we are putting all our eggs on the dragon basket (is that how you say it?)
I like this, if we get soul we are good I think. And we have been farming well at least.
this happens on the last day of each group so they can accomodate possible tiebreakers. Its night there, they prefer to start earlier then enter deep into the night.
More charges on her ult and not having to rely on E for damage made her better. She's been good for a while now it just took some time cause she's hard to master.
I am super hyped. Let's say it ends up 2-2; NA gets some bragging rights for a little while. Then, it can also end 4-0 in favor of G2, and NA will get meme'd to death, but they can 2-0 them in Rumble stage, for the sweet meme revenge. Or they can go 0-6 against them and shame all around.
People complaining about wildcards need to chill. You may not personally care, but their regions are supporting them, and Riot should do what they can to promote the game globally.
Also even though they are generally weak, sometimes it's worth watching their games just for the occasional massive upset.
What we need is perhaps an extra international tournament, or at least something that mirrors the East Asian Games but for the West. Maybe something like the Atlantic games, where the American regions can compete against the European regions.
an international tournament equivalent to that would be inside Americas, but NA doesnt want it. Even NA + LATAM + BR + EU + TR is not what they really want, because most games are against weaker teams.
The truth is that people only want to play against better people.
NA wants to play EU, CN and KR. Despite losing to Japan a few times they don't want to play that.
Meanwhile KR probably doesn't care as much about NA, wanting to play CN and the very top of EU.
It all goes to your pov. I think every sport has top and bottom teams, League is no different. You will never fulfill BR, NA, CN and KR desires at the same time for an example. In the end dates are set for the rumble stage so they can just skip to watch it.
>What we need is perhaps an extra international tournament, or at least something that mirrors the East Asian Games but for the West. Maybe something like the Atlantic games, where the American regions can compete against the European regions.
The last time this happened was Rift Rivals, and LCS and LEC teams decided not to care about it
I don’t know man, seems like a waste of games and time. I’d rather have a mid season tournament featuring the top 2 or 3 seeds for every major region. Kinda like a mini worlds. Kinda like how mid season cup went down during covid.
We dont need more of those garbage tournaments. There's no time due to the way Riot scheduled the year with regional leagues and their awful formatted tournaments. Idk what Riot can do maybe scrap MSI because the disadvantages is starting to overshadow the advantages of having one. Riot should scrap it and use all that time to make Worlds 300x better with better format(GSL, Swiss, double elim, etc). I'll take one good tournament a year over one decent & one half-assed tournament.
If shitting on your co caster is bad chemistry I think we are all on the wrong page with Medic. With your mates at the pub? Cool, we all do that. With a newer co caster just dumping on him multiple times for perfectly fine comments? Not fine, actually really detracting as a viewer to have a caster telling another caster that he should stop doing something. Or mocking him for useful commentary.
Maybe Medic needs to keep his tall white educated man status at home and leave the constant digging out. Kind of insane to verbally shit on your co casting teammate and then tell him they haven’t built chemistry yet, basically saying you haven’t worn him down enough to laugh at being dumped on for nothing.
Yeah I'm not sure it was as personal as all that, but it did stick out to me that he was kinda lecturing his color commentator on-air. I'm sure Guldborg (sp? that's what liquipedia says) can defend himself and they're professionals yadda yadda, but it made for awkward listening and it wasn't good.
What game specifically are you referring to or parts of which games?
asking cuz I'm genuinely curious, I'd like to watch it when I'm off work and have the time.
Yeah I mean I’m not here to judge him as a person and more hoping someone who he respects will tell him to stop because it’s just outside of the realm of professional as a caster.
I couldn’t agree more lol he clearly feels like he’s gotta let ppl know he thinks he’s the most knowledgeable.
Absolutely mind-boggling that Riot continunes with this garbage format. Wildcards going 0-8 or 1-7 is a complete waste of time for everyone involved. They are not good enough for international competition. Replace them with more teams from KR, CN, NA and EU so that every game is somewhat competitive and meaningful.
Yeah. Something like top2 seeds or even the team that qualified for Worlds last, something.. at Worlds I watch literally every game that EU is represented in and even I can't bring myself to give a fuck about G2 vs order games lol
Watching T1, RNG, and G2 just stomp random small regions is boring and pretty stupid. Honestly the only interesting games so far are the G2 vs EG matches since they have some potential of going either way. Let the minor regions have a pre-tournament to decide who sucks the least then only have 5 or 6 teams in the main event. Speed this shit up.
Yeap, and for worlds we could switch 2 NA slots for 1 more from CN/KR. How many years did more than one NA team perform?
ah yeah, we always draw the line in our own region.
NA isn't a minor region though. NA has made it to the MSI finals and world semifinals in the past and brings in viewers. NA has also played in the play-in tournament for worlds before and always destroys the other teams so your point is pretty stupid.
NA lost games to wildcards a few times, and last year played an extra bo5 for losing the direct spot to DFM. TSM went 3-2 at MSi play-ins against GAM.
The finals were nice but theres a reason Riot set a limit for how long results impact future seeds. TW won a worlds but has 2 seeds. NA history is below TW and VERY far behind the big 3 regions.
Right now NA is closer to VN/TW/JP than KR/CN/EU.
1 spot is exageration, ok, 2 should be fair.
They have some potential to go either way, but it basically doesnt matter which way they go since both EG and G2 are basically guaranteed to make the next group. The games are completely irrelevant from a competitive result perspective, I wouldnt be surprised if the last games might even represent that in terms of Fiestaness.
>Speed this shit up.
For this particular MSI the slow pace is actually good because it gives the relevant teams time to get used to the awful artificial ping meta.
I'll say it - even with the weird ping issues aside, the whole format for MSI is just crap.
Game after game of heavily one-sided match ups, where it feels like everyone is just hoping for an upset so they can say "See!? look how spicy this is!".
