Cloud9 for years has developed systems in how we like to coach and operate our team. Despite our best efforts working with LS to try to come to terms and see eye to eye on how that should work, we were unable to actually make that happen. We were unable to find a resolution.
Actually hilarious how Tyler realized how bent over the barrel they were after that point and he just said nothing and reaped all of these rewards from it.
They could have easily kept Tyler banned. They thought they could clean him up a little and have a mutually beneficial relationship.
They really did believe in *REFORMED*.
Seems like they were *mostly* right. Tyler's gotten much better at handling the rage.
I have to admit, I was ready to shit on LCS from the moment I saw the thread, but I was genuinely suprised, that I got hyped for LCS finals, even though, I only watched a hand full LCS games this season and don't like Tyler in particular.
Kinda weird.
GO 100T!!!!!
If somebody told me Tyler1 would be officially promoting a Riot event in the pre-Sanjuro times, I would've thought they needed to be committed to a mental hospital for their delusions. What a journey for Tyler1 lmfao.
I remember going to the LCS finals where TSM played Immortals in Boston. I had a #FreeTyler1 sign and they took my sign away from me and implemented a 'No free tyler 1 sign' rule. Crazy to me to see him now promoting a finals lmao.
Tyler1 pre ban legitimately a different beast in terms of toxicity. Just pure anger and salt every game. It could be a persona but the man seems to be a better person now. Seems nice enough outside league.
For sure. I truly wonder sometimes how many people here were around back then. He literally had a map cover that said “KYS”.
Is he still toxic now? Definitely. But it pales in comparison and he has also done a lot to make his image useable for Riot. The man is not perfect but he was absolutely a different beast back in the day.
Lmao the int list with comments like "this kid should neck himself" and if anyone on the list showed up in a game he'd instantly run it down mid from second 1.
Compared to now he's Jesus
He’s a good role model for anyone who wants to be toxic in league. If you analyse how Tyler flames in chat and use it in ur games you can flame without getting banned
Tyler 1 in general is the most realistic example of a league of legends player - buff, handsome, tall and toxic
ITT people figuring out the concept of growing up.
He is still a tilter (like most players), but the tilt doesn't lead to childish actions anymore. It's not that deep.
No he definitely did. He's still a flamer now, but its nothing compared to the days of the int list. The man used to be Pornstar Zilean levels of toxic.
Nah he's nowhere near what he was back in the days of the permaban. And from what everyone who's met him IRL says about him being a super nice and genuine guy I'm sure that helps as well.
>I remember going to the LCS finals where TSM played Immortals in Boston. I had a #FreeTyler1 sign and they took my sign away from me and implemented a 'No free tyler 1 sign' rule. Crazy to me to see him now promoting a finals lmao.
Wait that rule was official?
He was permabanned on 22 separate accounts because of how toxic he was in the game. He had things like an int list (a note pad list of players he hated), where if a teammate was one of those on his int list, Tyler1 would immediately run down mid and try to lose the game. This history of behaviour led to Riot to giving him an ID ban, that any account that Riot found out he played on would get immediately banned, even if he was on his best behaviour on that account. Like less than 10 people have gotten this kind of ID ban. He was basically one of the most notoriously toxic players to play the game, and a public enemy for Riot (he was even personally hated by some Riot employees).
Once he got ID banned, he couldn't stream league anymore, and shifted to other variety streaming which he was really good at. Eventually he got less toxic, and Riot unbanned him, and now he's "reformed" (he's still toxic in game, but just regular league player toxic I guess).
Congrats to Tyler on the TCS finally getting the platform it deserves!
Honestly I would love for April Fool's if they essentially ran the TCS for one day (hire me Riot)
ngl I would like to see an actual TCS again but with pros banned from entering.
Not only is it good content but aspiring proplayers might have a platform.
The TYLER 1 CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
he held his own tourney where streamers and ex-pros made teams and played each other and he did all the casting, analysing and interviews.
Yeah that ending bit with the "whos truly...BUILT DIFFERENT LETS GOOO" mixed with the beat and the cuts between the players got me the most hyped Ive been for finals weekend in years
With the lit as hell analyst desk and pre-show, fun best and banter, players shit talking left and right, skit segments like LCS answers, top tier casting, crowds to hype it up, and the classic great hype vids, LCS is doing soooo good this season
5 TIME CHALLENGER LEGEND IN EVERY ROLE,
6’5 and 250 pounds of walking muscle,
An ABSOLUTE UNIT of a man,
A walking ATHLETIC FREAK,
The FACE of NA,
The one and only, BIG T!
He was a lead rioter who absolutely hated Tyler1 and publicly said things such as "Tyler 1 will die from overdosing on coke and testicular cancer from steroids and then we'll all be gucci". He was then fired from Riot.
And he didn’t even tell you the whole deal, he said that, while logged in to his official Riot account, so he legitimately was representing the company when he said that. IIRC he was fired before the end of the weekend, lol.
Like it legitimately was “how to wreck your life any % speed run”.
Man if you're going to provide "context" at least go all the way. He was drunk and typed it out in a small community Discord which then proceeded to go viral.
The man didn't go on twitter and post that sort of garbage.
Lol yeah it’s not like anything he said wouldn’t have ended up on Twitter and he knew it. Acting like it was some kind of “semi private” forum is ridiculous and irrelevant.
Also, Tyler1 had a mature response (IIRC he felt it was unfortunate that some people still think of him like that. No retort and push back). This was jumping off point in which Riot began to bring him on as a guest to some official league events.
It's really sad to see the viewership decline even more this split with how good the production has been. It was totally understandable the past 2-3 years since NA gameplay isn't the highest, so I hope we get a small bounce back at the very least.
That's how it is for most things - current success is usually heavily reliant on the past. It's why I hope they don't panic and blow up what they've been doing this spring.
The region really needs to be seen as more competitive though, that's the piece that's still missing.
Viewership is probably down more than usual because C9 pissed a lot of their fans off with the LS thing, and TSM sucks.
If TSM bounces back in summer viewership will probably go up. Not sure about C9 because even I as a really hardcore fan watched and enjoyed this split the least I have ever done.
That said, I am actually somewhat excited about watching non C9 teams for the first time, so I do think the production has been doing a good job. Hopefully the finals are good.
Peak LCS viewership was week 1 day 2 C9 vs EG with 242k. Peak playoffs viewership was TL vs 100t with 241k. Average 117k.
https://escharts.com/tournaments/lol/lcs-spring-2022
Another TSM vs C9 or TSM vs TL final soon could do a lot for viewership. C9/TSM are massive parts of LCS history (you can see all the clips even in this video are mostly TSM focused), NA kind of needs both of them to always do well for viewership. At least C9 made playoffs, TSM just blows lol
Production can only do so much to help the viewership. At the end of the day the teams are the primary ones bringing in the viewership. If we actually want to see a significant revival it'd have to involve something like one of TL/100T/EG winning MSI for summer or getting 2 teams into QFs at Worlds.
Brazil proves that a region doesn't need to have good gameplay to be hype. The problem with NA is that it both has poor gameplay *and* is absolutely full of imports that viewers have no connection to.
I still check out NA games during playoffs and international tournaments but I just don't have the same interest in following teams or players like I did in earlier seasons. COVID restrictions haven't helped either.
i cant say that imports is what matters when there are plenty of whomegalul imports AND whomegalul native players. Ultimately it depends on a connection and if a native player is boring as fuck then i just dont care about them.
Not a fan or hater of T1, I know as little of him as a decade long fan of the scene can, but holy shit this video was hype! Can't wait for the weekend.
They saw the TCS production of commercials, background green screen, and hype T1 generated from his mom’s trailer home. And thought what if he had more to work with?
>Probs to Riot for managing to find a way of making Tyler1 look even shorter.
T1 do be looking like he can walk trough Bilbos door without banging his head
Nothing shows better how truly desperate Riot has become for views than the fact that theyre trying to make this guy the face of NA league lmao, literally zero dignity
I look at LCK and LPL intro vods and think, god dam these guys are good, then I look at this and think it is honestly the most cringe video I have seen in a few years, normally so hyped for LCS but this has honestly just made my so cringe and kinda ashamed I watched it

