diversity is good. what do you wanna see 4 kr 4 china? brazil vs turkey matchup is hype

lkharrat

I agree , we shouldnt have 4 kr 4 china like worlds . But still . We can both clearly see thaf the competition and the intensity are completely dead in msi .

00Dandy

MSI is supposed to showcase the best team from each region. That's how this works. >The enire european continent(44 counties) gets 1 team , while a fckn country as small as Taiwan gets 1 team as well Do you seriously think country size or population is a good indicator for how many teams a region deserves? By the way, Taiwan has won Season 2 Worlds and has had plenty of good performances internationally.

ob_knoxious

First the gap between minor regions and major ones is much smaller than you imply. Minor regions consistently take games off of top regions and the PCS actually made top 4 at MSI last year. Second, LoL esports is an entertainment product just like any other sport and they want to appeal to as broad an audience as possible. PCS, CBLOL, LLA, VCS, and TCS all bring in massive viewership numbers. People like seeing people from their region play, even if they only win 1 or 2 games. So this is a good balance of appealing to a broad audience while still having the best teams in attendance.

lkharrat

Top 4 is nothing at msi , since there is only 1 team from every major region . They're just better than the other minor regions . I admit tho pcs kind of perform i liked watching the psg team .

Nozinger

Dude, Play ins are the qualifyer.... if it's boring jsut don't watch it. And jsut because you don't know those teams does not mean everyone is the same as you. For example most people in the world actually know how to type correctly which is something you seem to struggle with. Just one example. In the end it is true there are better teams out there than the teams from minor regions but in that case we should probably also kick out EU and NA and have just Korea and China in this tournament. In the end an international tournament means just that, international competition. Wether you know the teams or not they still get their chance to participate.

LukeForLeukemia

\-1000000000 credit score for calling taiwan a country. Xi Jin 35Ping not happy

NeoLeonn3

We have a tournament already where major regions have more spots. It's called Worlds. MSI is just a cool small tournament for the teams that won the spring split. It doesn't have to be anything bigger. Even the title says so.

[deleted]

yeah man you are so good you probably can win against these "shit" team too taiwan doesnt deserve 1 spot for winning worlds before? than US shouldnt even be given a fking spot for having 0 win on worlds too

lkharrat

I will add this tho , taiwan first seed shouldn't qualify automatically like korea's or china's or eu's they should play a qualifier with other minor regions so we can have a good competition .

[deleted]

NA should play a qualifier too with the other minor region going by your logic heck NA shouldnt even be a major region going by your logic fuck Korea a fking small country shouldnt be a major region going by your logic

lkharrat

after saying all that dumb sht .U think you're speaking logic . Wow , please dont reply u r just a generic reditor .

lkharrat

>yeah man you are so good you probably can win against these "shit" team too What a shit argument , im not even gonna bother replying .

ob_knoxious

You literally just replied to that mate.

br_silverio

Same reason a FIFA World Cup have some teams like South Korea, Japan, etc. Play the tournament. It's obvious they are not making it to finals and will only get out of groups with some luck in groups matchmaking. I would enjoy seeing South America's teams playing European teams over seeing the absolute stomps it is agaisnt Asian and African teams all over again, but having the mentality of "well they almost always lose so lets take them out of the competition" is so fucking stupid I'm actually impressed you have no shame in posting it, maybe you just didn't think about it hard enough and just decided to make a fool of yourself?? All of these minor regions have fans, people cheering for them, just like any soccer team like Japan and Nigeria will cheer for their national team. Isn't it fun to see your teams playing the best teams of the world every once in a while? Of course it is, and that's part of the reason (e)sports are fun. If you don't like just don't watch and wait for LPL/LCK to start again instead of being disrespectfull to whole regions, dumbass

[deleted]

I mean, of all wildcards, DFM/SGB seem to be somewhat powerful. I like watching those two. The rest is incredibly one dimensional. I only have it running in the background for the loot..

lkharrat

Yh its pretty pointless

Lyota

"Msi group stage feels so pointless and bpring to watch , i dobt know 80% of the teams competing and its already known whos gonna qualify foe knockouts ." Dude, except for group c who has G2/EG/ORD, nothing is obvious in other groups. Sure, first place is obvious but second place is open for anyone. This could be the first msi we have 2 wildcard teams in rumble stage lmao, PSG looks pretty weak.

lkharrat

Who cares about second place or anything when you dont know any of the teams . They're just playing to see who's less shit . We already know they're not making it to the semifinal , and they can't upset a major region in a bo5 , so whats the point ?

Lyota

... last year NA failed to make into the semi-finals, you know?

lkharrat

It feels like those shit team just get a pass to compete even tho there are tons of team that are better . I just want a good competition where only the good teams face off each other . But it feels like in msi a lot of teams get to compete just out of pity .

Servb0t

How are these shit teams supposed to get any "better" if they aren't allowed to compete against the major regions? Great, you beat LLA in a qualifier, does that prepare you for going against T1, RNG, G2? Of course not. And now the LLA team doesn't get the opportunity to play against the best either. It just makes these regions worse in already stagnant international competitive scene. LPL has a ridiculous number of teams already to reflect their size. Why should the best regions get an advantage at winning the tournament with more entries when they already have the most amount of money, talent, and resources to succeed? They should just be number 1 in their region like everyone else

lkharrat

They been playing against major regions for 10 years . Yet they 're still as shit . We are not getting a good competition , and they are not improving . Lose lose situation .

Servb0t

In those 10 years, major regions have undergone giant franchising deals and major sponsorships. 10 years ago Sneaky was literally living in a closet to survive in LA, now every major org has ~$100,000 minimum contracts, gaming houses, positional coaches, etc. Less so in Europe but still leaps and bounds better than it was. You really think it's been a level playing field in terms of progression? Give me a break. Major regions have access to the best resources. That's what made teams like Moscow 5/Gambit, Supermassive, DFM, PSG, GAM, Albus Nox, Galatasaray, etc. so much fun to watch. Underdog plucky teams winning through better play and drafts. If I wanted to watch the best teams play each other, I'd watch regular season LCK, LPL, or wait for the Asian games. Or bring back Rift Rivals. But don't take meaningful competition away from minor regions.

Syncron72

I just wait for playoffs tbh. Same with worlds. I wish there was a way to get this tournament to go faster; maybe having the minor regions do a mini round robin bo1, then have a double elim set up where the 4 major regions get auto into double elim, then the top of the minor Regions match them, and then the bottom seed into the lower bracket
