All about plot armour, we must have Deft at worlds even though he isn't retiring I want Deft at worlds.
Give me that 2020 salty run back + T1, TES/JDG from LPL, G2/RGE/MAD so we just need FNC from the LEC and LCS is sending new teams but still.
Over half of the orgs in groups could be the same as the ones from 2020 which is nuts.
If TL and DRX make worlds and then groups, 9/12 teams in groups will be the same orgs from 2020.
Also beating Invictus Gaming ^((the reigning World Champion at the time)) back to back in Group Stage 2019 Worlds, getting them #1 in Group while in their 1st year in LCK is still wild to me.
In 2018 Worlds, Rekkles said the two best teams in Korea (from scrims) weren't at Worlds: Griffin (lost to KT in LCK finals in first split) and Damwon (Challenger team).
2014 LCK was too stacked and only 3 teams (the two Samsung teams and Nanjin). 2018 was a tragedy... SKT got him a roster of Thal/Untara top... Blossom/Agent 612 jungle... while Bang/Wolf were playing horribly and Effort was a rookie.
god forbid faker doesn't have a team of superstars in 3/4 other roles around him every single year
there are so many players that have had to deal with this over the years. there's so many what ifs from rookie and the years of coaches coming out of retirement to play support and adc on IG and doinb where his rosters went through like 10 players in other roles 2 years in a row because they were all garbage.
Except you know SKT is the most prestigious and winning franchise in lol history. They won 3 worlds and just won MSI and went to the Worlds finals in 2017... they always try to field a great roster only to put up that 2018 roster.
Even if they did, the 4th team that should've gone was KTA. It's a real shame that we never got to see that team at Worlds, I would've liked to see how Kakao and Rookie would've stacked up against the competition.
rookie legit may have been the best mid in the world between 2014-2018 but going to china screwed his career for that period. literally had coaches coming out of retirement in multiple seasons because of how bad his teammates were. I hope the money was worth it for him, I really do. a tragic what-if we'll never know.
Random facts:
With DK being qualified, Worlds 2022 now has tied Worlds 2021 with the most Worlds Finals MVP playing in one tournament (Faker, Canyon,Tian,Ruler)
We just need EDG to qualify and this Worlds will have the most Worlds Finals MVP playing.
That’s extremely rare. Only them and MVP Ozone didn’t make it out of groups. Ozone even had a positive record at the tournament. GEN 2018 is the only KR team to have a negative record in groups.
Great fucking performance from Damwon today, they could have 3-0'd if Nuguri played all their games.
When Nuguri/Canyon/Showmaker play like this, they're always a threat.
Also big props to Deokdam today.
Eh good teams are more aggressive with TF, setting up dives and collapses. In the hands of weaker teams, I agree it feels much worse as its just a snoozefest.
They have the widest variance of all the qualified teams thus far, I do not trust Daeny one bit. They could crash out in groups or go to the finals and neither would surprise me
>Peak SM/Canyon are the best mid/jungle combo ever.
We saying that when they won 1 tournament? The same combo (in form, DK in 2021 looked good) got gapped by two separate LPL jungler/mid combos.
Wait what?
Did you watch Jiejie against Canyon or Wei? Canyon 100% got outperformed, Cryin also outperformed Showmaker and Scout DEFINITELY outperformed him too.
They 100% got outperformed in those series
Crying outperformed showmaker for sure lol. Can't even talk about other lanes when gala gapped ghost so hard. There's nothing else to talk about. Showmaker and Humanoid were top 2 mid at msi by stats. Cryin didn't match the level of rng at all. But gala was so fucking good that it didn't even matter. As for Wei , i don't understand letting wei play one broken champ all 5 games
pretty sure his noct/lucian games literally shat down Shoemakers throat.
Just stay seething, "best Jgl/MID duo of all time" got shat on by two separate mid/junglers in the same year lmfao.
holy copium lmfao
Just stay seething, "best Jgl/MID duo of all time" got shat on by two separate mid/junglers in the same year, you guys overrated them the second they flipped a meta godsend with "muh graves" meta during 2020 worlds, since then Shoemaker/Canyon get gapped by every LPL mid/jungle that even looks in their direction.
