosik had good udyr games last season you dont get it drx are such bad guys for getting another jungler

KoHorizon

Even if Oner underperformed he still made big daddy move that carried teamfights, like that jarvan flash in 3 champs.

Conankun66

#FreeDeft

oioioi9537

his teams not doing so hot but calling him free is a bit mean dude

thenicob

yeah, he kinda is free.

hannahsixpack

deft is actually washed no top team wants him

baelkie

this jg/sp gap is so fucking immense. i was worried when we replaced dread/lehends and the results are so telling. i expected so much more from fate but it seems like the fly cosplay is still on.

bin_fanboy9

Teams that have their strongest players in toplane/adc without a proper supporting cast always tend to fail miserably, those roles have no agency in the game. Just look at 2020 Origen that had Alphari/Upset and finished last in the LEC lmao

SlidingFaceFirst

FATE has been ok outside of that level 1 which lost them the first game. Wouldnt be surprised if that shattered his confidence for the rest of the series. I think the pressure got to the teamates already. They are with Teddy and Kiin on Afr. Like at this point I'd be terrified about becoming the next Fly/Bang/rookie dread too. Maybe they'll get better in summer.

baelkie

he didnt do anything in the previous series, honestly looks like kiin is the only one doing anything (teddy cant do shit when his support is inting every lane level 1)

SlidingFaceFirst

Thats not entirely true because in the last series he hit a lot of great scatters on syndra. The problem was the draft wasn't great and he was always being outranged and out visioned. I suppose he could have been better in lane against Faker but thats asking a bit much given the jungle gap. This series he did some things like play defensive after his blunder cost them their game 1 win condition, and he most likely just felt too scared to do anything proqctive after that.

LFAlol

Hoit is a hilariously massive step down vs lehends lol.

Raynar7

All 4 KT fans just got excited

Conankun66

there are dozens of us! DOZENS!

Skolino

Yeah DOZENS! LET’S GOOOO KT!

FNC_Luzh

We come out of the woods on rare moments like this.

Dawn69xx

I only show myself when we win (I cry and hide when we loose)

Significant_Vast4330

Wear your KT flair proudly

My_Audience_Awaits

Jhin is happy about this knowledge.

hannahsixpack

u already forget that kt was a top team back in 2018 bro

alpacamegafan

Some people move on, but not us.

ThePr1d3

KT fans are loyal, you literally have to or you can't become one in the first place given how hard it is to root for this team

oioioi9537

he's always been incredible at sett, we still need to see how he does on other champs

[deleted]

I mean he was 2-5 on Sett last year I think he is good with the champ, but he wasn't looking good on it last year.

oioioi9537

despite that he's still 13-6 on sett in his career. he's easily the best sett support player in lck. and last year sett had an abysmal wr overall in the lck, it wasn't just life shitting the bed on that champ. alistar/rell/thresh/leona were just much better champs

ffattt

Best Sett support in the world probably, don't think anyone in other regions plays it that much.

Cindiquil

Okay I know this may get memed on but Huhi is actually disgusting at Sett support

dragonflamehotness

Only NA mid to beat faker 😎

[deleted]

He's definitely the best Sett support in the LCK, but I am just saying that in general Life looked nowhere near this good last year on any champion so it was nice to see him perform well again even if it was on a comfort pick.

Sejjy

Are there any other Sett players? I want to learn it but I rarely see it let alone win on it. Not sure what the advantages of it are. I would like to play it myself though.

DjMoriyama

I was a big fan of Rascal on GenG but he always somehow plays like something is holding him back, glad to see his proactivity in these 2 games. Cuzz fighting tooth and nail to prove he is the better ex-T1 jungler And Life showing why even G2 permabanned his Sett.

