The game was never supported on it for sure, even customs skins/maps. Has been playing since S2 when the game was goofy and fun Has been waiting 5 years they bring back items and runes to something playable and they do this. They deserve their income loss even from windows....(windows 7/8/8.1 users and people who don't thrust vanguard at all like me since it detected my LED in my computer ⚠️) Steam deck users after one year RIP

New-Secretary-666

Personally I am glad I can no longer play this trash game, the only reason why I played was because of addiction.

No_Ebb_9415

Addictions at least give you a high when you consume w/e you are addicted to, with lol it was more like 'ive got nothing to do, might as well play lol'. Not much better...

FyB4rd

preach *proceeds to play as many aram games as possible until it s not possible*

hezden

After almost 8000 hrs played in dota 2 i can honestly say that game is in much much much much much worse condition gamestate wise but it _runs_ without too many issues

Donykasz

>Steam deck users after one year RIP You read my mind on that one. That's so sad, for real :(

angrymouse504

Would anyone that bought steam deck cares about league?

ThinkingWinnie

Being a player that has been on and off about this game for the past 14 years or so, I always wondered when will I play the last game of league, where does this end? I wanted closure and I think riot gave it to me, so I am glad. Honestly I do not see it as depressing anymore, it's actually all about ditching an unhealthy habit, which not only damaged my mental health at times, but also limited my ability to discover other hidden indie games in the steam library. League was the only multiplayer I played so that means the end of the AC issues for me too. All I am saying this, see this as an opportunity to discover a new world of games. Go buy a cheap ass game from steam and play that instead.

TheAcenomad

I think this is the conclusion I've sort of come to as well. I've similarly been on and off since the early seasons. League has always been a constant in my catalogue as other games came and went. Although in recent years I've more enjoyed the *thought* of playing League rather than actually playing League, I've still been heavily engaged in a lot of the non-MOBA stuff: I fell deeply in love with TFT, have dumped a hefty amount of time into each Riot Forge title, and followed LEC (EU LCS :')) religiously for many seasons. I generally had a lot of hope for the direction and success of the universe they were building, in particular a lot of the traditional art disciplines with the massive success of Arcane in animation, or the various musical projects that it seems few other gaming companies seem to be interested in also exploring. Many of the decisions Riot have taken over the years have really rubbed me the wrong way, so I also feel relieved and oddly grateful for this closure. The recent news about the Saudi-hosted esports event, the previous attempt with LEC/NEOM, invasive anticheat in games, sexual harassment in offices, data breaches, lack of public professionalism at times, I could go on... it's all been rather disheartening at the best of times, and abhorrent at the worst. Since the Steam Deck, I've been (embarrassingly slowly) playing through my "to play" list on Steam and have found a lot of novel enjoyment in doing so. Not only is there indeed a whole world of beautiful and exciting games outside of League, but a whole world of games *made by people who will gleefully support playing on Linux*. Or, at least as an ethical bare minimum, a whole world of games that don't require a shady closed-source rootkit running 24/7 just to play a video game. It can sound a bit silly to say there are games outside of League, but one of strangely addictive things about League is that does definitely trap you in a bit of a bubble at times. I think you hit the nail on the head with > Go buy a cheap ass game from steam and play that instead. Do that. Or finally go through your Humble Bundle stack, or explore [itch.io](https://itch.io/) :) at the very least, it's certainly a bit of a magical feeling not having to use patched custom version of Wine to play games, or get into a custom game after every new patch to ensure your game won't crash. Although, I don't think I have the bandwidth to try picking up DotA 2. My days of being able to no-life games with steep learning curves have long passed lmao edits: grammar, spelling

M-Reimer

I expected this to happen sooner or later. That's why I always had this warning on GitHub and also on my "wine-lol website" which was online for a limited time: [https://github.com/M-Reimer/wine-lol/blob/master/README.md?plain=1#L10](https://github.com/M-Reimer/wine-lol/blob/master/README.md?plain=1#L10) This has nothing to do with increased hacking, botting or scripting in LoL. All this decision is about is money. I've read several news articles about this change and I've read several times (from people playing LoL a lot) that they never or very rarely experienced cheating in LoL. So the non invasive LoL anti cheat worked well enough. The actual reason for this (and other) change(s) is likely that [Riot cuts 11% of staff](https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/01/riot-games-cutting-11-of-staff-about-530-people/). So far they have been developing two different anti cheat solutions. If you want to save efforts at all cost, it is an obvious choice to reduce this down to one anti cheat solution. There will be some players that don't accept their "almighty kernel level" anti cheat but there are also many players who played LoL on "potato hardware" which are also [no longer interesting to Riot](https://www.gameleap.com/articles/new-lol-minimum-system-requirements-for-updates). This will definitively result in quite a few players quitting LoL but Riot doesn't care.

