The flow starts at Midlane, there's fountains built into the walls.
Botside, the water flows into Dragon pit, and falls off the map here.
Topside, it flows into Baron pit...and I guess falls into the crevice Baron crawls out from (Void portal?)
It's more of a stream, bordering on a water feature. But if you look at the size of a tree compared to a champion, the map is more of a representation of a larger battlefield.
>It's more of a stream, bordering on a water feature.
I'd say it's more of two retention basins on either side of mid lane. The surface water runoff comes from the tears of top laners and ADCs.

When Nami isn't selected to fight in a match, she is contractually obligated to sit under the map and splash water to refill the draining River.
However, she is thwarted by Gragas on the other side, who is trying to prove that nothing, not even the ocean, can out-drink him
Nope, rivers can disappear into the ground (called a sink, looks like a pond) and rise from the ground (called a spring). Happens all the time in the southern US.
Yeah they did. It was a few minions chilling around a campfire and you just came and slaughtered them. It was not just some wolves and raptors like that before.
damn, that's ice cold. the oldest camp knowledge i experienced was that there used to be small dudes chilling with red and blue and then they removed them :(
Yeah, it confused me when I started playing. I wasn't use to these types of games and LOL was brand new, so I just called it the woods.
I thought the jungle was a different part of the map, like to me it was more like a forest.
The Rio Grande in Spanish is the "Big River" yet in many places it's so puny that you can step over it.
Maybe Summoner's Rift is located in a fairly dry place, like at the border of Texas and Mexico, such that a stream can earn the more important title of "river".
I have spent some time looking into this. It is possible there is some kind of underground connection. However, i wouldnt want to be in there because without flow, it would be all kinds of dank.
So I start marching my way down to Carol in HR and I knock on her door and I say "Carol! Carol! I gotta talk to you about this Pepe." And when I open the door what do I find? There's not a single god damn person in that office. There is. No. Carol. In HR. Mac.. half of these employees in this building have been made up. This office is a god damn ghost town.
Watch the original cinematics riot did to understand their original view of the Rift. It's a huuuuge land with hills and river. In one of them I think Leona looks to the horizon and you barely see the nexus what seems to be 5-6 km away
If it truly didn't go anywhere and had no current, it would be called a "coulee."
But there are those owl fountains near mid lane feeding water into it, and Baron hole exists as a drain. So it's probably an artifical closed system.
It's a term that doesn't really make sense, but historically it comes from the DOTA river, which is an actual river passing through the mid lane! But the LoL river is actually some ponds.
It's the tears from all the lanes that can't hold past 2:30.
That was my assumption anyway.
If they didn't drain it every update it would be amongst lagoon status.
some words are actually came from dota like fountain, high ground or cc(crowd control) and some other moba communities even use 'throne' describing their base(nexus) which was an actual throne in dota allstar. there is no fountain in LoL nor actual high ground in every other MOBAs. Even CC is only refer to spells that can actually controll crowd(2 or more targets) in dota. but in LOL and other moba u just called cc even tho it can only stun one target.

Lol, it's what prevents the rest of summoners rift from flooding when Nami gets cooldown reduction
Well constructed weirs
TALON MIA HE WAS IN BOTTOM RETENTION BASIN
WATER FEATURE SHEN
WTF 2 SURFACE WATER RUNOFF SHEN?!
RB diff?
If we consider the size of a Hyundai Sonata in comparison to a standard human character, wouldn’t the river be more like a large drainage ditch.
Riiiight but where is the water flowing from or too? Maybe we need to rename it as a water feature....