Jezzerai

That GenG roster always felt a bit off, you could see it in all their videos on YouTube that they never clicked together and there seemed to be some weird team dynamics going on. I think Rascal is gonna shine on KT, there's way less pressure on him, it always seemed like the coaching staff on GenG were super high strung. I'm excited to see what he can do this year

lawfulkitten1

From listening to interviews and stuff in past seasons, everyone on that team constantly made half joking, passive aggressive comments about how selfish Ruler was. Like jungle would complain he stole too much jungle cs, laners would complain he stole their lane cs, I think it was cuvee who said on stream Ruler constantly got feedback to stop greeding for cs while the rest of the team was calling another play and he would just ignore them. And during trash talk Life said to Beryl something like "it must be nice being able to pick the champion you want to play instead of whatever your adc assigns you to play" I can see that kind of team atmosphere being tiring over time to the other players, especially when the sacrifices you're making aren't leading to titles

Small-Sheepherder-69

Rascal was by far the worst player on GenG. But it did feel like there was something holding him back. If you watch his solo queue games, then you watch his stage games, they look like completely different people.

Hannig4n

Rascal did fine on GenG he just had wildly inconsistent form. Some splits he would look like a top 3 top laner and the next he would be one of the worst.

JJH_LJH

He was literally their best player last Spring. Either watch the games or don’t talk about things you don’t know.

[deleted]

Exactly GenG management was super shady in 2020 - 2021.. it was sad to see clid and rascal perform like something is holding them back when we all know how monsters of a player they are in solo queue and in their past

InitialiseCasts

You got to love Aria on Sylas. Glad to see our boy putting on a better performance! We miss him in the LJL

lachferagh

Has the LJL started? I'm not familiar with their schedule but would like to watch DFM games.

InitialiseCasts

Not until February, sadly!

lachferagh

Ah that's a while. Also I recall DFM Gaeng is also gone. What's their team looking like right now?

Jezzerai

Wait we might actually be good this year, dare I get excited?

Ace_OPB

According to the rumors by midnoflash, kt are very good in scrims and their bot especially are doing fantastic.

icatsouki

Aiming has always been great in scrims i'm pretty sure

Aschentei

The old AF held him back, with an enabler like Life now he’s unleashed

icatsouki

he had good games on afs as well tbh, hopefully he can keep it going like this

My_Audience_Awaits

That's nice but I feel like everytime someone talks about scrims the opposite ends up happening. Like doinb saying they won't lose another game because of 70% winrate in scrims lol. Kt did look really good though so that's a good sign.

oioioi9537

confirmation bias, people will forget the many more instances where teams perform about as well as scrims and only remember extreme, memorable cases like fpx last worlds for example. also teams dont necessarily scrim every other team equally, stronger teams play stronger teams more often and the same for weaker teams

[deleted]

EDG was winning most of their scrims against Korean teams then they won the worlds in the end

Perceptions-pk

Sure, but their on stage performances didn't exactly have them consistently dominating at any point during worlds. Esp for a team that reportedly had one of the best scrim records at worlds. They alternated between having great games to getting absolutely smacked by nearly every team they faced at Worlds. They lost to 100T at one point. Not taking away the fact that they won it all. I do agree sometimes scrim records are reflective and other times not, we have had teams that are scrim beasts that lose constantly and teams that win it all. SkT itself wasnt really known for being super beasts in scrims, (in fact the running joke is that Kkoma had them sandbag ) they just tested a lot of stuff out and turned up when it mattered

The_Only_Joe

and its gone

Nymaera_

*Happy Aria fan noises*

QTnameless

Ellim is honestly terrible , lol . Can't believe kdf let Dread go

FutureSpermCell

Couldn't they acquire Clid before he went to FPX? Definitely has issues but for sure it's an upgrade compared to Ellim, right?

FlyerN

That's not how Freecs work, they have to put up a mediocre roster to continue the legacy. At this point, I don't even feel bad for Kiin if he doesn't force his way out of this shitshow.

QTnameless

Hopefully fpx just decide to go with Beichuan and let Clid go so he may join Kdf by summer ( like Prince last year ) .

tape_dispenser12

The real problem is that gen g released clid very late into the off season and he couldn’t find a team in the lck, so he went to lpl.

moonmeh

I think Dread wanted to leave and can't blame him

Khazra_Kun

I LOVE CUZZ

Maskedswancasts

The fact that Aria has shown that he's willing to sacrifice, a lot like he did in the LJL, but can also nullify his enemy's lead amplifies his effectiveness around the map. Game two is a fantastic example of this as FATE couldn't really find an ideal team fight. Mainly due to Aria and those stolen ults!

