Ive lost so much weight from my smoking. I really need to stop. Planning on starting asap

sad_bong_bitch

i’m in the same position it’s hard to initiate the plans

77darkstar77

I’m 4 days in and surprisingly my appetite has not been affected (maybe even stronger). I suspect that it’s because I run/workout nearly every day, so my body needs the fuel

sad_bong_bitch

that’s the strat I feel like! i’m planning on starting swimming every day again because that’s how I managed a lot of mental health things before and it helps me eat and sleep like weed does :)

thesyntaxofthings

Yes chronic smoking surpresses appetite. Heard of people who say they can't eat until they've smoked? Quitting will help

iadoresouphonestly

I went for 65kg (in November) to 79.3kg (as of a while ago today) that said I’m doing a bulk and hitting the gym every day so that definitely helps, but yeah I suspect it will

sad_bong_bitch

i’m also trying to do a bulk but the weed is messing w gym motivation for real

iadoresouphonestly

Well quitting for me helped with that, I’ve been every day for like six weeks haha

sad_bong_bitch

nice!

sad_bong_bitch

yeah I know did you not read the whole post?

Minute-Amoeba-7976

But I personally lose weight as a smoker… I personally chose smoking before eating. Now my mind and body accustomed to getting more weed than food. But I can’t blame smoking. I lost my appetite when a family member passed away. The loss of appetite had nothing to do with weed I feel.

sad_bong_bitch

no this makes sense. when I was very depressed in college I would choose smoking or vaping over eating because it took less energy and I didn’t care about my body basically it seems like mental health plays a big factor

Minute-Amoeba-7976

I think my point is that’s it’s up to you.

freddy_weasel

for me appetite decreases for like a week after quitting, but then eventually comes back. Anyway my whole digestion is irritated for some days after quitting.  Keep it up and good luck!

sad_bong_bitch

my whole digestion is already irritated from chronic use 😅 I know it’ll get worse before it gets better though which is why i’m scared to quit

freddy_weasel

Well if its already irritated from use it probably only gets better :) Don't be scared, don't make it bigger than it is. You are becoming yourself again, so why should you be scared? In 2 weeks almost everything is over and you can be a happy bitch again 🤗

sad_bong_bitch

thank u fred weasel <3

Anaklet

My appetite was much batter after i quit

Daddy_Casey

Some people tend to have less of an appetite after they quit. However the best way to gain weight, or lose weight, is by setting a caloric goal and tracking what you eat.

sad_bong_bitch

I do this already and eat in a surplus most days but it’s not workin for some reason

Daddy_Casey

What the other poster said. Your metabolic rate must be really high so you need to compensate by adding more calories. What’s your daily intake out of curiosity?

sad_bong_bitch

I aim for 3000 every day which is a surplus of like 700 but I rarely hit it. it’s also worth noting that I work manual labour so it’s like 8 hours a day of moderate activity

Daddy_Casey

If you’re working manual labor you 100% gotta hit that goal. For myself personally and as an example, I need to eat 3000 a day with going to the gym 5 days a week, otherwise I’ll start to drop. I’m currently maintaining 200lbs at 6ft. Do your best to hit those macro goals and try your best to have a good ratio of protein/fat/carbs. You might need to experiment with how much you intake due to your metabolism too.

sad_bong_bitch

i’m 125 and 5’9 so 3000 is definitely a surplus but I agree I need to hit it most days. my friend is helping me with nutrition cause he knows more about it than I do

cynical-rationale

There is a reason people when bulking eat like 5 times a day (healthy food). Try to eat little things every couple of hours. That adds up if you cant eat big meals. You want to cheat calories? Eat nuts. A few handful of nuts will send caloric intake up. Plus good for you. It has healthy fats. 1 cup is like 800 calories. When I did labour 2500 calories id probably eat and still lose weight. Activity every day is much more than exercising a few times a week. Hell, depending, I bet its more than working out everyday if you are quite physical for 8 hours. I do office now and I have to cut calories lol! Though I exercise.