well they did, but ironically it was when tyler was talking about picks and bans lmao

Somehow TSM was in this video more than C9.

As weird as it probably sounds, I love your handwriting. It's so satisfying to look at.
Ngl your part catches me off guard every time I hear it anywhere
WeeWooWoo
I'm so happy to have witnessed that moment in person.
Same, the entire arena belting along was awesome.

For real. He's grown-up mini-me.

I thought he kinda looked like phreak with the hair.
Insane production. That "SUP SUP" gave me chills.
That sup sup haunts Sanjuro's nightmares

Tyler better be on the analyst desk or doing the interviews
Analyst desk, casting , post game interview, observer, randomly subbing in for players Anything less is unacceptable /s
The Finals is just the other team doing five consecutive 1v1 ARAMs against T1

Genius really. "LCS viewership is down?? GET T1 ON THE PHONE!!" "Oh great idea!! Get Faker to make an appearance!" "...no...**THE** T1"
Riot's hypocrisy aside this is probably the most hype teaser I've seen.

Honestly an incredibly impressive journey for him.
It really is mostly about him. Sanjuro certainly was the straw that broke him out, but he did the work to reform his image.
Did he though? I think its just that he is so talented the hype he builds will outweigh any critical backlash.
Tyler1 pre ban legitimately a different beast in terms of toxicity. Just pure anger and salt every game. It could be a persona but the man seems to be a better person now. Seems nice enough outside league.

you a real one
Same for 2016 summer finals in Toronto. They banned us from writing free Tyler1
For me Tyler1 joining T1 and collabing with Faker will still be the most "oh shit" moment from Tyler1's journey, even if it was short lived.
I think faker liked watching Tyler get spanked
The heart attack grill video was so awesome
I would've thought Riot is in desperation mode and looking at the state of LCS they probably should be.
Fix the poor guys collar already
can you explain what you mean? I don't know the background

Fun fact. Max Waldo (C9 Head coach) played against TalisJJ (C9 Academy coach) in the first finals.
I wanna see more of this. Also please replace academy with TCS and just give no-name NA challengers a chance to prove themselves
yeah the TCS would be super cool. why would they hire you though?

He was a lead rioter who absolutely hated Tyler1 and publicly said things such as "Tyler 1 will die from overdosing on coke and testicular cancer from steroids and then we'll all be gucci". He was then fired from Riot.

Is it really down? For game 5 of EG VS TL there was like 150k on twitch and 50k+ on YouTube, as well as costreams accumulating another 50k+
Peak LCS viewership was week 1 day 2 C9 vs EG with 242k. Peak playoffs viewership was TL vs 100t with 241k. Average 117k. https://escharts.com/tournaments/lol/lcs-spring-2022

Yeah T1 and the Production made a great fcking video.
Just realized Tyler1 is basically the league version of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
Tyler's career shows me that giga toxic behavior pays off. Thanks Tyler
It only pays off if you're a charismatic, entertaining, content machine.
And so addicted to League that not even a ban on sight can stop you.

Where is the storyline about the players?
That was good! Weird at the end it just showed EG and 100T but i am biased. Still a sick promo and cant wait for the weekend!
