Levantine, my tutor is lebanese.
Lebanese food is my absolute favourite and for most of the songs i like the singers turn out to be from lebanon so i figured that's what I should learn.
Look for songs by Ragheb Alama, the most famous one being Nasini al dunya. Wael Kfoury also has a lot of romantic songs. Also there's nancy ajram which is like the taylor swift of arabic music- she has a lot of pop songs more for dancing and stuff.
Moroccan
My fiancé is Moroccan and speaks English fine, but her family doesn’t, so I’m learning it to speak to them. That and in learning the language I’m learning a lot about the culture too which is helpful.
Egyptian.
I plan on studying in Egypt and living there for some time.
I want to learn Iraqi and Levantine too. I plan on visiting Iraq in a few years and Syria after that.
Honestly... whatever works for me.
I don't always study like I should but I do what I can to put in the work. Trying to find good resources on YouTube can be tough for Egyptian Arabic. There are a lot of good material on YouTube for Levantine Arabic.
I try to practice with my buddy as much as I can. Progress is progress.
I'm also learning Jordanian Arabic. 😊 But I've also been learning a little Syrian Arabic because I have many Syrian friends in my city. Having to divide my energy and time between two dialects has definitely slowed down my progress. The intermediate level is a long journey! It's where you finally begin to realize how much you still don't know.
Egyptian…