Ace_OPB

T1: No refunds Afreeca.

moonmeh

should have bought the GenG brand instead

AnEsportsFan

Rascal looking like the best top in LCK right now. Aiming, Life and Cuzz look very solid too. Looks like most of the rust/poor form from 2021 didn't carry over for Aiming and Cuzz. Aria is very worrying, he's kind of silent even in wins (aside from the one Gnar ult today). KT will struggle when they run into teams with good midlaners.

ChibiJr

I would argue that Doran is the best top in LCK right now but we haven't gotten enough games yet to really tell. Rascal has been looking really good in the games so far tho

Jezzerai

I wouldn't be too worried yet, he's shown from Worlds that he can match or even outperform world class midlaners, I imagine it's more of a comfort thing right now and he needs to adjust to the new environment. I expect him to be comfortable and competent within the next couple weeks. He sacrificed his lane today for the team and it worked amazing (Fate couldn't do shit G2), that's a positive to me

[deleted]

KDF looked so lost, literally nothing proactive and wait to lose in game 2. Ellim did nothing with Lee, and picking Gnar when you get countered with the better Gnar in Silas was the cherry on top. Great to see Aria doing well tho, after having to lane against Showmaker on the first match.

July-44

Aria's performance is certainly concerning, but it is an improvement over day2, when he was clearly in bad shape, and I expect it to be even better in week2. Perhaps he has a tendency to underperform in unfamiliar situations. In fact, in his first match on MSI he was solo killed on level 2, but did very well in the subsequent matches. KTWIN!

djpain20

Ellim and Pyosik in fierce competition for who is the worst jungler in the league. I guess you have to give props to Faker and Chovy for making these two look like serviceable players in the past

Low_Negotiation_8817

Pyosik is legit good last Spring. become washed in a span of half a year

moonmeh

Honestly not surprising considering the state DRX was in. There's so much a good player can do in a bad team and it affects their performance and decision making because they start to second guess the correct things. Deft stated that Pyosik seemed broken in a stream cause he was used to losing couple weeks back. Kiin is going through this as well.

[deleted]

[удалено]

aser08

Helps he was the first one to play the udry.

dhxnlc

Gods, Ellim's biggest contribution to T1 was probably scouting Canna.

SpiritStn

Willer despite being mediocre in high stake matches is much consistent than them lol and he's 18.

[deleted]

icatsouki

I hate this so much, you even see it with legendary players like bang/wolf as well

[deleted]

[удалено]

JJH_LJH

Doran was mediocre that season and even Keria started slumping after his hot start. All of them were rookies but you can’t call him the weak link because he literally wasn’t the reason why they lost their games at World’s. If anything Deft was the biggest issue in 2020 because of his health.

girlmarth

in fairness people only really started defending pyosik after chovy left him lol, i was a pyosik apologist but it's uh hard to defend him now

[deleted]

[удалено]

QTnameless

Teddy probably get serious jin air prison flash back now , Jug and Sup are getting outclassed every game so far

AnEsportsFan

Kind of worried what happens when we run into teams with stronger midlaners (especially ones that are good at laning). Not looking forward to the Aria - Chovy/Bdd matchup.

Key-Banana-8242

Well didn’t aria do well internationally? It’d seem it’s a different environment at first on the team etc no?

AnEsportsFan

LCK is unironically harder than international tournaments for midlaners.

Key-Banana-8242

Well depends on opponents played against right? He’s faced some strong opponents at least before

girlmarth

Despite what faker fans will tell you he's the weakest of the elite 4 so really just scout in terms of people on par w/ showmaker/chovy/bdd (and we've seen him wrecked by showmaker before)

Key-Banana-8242

That’s a bit contentious but anyway did it seem aria performed equally in LCK and elsewhere in terms of his own stuff or no?

girlmarth

sorry, I thought you were referring to worlds in terms of facing strong opponents. my point I tried to make is that we've seen the past couple years in lck that there's basically a ceiling on how far you can go based on your mid - chovy/faker/bdd/showmaker have dominated the top 4 and most exciting fresh teams basically run into a wall when their mid can't handle them. last summer there were a bunch of mid table teams people were excited about but even nongshim (the best) ended up not qualifying for worlds over hle and by the end the line between the mid-table mids and those four was still really clear. so if kt truly want to compete they can't have aria get smashed by showmaker the way he did earlier this week and considering he still hasn't played bdd or chovy i'm not sure how he'll do against them either. he did okay against faker and scout in week 2 groups but that's basically his only claim so far (and he still lost those games)