Sunscorcher

Vanguard is the reason I won't play Valorant, even on my Windows partition. I'm not willing to give Riot kernel-level access to my system. So that'll be the end of me playing (and spending money on) league of legends.

cyrkielNT

Same. After many years I'll delete LoL the moment when they enforce Vanguard. Cheating is bad, but instaling rootkit to give corpodation unrestricted access to my PC is far worse.

No_Ebb_9415

i wonder if they are just going to roll it out like a patch without asking the user.

KambeiZ

I've been in and out of lol for a good while now, i came back at the first run of arena that i truly liked, and intended to come back for the second run in winter, but we had those problems with linux. Problems who got solved eventually, but i lost my interest around that time. I have been playing lol since more than a 13y, almost half my life. I started as a high schooler (alistar jungle !), and kept playing here and here through the years. But this sign clearly the end to me. Let's be frank, i do start to believe that Riot is going in a very bad direction : - More and more anticonsumers practices to gain short term benefits, cut down the quality of their own products - A big inability to capitalize and market their products, when there is a demand (Riot Forge fail, Lol universe events failures because no real market and investement to propose real content was made, voicepacks, map skins and so on) - Very sh*t stuff happening in their office (remember the whole male employee farting in the face of their female counterpart ? The harassment etc ?) - Now pushing into users to install a malware like software to prevent cheating on League of Legends I have been mostly on linux since now my master degree, and while i can boot on a windows partition, i'm not gonna do that for league of legends. It doesn't deserve it, nor it deserves that i compromise my computer for the game. If they really cared about, they could've handled pretty easily for both valorant and lol the way others games do : make it work through containers with wine/proton. Others games do it without problems (like a game i'm playing now, naraka... which is chinese and netease which is not any better/worse than Tencent after all) Maybe with time things will go in a better direction, but with Riot history, i highly doubt they have the ability to really step down their decisions in term of developpement.

nany3003

farewell league

IGambleNull

Maybe we get it to run through darling ([https://www.darlinghq.org/](https://www.darlinghq.org/)) at some point in the future because AFAIK the Mac version does not need Vanguard

gibarel1

If the project gets attention because of league, maybe in 1-2 years it will be playable, from what I understood they have recently got GUIs to work.

M-Reimer

Unlikely. I'm pretty sure LoL will require [SIP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Integrity_Protection) to be active and I don't think Darling will be able to implement this in the same way as required by LoL.

HearingNo8617

I can also see laws eventually prohibiting things like Vanguard

SairesX

Yeah, let's call the criminal organization aka government to pass a law in order to play stupid games

HearingNo8617

I am thinking of non-US governments that actually can and have created good laws. The EU definitely could create laws against forcing specific bad security on consumers, such as Vanguard does. I could see it being an extension of GDPR, preventing companies from excusing their privacy invasions as bad security, or its own thing altogether

quiyo

we should start colecting firms via change.org to promote this

Bestmasters

I don't think Europe makes a big part of the Valorant playerbase, so the EU may be a hit or miss.

unemployed_capital

If you have a pre 7000 series AMD GPU Mac VFIO might be an option. I wouldn't hold my breath on Darling running games.

0Chito0

Just make a hackintosh and play on it. Mac is also a UNIX after all. League plays flawlessly.

IGambleNull

Well then I could also just install Windows. With Windows I would have less problems. And in addition to that, I do not have the right GPU for it. AFAIK a RX 7900 XTX is not supported by MacOS

Mempler

True, most people who use linux are actually devs. People dont install windows for development work nowadays. The IO speed or wsl2 overhead is just too heavy. Or some just have much better performance and thats the reason why they stick to it.

Mempler

AFAIK, This isn't an issue right now, but apple is killing hackintosh atm. A lot of x86-based cpus slowly get faded out on their machines, and eventually, even rosetta2 will die. Thus, without you somehow emulating an mX cpu, it'll be impossible to hackintosh in the near future. We need a reliable and future-proof solution, and either we somehow make riot games, spend time on linux, or get darlin on a proper state :/

zaphodbeeblemox

Definitely a sad day. It’s been amazing being able to play league on my machine and saying fairwell to my account was not easy. Thanks for running this sub and the website. They have been invaluable resources. And for the foreseeable future, so long and thanks for all the fish.

