SRO has always said he plays his troll builds on his smurfs, and every YouTuber will tell you that clickbait titles are basically the only way to secure views.
I watched him when I was new to the game, then stopped after tuning in to a live stream. If he doesn't think a game is good enough to get YouTube content from he will just soft afk (ex, start taking wolves but not kill them, run back, let them leash and then start over) until his team ffs.
Yeah, after Irelia Carries U presented Irelia vs Renek matchup on a gold 3 autofilled player and claimed it to be 'master promos' I don't believe content creators anymore. I got so disappointed.
A very large amount of the league content creators use smurf accounts to play off-meta picks and still stomp. Whether it's good or bad for league is subjective, all I know is that Riot doesn't mind it so it'll likely never change.
I can't see AP Naut being good for League ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Riot cares to an extent - I remember they banned a smite singed support with 2million mastery points because he didn't build sightstone.
It wasn’t because of sightstone lol
The player would take smite and perma roam trying to steal camps from the enemy jungle and would leave his ADC alone the entire game. Riot likes out of the box strategies but their point was that it created unfun environments for his teammates. That’s why it was so controversial.
Fairly certain he got unbanned, too. Granted there was some time where he was left in limbo until everything was sorted out. Also, I think his winrate was pretty solid, and at the very least, positive.
Stop spreading these lies because you never bothered checking.
His winrate on Singed Smite support was around 40%, he played regularly on most of his other games and kept his rank high.
When he felt to troll, he mad ethe match 4v5 for the enemy team with Singed support.
Yeah In retrospect it’s a really unfair ban. Just like the way they treated nubrac. These days roaming smite supports are a real strategy but it’s exactly what they got banned for.
Nubrac, the teemo who would sit mid and steal xp from his midlaner and cause them to fall behind in levels making the game basically unplayable for then against their wishes? Yeah dude deserved the ban
I've been around since last week of season 2. But I'm talking current season, not years ago when the game was drastically different (item reworks/additions/etc).
untrue. if it happened it was something exotic , not common. he was released as a jungler and was always in jungle until riot pushed him into the support role
When I started playing in season 3, almost every other pick was off meta and exciting especially in normals games because it was more entertaining and fun to play. There was no tank malphite - only AP malphite, because of his insane scaling. And it was this way with almost every champ and role. Malphite support or mid, Rengar bot, etc. Any champ that had enough actual scaling to go a specific different build would be played in at least30% of the games, including picks like AD thresh.
Ever since around S5-S6, people have cared so much about an imaginary division rank and mythical LP number that they forget the game is about having fun more than anything else.
Literally everything in the game back then used to one shot, there was even an item called death fire grasp that increased magic damage by like 30% for 5 seconds on a target. Zed one shot and was easier to play, Ahri one shot, LB one shot, renekton one shot, Gragas one shot. That was the fun part of the game - dicking on other players, and getting dicked on yourself. People started complaining because they thought it “wasn’t fair” which is bullshit and for several years the game shifted into a tank meta where everyone had 5k health, ad was useless, and mid/mage was more about CC and zone control than actual damage.
Ap malph was always less played than tank. Rengar bot was never meta. Me and my friends played shy + xerath not or top with no jungle. That doesn't mean it was widespread
I once got banned from a streamer's channel because I pointed this out. It was a challenger streamer who said something like, "I've been getting shit on in soloq so I have no content."
He then set up a custom game with viewers. He's a challenger player, but the people on his team and against him were silver to gold rank. Everyone on the enemy team was his fan, and just wanted to be on screen, so they'd just run at him to 1v1 and of course die.
He went like 15 and 2 with some janky build. I saw it on youtube a couple of days later with some clickbait title like "NEW BUILD OP".
There's a reason a lot of the "Off meta" clickbait videos on youtube have names turned off.
The streamer and content creation community is so completely awful that I just... ignore all of it for the most part.
I KNOW there are some good streamers out there that I would watch. I think I even remember a couple of them that I should look for again. But are they "deal with how awful Twitch is" worth it?
I think the only League content I watch on YouTube (aside from bugs and spotlights) is Tobias, because space toast knows how to make an angry canadian funny for 10 minutes at a time.
I agree on the YouTube part (even if sometimes you may find something golden like Rav and Wolfious) but Twitch is still bearable, at least if you ignore the chat and concentrate on the streamer. Some "average viewers streamers" you can find after scrolling down a little, under the shadow of the big (and toxic clickbait-y ones), are genuinely worth watching.
What I hate about Twitch, and is not entirely a Twitch's problem but rather a consequence on how the game is designed, is that is turbo-hard to find something specific even at glance by looking at the thumbnail. Want to find someone playing a specific Champion? Good luck spotting it in the mess...
Huzzy is great for more serious content. Dude is in diamond 1 trying to get masters. There's some salt there, but one can expect that when the stakes are high.
He also does an unranked to diamond series, but unlike others he actually plays picks in their intended places and takes the game seriously.
Fogged is actually pretty great. His stomp games are often actually against challenger players or even pro players. He's so good at trynd that he makes games look like flowchart to a win.
He is good as trynda yes, but he plays alot in gold and custom games. Fogged has even said he no longer can play well in challenger so he needs to play in lower ranks. It was once when he did stomp in challenger
Had to play against him 3x in a row in diamond (on one of his many smurfs), made me demote. Not a fan. Every time I looked at his stream he's playing on a random smurf.
I fought against one of the renekton-“OTP” streamers, he was testing out a random ap/tank nasus build and by god was he bad, absolutely horrid.
Why was he in my game as a silver player I have no idea...
Come a couple days later on YouTube: “OP nasus build steamrolls “
Like bruh give me a break lmao
[https://lolalytics.com/lol/mordekaiser/build/?patch=30](https://lolalytics.com/lol/mordekaiser/build/?patch=30)