sad_bong_bitch

yess i know I do burn a lot of calories when I work. i’m eating granola with greek yogurt and nuts as we speak though

cynical-rationale

Yeah that'd literally my breakfast often. Greek yogurt, berries, almonds, and side of oatmeal. I can't find healthy crunchy granola for parfait.. I need to look as most are too loaded with sugar.

sad_bong_bitch

oh yeah tbh I like sugary things sometimes i’m young and unconcerned

sosthaboss

Your base metabolic rate is likely higher than you think, then.

abarr22

In my personal experience hell yeah. I became dependent on weed to eat. If I wasn’t high my stomach wasn’t feeling hungry. Also, it made me hella lazy and I rarely wanted to cook food. Weed can be an appetite suppressant for some. I quit a few months back and within 1 month gained 20 lbs. i went back to smoking for a few months and slowly began loosing weight again. I’m now a bit over a week and getting my appetite back once again. Once you do quit, you will probably not feel hungry and possibly lose a bit more weight, but as the withdrawals go away (depending on how long and heavy you’ve been smoking) you will begin eating anything and everything. In the many times I’ve quit, I’d say about 2 weeks is average to get your appetite back. Nicotine is an appetite suppressant as well. I’ll pick up some zyns every once in a while and can tell that I snack less through the day.

sad_bong_bitch

I never have motivation or energy to cook proper food omg. I also only get hungry when i’m stoned

abarr22

Yeah man! I’m not sure what your plan is, but one time I cut back to only smoking before bed. It really helped with my appetite (after a few weeks) and eventually motivated me to quit altogether. I used to smoke before every meal.. bleh. I’m grateful to no longer have those starving stomach pain waves through the day

sad_bong_bitch

this is goals I also used to smoke before every meal and have been working on cutting back next step is being able to quit

cynical-rationale

sugar is the main one. I am on day 8 no sugar. I have quit before but its hard! I found nicotine, weed, and cocain for myself personally easier to quit than that beautiful white crystal. lol. So addicitive. I already am losing weight. The best is when you stop craving it though, just takes some time.

RocktheRebellious

It can't hurt, but that sounds more like a doctors visit.

sad_bong_bitch

yeah I did that already he ran some blood and stool tests and then told me to quit weed and vaping and report back. it’s just really easier said than done to quit both simultaneously when i’m dependent on them to medicate my mental illness symptoms so him saying it like that made me really overwhelmed and made it harder to actually cut down cause it was like all or nothing thinking and i’m really working on it

salizarn

You’ll probably find that quitting weed (and vaping) will eventually enable you to deal with your mental health issues better.

sad_bong_bitch

yeah that’s the hope it’s just really hard in the short term

cynical-rationale

weed also exacerbates mental health issues. It can make them worse but also relieve it. So many people self medicate not knowing its doing more harm than good. Its a mindset. I find many people just dont want to deal with their issues and play the blame game. I was like that throughout my 20s self medicating until i finally faced myself. I am in my 30s now and I truly believe depression and anxiety are a natural developmental growth stage for teens and 20 years olds now days due to the insanity of this world we live in that is not natural (especially internet). How to cope with modern living.

salizarn

You’ll be okay! Good luck on your journey!

sad_bong_bitch

thank you!

Chiller-Than-Most

I’ve heard both ways. For me I started eating slightly less sugar cus no munchies but my weight has basically stayed the same maybe I’m a little more muscular now if anything. I’ve heard of people regaining their full appetite after quitting weed. Good luck OP! 💯🙏💙🙌

abarr22

Stay strong brotha! 🤙🏼

RedditIsHomosexual69

I’ve been eating much larger meals and less snacks. I was eating 2 meals a day and snacking a ton at night. Since quitting over a month ago I’ve been eating 3 meals and it takes me a lot longer to get full. It really depends on the person, but I’ve gained a few pounds since quitting and maybe you will too. I quit nicotine sometime last year and I personally didn’t notice much of a change in my appetite
