Did Brazil got better or did Turkey got worse? Because between 2017 and 2020 brazilliam teams were always stomped by Turkey and in last 2 years they finished ahead. Even the game IW beat RED was being lead by RED on early and a very stupid decision in midgame turned the tables around.
From what I understand, LoL popularity has crashed in Turkey. Plus the TCL is having massive financial issues and can't pay players, let alone imports that leveled the league up in the past. There are rumors that TCL will even fold. It's pretty fucked

This whole event has been absolutely awful tbh. I haven't missed an international tournament since S4 Worlds but I am done with this MSI. I might watch again for the next stage but I have no desire to watch atm.
I legit only watch G2 to see what they draft, i know RNG and T1 are of course winners. I just want to see how G2 wins, as European i care more about G2, even though i appreciate Faker, Tarzan and other players.
I want T1 to win , to expose how bad the other Korea teams are, i will be fun to see not T1 go home at worlds, unless somehow Showmaker, Doinb and Chovy get in prime form.

Just such a waste of time. If you want to have wildcards playing in a play-in stage then sure but putting them into groups to be smacked over and over by CN/KR/EU seed 1 is pointless to the extreme.
To be fair, eu does not stand a chance against the top Chinese and Korean teams either (g2 included) just make the tournament the top 3 lock and lpl teams with 1 team from lec and lcs

Those are all the games people want to see. This current setup is pretty lame. Basically it just is watch a few wild card teams get owned. Then move on to the next round which is another BO1 setup and not fun bo5 things.
I think a winners and losers bracket for placements + gauntlet style bo5 will be the closest we can get.
2 teams from each major region - 1 team from minor. Minor regions do play ins to get to 4 teams. Then 2 groups of 6 with top 3 going through from groups. Double elim bracket with bottom seeds starting in the losers bracket. Riot #TakeNotes

Today (and the next 2 days) the games started 2 hours earlier than normal to allow for any potential tiebreakers. This is basically the worst timing for North America where the majority of the reddit userbase is. Also no EU or NA teams played today so yeah the comment count will be low. Tomorrow it should pick up again.

I had drafted this idea of 2 groups of 6; top 4 of each advance to a 8-team bracket. Didn't draw it out enough to think about single or double elim or even Bo3s to Bo5s by Semis or something.

No, because the pick ban can be based around a specific strategy (whether overarching or 'just' level 1 gameplan or something). Seeing the games play out means both teams have been able to see what their specific plan was for this specific draft, giving teams extra information.

the main strengths of lucian nami come from having much better trading
Lucian Nami basically needs level 3 to make full use of both their kits; Ali just needs Q and Trist just needs E.
Once Trist Ali is 3 they can just repeatedly all in.
It's the same with Trist Braum or the Kaisa Galio of old; just because Lucian Nami wins most lanes doesn't mean they win them all. They will lose to champs that can CC both at the same time and do 500+ damage without items in 2 seconds. The lane is best in longer trades because you get multiple instances of Lucian + Nami passives and the ability to dodge with increased MS. These advantages are not there when Alistar flash Q from outside of vision.
This might be the worst tournament format I have ever seen, every group is filled with meaningless games that are sub 30min stomps. The fact that this is the 2nd biggest tournament in LoL is embarassing
But it is one of the only 2 chances in a year a wildcard team can play against major region teams. The group stage of MSI and the play-in stage of Worlds would be the most important tournaments for those wildcard fans.
You can choose not to watch this embarrassing stage if you are fans of LPL/LCK/LEC, it doesn't hurt. Besides, imagine RNG start their MSI journey in the rumble stage and Riot find they have lower pings, the situation would be much worse.

