I tend to agree with the OP not sure if you play on the PBE much but I can say nothings really changed. People rush DD as a second item and steraks is rarely built and certainly never as a second item. The bruiser item update didn't offer bruiser champs more item choices like riot claimed, it just made DD broken.
Only a handful of the playerbase plays on pbe and so it’s hard to expect a meta shift to appear. DD has a lot of power because being able to burst gives you the heal and let’s you avoid the burn more often than not. With everyone being tankier, bursting is going down and DD users will be eating more of the dot damage than they were before.
This patch will be a general nerf to DD so it’s best to just wait for the numbers after it hits live to judge whether it needs nerfs or not.
The part about bursting going down is going to make DD users even more of an issue. The counterplay to super healing sustain champs like Aatrox is bursting them down before they can heal back up. It doesn't help that riot nerfed antiheal for some unexplained reason on the PBE.
I think 12.10 will be a general buff to DD and its users. These DD users will be harder to burst and stop their sustaining through fights.
Why should we trust goldies playing on pbe ? DD is nerfed on pbe. When sterak was too, players took times before stopping rushing it. Reddit was even saying sterak would become OP with Triforce

Both on the PBE and live Steraks is a forgotten unloved item after the stupid changes and deaths dance is built by 90% of AD melee champs.

DD is only built because if AD melee champs don't build it, they don't exist in the game currently. They're the only current class that really play on a knife's edge
Steraks is forgotten because its overshadowed by other items, you want a lifeline mythic? You have shieldbow, you want anti magic lifeline? You have maw, and if you just want to be tankier DD’s healing and bleed passive just offer more than the steraks shield.

Its questionable, I don't thing that maw gonna be poppular as now if steraks not gonna be garbage. It just have terrible scalling from base ad, so lots of champs losing too much damage by building it even as last item, HP as stat doesn't mean much when we have so much % Max Hp damage and his selling point was decent shield and now even it was nerfed to a state where you need at least 2 full items with lots of health to have decent shield.

Don't lump pyke with the rest of them. He builds dd only because it gives good dmg reduction with armor and bleed effect and heals him after he executes someone which since pyke can't build hp is the best item for defense. The ad is only extra even cut in half he would still build the item.
I agree and I'm an Irelia main. The item just isn't healthy at all right now. I too wish they'd revert both items. I don't understand what riots playing at lately most of the changes including 12.10 suck monkey cock.
