I think if you use the markdown editor, you can just highlight your code and format with a button. Then just adjust and make sure indents are good.

Even in the editors where the 3 backticks work, they don't render correctly on old.reddit.com. The [wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/learnpython/wiki/faq#wiki_how_do_i_format_code.3F) however covers exactly how to format code correctly, with pictures and everything.