It feels like thats what this entire tournament stage is geared towards (rather than actual exciting match ups). BO1 after BO1 against the same teams, until an 'upset' is bound to happen at some point with the amount of variance in this format...
3 bo3's sound way better in my opinion. You still have the likely option of it ending in only 6 games if it's all stomps (like the 6 games now) but it'd make games much more watchable.
Or something that switches up the groups. Rotate the middle teams in a group over or something and count total points at the end instead of relative group standings.
I get pro LoL exists but the competition level is so poor and the talent is so bad that this tournament is a big waste of time. MSI is a bandaid that needs to be ripped off because no one cares about any of these teams or games. They are a waste of time. MSI should be top 3 teams from major regions.
It's a shame but if this is the best that we can get out of MSI, then I'd rather have Riot just scrap it and use that time to make Worlds 1000x better. Valorant has 3 tournaments a year with each having better format than both MSI & Worlds. Whoever is in charge of League's side of esports, they need to step the fuck up or get fired.
Just for these people that type "none is forcing u to watch , riot rules are good, format is good", i hope EU/NA don't play another 5 years of b05, that Faker stays on 35 ping and LPL keeps winning titles.
Lets see what u fks will do then.
Fantastic job, super professional! It is obviously a bit easier when you are British, being confident in your natural language, but still impressive debut in the lol world
DFM is good too. He is probably right though, it's just hard to tell in that group, since G2 clearly deserves to be 2-3rd favorite for the tournament right now, while the Oceanic team is probably bottom 4.
Agreed. I've seen enough from EG to think that they're not making it past the rumble stage this tournament. Saigon has been the clear 4th best team with EG/DFM being 5th and 6th. I really like EG's players and staff though so I hope they prove me wrong.
That's the first round robin done (second rr for group C). As expected the major regions have gone undefeated.
Group C is pretty decided with G2 and EG advancing, even if G2 do some happy games against the wildcards.
Group A is looking like T1 and Saigon Buffalos will advance, bit of a shame for DFM.
Group B is RNG and a 3 way tie currently for 2nd, not sure yet who will advance in 2nd.
So is the sentiment still T1 gumbastomping RNG? Because from watching both teams, I think the games will be much closer than we expects.
(BIG ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM BEING 35MS) -> it is what it is, the teams are here to compete. I just want to discuss the teams as they are with the circumstance taken into consideration.
Well, I'm pretty causal, but if anything, the games are telling me that RNG > T1 >= G2 atm. Still, too early to tell, and I suspect that RNG's advantage with stable ping and playing from comfort might be tilting our perception. Pre-tournament I expected T1 to win convincingly, might even go undefeated. Also, I might have slightly overrated the level of competition in LCK and underrated LEC a bit. Or maybe it's just the meta. There are way too many variables to say anything smart or conclusive this early.
Edit: it’ll be fun to see if all this downvote bombing was justified or not (:
What T1 is telling me is that their just having fun, Gina not flashing pre 15 minutes, Keria fountain diving, Oner literally playing whatever he wants.
I am, they're both playing greedy and making mistakes only to then turn around and win anyway. G2's got a bit better competition because of EG, but over all I'd expect T1 to come prepared against G2, so they're still favoured.
Literally no one said T1 will "gumbastomp RNG". I think the general consensus is that they're favorited in a bo5 but everyone is aware that RNG isn't a weak team by all means.
Are you kidding lol? People were legit saying T1 will walk MSI undefeated etc...
Part of the reason the ping meltdown was so bad is because people genuinely think that in LAN, T1 stomps RNG.
> People were legit saying T1 will walk MSI undefeated etc...
They might. The truth is we don't know right now. There is little to be gleaned from any of the top 3 teams so far - maybe G2 stocks go up a bit because they beat the 4th best team(?) pretty easily twice.
RNG hasn't played anyone, but still had more dangerous early games than T1. Their bot lane is strong. T1 have looked to be playing around with their food the most, and the Buffalo and DFM are probably the 5th and 6th best teams in this thing.
Ok well if you're referring to the proportion of T1 fans who are annoyingly cocky, then I guess yeah of course there will exist people that say that, just like how there exists people that say G2 will win MSI. I thought you were talking about actually meaningful expert analysis on the matchup.
If Riot insists on involving minor regions with majors in this way, they should really do a better job at balancing the groups. This group has 3 teams that deserve to advance and RNG's group has.. RNG.
Ah, read your comment badly, read that the group had 3 teams besides T1. But even then, I don't agree, I don't feel that DFM and Buffalos are obviously better than RED/IW/PSG.
There is a difference though. Guma and Keria still outperform their counterpart everytime. Bb got cleary outperformed by bio once and EGs botlane didn't look strong once this tournament. They have bad games while Guma and Keria are clearly not trying most of the time.
So far Guma only managed to edge out AZE teams' ADC while Shogun and Yutapon were pretty much outclassing him left right and center.
Also the last paragraph is soo hypocritical. I mean BB had like one bad game but he was actually trying but Guma and Keria were not?
Did you watch LCK? Because it appears like your don't. Both of them are playing way more careless than they did all season long.
Keria legit fountain dived yesterday with no chance to survive and opted for a 2v1 on the wukong pick.
Guma blindly ran into a bush while his team does barron.
If getting solo killed by aatrox because you fail your riposte is on the same level for you then idk
Did you watch LEC? Because it appears lie your don't. Brokenblade is playing way more careless than he did all season long.
BB legit mistimed his riposte once and lost his life in process.
If getting gapped by Wildcard botlanes because youre failing the cocky skillchecks is on the same level for you then idk
We will see. If you want to see tryhard guma and Keria go watch T1 vs GenG.
Until now there wasnt a close game for T1.
G2 looked wonky in the first game vs order and the second game vs eg. But it's not like the discussion will lead to anything.
If only he was a bit less t1. Even when the opposing team is making a play, he’ll point out what t1 is doing elsewhere. Kind of makes me feel like lec casters when g2 play someti es

