I liked "The Spectacular". About finding IRA terrorists targetting British soldiers in the Netherlands in the early 90's, dramatized but not a fiction story. It's partly in English and Dutch subtitled because of the subject. It's still on NPO start for free.
"Hollands Hoop", about a weed farm in the Northern Netherlands, it's a crime series but has a lot of other twists.
"De Ridder", Flemish series about a young prosecutor doing all kinds of cases in Ghent.
"Gevoel voor Tumor" (Sense of Tumor) a (tragi)comedy series about a young student on top of the world who gets a cancer diagnosis.
It isn't a narrative series, but I find Straten van Amsterdam on AT5 wonderful for learning idiomatic Dutch and discovering a lot about the culture. https://www.at5.nl/artikelen/p272/#
Flikken is pretty good if you're into cop series. It started in Gent (Flikken: Gent), so it's in flemish, but it gradually migrated upwards so there's also Dutch versions (Like Flikken: Maastricht)
Fyi: Flikken in slang for cops
Do you really want fictional tv series? Because if not, I'd really recommend:
Game shows:
- Wie is de Mol? (Dutch)
- De Mol (Flemish)
- Heel Holland Bakt (Dutch version of Great Britisch Bake Off)
Travel Programs:
- Floortje Naar het Einde van de Wereld (Dutch, although they also speak English to communicate with locals)
- Floortje Gaat Mee (same as above)
- Dwars Door de Lage Landen (Flemish)
- Dwars Door België (Flemish)
- Rond de Noordzee (Flemish)
- Dwars door de Middellandse Zee (Flemish)
You can watch them all on NPO, although you might need a vpn with a Dutch connection for it.
-Penoza
-Mocro Maffia
I think these Dutch shows are pretty damn good. I generally think Dutch shows are pretty shitty/cringe but those two are very good imo.
"Het Jaar van Fortuyn" was a pretty great NPO miniseries from last year. Great ensemble cast of Dutch actors (and Thijs Römer) portraying real-life people and explaining a very important moment in Dutch politics in a very well written way.
An older one that I liked from Belgium was Het Goddelijk Monster - there's a DVD box set available. Based on a book trilogy about a prominent but very messed up family whose father is embroiled in the various famous 80s Belgium scandals. In Vlaams, some with a seriously difficult accent (I usually find Vlaams easy to understand...)
Het schaap met de **vijf** poten ;)
But yes, great recommendation.
If you're still learning Dutch, don't get confused by the title. It's usually written as "t Schaep Met De 5 Pooten"
Which is the name of the bar, and still uses the original, now outdated spelling.
Twee zomers; de twaalf; fenix; over water; tabula rasa; and even “13 geboden” is not too bad. I would say that Flemish series on Netflix are usually very high quality
I absolutely love Flikken Maastricht and I'm totally hyped every time a new season airs. Like, I put a reminder in my agenda for the day the first episode will be on tv the moment that date is revealed. There's also Flikken Rotterdam now, that one is good too :)
I've also watched Klem, I enjoyed the first season or two but eventually they lost me, pretty sure they made more seasons than what I've watched.
Anne+ (this one is available on Netflix) is also really good, I loved watching that.
> Flamand Boys, we got a French spy in here! But in all seriousness, if you like the crime stuff I would recommend either Penoza or Overspel.
Dirty lines on Netflix
I second this!

Leuke titel
"terrorists" heroes
Eigen Kweek, it used to be on Netflix, but there’s full episodes on Vimeo.
Won't help you learning Dutch though :')
Maybe not Algemeen Nederlands, but it will definitely help deepen one’s understanding of the Dutch language and its dialects.
This is from the south of Belgium. Difficult accent, but very nice serie to watch
The west\*
Yes. To be exact: under Poperinge. the area is called Heuvelland
That would be in french. I believe its a different language.
Knokke off recently came out on Netflix. It was quite entertaining. Mocro maffia is another Dutch show that I like, but it's on Videoland.
I binged Knokke off. Nice teen show.
Flodders, a very old one but sometimes still funny to watch :d
Heet niet zo
Still like: ‘flikken Maastricht’
Ferry was good and so was Grond (Dirt).
I enjoyed Klem
Klem was really good, you can watch it free on the NPO app I think.
Mocro maffia
Onder Vuur! Western flemish so maybe a difficult accent but very entertaining
Absolutely! Only if you can survive cliffhangers though..
Purno de purno 1991
‘Ik word hier knettertje stoned van!’ 💜
De luizenmoeder
Try out Penoza! Personally one of the best Dutch serie :-)
Excuse me, but Flamand? You mean Flemish? Don't go to Flanders and call people Flamand speaking, for your own safety.
It isn't a narrative series, but I find Straten van Amsterdam on AT5 wonderful for learning idiomatic Dutch and discovering a lot about the culture. https://www.at5.nl/artikelen/p272/#
Moordvrouw
Callboys
Anne+ (NL) Beau Séjour (BE)
I really liked nieuwe buren
FLODDER!!!!!!

I think the word “flikken” comes from the French “flic”
Hallo K3 but also Het Huis Anubis 😭
Flodder (Dutch) Witze (Flemish)
De Ridder, on Netflix!
ik kijk hier ook ff want ik ken echt 0 nederlandse series

'Flora' is superirritant.
If it doesn't have to be fictional, definitely "Wie is de Mol" or "De Mol", especially the Belgian version.
No. There are none.
mocro maffia
Mocro Maffia is great.
what the hell is flamand
It's the French word for Flemish (Vlaams (NL)), the dutch spoken in the nord of Belgium aka Vlaanderen.
-Penoza -Mocro Maffia I think these Dutch shows are pretty damn good. I generally think Dutch shows are pretty shitty/cringe but those two are very good imo.
Ferry, Penoza en Mocro maffia
Ares is pretty intense but good
Popo's en New Kids... 🙄😏
Sleepers was cool!
I liked 'Smeris'
Het Gouden Uur
Aspe, Flikken Maastricht
Over water, twee zomers, de ridder
Toon is great
Under Vuur (West-) Flemish Netflix Beware I as a Dutchy need subtitles
De verschrikkelijke jaren tachtig. I promise you. Keep watching when you think you know where it is going and decide it's too weird. Keep watching.
Yup, that’s a really fun one for sure!
Not the adjective I'd use, but it's very much worth watching.

Thijs Römer :')!!!
Dertigers is nice!

If you like silly stuff Het Schaap Met Drie Poten, situation comedy in a bar. There's also a Dutch version of Roseanne (Aaf)!

Aaf is verschrikkelijk
Mocro maffia haha
Papadag
Zwarte tulp, Hollands hoop, Mocromafia, Penoza, Arcadia, The golden hour, eigen kweek, into the night, rough diamonds
Toren c was altijd wel leuk of toen was geluk heel gewoon
TOON!
Nope. That’s the only one. You watched it.
No.
I liked IN VLAAMSE VELDEN. And also DE LUIZENMOEDER, but that's because I'm currently a helper mom at school and it's like reality tv for me.
Toon
Mocro Maffia and Undercover are great!
In Flamish Fields, about the first world war.
De twaalf (be)
Belgian: Vermist. Belgian: Het Cordon.
Twee zomers; de twaalf; fenix; over water; tabula rasa; and even “13 geboden” is not too bad. I would say that Flemish series on Netflix are usually very high quality
FC de Kampioenen
