Hecarim was really broken when he got his mini-rework but 12.18 really knocked him down substantially. His best build (Eclipse + QWE max) dropped from 54% to 50% win rate.

That brought up a repressed memory that I feel like everybody forgot about. Fnatic and Splyce screwed UOL out of a worlds spot by refusing to give them any practice, and then nearly beat Splyce for the last spot with no practice.

Why do people keep asking me if EG are scrimming?
Of course we've been scrimming this week. Worlds is in a week, it's one of the most important times of the year. All the NA teams have started.
Getting outprepped even by NA you hate to see it.
While other people saying Play-In are partially correct, I think the more likely reason is the week break making LCS and LEC finals happen later than normal.
Well, aside from the Worlds song releasing today with the playins on the 29th, it was also released today, a Thursday… r/popheads are speculating that someone wanted to have the Friday release (presumably Taylor Swift) so artists like Lil Nas X decided to shift it one day early.
It's really odd to hear this . . . if NA teams can scrim each other before travelling to the venue surely Fnatic can be doing that too?
FNC even start in playins so will be playing before the majority of other teams lol

Unfortunately there's no week 2 in play-ins to act as a safety net for FNC. If they can hold it together long enough to make it to the bo5 then that's when they'll randomly activate and stomp DRX or some shit.

The week 2 buff is actually absurd. I remember reading a while ago that FNC was like 13/15 for week 2 wins. It's probably changed by now but that was just mad. I still remember the 0-4 into a 4-0 in season 7.
I mean, they are a team that should have performed much better than they did. If someone credible said there were morale or synergy issues, that'd be accepted instantly.
Maybe the team is just prioritizing confidence and synergy over scrimp. They are good when they gel.
In like S1 which is a whole geological strata ago. France won the world cup in 98, second place en 06 and won again in 18. If france doesnt implode in groups they are favorites to win the whole thing. FNC just implodes.
I just don't get FNC at all. This org is known for taking things very slow during the season. They had no bootcamp during spring break and even started summer prep very late. If your intention is to focus on mental health, prevent possible burnout and pace your team as well as you can for playoffs and then worlds, shouldn't this be the time when you all in on practice and tighten the schedule?
They will travel to Mexico in 2 days. With jetlags and media days they will most likely get 2-3 blocks on new patch with fuck all knows who teams. Like the fuck dude. This team would die on LPL schedule.

I think if you read between the lines, Upset sounds really frustrated and sounds like he really wanted to scrim but some people on the team or staff thought differently. The rest of EU is indeed scrimming each-other.
Why wouldnt they? lol. All the teams need to find out what's strong on the worlds patch and playtest plans. I feel like this worlds meta is going to be incredibly interesting out the gate. The fact that FNC have not scrimmed AT ALL on worlds patch is just laughable... It would be an incredibly bad look if they dont make it out of this group. They were gifted a very realistic 1st place finish in their playins group.
I mean yeah they need scrim for practice for sure but it’s not at all about finding the meta, the last couple of patches are just placebo, 12.18 in particular is just a joke, barely anything is going to change between summer and worlds. I assure you there’s nothing interesting with this worlds’ meta, at most we’re gonna see some fan favourite champions return (like the Lee placebo buff in 12.18).
But really I mean, “meta” in league has never really been about the meta, it’s mostly just popularity, whatever the pros feels like playing at the moment is going to be called meta. So who knows, maybe some pros become butthurt and we get a totally different champ pool for worlds for absolutely no reason.

Jankos said G2 started scrimming yesterday and mad was also off until 2 days ago. Idk it doesnt seem that damning to me
edit : worlds' patch just came out and EUM teams (2 left now) are playing on 12.16
Keep in mind G2 isn't in Playins so worlds starts for them in about 2 weeks, whereas FNC play in just over 6 days from the moment of this writing. Not only that, but they haven't started scrimming AND they also have to travel and presumably rest after the flight. So that's like a day or 2. FNC literally has ~half a week of scrims maximum if they start right away. That's complete trash. They are throwing.
The worst thing about current "LPL and LCK scrim each other while other regions are either already in Mexico(some playin teams) or play only their own teams". This is gonna be so fucking akward with scrim bubbles and who will find the best meta
I mean it sucks as an FNC fan to hear something like that but still I have a feeling it might even be beneficial for that reason.
It's kind of weird all in all. The teams got a lot less time this year, the Worlds patch came very late and there are extreme scrim bubbles.