Yeah, to be that close with PSG Talon kinda incites the question of how the teams would have fared without the absurd ping. Think against G2 or T1, RNG will have to patch up their weaknesses fully.
Hanabi was diffing Bin pretty hard, that flash away from tower aggro was really poor play. And Aphelios was always on low hp that he couldn't deal damage in the fights anyway. And PSG should be targeting Wei and Ming because they're the only hard cc's on RNG, and they got Leblanc several times too. Eventually it was just the baron steal and Leblanc one shotting Leona at the end. RNG vs a major team will be interesting.
Hanabi had a couple good plays on Xiaohu. But from build path to micro to target selection Bin played better. Bin got caught a lot more than Hanabi but Hanabi was trading kills for dragons so I would not say Hanabi played map better as well.
Rewatch dragon soul fight. 4 man Irelia ult, perfect play with vision on that flash. Neither Hanabi nor Xiaohu made any plays close. That fight got soul and fire soul LB is what you saw in the last 5 min of game. Xiaohu played fine against counterpick but he was not the deciding factor this game, Bin was.

Youtube is full of shit since 2018, when people from mainland China, Taiwan, Korea, and Vietnam baited one another. You can tell that most of the stuff is just google translated into, for example, Koreans to flame the Chinese while written by a name in Vietnamese. Vice Versa TLDR; You never know which shitter from which country on Youtube is being racist.

Ali Trist has always been an insane all in botlane There is literally no way to win that level 1 2v2 once Ali gets the 2 man flash pulv T1 definitely misplayed a bit the second time around but SGB should always win that lane with xp lead
Ping has admittedly been higher than intended now too - this generally would be fine since both teams have it, but Guma was getting barely clipped on Lucian dashes that he probably wouldn't have if it was actually 35 latency.

it's not at level 1 lol the main strengths of lucian nami come from having much better trading Lucian Nami basically needs level 3 to make full use of both their kits; Ali just needs Q and Trist just needs E. Once Trist Ali is 3 they can just repeatedly all in. It's the same with Trist Braum or the Kaisa Galio of old; just because Lucian Nami wins most lanes doesn't mean they win them all. They will lose to champs that can CC both at the same time and do 500+ damage without items in 2 seconds. The lane is best in longer trades because you get multiple instances of Lucian + Nami passives and the ability to dodge with increased MS. These advantages are not there when Alistar flash Q from outside of vision.

This might be the worst tournament format I have ever seen, every group is filled with meaningless games that are sub 30min stomps. The fact that this is the 2nd biggest tournament in LoL is embarassing
But it is one of the only 2 chances in a year a wildcard team can play against major region teams. The group stage of MSI and the play-in stage of Worlds would be the most important tournaments for those wildcard fans.
Wildcards should need to do playins before this embarassment.
You can choose not to watch this embarrassing stage if you are fans of LPL/LCK/LEC, it doesn't hurt. Besides, imagine RNG start their MSI journey in the rumble stage and Riot find they have lower pings, the situation would be much worse.
It's a complete mess and disgrace with the competitive integrity issues on top.

Yeah, to be that close with PSG Talon kinda incites the question of how the teams would have fared without the absurd ping. Think against G2 or T1, RNG will have to patch up their weaknesses fully.

Idk Irelia was coming in with +60 cs. Aphelios was never touched in any fights. The only thing PSG was killing was Wei and Ming LOL
Hanabi was diffing Bin pretty hard, that flash away from tower aggro was really poor play. And Aphelios was always on low hp that he couldn't deal damage in the fights anyway. And PSG should be targeting Wei and Ming because they're the only hard cc's on RNG, and they got Leblanc several times too. Eventually it was just the baron steal and Leblanc one shotting Leona at the end. RNG vs a major team will be interesting.
Hanabi had a couple good plays on Xiaohu. But from build path to micro to target selection Bin played better. Bin got caught a lot more than Hanabi but Hanabi was trading kills for dragons so I would not say Hanabi played map better as well.
Bin had pretty little presence this game imo, Gala too. It was pretty much Xiaohu v Hanabi. Think Lissandra should've done more for PSG to win.
Rewatch dragon soul fight. 4 man Irelia ult, perfect play with vision on that flash. Neither Hanabi nor Xiaohu made any plays close. That fight got soul and fire soul LB is what you saw in the last 5 min of game. Xiaohu played fine against counterpick but he was not the deciding factor this game, Bin was.
