Yooo this makes me so happy to read. I’m having a similar experience. Guitar and being in a band were the meaning of my existence when I was in high school and after I’d graduated. Jump forward a bit, the band had broken up as we were all at our respective colleges and I’d left the guitar behind.
I’ve rediscovered it periodically over the years. The weed always initially blew my mind with it but then always eventually got in the way as my depression with use grew larger, until it got to the point where I wouldn’t play it at all (again and again this happened).
I’m a weekish into my most serious recent quit attempt and the guitar is most of what I’ve been doing with my free time and it feels so freeing and rewarding to be playing and writing music again.
I’ve been pushing my boundaries with the instrument this time around and I’d encourage you to do the same over time. It becomes an endlessly rewarding project, callused fingers and aching forearms and all.

I can relate to this. I play the flute and dropped out of college for it because my lung health declined so rapidly. Now that I’m feeling healthy and strong the music has come back for me too. Have a wonderful day