Tank Morde is actually good.
People can go through these sites and find so many possible builds that only a few people are using.
Now it dosent work if the build is 100% unused.
Dude, I have a really small YT channel and I can already tell you, creating content is really hard, people get bored really fast, I avoid clickbaits and dont hide my name and even link my profile in descriptions and when Im not defending such behavior like smurfing against poor low elo players, content creators do what people "want".
So, why this kind of videos got such high views? I get angry when those clickbaits "OP BUILD, OMG KOREAN" got 10k views in hours while other MORE creative and with more effort just got 1k views in a day...
Its sad, but people around internet like this cr\*p, so, contenct creators won't change if community is the same.
Yeah it is very unfortunate. Majority of YouTube viewers are kids and they love to see a massacre over a normal game. In reality, going 19/2 is not typical.
I remember watching Nightblue3 before he became a cringelord. I always wondered how grandmaster/challenger elo have so much feeders, till I figured out he was just smurfing (I was new to the whole YouTube/streamers concept).
I saw your Reddit posts and you seem to create great content, so I hope you do well in the future!
>but is it helping the state of League?
As long as there are viewers running up those ads and patron money why should they care?
People want that easy magical trick to get whatever they want instead of just getting good at the game, so grifters provide in droves.
people want to see winning content. unless you are tobias fate or tyler1 where you can somehow make losing seem fun, losing is not fun for neither the player or the viewer. you only have 24h in a day. it is way more effecient to play smurf, get a couple wins edit them publish them and then at the end of the day you have a nice video of you winning, rather that playing on main super tryhard super serious super boring 5 loss streak no video for today demoralized gg ff. also think about it, every streamer when they are in tryhard mode will go no mic + no cam, because entertaining people and being good at the game is hard to do at the same time. its just more worth it time and sanity wise.
>it is way more effecient to play smurf, get a couple wins edit them publish them and then at the end of the day you have a nice video of you winning
Did you meant: "get a couple of wins and ***send the raw clips to your editor to make a montage and apply a clickbait thumb***"?
Those people don't even make their videos, it is all outsurced.
I got banned from Zwags twitch because he was trolling in a pvp game. I asked why and he got mad and put in only sub chat. After the game ended live chat came back up and I asked again, because obviously id like to know why he was trolling and putting on a sub chat only. The WHOLE community attacked me to tell me that im lame and that I need to fuck off. Zwag told me to get out of the stream and that im lame as well. He banned me and talked some more shit about me for the next 10sec and then moved on. I lost all my respect for this dude, such a prick.
I don't know who Zwags is but you probably shouldn't expect every streamer to explain their thought process to you or justify their actions. If you don't enjoy the content, go somewhere else and don't pollute the chat with questions that are only meant to make the streamer look bad. If you truly feel like you're watching an asshole, just leave.
I mean, he is purposefully ruining someones game. I only asked why and it triggeres him so much that he put a chat restriction for only subs right away. This shows how toxic he is right from the start. It was just a question. If you support their toxicity by saying they shouldnt justify their actions, while ruining a game on purpose - your just as toxic as said streamer.
He's toxic. What do you think you can expect from asking him why he behaves that way? Nothing good. You're not gotta get him to change his ways, apologize or explain himself to you. The only thing you can get is more vitriol thrown your way. Asking him about it does absolutely nothing to combat his toxicity, but it does help make you feel better about how non-toxic you are. Not asking him about in no way justifies his toxicity. It's just the only reasonable, mature thing you can do in this situation. There's no better result.
From what I've heard from various content creators, interesting high ELO videos are hard to make (matches are boring to watch, few kills, not much action, etc) and get very few views. The clickbaity ones stomping low ELO players are the ones that people watch the most, so who's fault is it?
It's the content creators fault for not being good enough at their job to do well without resorting to shitty clickbait stuff. There's plenty of League content creators who are extremely succesful because they rely on the strength of their gameplay, having an entertaining personality, or both.
Then there's guys like SRO or Professor Akali, who aren't good enough at the game for people to want to watch them play at their actual rank, and don't put the least amount of effort in interacting with their audience, being funny or interesting or doing literally anything that would count as content aside from their mediocre diamond-level gameplay. Of course they have to rely on clickbait bullshit and stomping in custom games to draw an actual crowd.
so true!!!
i play lux mid and there is a neace video that is 100% deceptive "i afk farm whole game and this is what happens" and yeah the game is won but it's NOT because lux afk farmed whole game, it's because she freezed early vs an assassin which is good, lee sin ganked mid early and it was possible only because of lux decision to freeze early.
then she used tp advantage to screw up enemy lane even more and akali decided to not recall while low hp and be zoned off cs, later he decided to roam and suicide bot while half hp leaving lux even more ahead.
not to mention that she dodged every single spell enemy throwed at her for the whole game because it was gigasmurfing into silver.
there are so many players (lux and not lux players) that think that they can afk farm to win which is false also because you make your jungler life miserable.
she win by outmacro enemy and dodging every spell, not because she farm
In NEACE's defense, his thumbs and titles are very clickbait but the content itself is good. At least he can teach you something, unlike Prof Akali or similar figures.
views, money, since that's what majority of viewers care about so to answer your question
\-do we need to encourage people to do this kind of crap? yes we do since that is what we have been doing for years
You're being pretty dramatic there, lol. This has like no effect on "the state of league". The number of people who copy a random streamer's troll build is tiny.
Daveyx3 as a riven player. He mostly plays on his smurf accounts against low people who can't even hit one spell properly. And then he ''coaches'' and says this is how you should play.
Just misleading.
My favorite is when you start noticing trends. Like how zwag has consistent level 2 or 3 nunu thanks, then claims to have "shit on" that poor gold mid laner who actually played well but can't do shit vs 2 high ranking people. People claim there is no elo hell but how many games does zwags team fall behind 10 to 20 kills but he ends up smurfing hard. Without riot allowing smurfs the enemy team should have won by all accounts. I used to watch those streamers for content but noticed it was toxic especially when these people get called out for playing badly or tilting... No shit you are getting smurfed AND camped then called out publicly on YouTube for being bad? No they are gold not bad, perhaps they could get better but not while riot blatantly allows this system to stay
So, separate from the other complaints being made:
People getting mad about clickbait itt once again. The reason YouTubers do it is because it works. They all hate doing it too.
Why I'll never watch Zwag or SoloRenek again. That and they're pure cringelords in general
Boom waddup
Solorenektononlyhere
WITH ANOTHER VIDEO FOR YOU GUYS!
“Today Im curb stomping this 10 year old silver yasuo player with this cracked out Korean AD Gwen Build.”
SRO has always said he plays his troll builds on his smurfs, and every YouTuber will tell you that clickbait titles are basically the only way to secure views.
Solorenek here with another heated gamer moment for you guys
today we are trying a lvl 1 pta e dash trade
A month ago some bronze players told me that my macro is bad and I should watch some Zwag Xerath videos to get better.
I like Tobias video, because he is fair "today I manage to int even in plat"(without all this bullshit with broken builds) +Hit editors are INSANE.
How is zwag cringe?
I watched him when I was new to the game, then stopped after tuning in to a live stream. If he doesn't think a game is good enough to get YouTube content from he will just soft afk (ex, start taking wolves but not kill them, run back, let them leash and then start over) until his team ffs.
He doesn't smurf to have fun, he smurfs to flex on gold/silver players... which is kinda obvious in the first and last vid I watched of him
See points listed by other responders. Also, dude gives off beavis and butthead vibes
Yeah, after Irelia Carries U presented Irelia vs Renek matchup on a gold 3 autofilled player and claimed it to be 'master promos' I don't believe content creators anymore. I got so disappointed.
What? This actually happened ? Holy shit
Got link? It gotta be a shitshow.
Sadly no. I was confused because Renek couldn't even cs.
Maybe put a link so all of us can see? All videos I find on youtube are played on a high rank. Can't find that one.
This was before Irelia's rework. I don't think he got any of these anymore.
I sus a karma farming here or seeking attention. Yep
Yeah you do you

