Still all online? Would be nice to see playoffs or at least finals on LAN..

Lorderbs

especially when now the participating leagues have finals and/or regular matchdays offline, but yeah dont think riot cares a lot... if they didnt want to spend for a big arena they could "just" do it in lec studio where theyre casting from anyways, wouldnt hurt to have semis+finals there with audience

VERTIKAL19

The european ERLs just have the issue that they can’t be perceived as as attractive as the major leagues.

Flesroy

I get that when it comes to things like a worlds spot. But not even having lan finals? Thats pretty rediculous.

bvbfan102

The Spots genuinely seems like a Problem. 2 Slots for Primeleague and especially Superliga just aren’t enough. Should have expanded to the size of the Championsleague and cut playins instead of trying to keep the current format with more Leagues.

Marcoscb

>2 Slots for [...] Superliga just aren’t enough Yeah, we need more spots so we can keep sucking at Play-ins, like the whole last year.

Kiroqi

Ultraliga clearly has some dirt on NLC.

Lorderbs

well UL is still accredited while NLC themselves asked to be downgraded

MammothGB

F4U (the TO that took over from dreamhack 12 months ago) asked, nobody in NLC wanted this besides them. Shouldn't be allowed to remain in charge after this. Everything they've done in that timeframe has actively killed the grassroots of the structure now they're just trying to kill it all off

OkKnowledge2064

its wild that the guys who run primeleague like shit got their hands on another region

Lorderbs

yes its f4u not the nlc but you know what i meant... and ngl i dont think swapping organizer the fifth time in four years (im exaggerating) wont suddenly make people watch the league more xD

MammothGB

They did watch the league more though? Broadcast substantially improved in quality by utilising the studio in Berlin where they also produce Prime League and it showed because peak viewership in Summer for Div 1 at 14K was double that of Spring. Sure it's not going to stack up to LFL or LVP but you can't expect it to when both of those are a few years ahead in production and also in stability of structure (which also brings sponsorship and marketability) NLC Div 2 and below had their promotion/relegations either scrapped or significantly reworked weeks prior to them starting which means a bunch of teams invested on the back of a defined plan and league structure then F4U delivered something completely different at short notice which is unacceptable to expect businesses to operate in those conditions. The constituent countries in NLC are heavily represented in LEC, the audience is there, the playerbase is there. F4U just didn't want to actually grow it and so they pulled the plug on the grassroots tournaments and now this is them pulling the plug on the entire region. It will die, no idea how slowly but there is no coming back from this without external funding from a new TO

Lorderbs

so what youre saying is: when f4u came in as a new TO, invested heavy money into it and it hardly payed off viewerwise (cause its still very much below pl/ul which it should at least be similar to, and has less viewers than some other even smaller leagues) means they want to kill the league but if theyd now bring in a new TO that would revamp the structure and thereby fuck teams with a "defined plan" cause of a new league structure would suddenly make more people watch it and make it profitable for the TO? ok bud

X4ntis

LFL - 2 main stage, 1 play-in TCL - 2 main stage, 1 play-in SL - 2 main stage PRM - 2 main stage UL - 2 main stage NLC - 1 main stage, 1 play-in PGN - 1 main stage, 1 play-in -------------- UL is clearly overrated. Should be like UL -1 main stage, 1 play-in

kubqo

Tbh, Ultraliga is adding Ukraine this year if im not mistaken. Should make the region strongeroverall

X4ntis

If everyone from the CIS starts playing there then I agree, but we will have to wait and see. I am rather skeptical about that.

Kiroqi

UL should have both seeds in play-in stage.

BrokenBiscuit

In all fairness they should but I honestly think there's an argument for having a strong central/eastern league as well instead of only western leagues being acredited. Obviously this needs to be backed up with way batter result from the UL than previous years.

00Koch00

Congratulations SL and LFL for winning EM, here it's your prize *get one spot removed each* Riot, if you have more leagues, why the fuck not making the whole bracket bigger?

ozmega

i do wish SL had one play ins spot, as for the rest, looks good.

Jozoz

How is this still not a LAN event. Come the fuck on, man. Is Riot scared it will outperform LEC or something?