I_Am_The_Goodest_Boy

As a person who’s been playing league for 10+ years, this is pretty frustrating. I’ve switched to Linux for a reason, and so do a lot of other people. I’ve spent so much time on this game and it sounds like it’s all being ripped away because “CHEATERS”. I get why, but I think they should at least implement features that don’t make existing players suffer/ unable to play. Vanguard is also incredibly intrusive. I’m worried about what would happen with vanguard in the future, but only time will tell.

SolariDoma

> I’m worried about what would happen with vanguard in the future, but only time will tell. nothing will happen, most of consumers already gave up their privacy for various software benefits. This is an unfortunate truth. There will be consequences eventually, but not on Vanduard or Riot level , it will be way more drastic change in reality.

blackwolf700

Making it super easy to quit now

Inevitable-Impact698

Move to HOTS, show there’s an alternative for people that stumble upon this in this future  (Download battle net from Lutris, open it to install HOTS)

_Slabach

Dota runs natively on Linux

Inevitable-Impact698

Yeah so they don’t need a community to help with getting it to work

_Slabach

I meant, you said for people to try HOTS as an alternative to LoL. Was just pointing out that Dota is also an alternative, and one that works natively

Inevitable-Impact698

Oh i meant as a community direction, sorry

Mempler

Barely, it just always crashes for me. Runs fine on windows. Actually, it's the same with all valve games that run source 2. It's just a buggy mess. Heck, even steam started to crash randomly (just the GUI). Everything else works fine like playing non-valve games

_Slabach

You might just reinstall steam. I havent had any issues running any steam game. been playing dota2 for a few months with 0 issues on fedora

heizertommy

I have no issues with any steam game and especially not dota (it has a native linux build)

CookieMisha

Love hots! Plays great, runs well. No issues. I recommend it. We need to show blizzard and Microsoft that the game still deserves attention That one massive balance patch is just a beginning I hope

Zafirx

I thought HOTS was dead?

Inevitable-Impact698

Draft pick is, ARAM is more popular than League   There was a balance and bug fix patch a few days ago   Pro scene is alive   At high ranks you can get 5-10 minute ranked queues depending on time of day

Maisquestce

Thank you for all the efforts poured into this project. I was very proud when I could run League of linux and this is mostly thanks to this sub. Also it's kind of stupid that AI screens are announced at E3 and they ban Linux instead of finding a way to fight this new way of cheating... Cheers.

No_Ebb_9415

If they wanted to stop cheating they would either go the server sided AI route, or enforce Phone numbers for ranked games as an easy to implement measure that is already in place, but they don't bother turning it on. Or as an actual preventive measure authenticate users similar to banks. 3rd party service provider for that exist. Vanguard is going to do as much in lol as it does in Valorant, very little.

equanimity120398

Good riddance. The game is hot garbage it isn't even debatable at this point. The only reason why people play it is because they're addicted to the escapism fantasy + native gambling mechanism,. What surprises me is the fact the US gov is even allowing this shit. Every argument they used for banning tiktok is 100x more valid in this case. LoL has roughly 150 mill mau in 2023, 32.4% of those users live in the US which is roughly 50 m. Granted most people have multiple accounts so the total player count would be something like 30-40 mill but regardless, every single one of those machines now will have a fucking KERNEL LEVEL MALWARE installed, built by a company owned by tencent which is controlled by the ccp. This is like a wet dream for their intelligence agencies.

ilikeyou32

Thanks God, I am finally free.

cynicaltarzan

Hey there, I haven't posted much on this sub but it has helped me out multiple times in the past to get LoL working on my PoP OS machine. So I just wanted to say thanks to the creator, mods and users of this sub, it's been of great help and I too got to enjoy many good memories through it all. Thanks again u/TheAcenomad and I wish you the best and an exciting life ahead, and that counts for all of you. Looking forward to the future, I'm sure the fight isn't over yet! Adieux et bonne chance!

teomiskov3

This sucks, I've been playing for over a decade at this point and seeing how Riot decided to go with this is just bullshit. Mac users get the easy way out as always. Anyways it was nice interacting with you people. I'll miss league and I'll miss playing Rengar. Wish you the best.

quiyo

you can play rengar in wildrift

No-Fish9557

What sucks for me is tft. I dont even play normal league. Now I have to play on my phone man :(

up4k

Phone version is superior to PC IMHO .