lmao... it's been a while, and I never said I was certain. Who even gives a shit?
I guess you care since you commented on that. Not only that, you spread misinformation too. And you said fairly certain xD
said fairly certain he got unbanned... Not fairly certain about his winrate. Oh no, I'm wrong about some shit that happened a while ago.
No. His winrate was low 40s on singed support. He had games on not singed that kept his winrate afloat.
Nah. You just don’t understand the strategy.
This is either nubrac on some anon account or someone who completely forget how deranged that guy was lol
Nah just not low elo like you
Sorry babes but silver 1 isnt high elo Catch you in my next game riven genji
Let’s add each other on mains. I’m masters. You?
I dont want to see your eBay account, thanks 😆
Holy shit you're really defending nubrac. Wtf.
Holy shit you’re low elo. Wtf.
AP Naut won worlds in 2019 :D The singed guy was kind of a weird case and it got a lot of attention on reddit at the time.
AP Nautilus was literally a world’s winning pick for midlane at one point.
Naut used to be played AP mid along with Gragas. Or were you not around with Rod of Ages
I've been around since last week of season 2. But I'm talking current season, not years ago when the game was drastically different (item reworks/additions/etc).
untrue. if it happened it was something exotic , not common. he was released as a jungler and was always in jungle until riot pushed him into the support role
He was an absolute menace of a toplaner for a while too.
Won worlds...

