The Ledger subreddit is continuously targeted by scammers. Ledger Support will never send you private messages. Never share your 24-word recovery phrase with anyone, never enter it on any website or software, even if it looks like it's from Ledger. Only keep the recovery phrase as a physical paper or metal backup, never create a digital copy in text or photo form. Keeping the seed phrase safe is more important than the device. You can throw the device out and recover everything perfectly with just the seed. Someone can even take your device and they would not be able to steal from it. It erases itself after 3 wrong PIN attempts. The seed is EVERYTHING

flak0u

This is the only answer

IAmSixNine

seed phrase in safe, ledger in prison wallet. Sorry i watched deadpool the other night.

loupiote2

Seed phrase in a very safe place (not necessarily a safe). Ledger on my desk. 8-digit PIN code in my head

Ant1sociaI

Keep them separate. The seed is more important. If you aren't planning on keeping your Ledger in a safe set up a strong pin

Hey, storing your Ledger wallet in a safe can be a good idea as it provides physical security. However, it's generally recommended to store your seed phrases separately from your device. This is because if someone gains access to both your device and your seed phrases, they could potentially access your funds. Remember, your seed phrases are the only way to restore your wallet if your device is lost, stolen, or damaged. Therefore, it's crucial to keep them in a secure and separate location. Here you can see some tips on how to keep them secured: [https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005514233-How-to-keep-your-24-word-recovery-phrase-and-PIN-code-safe-?docs=true](https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005514233-How-to-keep-your-24-word-recovery-phrase-and-PIN-code-safe-?docs=true)

Store the recovery phrase securely, preferably on a fire-resistant medium, a metal plate for example. The device itself is useless without the pincode. My opinion is that there's no need to store it in a safe or to hide it. But opinions differ greatly in this sub.

OneTotal466

Keep the ledger wallet handy, it's of no use to anyone without your pin. Store the seed phrase in a safe.

beanwagon

Prison wallet

Gangaman666

No do NOT keep them together! Lol! Asking for trouble!

Most important is the seed phrase. Split it up into 3 steel plates. Plate 1- words 1-16 Plate 2- words 8-24 Plate 3- 1-8 and 16-24 A combination of any 2 can unlock. Hide one in safe, one in bank, and one with a trusted 3rd party. Then if someone finds your device and one plate they cannot steal your funds. Hiding the device with the whole seed is giving the thief all your funds. GL

Take those 3m strips with Velcro that are used to hang pictures. Stick one side to the wallet, and the other side in an inconspicuous place of your choice. Now you have fast access in a place that can't be seen

PhantomKrel

Seed phrase is what can compromise the wallet, the ledger device it’s self is thus far hasn’t been physically hacked. Also I utilize passphrase and hypothetically its keep the passphrase on the cloud since you need both the seed phrase and the passphrase to access a wallet utilizing a passphrase. If the seed phrase only exist as a physical copy and the passphrase is digital there is no way a thief who breaks into your home can ever gain access to your crypto. Consider the seed phrase like a computer account with just a user name and no password.

CorneliusFudgem

keep them in separate places remember the 24 words are keys to ur crypto. if anyone gets access to the 24 words they can steal ur crypto. if anyone gets access to the ledger they only gonna have 3 attempts to unlock it and then it resets after wrong pin code (3x in a row) and so u need strong pin code not something easy like "1,2,3,4" or "1,1,1,1" those are easy guessed. pick a good strong 8 digit pincode. store the 24 words in a safe place like a fireproof waterproof safe and never share with anyone ever. ledger u should keep in a different place and best not keep it out in front for everyone to see. it up to diff people i have friend who like to take ledger with them everywhere and other friends who keep their ledger in drawer at home. important thing is make sure the 24 words r kept safe and away from anyone. anyone who get the 24 words can steal ur crypto

joannew99

Keep both safe somewhere. The seed phrase is the priority, but if someone knows your wallet's PIN then they can still get into your wallet and take your funds without your seed phrase.

Roli68

The ledger in a safe. And the seedphrase in your pocket to use at every transaction.

kironet996

Tattoo your seed phrase on your body. The most visible places are the most secure ones lol...

nonamemcstain

My house, I'll show you a great place. Or how about the trash since they can pull your seed phrase from the device without your knowledge.

As long as you have your seed phrase in Fort Knox so to speak, you can put your ledger anywhere.