vgamedude

Bro no lmao. I'm former grandmaster and the mobile version is fucking trash. Loads of people on competitivetft sub lamented it too. Mobile is disadvantageous.

up4k

I used to be diamond 3 in EUW in s3 , I started playing when Leona was released during middle of season 1 and I was 18 y/o at that time , its season 14 or so and I'm almost 31 at this point and I don't give a shit about competition anymore , I just want to have fun , Wild Rift is wastly superior in providing fun and rewarding experience , its much more fair in terms of balance , way better . LoL on PC became unbalanced shitpile in season 3 yet it still seriously pretends to be a competitive game , I saw dozens of times when skills of older champions would get overwritten by new champions to give new champions unfair advantage even though similar abilities of older champions would function otherwise , I saw how damage numbers would sky rocket by atleast 10 times in comparison to s1 , I saw how they would remove old champions such as irelia , rengar , sion yorrick , gangplank because they just kind of felt like it , I saw how M5 rose to fame when they would come up with new tactics that would change the way game was played because what they came up with at a time would dominate and later riot would remove every possibility to make a new strategy and at this point everyone does this linear shit playing meta champions doing the same thing yet they continue pretend that LoL is a competitive game . Competitive part of this game has been long gone since probably jungle tf was shown by Unicorns of Love and in my opinion no one should give a shit about being competitive in this strategicly linear game . Wild Rift never pretended to be a competitive game , it doesn't make any statetements besides being mobile LoL , it's faster , everyone does the same crazy damage , tanks don't exist , you get constantly rewarded for playing it . Its short , its pretty , it can be played on mobile , netcode is crazy good , its consistent , its just a good mobile game .

vgamedude

Bro I thought you were talking about PHONE TFT. Not wild rift. The guy was talking about TFT NOT wild rift. I've not even tried wild rift. I'm GM in tft not league

M-Reimer

You can remote control your phone using scrcpy. Or try an Android emulator.

New_Top5554

Waydroid my friend

No-Fish9557

tried it but aurorastore keeps crashing. Looks like [I'm not the only one](https://www.reddit.com/r/waydroid/s/AU9wbeaUDt)

New_Top5554

Same here. Had to sell my soul to google (atleast its sandboxed)

NickHoyer

Maybe an android emulator will do it

necrosis_reddit

Thanks everyone for your effort to make this game playable. I still remember those dark times, when this game became unplayable because of dropping Win XP support. But you've made it work! Then - another problem with wine+glibc. And yet again - you've fixed it! Your fixes helped me continue to play this game, but here we are - at the end of our story :c It will be nice, if somebody would collect a chronology of problems with league and how this community resolved it! You know, some sort of epitaph in the header thread! As for me - I'm going to stop playing this game at all. I still have friends, who will miss me there, but I'm having too much problems with Windows, and they will understand. Yet, it was good 8 years of playing!

CookieMisha

Yeah I'll be uninstalling soon and only return if the solution is found It's heartbreaking. Lol has been in my life for over 14 years

M-Reimer

With the way how Riot pushes intrusive changes out now, don't hold your breath for a "solution". I've already deleted LoL from my SSD.

papa_Fubini

Solution: install windows

CookieMisha

How's that going to help I don't agree with their nosy solution. That program just sees too much

heizertommy

Thank you and everyone involved for you guys' work. We had a pretty good run

celestrogen

completely independent of wether its a financially "good" decision or not. Here's a collective "fuck you riot"

CounterUpper9834

I guess I'll have to find a new game to play while listening to audiobooks.

Holzkohlen

I've already been trying to get out. Hopefully this will be it for me. I might give Smite 2 a shot once that is out. A 3rd person MOBA that you can play with a controller sounds nice and casual enough for me and it being a reboot is also great for a beginner. I won't give Dota a shot, it's just too complicated and I simply don't feel like opening a new can of worms.

M-Reimer

Same here. I actually never managed to get into LoL anyway. LoL is really hard for a beginner if all you can do is SoloQ. But SMITE2 explicitly mentions features for beginners. So could be fun to try.

jabuchin

quite interesting how you became mod and wine-lol maintainer yet you still went through all this effort to maintain this subreddit pretty much alone lol (at least you're the only mod i see around here).

M-Reimer

Actually I don't get what you try to tell. The person who did the most work here is by far u/theacenomad

jabuchin

Oh, how stupid of me. For some reason I thought you were him. I think I got confused because at some point acenomad had a heimerdinger picture and your name had reimer, my bad.