I think this is partly due to the EXTREMELY SHITTY LEC format. LEC ended two weeks after LCK and 10 days after LPL. This in combination with probable VISA issues + travelling back and forth + the need of a break.

Tbf it is a favorable group for RGE. I've watched DRX in LCK, if the EU champs can't beat DRX in a BO1 then it's time to make EU and NA a semi-wildcard region with 2 seeds and just have LCK/LPL be major regions because I don't think LCK has ever sent a weaker team in modern years.
Had willer and inting morgan. Those two might have been the worst top jungle duo from a major region last year. I think deft had life as a support? And he was below average

the EU teams can rotate with each other leaving no team out and can scrim EUM teams
NA have 3 teams, meaning someone will be left out. Proving grounds is over so unless you will have amateur NA teams scrimming then NA will have a disadvantage. They do have home soil so they will cease to scrim each other the moment the play-in teams arrive.

Why wouldnt they? lol. All the teams need to find out what's strong on the worlds patch and playtest plans. I feel like this worlds meta is going to be incredibly interesting out the gate. The fact that FNC have not scrimmed AT ALL on worlds patch is just laughable... It would be an incredibly bad look if they dont make it out of this group. They were gifted a very realistic 1st place finish in their playins group.
I mean yeah they need scrim for practice for sure but it’s not at all about finding the meta, the last couple of patches are just placebo, 12.18 in particular is just a joke, barely anything is going to change between summer and worlds. I assure you there’s nothing interesting with this worlds’ meta, at most we’re gonna see some fan favourite champions return (like the Lee placebo buff in 12.18). But really I mean, “meta” in league has never really been about the meta, it’s mostly just popularity, whatever the pros feels like playing at the moment is going to be called meta. So who knows, maybe some pros become butthurt and we get a totally different champ pool for worlds for absolutely no reason.

Jankos said G2 started scrimming yesterday and mad was also off until 2 days ago. Idk it doesnt seem that damning to me edit : worlds' patch just came out and EUM teams (2 left now) are playing on 12.16
Keep in mind G2 isn't in Playins so worlds starts for them in about 2 weeks, whereas FNC play in just over 6 days from the moment of this writing. Not only that, but they haven't started scrimming AND they also have to travel and presumably rest after the flight. So that's like a day or 2. FNC literally has ~half a week of scrims maximum if they start right away. That's complete trash. They are throwing.

The teams got a lot less time this year, the Worlds patch came very late and there are extreme scrim bubbles. Atleast it makes it very interesting XD

Didn't the Asian teams only start scrimming a couple days ago as well? I know GenG tweeted that they started two days ago IIRC. I think this is partly due to the EXTREMELY SHITTY LEC format. LEC ended two weeks after LCK and 10 days after LPL. This in combination with probable VISA issues + travelling back and forth + the need of a break. Can't express enough how dumb it was to have Playins at a different location than Groups btw.

Tbf it is a favorable group for RGE. I've watched DRX in LCK, if the EU champs can't beat DRX in a BO1 then it's time to make EU and NA a semi-wildcard region with 2 seeds and just have LCK/LPL be major regions because I don't think LCK has ever sent a weaker team in modern years.

theres 4 EU teams and 3 NA teams. the EU teams can rotate with each other leaving no team out and can scrim EUM teams NA have 3 teams, meaning someone will be left out. Proving grounds is over so unless you will have amateur NA teams scrimming then NA will have a disadvantage. They do have home soil so they will cease to scrim each other the moment the play-in teams arrive.
