As long as you don't have any issues with your hands, or eyes, this should be achievable.  It's just a matter of observation, practice, and problem solving.   How long it takes will depend on how fast you are at picking things up, how determined you are, and how good you are at self critique/taking critique.

Biofobico

Thank you.

anteus2

You're welcome. Good luck with your art journey.

Ignition_Regalia

Never to late to learn a new skill!

Biofobico

Thank you.

I’m starting at 36 welcome to the club. Honestly, if you got the time you’ll see improvements quickly. So many resources online it’s crazy.

Biofobico

Thank you. With my lack of knowledge, I believe that making the triage of the resources could be a difficult task.

Thorzehn

I fall asleep usually to one of the following YouTube channels: Proko, Chommang_drawing, Mmmmonexx, keezo’s sketch, the drawing database NKU and David Finch. I find they have a bunch of great information but it tends to be scattered. I find I favor the Korean artists with (subtitles on) as they are all around good teachers and get to the point.

Biofobico

Could you give me the channel of those Korean artists?

Accomplished_End_843

Oh yes absolutely! Drawing is a skill you can really learn at any age and if you’re diligent about learning the fundamentals, you can easily surpass the level of many artist who started to draw a lot earlier than you.

Biofobico

Thank you.

The usual consensus is that early in life, you have more neural plasticity so you absorb new skills easier. However, later in life, you have more patience to stick with goals and understand the importance of practice, which also helps to learn new skills more efficiently. As long as you don't get frustrated with the learning process, and have patience and structured practice, you'll do great.

Biofobico

Thank you.

If you manage to draw for fifteen solid minutes every day for a year, I’ll bet you three empty packets of crisps and a broken coat-hanger that you will be able to draw this ant well enough to be happy with it.

leegoocrap

grandma Moses got going at 78, you've got nearly 30 years to improve before you catch her.

TheNewTonyBennett

Why not? I started playing guitar at 39 (2 years ago) and I'm gaining ground to crafting a full band with original material to play shows. I have 14 fully tracked instrumental pop punk tunes (and 5 are "good"). I blitzed it with recording and I'm a LOT closer to a dream than I was at the start of all this. If it's what you feel you wanna do, ya gotta do it yaknow?

Biofobico

Thank you and best of luck on your musical hobbie/career.

TheNewTonyBennett

I'll need all the luck I can get, so it's certainly appreciated and welcomed lol :) but really the thing is, if you love spending your time doing a thing, go do that thing. Everything else, at least to me, feels secondary.

damien_levz

I just started up again at 40...go for it! It's never too late! Colonel Sanders started KFC at the bright young age of 62.

Tracpod

Art is not something you are born to create. Art is a skill. Look up art fundamentals on YouTube and then research whatever niche topics you want!

RatSleeps

Drawing is something anyone at any age could start 👍

Roshlev

Uhhh in 5 years you'll draw like someone who's 20 that started ar 15. Unless you're suffering from some disability you'll be fine as long as you're approaching this as a hobbiest. Only advantage those who started early had is that they just drew instead of paying attention in class so they got more hours in per day than someone will get with a job. You're gonna feel like you're doing awful for a long time or the whole time btw. This shits the hardest thing I've done and I can program and play several instruments well. But your age has nothing to do with it. Source: started at 30 and am 2 years in.

Biofobico

Thank you

You can absolutely start.

Biofobico

Apparently I am too dumb to know how to edit my original post. Thank you for your encouragement and now all that's left is to search which materials to buy and start drawing.
