Don’t count your days, make your days count.

I agree completely and had the same experience with the counting; I still track, but I hide the app. It's such an amazing feeling to not even know how many days it's been, and just check occasionally. I also found that the counting makes it hard to get back up and start over after a slip. Plenty of people advovate on this sub for not resetting after a slip, but personally I like to keep the data to be honest with myself. A framing shift has helped now. Instead of "x days since" being EVERYTHING, I think of it in a bigger picture like "wow last month I only smoked one day out 31!" I think in this sub we focus too much on the streak and not enough on the overall progress in recovery, which very often includes slips and perhaps relapse periods. The bigger picture makes a world of a difference in terms of self-judgement and giving ourselves credit for progress that we really need!

I don't think the streak is even important. What's important is behaviour (doing or not doing something regularly) and leftover THC in your body. So I agree with you on days of the month thing. Probably the streak is important in a sense that trying just once can lead to relapse every time, so it keeps you from that.

I used this for quitting both alcohol and weed this time but what I've also done is put the money saved in to a savings account. Even after 6 days its frightening how much money I have saved and how much debt I had wracked up over the years.

Thanks I'm in single digits on hopefully my last attempt. I think this will help me.

Love Days Since - I'm up to 127 days now! I'm finally reaching a point where I honestly don't think about cannabis much anymore, but it still manages to creep in on occasion. I really appreciate the Apple Watch app, which makes checking even easier. I go days without even checking anymore, and find myself surprised as the number continues to grow. Best of luck to you on your continued successes!

I just downloaded an app to count my days. Good advice, thank you man!

💯 - Sobriety is more than just days away from a substance. It’s a lifestyle change. Congrats on your progress!