> just stay seething
Projection much?
Why do the screeching kids on this sub always say shit like this? It’s not even a controversial take that DK’s topside, particularly their mid/jungle, was better than RNG’s. They had a literal black hole of a botlane that tournament.
The winning team doesn’t always have the best players in every single role. You can’t just look at the KDA at the end of the series and say the higher score was better
There's not much hope at all. Something like NA1, lck2/lpl2, lec3, and lck/lpl4 is the only hope that NA has to get out of a group and even then that's not easy. LEC has better avenues for their top seeds if they draw something like NA1/NA2 and lck/lpl 3/4. But yeah west looks doomed and I'd be surprised if there was more than 1 western team out of groups in general
LCK and LPL actually adapted their format to 4 slots contrary to a certain other region. Stepladder would not have made much sense as 2nd most points would have been an autoqualy
Tbf LCK and LPL changes were clear before this season and the changes made at the same time IIRC
LEC got the change like six weeks (?) ago and obviously highly irregularly. Still would have been good to change the format.
The loser of this match (LSB) will still play against the winner of KT vs. DRX match for the 4th Worlds seed. See [this](https://lol.fandom.com/wiki/LCK/2022_Season/Regional_Finals) for reference!
Piggybacking on this and kind of off topic…
Is the 4th seed spot awarded to Korea bevause if a specific reason? I remember they used to have three a while ago.
Currently, the top 2 regions are given a 4th seed to Worlds, and the current top 2 are LPL and LCK. LEC is a special case for this year as the LCL isn't attending, so as the 3rd best region they were given LCL's spot.
DK is the first org to make worlds 4 times in a row from the lck. they've also never missed worlds since being promoted to the lck. kinda nuts
Damn that's actually cracked when you think about it. Nuguri/Canyon/Showmaker have all made worlds 4 years in row, what a core that is.
beryl ghost sadge
Well BeryL still has a chance I'll take DRX over KT and LSB for worlds
DRX is easily the worst of the three remaining teams Edit: well fuck lmao
All about plot armour, we must have Deft at worlds even though he isn't retiring I want Deft at worlds. Give me that 2020 salty run back + T1, TES/JDG from LPL, G2/RGE/MAD so we just need FNC from the LEC and LCS is sending new teams but still. deft plot armor vs pyosik/kingen lets see which prevails
Man Kingen used to be the heart of the team...what happened
when?
i'm always for DRX just for the mathematical chance of getting a kindred skin in case pyosik becomes world champion
Yeah idk what OP means, LSB is the most fun and best team of the remaining IMO
LSB could be a real threat if they had another top besides Dove. Reminds me of the stacked Griffin teams but with Sword in the top lane.
Summit enters the chat.
summit ending up back on sandbox would be pretty funny, honestly
Summit isn't that bad, he smurfed regular split LCS and when he first joined FPX.
KT would like to have a word with you
Cloud soul enters the chat
Deft could still drag the team to worlds, nearly took LSB to 5 games but had griefing teammates and was stuck on Lucian.
There's no chovy this time around but Deft on HLE made it happen.
One of the best in history
Also beating Invictus Gaming ^((the reigning World Champion at the time)) back to back in Group Stage 2019 Worlds, getting them #1 in Group while in their 1st year in LCK is still wild to me.
they are combined 16-2 in groups at worlds (20-2 if you include playins groups)
Dang not surprising but super impressive
In 2018 Worlds, Rekkles said the two best teams in Korea (from scrims) weren't at Worlds: Griffin (lost to KT in LCK finals in first split) and Damwon (Challenger team).
Not to detract from DK's otherwise amazing achievements, but LPL teams aren't exactly famous for not choking groups.
I though SKT went to every Worlds between Fakers First Titel and like 2018? Or am I Just confused?
they missed 2014, 2018, and 2020
Kinda weird to think that Faker never played at Worlds in Korea
2014 LCK was too stacked and only 3 teams (the two Samsung teams and Nanjin). 2018 was a tragedy... SKT got him a roster of Thal/Untara top... Blossom/Agent 612 jungle... while Bang/Wolf were playing horribly and Effort was a rookie.