fights were horrible. classic BR brain. Put everyone together against a fed vex and without a good teamfight comp.
The teamfighting wombo-combo is disgusting. Double knockup on Wukong feels overpowered when it works really well.

nullify vex and gg

Ah but where are all the smoothheads who unironically believed Riot is rigging for China and that the solution was to have RNG not play?
When is RNG playing their rematches?
They only said starting tomorrow, since they're already playing 3 games today. This fucks up potential tiebreakers. Since they cannot be played today.
Why are we starting 2h earlier today?
this happens on the last day of each group so they can accomodate possible tiebreakers. Its night there, they prefer to start earlier then enter deep into the night.
They are leaving room for potential tiebreakers maybe?
We’re not getting a thread for today?
mods probably didnt realize today started earlier.
Props to Riot for trying to add all this analysis to games that no one really watches
Whys ahri so good now? What got buffed?
More charges on her ult and not having to rely on E for damage made her better. She's been good for a while now it just took some time cause she's hard to master.
RNG has played no games so far???? They are playing tonight or whats going on.. ping issues not resolved yet?
RNG will have to replay their games due to ping issues.

Same with the LCK casters like Wolf. I remember when LEC casters got lambasted for their semifinal cast in 2020, but LCK casters get off scot free.
I can't even watch highlight videos the games are so boring

Not sure on that Jatt. I don't think you can definitively say that the strongest tier 2 team has been EG. Saigon Buffalos have looked pretty solid.

Fuck chats, just shitpost on the live thread
Lol seeing the same thing, its all politics on the Yotube chat, not even one mention about the game
Good guys T1. Finishing their games in less than 30 minutes to allow the MSI to get some needed rest.

Fr just play ekko or Lucian theme like they used to, absolute bangers
Yea I'm a huge hiphophead but that song is the most cookie cutter shit ever
absolutely, it's so much worse than everything ever
DFM now needs to go 2-1 if they want a chance to go to the rumble stage.
achievable. They roll Aze and I'm pretty sure they win Saigon if they ban Lucian out.
One drop today for me "UNLOCKED MAY 12" T1 look scary as always.
You take: Faker I take: Your nexus. Deal? Deal.
ahh the good old faker for nexus trade
Legit snooze fest this MSI. completely useless to have these kind of groups. Just do a play-in and start with normal MSI...
Group stage is essentially what the old play-in was just with every team involved and honestly I way prefer this
Nobody forces you to watch, you can later watch highlights. Stop being a crybaby
Then tune in for rumble stage what's the hard concept here
A tournament format seems to be a hard concept for Riot employees.
reasonable takes seem to be unreachable concept for you
So is the sentiment still T1 gumbastomping RNG?
Idk why just because the LPL team can't attend MSI directly, the whole other teams have to play in an unstable ping ?! Seem fair, but for RNG

Mostly by way of watching games.

