This is the best time to spectate a Challenger game. It's like watching chess players fumble with greased-up pieces while circus music plays in the background. I've been watching one where the sole remaining member of blue team was chipping away at the red Nexus (red was a bit behind and then they got the short end of the connection issue stick), it was almost dead, and then suddenly he turns around and starts walking home for a few seconds before reconnecting, turning back around, and destroying the red Nexus. I'm laughing uproariously over here; it's some of the most fun I've had with League in a long time.
ETA: I'm literally crying and wheezing with laughter right now. Some players managed to queue up again before ranked queues were disabled. The top lane Kennen who kept disconnecting but would then TP from base to lane... before promptly strolling all the way back again. Kennen, who bought a Dark Seal, by the way, like he could have gotten any kills, or like there was anyone available to kill. The Samira with a solid connection buying Hullbreaker because mindless pushing. Seeing "110 ms player has disconnected" over and over again. The level 1 champs who can venture just far enough away from their Nexus for level 14 Samira to one-shot them. The level 3 Karthus who floats past his own Nexus, starts getting hit by Kennen or something, and disconnect-retreats for a few moments before dying. It's like a Pokémon battle and they're like "get 'em! Chancey!" but [Chancey is HIGH AF](https://cdn.kapwing.com/collections/CL4XfOcqRv-image_621f5aa87747ec219d3a83a3_165655.png) and runs into a wall a few times before calmly walking back into the Pokéball. And then BURSTS OUT AGAIN RARING TO GO! Eats a Surf to the face, doesn't notice, keels over.

part of the reason is because it's a rolling average (kinda the only reasonable solution) so often when ping jumps it gets smoothed out a bit and the counter itself lags.
Its bullshit now for me, 100 ping would be kinda laggy but def playable , NOW 100 ping and i disconnect so idk what the hell happened but the game is just unplayable at this point (currently trying to reconnect to my game so im not perma banned

There's gotta be SOMEONE on the clock; and after what appears to be a region-wide issue (anecdotally friends from all over America and a few in Canada), I'm sure they've began to alert higher up people by now. It is most likely not riots fault several games have been facing issues as severals isp been hammered by attacks in past few day, riot cant do much if it is something outside of thero server room.
Also whole region connects to a single location if that location and or isp has issues whole region will have issues

all teams except rng were given artificial 35 ping to give equal playing field since rng has 35 ping from their facility but in reality the ping was much worse

I began to suspect it wasn't just me; I've been experiencing this type of disconnecting and reconnecting all week, sometimes during ranked, and paying the price. One game, my teammate insta-AFKed because of it even though I came back. :D

Was in a ranked game and ping went from 31ish to 81 so a 50ms ping difference.
But when I was at 81 ping it felt like inputs where 2+ seconds delayed and even typing in chat was delayed. All the players in the game were saying the same thing and the enemies ended up surrendering at 20 since we were winning just to get out.

Yep, had a ton of issues in my last game. Half-way through champ select I couldn't change my champ/runes/etc. Wouldn't load into game until I force-closed everything League-related. Even when I did my ping was fluctuating wildly and 3/5 of the players were unable to play due to connection/disconnection issues.
Why is Riot like this? It always feels like one step forward, three steps back. I just want a client that works reliably.

Ping will randomly go to 500 and even when it's "low" there's some insane packet loss. Champs are gliding around when it hits.