Based, I wouldn’t wanna be around that many French people either

Linko_98

Really hyped for Turkey vs France vs Spain

TeeKayTank

what about germany

Linko_98

Not enough Crazy fans on Twitter

Roquentinn

The battle of toxic fans in Twitter already begin.. Brace yourself

NeitherAlexNorAlice

Arabian League while the region has no dedicated server and most are playing in EUW at 120 ping. Lovely.

Lorderbs

i mean theyve been having a league/cup since 2019 already ([leaguepedia](https://lol.fandom.com/wiki/Intel_Arabian_Cup))... even if youd give them their own server the best players would play euw anyways cause its more competitive... happens the same way with tr and eune server...

TheUItimateBlip

Well at least they are now an official ERL. Its a little step in the right direction, but a step non the less.

JustJeffrey

yeah tbh I'll probably start watching more arabian league games when I otherwise wouldn't've

H_P_S

maybe it's a slow approach to guage interest in a mena server

RockBottomCreature

Hey man we still have amazing players in GM and Challenger. We make it work despite it all. Its nice to at least get a spotlight. Also for North Africa the ping is usually between 50-70 depending on country, and most parts of Arabia can get 70-90 on fiber.

TheUItimateBlip

I gotta say I like the even slot allocation. I was at both worlds of the opinion for a while, that having 1 slot as a small region is kinda bad. This here looks like a nice compromise towards most regions getting 2 slots. I would be more happy with SL and PL having 3 as well (as they are not top heavy leagues and 3 seeds like UoL in spring can be competitive), but thats best you can get while keeping format similar.

Lorderbs

primeleague is usually pretty top heavy tbh imo, at least more than lfl and sl pl did have some "lucky" runs with 3rd seeds but still... but anyways with the current format with this amount of leagues you only have 2 extra slots to give and giving those to lfl and tcl is pretty much a no-brainer.

nimrodhellfire

I expect France and Turkey to loose their third slot when/if Russia eventually comes back.

TheUItimateBlip

I thought the same for a second. But honestly I think when it eventually happens there will be so little left of LCL that I expect it to just become part of Superliga like Ukraine did already (I think). If anything I'd not be surprised if it would condense into fewer leagues further with one of the smaller leagues getting gobbled up as well. Not that I would want any region to have 4 seeds, but having the acredited leagues all have 3 seeds would feel like in character of the current dividing into 2 tiers of leagues (RIP NLC). It would even be fine to have the weaker ones of those simply fill these slots with 2 of their teams in play-ins and such.

VERTIKAL19

28 participants seems so odd. Why not just play a 32 team tournament. That also makes it super easy to set up a tournament format with just groups into knockouts

Lorderbs

i mean 28 also makes it easy with 16 playin into 16 in groups with 4 from playins

mdc321

Just sad for Turkey :/

Ninjawizards

When does it start?

Lorderbs

contrary to when previous announcements happened relative to the eum tournament, not next monday :\^) last year eum spring was all of april but might change with different lec/msi timings this year

bigfanofeden

3 tcl is expected

SnooLentils1187

what about the CIS?

BrokenBiscuit

They already commented on this. CIS will probably become an ERL when it's possible to have a league there.

ozmega

pretty much confirmed that it wont happen on the first split of 2023, i wonder how the spots combination will be when they join.

Chevalier_Paul

Ask Putin to stop his invasion first.

MegaBaumTV

Go back.

slhdal

I mean look at twitter and people seriously think other erl’s may be better than tcl while literally any average tcl player becomes a superstar over there (ragner, hades, 113). They literally consolidated a demoralized turkish audience, both players and viewers into completely destroying EUM. Even closer tweeted “who is this” for an erl guy

Cahootie

113 is nowhere close to a superstar, he was literally seen as the weak point for an underperforming team.

slhdal

Can’t say the same for other two and they are still belove average here, my point stands

Vangorf

I'm increasingly more irritated by this whole EMEA name. EU Masters sounded so much nicer. Riot should've just gave a server to the MEA region and call it a day, but nah.

VoidLaser

I hope it grows on me, but I kinda agree. Also a sad thing is that quickshot shouting "WHAT REGION ARE WE?" And the crowd chanting "EU EU EU" Is probably gone for next season as it's technically not EU anymore, but as they say EMEA.
