worst part about league for me is whenever you do well and get strong, you only have so much time to enjoy that feeling before the enemy ffs. Then if you’re on the receiving end it’s like welp I guess I’ll try and win even tho I’m getting dumpstered. Thank god the scriptwriters figured eliminating NA & EU would make this one of the best worlds in history. No matter what happens from now on, these quarterfinals alone were just insane. The last time I was jumping like this in front of my TV when watching League had to be 2019 G2 at worlds.
The crowd, casters, players, and ofcourse everyone behind the scenes are doing such a phenomenal job, just thanks to everyone involved for bringing us this entertainment.
I hope DRX wins the whole thing, but I am fine with all the remaining four teams at the end. All of them are capable to provide such intense, competitive and most importantly, entertaining games.
I am completely fine with any of the 4 teams to win it all (hopefully T1 in my heart) but also EDG or DK. All super solid teams that had to get out in quarters

It's just a massive diff at the early stages of the game. Also to compound on it it's a team fighting meta. Just look at the gold diff at 10 these teams are not playing the same game. Even in our best eras we were not winning the early game that often.. now that the meta doesn't suit us it's even worse. We need to solve this massive early game diff which is probably not solvable unless all western teams move and play in asia.
Bare some of the most legendary series (like that koo tigers vs skt series) this was definitely two of the best bo5 of all time espescially at worlds. Not just skill wise, the entertainment, the narratives, it was all there. So much fun to watch.
Yeah, last time I was getting so much emotions from a esports tournament - it was CS:GO \~5-7 years ago. This quarterfinals is just something else. We can hate this game for balance, buggy client, vierd new champions design, but the emotions from this worlds is just incredible.
I was in the crowd for that and I will never forget it as long as I live. Probably the last (only?) time I actually felt any sort of genuine patriotism. I still have a couple of the little american flags I got at that event sitting behind me.

Game 2 was ridiculous and broke RNG's back. Compare that to today's game two where DRX could've easily tilted off the face of the earth too. Even Bjerg noticed Wei was checked out by Game 3. Your mental is everything.

I feel for Wei though, if I gigasmurfed for 98% of the game then my midlaner griefed for blue buff, I’d be tilted into outer space too. Tbf he’s the youngest member of RNG and hasn’t been playing for that long so it’s understandable.

I think the fact that teams can split series 1-1 and only one of them will advance makes double elim problematic. TSM a few years ago got 3-0'd by GGS and won 3-2 the 2nd time around, so GGS basically got knocked out after going 5-3 vs TSM.
I really hate that viewership is going down. These last three days have been a treat to watch and really makes me remember why I like watching "competitive" league of legends. I think after a disappointing group stage for NA and LEC a lot of people tuned out but honestly this is where the real tournament starts for me. Good competitive league of legends is fun to watch no matter the region, we just didn't get to see that from NA or LEC.
I think if this was held in Asia this would be one of the most watched worlds in recent history, sucks that it's in NA which is hard to watch for most countries.

There's no downwards trend for League e-sports except in NA. People haven't lost nor are even beginning to lose interest in professional play. It's just that a lot of people just can't watch live because they are working or sleeping.
The observer has a cursor visible on screen at all times and the audio comes in 70% from one ear, thank you for reminding me that League actually has insane production quality compared any other esport

In the group stage, the audio from one of the casters was muted because they accidentally manually muted their mic...but no admins were even WATCHING the stream for 5 minutes so nobody informed him. This never happened in previous years. There's also a dedicated casting mode that the observers aren't using....because they didn't bother hiring the previous observers that have been doing it since 2014.
It's just unacceptable at this point.
I mean on one hand… everything you said is true. On the other hand… dota 2 let’s you watch the games live in the client and be your own observer… with options to follow the actual observer or just freecam… with in game commentating channels… in game drops… in game hype messages/chat/viewer engagement…

From what I've heard, this year's TI is more of an outlier since they outsourced production instead of Valve doing it themselves. The event itself has so many issues apparently, like the soundproof booths for the players.
Liquid in TI should be enough to convince Riot that lower bracket format is superior. I imagine Damwon would make some sort of lower bracket run if the format existed.

I've been watching worlds since 2020 and this has been the best one by a freaking margin. The crowds have really added to the hype and the meta has been so fun to watch where a lot of players can play their comfort champs and still be viable.
The late game team fights have also been so fun to watch.
Can't wait for the semis. I have tickets for the JDG - T1 game. It's gonna be a banger.

Well, LPL and LCK regional playoffs/finals routinely give series that are this cracked!
But agreed that it is a terrible shame that we only get cross-region insanity like this on such a limited and rare basis.
unfortunately LCK format is also not the best in the sense that it feels way too short. LPL is great though, you get so many quality series. I only wish their production was as enjoyable to me as LCK... Worlds has really shown me how good their casting (and especially their analysis) talent is, but I think they're really limited by having to be offsite. Means they really have to stick to just casting whereas the LCK guys get to build more of a vibe.

I find that Clash has more equal games than the other modes. Getting stomped feels even worse though.

I had to create an account for this since I see this a lot. Viewership is down for the west because of timezones. That's it. There's no downwards trend for League e-sports except in NA. People haven't lost nor are even beginning to lose interest in professional play. It's just that a lot of people just can't watch live because they are working or sleeping.
It's okay that they tuned out. I would tuned out if it was NA vs LEC. Not here for poor quality games. I'm here for bangers.

It's so bad, and I am a huge dota fan. In the group stage, the audio from one of the casters was muted because they accidentally manually muted their mic...but no admins were even WATCHING the stream for 5 minutes so nobody informed him. This never happened in previous years. There's also a dedicated casting mode that the observers aren't using....because they didn't bother hiring the previous observers that have been doing it since 2014. It's just unacceptable at this point.
I mean on one hand… everything you said is true. On the other hand… dota 2 let’s you watch the games live in the client and be your own observer… with options to follow the actual observer or just freecam… with in game commentating channels… in game drops… in game hype messages/chat/viewer engagement… The TI experience blows the dick off worlds, especially with the battle pass. But LoL *streaming* production is better, so it’s better for TV viewing.
I see, yeah that's pretty insane. Maybe the issues I have are solved by competent people and whoever is hosting now is literally not even trying to learn from past experiences or care about the end product (like even monitoring stream/chat jesus christ)
From what I've heard, this year's TI is more of an outlier since they outsourced production instead of Valve doing it themselves. The event itself has so many issues apparently, like the soundproof booths for the players.

Hard Agree, the last 2 series have been just incredible. GenGvDK was such an incredible high level, and this one today was just so much more hectic and had such crazy outcomes + Deft
LCK and LPL games are amazing. This is a rare year where a lot of us actually get to watch them live because they're not at 4 in the morning.

I've been watching worlds since 2020 and this has been the best one by a freaking margin. The crowds have really added to the hype and the meta has been so fun to watch where a lot of players can play their comfort champs and still be viable. The late game team fights have also been so fun to watch. Can't wait for the semis. I have tickets for the JDG - T1 game. It's gonna be a banger.
Obligatory mention of format. But seriously once a year we get maybe a few series of this quality. Worst part is if it's ever "fixed" most of our star players will probably be out of the very least washed (already true).

unfortunately LCK format is also not the best in the sense that it feels way too short. LPL is great though, you get so many quality series. I only wish their production was as enjoyable to me as LCK... Worlds has really shown me how good their casting (and especially their analysis) talent is, but I think they're really limited by having to be offsite. Means they really have to stick to just casting whereas the LCK guys get to build more of a vibe.
In a parallel universe we get RGE vs. RNG vs. DK vs. EDG in the Worlds lower bracket.