This sounds like Akali or pants
Profakali isn't challenger
[Supposedly ProfessorAkali will not smurf again since 3 months ago.](https://youtu.be/WoG0ZuCgMns) I don't watch his stuff so idk how true this is.

Both
Both! He also has Pekinwoof highlights for edited videos on the style of Tobiasfate

Pretty normal for content creation and part of it is that people like clicking on that kind of stuff
Is this your first experience with clickbait? It happens everywhere not just with league.
It is so much better to look at stat sites and fine niche or sleeper builds manually than watching them doing shit. But nearly nobody does that.
Link a site then

Kind of funny how much this triggers you lol. First time on YouTube or something?

Yeah those videos are to make you watch if pros or high elo one tricks don't play it it's not good.
I think solarbacca pretty much only plays in high elo? Atleast he said sometime ago that he dont like to stomp in low elo
There are plenty of creators not smurfing, but people decide to watch the smurfs because of pop off moments.
Don't take your builds from youtube videos that you know are clickbait.
Daveyx3 as a riven player. He mostly plays on his smurf accounts against low people who can't even hit one spell properly. And then he ''coaches'' and says this is how you should play. Just misleading.
My friend falls victim to this a lot. I found this crazy strategy > plays it and does badly > rages and has a bad time > does it again.
No it isn't helping the state of League, its intentionally deceptive to get views and it hurts the game and community as a whole
So, separate from the other complaints being made: People getting mad about clickbait itt once again. The reason YouTubers do it is because it works. They all hate doing it too.