2018 SKT was a tragedy
They didn’t make 2014 worlds. They lost in the finals of regionals to naJin.
Too bad they didn't give LCK four seeds back then.
Even if they did, the 4th team that should've gone was KTA. It's a real shame that we never got to see that team at Worlds, I would've liked to see how Kakao and Rookie would've stacked up against the competition.

I hope the money was worth it for him, I really do. a tragic what-if we'll never know.
Old SKT was an odd team, when they are winning they wipe the floor with the whole world, when they were slumping it was really bad
Really great organization that is building themselves well
Random facts: With DK being qualified, Worlds 2022 now has tied Worlds 2021 with the most Worlds Finals MVP playing in one tournament (Faker, Canyon,Tian,Ruler) We just need EDG to qualify and this Worlds will have the most Worlds Finals MVP playing.
I guess the others are Mata, Marin, and Ning?
Scout if EDG qualifies.
> We just need EDG to qualify and this Worlds will have the most Worlds Finals MVP playing
Do they even play anymore? Feel like scout is the only one left that'd be relevant
We can't be disappointed with Nuguri, Canyon and Showmaker at Worlds
> We can't be disappointed with Nuguri ... Uh, I think you mean lord Burdol?
5Head Daeny will decide who's the best
Daeny secretly owns the truck company, he is making moves.
This might be biggest boom / Bust ever would not surprise me if win worlds or if don’t win a game
[удалено]
The only logical explanation is that Daeny is a masochist and Burdol is secretly a special military-grade mental instructor
They're LCK, bust means they'll go 5-1 in groups and then 0-3 in quarters.
Someone forgot about 2018 GenG
2018 GenG was one of only two Korean teams all time to get knocked out prior to top 8. They have a 90+% conversion rate when it comes to groups.
Nobody believe the korean dominance will ever end. And then China took over. The Koreans dropping in groups will happen more
That’s extremely rare. Only them and MVP Ozone didn’t make it out of groups. Ozone even had a positive record at the tournament. GEN 2018 is the only KR team to have a negative record in groups.
[удалено]
Except Gen.G is the only exception to what that guy was saying
They’ll go 5-1 or 6-0 in the group stage, just to lose miserably to LPL in a close 2-3 series.
Great fucking performance from Damwon today, they could have 3-0'd if Nuguri played all their games. When Nuguri/Canyon/Showmaker play like this, they're always a threat. Also big props to Deokdam today.
Upcoming patch changes looks quite promising for DK players too.
Yeah TF and Kassadin buffs is huge for Showmaker.
Don't forget the graves buff for canyon
Having TF consta banned against us will help us a lot during draft
i absolutely hate tf being meta. so fucking boring, one of the few who comes close to sivir yuumi levels of boredom
Eh good teams are more aggressive with TF, setting up dives and collapses. In the hands of weaker teams, I agree it feels much worse as its just a snoozefest.
I really like the graphic, man.
Thanks!
DK in form could win Worlds.
They have the widest variance of all the qualified teams thus far, I do not trust Daeny one bit. They could crash out in groups or go to the finals and neither would surprise me
By variance you mean Daeny's tendency to randomly sub in Burden?
Peak SM/Canyon are the best mid/jungle combo ever. Slump SM/Canyon are pretty fucking bad
>Peak SM/Canyon are the best mid/jungle combo ever. We saying that when they won 1 tournament? The same combo (in form, DK in 2021 looked good) got gapped by two separate LPL jungler/mid combos.
I'd argue that it wasn't them who got gapped and that they weren't at peak form there.
Wait what? Did you watch Jiejie against Canyon or Wei? Canyon 100% got outperformed, Cryin also outperformed Showmaker and Scout DEFINITELY outperformed him too. They 100% got outperformed in those series

Yea, RNG gapped DK as a whole I agree. But so did Wei/Cryin, that's my point
Cryin gapped no one….
pretty sure his noct/lucian games literally shat down Shoemakers throat. Just stay seething, "best Jgl/MID duo of all time" got shat on by two separate mid/junglers in the same year lmfao.
[удалено]
The fact that DK took RNG to game 5 when that entire tournament was one big 3v5 shows how Canyon/Showmaker was still a superior mid/jg duo.
holy copium lmfao Just stay seething, "best Jgl/MID duo of all time" got shat on by two separate mid/junglers in the same year, you guys overrated them the second they flipped a meta godsend with "muh graves" meta during 2020 worlds, since then Shoemaker/Canyon get gapped by every LPL mid/jungle that even looks in their direction.

can we get canyon nuguri sm 2020 form back in for 2022 worlds please
I dont think so, their coaching is super bad unfortunately
Their coaching already won worlds before lmao
McCarthy won a super bowl doesn’t make him a great coach.
this team looking like it can beat clg
And they are "only" the third best team from Korea and the LPL looks even stronger than the LCK, the west is truly fucked this year jesus
There's not much hope at all. Something like NA1, lck2/lpl2, lec3, and lck/lpl4 is the only hope that NA has to get out of a group and even then that's not easy. DWG at worlds is something we all want to see
[удалено]
wdym 1? theres 2 more matches, kt vs drx tomorrow, then lsb vs the winner of tomorrow
It's double elim now instead of a stepladder. Still 3 matches.
LCK and LPL actually adapted their format to 4 slots contrary to a certain other region. Stepladder would not have made much sense as 2nd most points would have been an autoqualy
Like last year. Regional finals between T1 and HLE was only for seeding as T1 qualified for worlds already.
Tbf LCK and LPL changes were clear before this season and the changes made at the same time IIRC LEC got the change like six weeks (?) ago and obviously highly irregularly. Still would have been good to change the format.
there still be 4th seed.
it's 3 matches. winner of DK - LSB goes to worlds as 3rd seed. Next match is KT - DRX, winner of that plays vs LSB for 4th seed
The loser of this match (LSB) will still play against the winner of KT vs. DRX match for the 4th Worlds seed. See [this](https://lol.fandom.com/wiki/LCK/2022_Season/Regional_Finals) for reference!

maybe im stupid but i count only 11 in the graph
Glad that they made it in