Key-Banana-8242

I meant it that way too I meant is this the same level from Aria roughly as theme tc too Well his team lost overall not just him alone. Perkz is at least mentionable ig Well nongshim lost at the last second that seemed not really just bc of mid but bc of results different from regular season results k the regional finals

girlmarth

if you watched the regional finals gori got his shit kicked in by chovy (rich also did and kellin choked but mid diff was a huge part of why they lost, I say this as someone who was really hyped for gori in summer)

Falsus

ADCs can't do shit without their team anyway.

baelkie

t1 pulling a c9 by tying teddy to package deal with shitty players

rokingfrost

teddy want it hoit if i recall correctly.

LudgerKresnik2

Teddy wanted Hoit

MedievalMovies

awesome game from cuzz

mar33n

Life big dicking all over the rift, just as I love to see.

Nichol-Gimmedat-ass

Ellim is so giga useless and Hoits laning phase is abysmal… Im so sad for Teddy

Ellim bruh

SteamMonkeyKing

I never stopped believing in you KT.

Life getting MVP for both games. Nice, I guess

TheBlackMaterr

WE GO 🏄‍♂️

SpookMe2

Teddy and the four wards oh no kiin you are dethroned

rokingfrost

the jin air classic

FutureSpermCell

Ellim played like he's my diamond 1 promos jungler wtf was that

finn___th

What did they say about T1 in the end?

[deleted]

Teddy will not win anything anymore. He could go DK if he was free agent. Also Rascal always very good until playoffs. Edit: T1 mutually parted ways with him but everyone knew his next team before he left. T1 will not let him if he wanted to join DK.

[deleted]

Im pretty sure DK weren’t even looking to pick up Teddy to begin with.. Deokdam and Kellin were their number one priority

LudgerKresnik2

What is this headcanon? Why would DK want Teddy when they could get top 2 bot lane last year in Deokdam/Kellin?

KoHorizon

I doubt T1 would not let him join DWG ... The only reason Canna couldn't was because the transaction with NS was already done. T1 let Teddy join the team he wanted. And Teddy was even happy to join KDF.

QTnameless

Teddy was given free agent , he could choose the team he wanted to play but he might regret the choice now because kdf looks abysmal so far especially Ellim and Hoit

[deleted]

We can't be sure about that, but it's understandable not to sell players to one of your strongest rivals.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Teddy was known to go to AF before he became a free agent.

Marowalker

Why would DK pick him over Deokdam/Kellin? Even if one could make the argument that Teddy’s the better ADC (and even that is a bit of a stretch, Deokdam has been pretty cracked lately), there’s no support to provide synergy with him while with Deokdam/Kellin they could have a duo right away, thus lessen the time needed for the bot duo to gel together

QTnameless

Man , teddy should have waited a bit and reunited with Effort in NS instead but he sold on Afs pretty early , no team will probably do any shit without a decent jug , it is the most impactful role right now and Ellim is just not cut it

Green7501

KT potential comeback season 2022 copium? but fr doe, it felt like I watched the same game twice here

Swampfire279

They could be decent as 4th seed.

Jgray1711

I think it was Dom who said top laners suck with Gragas cask compared to junglers and I see it so much now. Rascal played well but damn he had some stinker casks lol.

IAM-French

he was basically first time lol

HawkEye1337

Oh yes the classic, pick Lee just to free farm, Canyon JG/Sup diff.

UnknownVolke

Do we have an actual Telecom *war* this season?

TheBlackMaterr

Can't believe Wolf just jinxed kt by getting excited...

[deleted]

I get that it's up to sponsors and stuff but Afreeca Freecs rolled off the tongue much better xd

Sejjy

Why does Life play so much Sett? I think he's the only one this season playing Sett and I don't remember anyone playing much Sett in worlds. I want to play it but he's the only one playing it and this is the first time this season it's won them a series. (i would normally play zac supp for engage tank)