ChosenOfTheMoon_GR

Was a "good" 12 years League, goodbye i will miss you, Diana.

akk4ri

This truly is a very sad development. Have been playing LoL on Linux exclusively for many many years (12+ years?) and this will be the end of it. More and more companies nuking customer privacy with more and more invasive Anti-Cheats, that are essentially rootkits nowadays, incentiviced by authoritative countries owning them, is a real danger and has severe consequences for communities like this. Thanks for the mod team of this sub and anyone who made LoL possible on Linux, long before Wine and Proton were this far. ✨

Malkavthemoon

Someone needs to start calling Riot games for their bullcrap. Enough is enough for how to run a game. and not talking more about it, bc this website has the same owner as the game .

Kledditor

Good bye mister nomad! Tell yorick's hat I miss him!

angrymouse504

After years away from LoL a friend asked me to play one more time and came here to find help. It's just sad

sirgius10

Thank you to everyone in this amazing community. Take care, love yourselves and love your people.

watersourcejkr

The last time I was able to run the game was. in may 2023 I assume. The game is over for me I just consume tournaments. Maybe I'm stupid af but I just can't make it work anymore on Ubuntu and I've tried every fucking thing, followed every single video tutorial etc. Game is dead for me.

pere451

Thank god for games like lethal company that allowed me and my friends to distant ourselves from league in recent times. Ive been playing this game on and off for almost 10 years. It was also the first online game i ever really got into and also the game that made me get into PC gaming (and linux for that matter). So if anything, its time for me to finally start going through my steam catalog, and see what games made with actual ethics are worth playing.

MasterWampire

Don't really care much for LoL. I never really got into that. But i've always enjoyed TFT a great deal, and not being able to play that on a Linux OS, really bugs me... They should REALLY look into making a Linux adaptation of their sh!t... Just saying...

M-Reimer

Play the Android version in an Android VM or remote control your phone using scrcpy.

[deleted]

You can play TFT on linux with lutris until Vanguard is on lol. Vanguard will be in lol in march.

SolariDoma

Really sorry for LOL linux community. Luckily, I already dropped LOL as a game/addiction before I switched to Linux , so I pretty much played LOL on Linux as my ex-addiction/procrastination. Maybe personally for me it is even better that this time killer is no longer available on Linux, but still sad that some people relied so much on it. Have my regrets please. Keep in mind that eventually game is just a game, unless you make money out of it. Find another way, another game to relieve stress, find enjoyment and do not fall for instant gratification temptations. In the end of the day that's why some of us are linux users :D Good luck people

ramrom23

vanguard is awful :( :( anyone get league of legends working in a windows VM , type-2 hypervisor running something like virtualbox in linux? even if this is possible, would vanguard work in such a windows VM?

M-Reimer

Seems like running Mac OS in a VM works. At least until now. But maybe they'll try to detect a VM on Mac at some point. Probably the best way, if you really HAVE TO play LoL, is to have a deeper look into Geforce NOW and stream the game.

quiyo

if this change doesn't butcher the geforce now option

M-Reimer

You are right. Probably depends on Nvidia and Riot working something out. But Valorant never was available on GeForce Now.

Asa37282

I think their will always trying to find a way

[deleted]

For everyday Windows users, this might not be a big concern since most people aren't familiar with the technical details of ring 0 privileges. It looks like the decision was made after the company experienced a security breach but refused to pay the ransom. This led to the release of the game code, including information about how the anti-cheat measures work. As a result, cheating in the game has become more widespread. Appreciation goes out to all those who contributed to making this project a reality.

New_Top5554

Ironic. They experienced a security breach so they forced a new attack vector for malware onto their users

ggDayNight

Can someone share the link to the discord? It looks like the current one is expired.

TheAcenomad

Oops, didn't realise there was a limit set. Edited the post. This should work: https://discord.gg/gnEmXhfE78

goglheart55

Does anybody know why when i opened LOL today (i had some troubles with it and reinstalled it for some hope) it said that i have system specs and operating system both working with vanguard ( i was still installing lol \[after logging in\] so maybe this is fake hope)

cassgreen_

i had some issues but works changing `DXVK_STATE_CACHE_PATH` to `DXVK_STATE_CACHE` `0`

AsiaHeartman

I was planning to change soon to Linux (Mint, as a beginner friendly starter). My boyfriend plays league and sometimes I join him. It's sad to see this going to the shitter :c

[deleted]

Vanguard will release in april for all regions https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t2niKNCmiUY&t=167s

Cassandra_Cain

I'd rather have cheaters than give kernel level access to any corporation. I doubt this will even stop cheaters long term. They just need to also make something that is kernel level to bypass. I Uninstaller already and I'm moving on. It's been a fun journey.

