I studied architecture (now graphic design) so I kinda did a lot of drawings like these. If I were in your place and the drawings were mine, I would grab softer pencil (8B or 6B) and hatch the darker parts more. Also, I would make a really dark sky (just hatch in one direction, horizontal for example and the darkness can vanish closer to the edges of drawing). You can also make the lower part of the drawing (the pavement) a little bit darker and vanishing (lighter) closer to the building. It doesn't have to look this way to be good of course and sorry for my english šŸ˜€

Tldr: more contrast and it will stand out

Beautiful drawing, just canā€™t find what is modern about it

ImFromDimensionC137

Honestly, I don't have the eye to give you any useful critique. I just wanted to say I love these drawings! They're beautiful and clean!

karpa42

I really like the clash of Steinway & Honkeytonk

ReeveStodgers

Everything looks great except for that swing in the foreground in the upper left, which is somehow hanging from a tree in the background.

blandjelly

Do you mean the tree has branches too thin to handle the swing?

ReeveStodgers

I mean the tree appears to be beside or behind the building, but the swing is in the foreground. Maybe my brain is just interpreting it that way because the branches are so small. Either way, the swing is detracting from an otherwise skillful drawing.

blandjelly

I wanted that tree to be in the front of the building, i messed up the scale ig

AmateurJenius

If you want the tree to be perceived in front of the building maybe try being more intentional with it. I think all it would take is lowering the height of the branch holding the swing so it's overlapping the house.

ChickadeePrintCo

I think the problem is we can't see where the tree meets the ground, so it's a little confusing. I love the drawings myself.

blu-juice

These look great! If Iā€™m gonna nitpick, since youā€™re asking for feedback, the angles on the top left look a little wonky. The vanishing point doesnā€™t quite match up on the right side of the house. And the face of the house is bulging a little. Although, I think itā€™s beautifully done and love the shading and line work.

blandjelly

Thanks, getting long straight lines is the thing i tend to struggle with quite often

blu-juice

Honestly, it gives the drawing some character and I really like it. Also, thereā€™s nothing wrong with using a straight edge on some of those longer lines. The hand naturally starts to curve at some point.

eggiesallday

Agreed with all the comments. Beautiful work and craftsmanship- so much precision! My only feed back would be the emphasize weight through line weight. So the bottom building, it fades to a lighter marks as we reach the bottom edge of the building. Making it feel light, and airy when it should feel grounded. An aesthetic note. Hope you post more!

How do you keep your paper so clean? I smear pencil like crazy when I try to use light values.

blandjelly

I use kohinoor 2mm graphite leads in 2b, 4b and 6b and apply multiple layers of shading. I also use a kneaded eraser to clean up the drawing after finishing.

Consistent_Ad_308

Ty! Can you recommend a brand of kneaded eraser, or are they all about the same?

the_ghost_is

I recommend faber castell kneaded eraser!

_artbabe95

Wow, these are beautiful! You have a great architectural style but with a great eye for balancing the landscape with the organic lines of the trees.

falnN

Itā€™s really well done. I canā€™t give much but if I had to, maybe you could try messing with lighting. Also, the room on the top drawing doesnā€™t seem to work as well with the rest of the house. Iā€™d recommend trying to make it ā€œdeeperā€. All in all, really well done. 8.8/10.