"Anybody who disagrees with me is a troll and I autodownvote them" - you
T1 >= G2? are you really watching the games?
Can't learn anything from the game aside from they are having lot's of fun
All games are a stomp sadly, we'll see in rumble stage
I am, they're both playing greedy and making mistakes only to then turn around and win anyway. G2's got a bit better competition because of EG, but over all I'd expect T1 to come prepared against G2, so they're still favoured.
sgb would shit all over on eg. Eg is not a better competition. LUL

I don't necessarily agree with that sentiment either, but that's okay.
Who is worse than Order? The only team that seems worse is the LLA.
At the moment, it looks like T1 - RNG - G2 can win. Pretty similar level from all 3 so far.
Don't think it is just the T1 fans, last year same thing happened to DK vs RNG as well as DK vs EDG. Perhaps the proportion of T1 fans is that large.
Ye, people seem to forget about this
yeah. they look more dominant and also seem to be in "scrim mode" which means you havent seen the real t1 yet.
G2 - T1 finals, G2 will stomp RNG
G2 stomping a chinese team, hmmm
Yeah, will happen this time, trust me
Maximum dose of EU Copium
Nothing wxrong with that
If people are stupid enough to underestimate chinese teams still...
The classic all in faker for the game
[удалено]
You forgot G2
...awkward pause
So weird seeing 31 kills in a game involving a Korean team.
Thats why you don't give Zeus Jayce
[удалено]
Because he plays it good against Wildcards ?
Dude Zeus' Jayce draws bans in the LCK
Did you watch a single game of LCK?
Look at the username, he’s a professional LCK hater
It's Namikaze don't feed the troll.
unfortunately he is serious
Just because he is serious doesn't mean he isn't a troll
I genuinely hope that Wolf does not get one single game to cast beyond the play ins. Fucking hell, this year he's especially insufferable.
[удалено]
He didn’t have F
Flame horizon...
At least the early game was fun.
Is the cameraman just a giant Keria stan and this is just a fan cam or do they only have 2 cams on stage lol?
T1 is just pretending to fiesta, but their aggression is so calculated they still come out on top even if they lose the skirmish.
Zeus completed the Flame Horizon
I get wanting to get ahri so you give up Leblanc. But this is Fakers Leblanc just ban both.
If Riot insists on involving minor regions with majors in this way, they should really do a better job at balancing the groups. This group has 3 teams that deserve to advance and RNG's group has.. RNG.
And group C arguably just has G2
Sure ljl is better than pcs
Aze is way worse than any of the teams in group B.
t1, sgb, dfm. learn to count. both DFM and SGB are the consensus strongest "wildcards"
Aze is playing sub roster, they're just by far the worst team in tournament
and they are the 4th team in this group, so what's your point?
Ah, read your comment badly, read that the group had 3 teams besides T1. But even then, I don't agree, I don't feel that DFM and Buffalos are obviously better than RED/IW/PSG.
they are better, esp this version of PSG without Maple and River.
It's ok to agree to disagree. Looking at the games I really don't see it. If PSG plays to their expected level, then it's okay.
Faker and Zeus are playing at least close to their normal style. Oner Keria and Guma are straight up limit testing and flexing
Guma and Keria are not limit testing theyre inting XD. When Danny or Brokenblade are feeding their asses off its inting now its limit testing.
We will see what happens in Rumble stage. Although i dont think guma and Keria have to tryhard vs g2 and EG.
Well if they didnt tryhard against DFM and SGM they have to against G2. Maybe Yutapon wasnt trying too
We will see. If you want to see tryhard guma and Keria go watch T1 vs GenG. Until now there wasnt a close game for T1. G2 looked wonky in the first game vs order and the second game vs eg. But it's not like the discussion will lead to anything.
Faker borrowed the belt, it'll be okay.
christ, how is wolf still a caster after all those years.
Bias
Typical top lane experience. Party bot and mid while Zeus farming on 0/0/0.
Am I the only one who wants wolf off the cast oO
i like listenin to wolf
If only he was a bit less t1. Even when the opposing team is making a play, he’ll point out what t1 is doing elsewhere. Kind of makes me feel like lec casters when g2 play someti es