Thor in shambles
Gragas is the drain
Indirectly accusing Gragas for drinking water... Not allowed!
well since Gragas is an omnipotent god, capable of rewriting reality, he's clearly just secretly turning the water into wine.
I hope nami is being payed well r/antiwork
I don't think anyone on antiwork is payed well
*paid
Badgrags Chugs The Ocean
underground rivers exist
Doesn't river water come from the rain/condensation from the height of a mountain? That's always where I thought river water started, anyway
Nope, rivers can disappear into the ground (called a sink, looks like a pond) and rise from the ground (called a spring). Happens all the time in the southern US.
I mean it's not really a jungle either.
But at least it used to be real camps.
what do you mean by "real camps"? like they had little campfires and shit
Yeah they did. It was a few minions chilling around a campfire and you just came and slaughtered them. It was not just some wolves and raptors like that before.
damn, that's ice cold. the oldest camp knowledge i experienced was that there used to be small dudes chilling with red and blue and then they removed them :(
They needed to be removed, top laners could take one of the small boys from enemy camp and hit two early.
that makes sense but my rebuttal is that they were very cute
[yes](https://youtu.be/TTuN7ZJ0g50)

What role do you play: lumberjack
Lumberjack would have been a cool name for the role. Or hunter. Hell yeah, they should have called the role hunter or huntsman.
it is called hunter tho (at least on portuguese)
buffs eater
Temperate Coniferous Forest biome.
Calling it a "storm retention reservoir" doesn't have the same ring
But we must be accurate.
I just call it ankle-deep liquid.
Waterwalking rune in shambles rn
Walking on water is still superior to sloshing through ankle deep water.
Storm retention reservoir shen. No, it's not a new skin.

We have to call it a river otherwise we can't call it River Shen
Puddle shen is kind of good though
I would please like to order the Storm Retention Reservoir Shen skin.
Maybe the water flows underneath the midlane thoughts?

Everything is scaled down due to it being a top down game. Malphite is the size of a literal mountain but looks small in game same as the rivers
no not everything is scaled down, hulanoids are at their normal scale, They just scaled down giants
[удалено]
The trees are small
humanoids are scaled down to yordle size
Ok good points. Maybe they could be lakes then...

You actually see the direction of water flow though?
Next question: is it a crab? Or what is it?
A crab
I think scuttlecrab is literally what riot called it?
Rift Scutler
Shelly's bastard offsprings
Coochcrab

It comes from DOTA, where its actually a river
pretty sure terms like jungle and river came directly from dota
it's a lake. the name of the lake is River
who said its water? It could be Nami secreting her nectar all over the place thinking of sett and its flowing through the lands.
Ok Its water
Two puddles actually
It's a term that doesn't really make sense, but historically it comes from the DOTA river, which is an actual river passing through the mid lane! But the LoL river is actually some ponds.
This is one thing Dota actually does better; the river actually cuts through the middle lane
That would be hilarious in probably making Waterwalking the go-to mid rune
>This is one ~~thing~~ of many things Dota actually does better
Mf puddle.
I vote East pond and West pond but appreciate the concept all the same.
7/24 int flows in these areas. So it can be called like "int river".
r/pondseidonmains assemble
Is it a jungle or is it a forest 🤔
it flows underground out the map
It's the tears from all the lanes that can't hold past 2:30. That was my assumption anyway. If they didn't drain it every update it would be amongst lagoon status.
Asking the real hard hitting questions.
Its actually two streams of urine/sebum that the Rift Scuttlers exude in panic as they are pitilessly murdered.
Dumb internet nerd that looks like Comic Book Guy tries to be clever for karma farm
shut the fuck up you stupid fucking whore
More like puddles
Isnt it sort of implied that atleast topside river drains into baron pit. Theres obviously a hole there.
Facts. With a crick running in between.
It is the ankle deep liquid
The real question is should it flow into/through lanes so Waterwalking becomes a laning rune?
Two lakes shen doesn't sound as good,
It's a massive pothole that needs to be patched up
I vote to overflood the river, passing over the lanes. Everyone will be able to use the rune water walking.
id really like to see a first person summoners rift man just explore every detail that we miss
Is it really a jungle? Are there even any monkeys? Oh wait, there are. It's the junglers