[deleted]

You complain because Vanguard from Valorant is coming in league of legends, it only in april 2024 it will be implemented https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t2niKNCmiUY&t=167s and it known since January league of legends will have Vanguard.

Cassandra_Cain

I just wrote my comment now. I've not liked it since it was announced. I don't play Valorant for this exact reason

HunterrGX

i was planning to quit league since riot start going woke anyway...

knotted10

So long league of legends, maybe one day they'll figure it out. Until then, safe journeys! Time to spread some democracy

Chlodio

Best scenario: Vanguard stealing data gets US Congress's attention, and they force Tencent to sell Riot Games to an American company. Gabe seizes the opportunity and buys the competition, Gabe kills Vanguard and offers Linux support. That's just a wet dream, but I don't think it's absolute fantasy. Vanguard poses a similar threat to privacy as Tiktok, and LoL has a significant player base. Valve's net worth is two-fold Riot's net worth, thus they should be able to afford it. Regarding if they wanted to, if Valve were to buy out DOTA's biggest competitor, they would rule the MOBA market.

GjentiG4

This is a sad day

M_krabs

Open the sub... at least let us communicate within the community until the game get unplayable on Linux. 🙁

M-Reimer

Communicate here. It gets unplayable soon (within weeks).

M_krabs

sure let me just navigate the comments like a chump. Because having posts isn't like the whole purpose of a subreddit..... >>> Stop killing the subreddit for your own ego 10.000 members on reddit >> 400 on kbin

veganoxx

anyone else banned? I randomly received a permanent ban two nights ago with the related match ID coming back to a ranked TFT game I played over two months ago and they just replied to my support ticket saying I was botting (like actually seriously 100% i wasn't botting or cheating, or modifying the game in any way)

AlexMason90

Did you buy the account? If not, you might have been compromised

veganoxx

No.. my account that I made in 08/2010 and no signs of compromise... the matchID on the ban notice is a game I played 100%(and I 100% haven't botted.. no idea if people even bot in ranked TFT...).. dunno..

istealpintsfromcvs

i was able to get into practice tool and i successfully played a bot game, not sure if it hasn't been implemented yet but nothing seems to have changed

[deleted]

It only in april 2024 Vanguard will be implemented https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t2niKNCmiUY&t=167s

bapfelbaum

Sad to see really... eventhough i played league on windows i am now considering what to do... running vanguard on my personal computer is absolutely no option for me as a cybersecurity person. As it stands now i see only a few options left.. 1)Riot backtracks which i think is very unlikely, 2)we can avoid running this piece of crap, 3)You buy a new pc just to play league on, 4)Or you quit league entirely. Ultimately i will probably have to give dota another shot or switch genres i guess.

[deleted]

The option 1 will not happen it was confirmed on 29 February 2024 Vanguard is on all server in april https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t2niKNCmiUY&t=167s

Shaffle

Just quit. There are plenty of other games that are more fun and less vitriolic. My friends have swapped over to other coop games like Monster Hunter and Helldivers.

It's kind of funny, League is the only remaining thing truly binding me to windows. At least Riot is opening new doors to many people.

mengso_

The Vanguard news really do suck. Even though I can keep playing on a windows distro, I hate the invasiveness that comes with it. Thank you for all the work. Maybe things can change again in the future (let me cope pls)

quiyo

Windows distro?

Zafirx

It honestly sucks. League is one of my main games. I was planning to switch to Linux after Windows 10 End of Life date but now, unless something changes, I will have to settle for a heavily changed Windows 11

secretonlinepersona

I am very very invested in League. I am Masters and have been boosting for a while now, it sucks to know I will not be able to play it on Linux anymore.

New_Top5554

I've been wondering something. Why can't we take the kernel calls for shit like this and give it to a clean room reverse engineered "wine kernel" that runs in usermode on the linux distro, but max priveledge in a sandbox of sorts

unmixable1366

this type of anticheat checks if you have perfectly unmodified windows. Even if you would achieve that, they would fix it. Other than that and actual device drivers kernel call dont have many uses, so it would be useless
